THREADING is the way to go! $15 for brows AND lip! Great price. While I was there I noticed they offer VERY AFFORDABLE facials. I ended up getting an acne facial ($30, $25 if you're a student)... *Vindia* hooked it up with a glycolic mask, extractions, and a vitamin C mask to brighten my skin. I was referred to this place by a friend and since then I've never tried any other threading salon! It has great service, the place is kept very clean, has a modern and they play the best tranquil music. They thread your eyes AND massage it at the end of the service, which is a perfect finish to your newly cleaned and shaped eyebrows. -=)..and I almost forgot the best part. The pricing is only $10. My first impression of Grace Threading was a good one - the receptionist was reaaally nice and polite, and they were totally understanding when I got stuck in traffic (and then got lost!) and was 30 mins late for my eyebrow appt. So I'm not new to threading. I've been going to the same lady in San Jose for years, but I wanted to have a go-to lady in SD just in case. When I was getting threaded, I was really surprised bc I didn't feel ANY pain. It usually hurts me towards the end, but I walked out without feeling any pain. I THOUGHT that was a plus, but I was wrong.. Turns out there was no pain bc the girl BARELY removed any hairs. SERIOUSLY! I had to go home and take hairs out using TWEEZERS, and I don't mean 2-3 hairs, but I'm talking 10+ hairs on my right eyebrow alone. Furthermore, my eyebrows ended up looking retarded. I know that no 2 eyebrows look the same, but I'm used to my eyebrow lady back home fixing it so they look somewhat similar. Nopes, I walked out of Grace Threading with a slightly curved (aka "soft arch") eyebrow and a HELLA angled (aka "b*tch") eyebrow. It takes a LOT of eyebrow powder to fix/even out. -_- I will say that I appreciate how Grace Threading gives stamp cards and consultations. The lady who threaded me told me to grow my eyebrows out for a month, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and come back in a month. I can't believe I drove all the way to Chula Vista to get my brows threaded last time. That should show how anal-retentive I am about people touching my eyebrows. I don't think I've ever had someone ask me how I wanted my brows to be threaded (all my previous brow girls have gone by intuition). She had the lightest touch ever. I usually bite my lip and hold my breath for 30 seconds because that's how long it takes, but this experience was like a 3 minute tickle. She asked me every now and then little questions about my brow shape and analyzed my brows before diving in with her thread. It felt like I was at a spa, no joke. And she even put aloe on my brows after she was done and massaged. I swear if I had been treated this nicely at my brow place back home, I'd have thought that I was VIP bollywood star status................ Definitely willing to shell out $10 for this kind of treatment. New brow place for the win! read more

I'm finally writing a review after going to this place for almost 2 years. I used to go to Beauty by Dolly, but Grace Threading is actually closer to where I live and also more convenient (Trader Joe's shopping center). I was skeptical of them at first, but for my first session, I remember how fast the lady threaded my eyebrows compared to the ladies at Beauty by Dolly. I even told her, "wow, you're fast!". And my eyebrows looked good! Plus they're a little cheaper than Beauty by Dolly! As time went on, Grace Threading got busier (which is a good thing). So if you plan on going there straight after work on a Friday, I recommend setting up an appointment instead of waiting 15-20 minutes. It gets awkward in there because everyone is quiet and just stares at the ceiling waiting to be called next. Haha. Anyways, I really love Grace Threading! The only thing is, is that I wish every lady goes through the same exact training. Some of the ladies make my threading experience hurt, but that's because I'm sure they're new. And others make it so quick you barely notice your hairs are being removed. They just need to know that the slower they go, the more it'll hurt for us! Other than that, this place has been pretty consistent. Take advantage of their punch card! You get the 11th eyebrow threading free! read more

I have visited Grace threading twice now and twice I have left with the same feel...It was big FAT OKAY. I am a fan of threading. No more back room wax jobs for me. But I have had better threading than this. After both visits I have had to go home and tweak and tweeze a little more. I have had the same young lady twice (she never gave me her name or an "hello" for that matter) There are some good things though...they give you a punch card for frequent visits. It's a nice place next to Trader Joes, which is convenient for me. And they do this 60 second forehead massage thing. Whoa, I'd been coming here for years and can't believe I never wrote a review for this place! The only other place I know in SD that does $10 threading is a salon in the Chula Vista Mall, which is alright... and way too far. The ladies at Grace Threading always do a great job with my eyebrows, AND I love the forehead and temples massage with aloe vera after they're done. Despite the pain of it, I always look forward to getting my eyebrows threaded there because of that little head massage. Little things like this go a long way. My friend introduced me to Grace Threading saying they she was happy with the results and the prices are cheaper that Dolly's where I normally go. I went after work around 6 pm on a Friday, didn't have to wait long at all. My threader was Farrah (spelling?). She was great, listened to what I wanted and made some helpful suggestions. She was very detailed, took her time and communicated as to what she was going to do and what she thought was best. Overall good experience with Farrah. My good friend introduced me to Grace Threading about 2-3 years ago. This salon was the first time I had my eyebrows and upper lip done with threading and I was satisfied with how they turned out after getting them done. I moved to LA shortly some time afterwards and had been getting my eyebrows done at various locations so I've seen my fair share of threading salons. I recently moved back to SD and had gone to Grace Threading 3 times since moving back. I like the fact that Grace Threading is so close to my home, however, the customer service here is poor. As they get the job done by assisting you, there's very little sincerity which should be key to having happy customers. The workers also speak in several foreign languages amongst each other, which is totally fine by me and possibly other customers but when you bring another worker to look at your eyebrows and start giggling at the customer spoken in a foreign language, it's not a very comfortable feeling or situation for that matter. It makes the customer assume that you're shit-talking and therefore, less tip and an unhappy customer. As far as the actual threading (of eyebrows specifically), it would be fantastic if the staff could inform the customer if they suggest doing something different instead of just doing what they assume looks better after the finished work. I'm personally not a fan of thicker eyebrows (which I feel I already have in general), changing the shape AND thickness without my consent. Hence why at the time of getting my eyebrows done recently, I requested to only to get them trimmed and freshened up. Not completely reshaped as I had liked the previous shape prior to the unnecessary change. Also, the actual thread that they use is extremely thick, dense and is painful. That and a few of the workers go over the same spot over and over again which is unnecessary if all the hair is removed... I'm giving the salon 2 stars for the cleanliness and location convenience for me but nothing more. Really disappointed of how the quality has gone down over the years. read more

i haven't gotten my eyebrows threaded for a few months now due to covid. i was finally able to and i was so happy! i asked the lady to clean up my eyebrows as well as thin it out a bit with a slight arch. there's one station right outside the front of the store with a fan blowing towards the chair. she was wearing her mask and sanitized/wiped down the seat before i sat down. my only concern is she wasn't wearing gloves which i feel is important to do since she was threading on my face. she did sanitize her hands, though. other than that, i was happy with how they turned out. read more

While i have no real complaints about this place. I'm not in love with it either. having recently moved up to this area and being too far away from the best waxer ever (adrienne at salon serendipity). I've had to find a place up here. Grace Threading was recommended so I checked it out. They did a good job at threading and I liked the stamp card (i like bargains) but they didnt keep my cool retro arch that I dig so much. My eyebrows were cleaned up but no sparkle! Also, I kept breaking out (i am not gen prone to break outs) after about the 4th time of going in I told the woman and she told me to make sure they only use witch hazel and sure enough that curbed the problem. Totally not something they did wrong I'm sure and she did find a solution but its something I never experienced. Super inexpensive and I never needed an appointment tho. read more

I've been a huge fan of threading instead of waxing for the past few years and Grace's does a great job! The staff is very friendly and the services are a good price and done well. The first time I wasn't happy with how my brows looked, but the second time was better. I've been to threading places that spend a lot more time on your brows and I've been to worse places that get you in and out of the door and this business falls in between (closer to the former). I have noticed, though, that you get the best results when you are very specific with the threaders with what you want. They don't have as good of a sense of the shape of brows determinate on your face shape, but when you tell them what you want they do a good job. I got threaded at 12 noon on June 11. It is the 19th today and there is barely any regrowth. I just looked at it now... my right brow area has 5 hairs of regrowth and the left has 3. June 11 was first time i got threaded. i have not touched my brows in months and literally was sporting Oscar the Grouch's brows by this time. I can get my own eyebrows perfect but it takes me hours to get there and with a newborn, that is no longer doable. Hubby watched the kid and I made a run to this place while he slept. I went in and there was 1 threader and 1 receptionist. She asked me what I wanted ... natural...arched... or thick... I said I wanted it like hers... or like the eyebrow on their logo. It turned out to be neither but came out with really nice eyebrows. We gotta keep in mind that i have super long asian eyebrows that sweep down and grow from all sorts of directions. Hairs were flying everywhere especially on top of my nose and my lips. Threading felt like a rubber band rolling on my skin that was catching hair in it. Some tugging but understandable because the diameter of my hairs are so very thick and greater than the average person's. She handed me the mirror several times because about 5 times I had her do more to it until it was to my liking. She also had to use the tiny scissor because like i said, the hairs are super long and if they were removed instead of cut, there would be a long diagonal bald spot on my brows. i know she broke a sweat with my brows so i also got my lip threaded too (easy work for her). i think lip hurts more than brows but glad i got it done. she also threaded my forehead for free without asking me because it's really fuzzy. she would agree it would look funny not to thread the forehead because the area around my brows were so clean. i give her a 4 start because 1) my brow shape was not any more than what i could sculpt myself, in terms of shape, but i loved how clean it was in such a short amount of time 2) i did not get the temple massage everyone was speaking of here on yelp. she only wiped me several times with a dry powdery Kleenex tissue. she may have done the massage had there not been a walk-in who sat down and waited for her turn. as i said, there was only 1 threader at the time. $10 brows $ 5 lip $ 3 tip $ 18 total My husband loved it and says I need to be going there regularly. Ok, I said. Not complaining there. Best part was that I did not have a bad skin reaction. With waxing, I would get an ingrown/cyst on the waxed area that would be there forever. I love this place! I've been going to Dolly's off Miramar for a couple of years now but several months ago the girl working on my brows there CUT me with the thread. She didn't even say anything about it so I didn't really notice it until I was leaving. Not fun to have a scab above your eye for a month. Not cool. So I'd been hesitant to return to Dolly's even though I'm a converted threader (no more waxing for me!). I was pretty excited to see a new threading place pop up in Scripps Ranch. Grace's is fantastic. Each time I go in, the lady (one of the owners...not sure if it's Grace) really spends her time talking about the process and what I want from it. She stops a few times throughout to ensure I'm happy with her work. Very impressed with how attentive they are there and it really seems like they want to make the customer happy and not rush anything. And the best part of the whole experience? The five-minute mini-massage at the end on your temples and eye area. So amazing! They're also more affordable than anywhere else I've found in San Diego, at $10 for brows (though that might go up to $12 as it seems to be a grand opening price...but it's been steady at $10 since they opened a few months back). Haven't done any other services there yet, but they do facials and such as well. Definitely worth checking out! And conveniently located right off the 15 and next to a Trader Joe's (in a large parking lot, I might add) so easy to do shopping on the same trip. I've been getting facials here every month for about a year now & since then my skin has improved dramatically. They use natural products by Dr. Schwab. My mom & I haven't found a brand that's works as well for our skin than this so we bought a bunch of his products to use on a daily basis. I usually get the acne facial ($30 for students) which is very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend Heidi, she's so sweet, makes you feel comfortable, give great tips on keeping your skin healthy, removes all blackheads (while making sure not to scar your skin) & will basically work wonders on your face. I've been here once before and had an alright result, and same for my recent visit. I went back because it was a few doors down from where I work so it was just out of convenience and price ($10). The lady asked how I wanted it and I said naturally arched and specifically told her to get rid of the horrendous top points of my eyebrows because it throws the shape off and makes them look so thick. I was worried because she concentrated on the stray hairs at the bottom of my brows instead of the area I wanted gone. I was left with a clean bottom brow but alas, my area of concern was barely touched. I asked her to thin it out more but it still looked like she didn't do anything. Maybe if I asked her to do it a third time, it would've looked better but I didn't want to keep bugging her. Meh. I initially wanted to go to Beauty by Dolly because I like how they thread but I had a rude lady that ruined my last visit. I felt so relieved when I found Grace Threading. I have been coming here every month for over three years now and I am very pleased. I started off with my arch in the wrong place and holes in my eyebrows. After training my hair to grow how I want it to with the help of the ladies of Grace Threading, I am finally satisfied with my eyebrows. I now have the higher arch I've been wanting and my hair growth is very slow and natural. The girls seem very nice here and I like the little massage they do at the end, but this place is frustratingly inconsistent. My brows for the third time is uneven and the shaping is not what I'm looking for. One brow is clearly a lot thinner than the other and I always have to make sure they do not miss any hair which they do on occassion. I don't have much hair and I just simply wanted a clean up and to even it out again. Sadly, this will be my last visit and I'm leaving again very unhappy with the look of my brows. read more

I had my brows done here for the first time. I've been shopping at the Trader Joe's, in the same parking lot, for a very long time and this place is typically pretty busy. I'd consider this the "fast food" of hair removal. It's efficient, inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. It's a good place to go when you need a quick clean-up and don't have time to make a spa appointment. I didn't have to wait long - only about 2 minutes. Was seated in their reclining chair and she went to work. What I liked: - It's only $10, before tip (which must be paid in cash) - It's fast - I didn't need an appointment and could just walk in without a wait What I didn't love: - The chair tips back and the therapist kept having me sit up to look in the mirror. It was like an awkward rocking chair experience. - She kept commenting on the "horrible" waxing job I previously had. (It really wasn't that bad). If I wanted her opinion, I would have asked it. I was aware it had been awhile since I'd had my brows done and I really didn't want to have a conversation about it. Tips: - I've seen them VERY busy right before a big holiday, so it would be good to call ahead a make an appointment. - They offer quick chair massages.
