We did not get a return call from Gowdy. They had done excellent work for us in the past.

The contract price included everything needed, including the county building permit. Although they installed my 240 volt outlet adjacent to my electrical panel as I preferred, I learned that it would have been the same price for a very long wiring run which would make it an even better value because it affords the flexibility of locating the outlet at the most convenient location for anyone. Their installation team was very friendly and did the job professionally. My project manager also applied for the 3CE rebates on my behalf, and that brought the total cost down to $250. In checking up on the status of my rebate applications, the 3CE agent confirmed that their funding for rebates is unaffected by the current federal government's pulling back of existing approved and funded programs, as well as closure of offices and various government services that provide support. All's good!

Moving my panel involved a lot of work, and they left with a very clean installation and excellent work. In every case our needs were met with a very prompt response from the office (Thanks Bev!) followed by courteous, professional field staff. Our latest issue was a total mystery to me after a couple of days working to find out why a single receptacle in our recently remodeled master bath showed dead while all the others worked fine. Brandon doorbell at 8:02 for an 8:00 appointment. OK, one of my biggest peeves was knocked flat. He listened to the issue as I explained the symptoms and what I had done for troubleshooting and then started doing his own investigation. He had the problem found and resolved in about an hour. Seems the electrician (NOT Electricraft) that did our remodel work made a couple of simple errors that led to our issue. In retrospect we seemed to have dodged a bullet with the previous work so cudos to Brandon for finding and resolving the issue. After finishing the bathroom, Brandon extended a circuit in the garage to allow for an outside receptacle (Christmas lights for Momma) and a new outlet for a replacement of our aging garage door opener. Another success in short order. When it comes to critical work in our home where poor workmanship could lead to a disaster like an electrical fire I always try to uses the best, not cheapest service. All of our electrical work goes to Electricraft and Brandon.

Instead, it's clear this is simply how they operate--followed by deflecting blame elsewhere. This company demonstrates a consistent pattern of poor communication, missed commitments, and lack of follow‑through. They were the original installers and were hired to replace our batteries. Site survey completed June 2025, plans approved November, permit held for four months--and still no installation. After I repeatedly chased them, they scheduled an install for 2/10/26, then canceled four days before due to missing parts. What followed: ignored calls, unanswered emails, empty apologies from management, and promises of "personal follow‑up" that never happened. Ultimately, they blamed the lease holder and walked away citing their contract for repair had been pulled. (no kidding after 10 months of having it in your lap without ANY end in sight). Based on documented timelines and repeated lack of communication, this experience reflects systemic operational issues rather than isolated errors.

UPDATE TWO - posted AFTER THEIR RESPONSE (INITIAL REVIEW BELOW STANDS):…read moreThis contractor did communicate PRIOR to not showing up. They never indicated they were not going to show up if I didn't sign the contract, we had a "verbal contract" via e-mail in which I repeatedly stated my available date and they repeatedly stated they would be there ON THAT DATE. They did not communicate with me on the contracted date as I sat waiting for their arrival - out paid work - nor did they respond to any of my e-mails that day nor in the days following UNTIL THIS REVIEW was posted. They ghosted me from appointment time until they caught this bad review on Yelp. Pay no heed to the "businessman" behind the contractor curtain! (Also see his comment " Imagine trying to get paid by these people!" We had a contractor in here the day prior. Paid cash as agreed. Jason's cash was waiting...he just wasn't willing to show up for the work to collect it.) ORIGINAL REVIEW: Their communication system sucks (no actual call - just e-mail) and they didn't show for the final job. Just ghosted me! Bummer since I took a day off work to be here for them. If you want good communication and folks who show up, not this one. (I'm still waiting to hear back from them after they failed to show four days ago. They aren't answering e-mails.) So here's the story: I contacted Page Roofing after we detected a leak the last week of December. They showed up to check it out the first week of January. The crew of two was fast, efficient, documented their find, even made one quick, immediate, five-minute fix before heading back to the office to formulate their bid for more extensive work. Bid seemed high, but Jason worked on their transportation/fuel fee to help reduce it slightly. We bit the bullet and commmitted to being here. He sent a contract to be signed, but it didn't have a single date. Rather, it offered a window. I told Jason (see attached image) that I wasn't available for a window, so wouldn't sign contract stating such flexible work. He responded that they'd be here on set date, but never changed the contract, so of course I didn't sign it. They said they'd be here. Didn't show. Didn't respond that morning to contacts (made via e-mail). Entirely unprofessional. So...I'm out a day's income, the roof still isn't patched up, and I have to start over again (with a different, hopefully more professional company). UPDATE ONE: I just looked up their license via state licensing board. Should have done THIS research before. (Will do here forward.) It seems they've received admonishment letters from the state (2023) for various violations. https://www.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/CheckLicense.aspx) License # 1005750

I also asked another local company to give me a price--they were more expensive and took more time to come up with a price. We went with Estero Bay Solar Solutions. From the beginning Brian was on top of the process. When the solar panels that he first proposed were not available, he got us a replacement at the same price. He always communicated with us during the installation, and he worked well with the roofer and contractor (we had a new roof put on at the same time). Brian interfaced with PG and E, and he always came when he said he would. He makes regular inspections and will clean the panels if necessary. I've given him permission to use us as a reference, and to use our installation on his website. The panels keep generating electricity, and my electric bill for the year is what it was for one month. I highly recommend Estero Bay Solar Solutions.
