I found GCLA after doing a search for "apologetics ministry in Los Angeles" on Google. I've been blessed to have found a place I can call home. The teaching of the word here is powerful, and Pastor Steve Cha does an exemplary job in his expository style of preaching. I also attend community group, with Pastor Ray Sevilla, who teaches us how to carefully and accurately exegete the word of God, line by line. His knowledge of scripture surpasses anyone I've met in the faith firsthand. I've attended many churches throughout LA, and this group is unique in the passion and heart they have to reach the lost, and in raising strong Christ-centered disciples. The musical worship team is quite gifted, and the hymns glorify God and support each sermon lyrically; leaving behind all of the fanfare experienced at some of the more "new age" types of churches in Los Angeles. You won't get any huge concert performances here, but you will be moved by Paul and Evelyn Yi's contribution of musical worship every weekend. I've been so fortunate to have become a welcomed member of this group who I now call family that in the Spirit I proposed to my future wife during service and the church has also been gracious enough to host our wedding and reception there as well! Anyone searching for a church really needs to add Grace City LA to their list of churches to check out. This is a new church and I have attended all of its predecessor churches in the space dating back to 2003. It has been a blessing watching GCLA get ready to serve the community. In a nutshell, it is a truly special church designed for the modern age that's rooted in the bible and isn't shy about going out to the city of Los Angeles to spread the gospel. Most churches I've been to usually emphasize only one or two of those things. GLCA seems to embrace all three. And their actions speak louder than words. I went to this church with a friend and am now in the part-time Music ministry. Pastor Steve, a graduate from the Master's Seminary revolves around the Word and does not beat around the bush or try to appeal to the masses. He follows, teaches, and applies what the Bible portrays and does it with conviction and a true calling. I've been a regular attendee of Grace City LA's weekly bible studies for the past three months, and it still surprises me to see how much I've learned and grown as a believer in this short period of time. Grace City LA is definitely a unique and novel church in that the teachings and sermons are crafted to edify the members into biblically equipped Christians. The teachings range from simple topics such as prayer to complex topics such as the difference between Calvinism and Arminianism, but they all take root deeply in the Bible. Learning about such topics really helped me realize that the Lord we worship is much more than our human knowledge constructs Him to be. I've visited Grace City LA twice. Once for a service and recently for a Women's Conference. The one big thing I walked away was how much passion they have to serve others and their community. I recently had the opportunity of attending the Women's HOPE Conference at Grace City LA Church in downtown Los Angeles and it was an extremely blessed time of worship, powerful testimonies and prayer. Grace City provided lunch, wonderful speakers and a warm welcome. Pastor Steve Cha was there to support the women and served us so graciously. He even helped to bake fresh chocolate chip cookies to give to us women at the end of the conference! He amazes me in his knowledge of the historical, political, and social issues of the time the Word was written and brings it to life so it is easy to understand.
