This was definitely not your typical everyday barbershop! The first thing that sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. I was even offered something to drink while I was waiting. Excellent service! Gabe cut my hair and he did such an amazing job! I came in having no clue how I wanted to cut my hair and he guided me to a style that completely worked! He also introduced me to a product that would help remove dry skin from my sideburns, and it worked wonders! The price was also amazing! I came to GQ CUTS as a referral from a friend. As soon as I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm welcomes and made me as comfortable as possible. The decor is very modern with an upscale and comfortable feel, a feat not accomplished by many, i tell ya! They have a nice flat screen to keep you entertained while waiting for your appointment or even during your session. However, the the staff is very interactive with all their clients are far more entertaining than the TV mounted on the wall. I love that this is a "FAMILY" friendly place and that really makes you feel at home. Bonxxx walked me through every step of the process of cutting my hair so that i would feel as comfortable as possible. He gave me great tips on how to maintain my hair with the items i already use on a daily basis. I honestly can say I've reached the pinnacle of my own barbershop journey. From years of having to endure language barrier-ridden salons in the OC to overly expensive mall boutiques in LA -- this place is bliss. The reason I found this place was from a friend on Instagram. It seems that nowadays nothing beats actually having a strong social media presence and work that people actually feel like taking pictures of, so I said hey, it's a local shop and my friend got a really clean cut so why not try it out. I had my first cut scheduled with Cesse, and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and the overall scheme of the place. Not frustratingly trying too hard to be hip, but kempt and coordinated. The stylists here are courteous and casual. They offer you coffee or tea and take their time to get to know what you want done. Cesse communicated well, and definitely pulled off the fade and taper that I wanted, while maintaining enough length up top to work with. Most importantly, the price is absolutely phenomenal for the work they do. They do a great job at making sure that your cut has longevity, but given the price point and how fast my hair grows back (pretty sure I was a chia pet experiment), I'm actually wiling to go back rather than treating my hair like gasoline and waiting til it gets out of hand. I found my barber shop!!! Mark was amazing and does magic...he knows his craft and sticks to it and never disappoints. Everyone was friendly as soon as walk in. The owner looks cool and very friendly. They are busy when I walked in. I like that I can just walk in. I have a busy schedule and it's hard for me to make an appointment even remember to make an appointment. Usually, I would just thought about it gettig a haircut because I would have time and wanted it done the same day or at that moment, most of the good shops are closed on Sundays and GQ is open on Sundays and got lucky that Mark also works on Sundays! This rating is long over due. I was looking for a new barber/stylist for my hubby and thought this place was decent due to the positive reviews. First time there was a bit sketchy because just like any unfamiliar territory, you're just wary but as soon as we walked in they all welcomed us in and to me, that's stellar. If you're in customer service you must make your customer comfortable and they did just that. The hubs has gotten his hair groomed by the owner, Gabriel, Richard, Sessy(sp?), and Marcy. They're all great artists IMO, but every time he comes home with a fresh cut from Marcy, I wanna jump his bones (sorry, I know. Tmi) Marcy is awesome. When I first moved down to West Co from Hollywood, I did a lot of research to find myself a new barber (mostly yelp research) that can handle my thick head of hair like the fancy hollywood barbers I'd go to. Based off reviews, prices, and location I decided to check out GQ Cuts. Best decision I've made in regards to my hair haha this shop takes care of you. They offer water or coffee while you wait, they have good hair products, they SOOOMMEEETIMES stay after 6 just to give you a cut ( If you're cool ;) ) or let you come in real early on Saturdays before it gets crowded. The owner "GQ" is one of the most humblest guys I've met, never had to much of a conversation with him but he's always in a good mood, always polite, and always making sure the customers are being taken care of. read more

GQ CUTS have done and put on quite a few hair/fashion shows and they always have a standing ovation at the end of the show of how unique and different it is. The whole shop staff there is very unique in there own ways. GQ - shop owner/head barber is a very talented and skillful barber..young, energetic, and a very down to earth. While you are getting yourself in the chair with the barber or stylist they face you towards the TV so you can watch some good old entertainment while getting that new fresh cut or if you aren't interested in watching TV, the barber/stylist always gets a great conversation going with you just to make sure your visit is outstanding. I love this place. I first knew about them because my girlfriend gets her weekly hair cuts here. While I wait I love to talk to people so here I am starting a bond with everyone that works there. Everyone is just so sweet, nice, friendly, and they will NOT fuck your shit up. Just saying. Your hair is safe with them. I am curly headed girl who had black hair forever and I decided to give myself a new change and I absolutely am in love with the work that Marcy put in. My stylist moved from Covina to long beach,paying 35 for a haircut and driving to long beach seems like a double negative since my hair is short.after reading some reviews I decided to give this place a try. I went to get my hair trimmed yesterday and Marcy helped me add volume and movement to my hair. However, after the trim, I mentioned that the layers looked choppy and did not appear to be flowing togther for a smoother look. Marcy stated that it was probably due to my hair being tied up earlier in the morning. So I took her word for it, giving her thr benefit if the doubt.. after washing my hair, the layers are even more choppy and the style does not look put together. All I can hope for now is for it to grow back and finding another stylist. I gave the review a three because it seems like the business is more for mens haircuts. read more

I like to try out new barber's and stylists all time because if you don't you will end up with the same hairstyle. I tried this spot today and was very impressed. They are fast and accurate on the cuts. Marcy cut my hair and did a great job. From the look of the work of the other customer in there they all do really good work. I like that all the people who work there are all skilled barbers so I can really go to anyone if Marcy is busy. I seemed to have gone at the perfect time 4:45pm since there was no wait. I asked Marcy the best time on the weekend and she said from 1pm-5pm is the slower time. In the morning she said its usually a big rush 11am-1pm and can be a wait and a rush at the end of the day 5pm-6pm. Overall great vibes and I will definitely be returning. read more

I don't usually give out 5 stars but today this salon deserved one. "Would you like coffee or water and if coffee what type of cream would you like?" That was the first question I was asked. I was impressed. Now I normally would have Gabriel cut my hair but he was occupied and I decided to let a newbie cut my hair. His new is Raul. He was professional and asked questions about my hair style and so forth. As I sat there and he worked on my hair I turned around to look in the mirror and my hair looked perfect. First time here. Found this place from yelp! Got in the place and signed in. The place got packed real quick. Im glad i got there early. Staffs were friendly. Offered bottled water to all customers. I got my cut from Gabriel. GQ is a real cool dude! Very nice, down to earth, with a great sense of style. He introduced his staffs to me. We chatted over what hair style I wanted. He then provided his professional opinion, got an understanding of my hair texture, and walked me thru how he is going to get me the style I wanted. Real good conversationalist and won't force it if quiet is the preference. The price is great, compared to some of the other salon I've been. It was a very pleasant experience.
