Really high quality course, transparent pricing and easy to schedule. You don't want to waste your time with other places offering classes for cheaper in Louisville. Trust me. I used to be an American Heart Association, BLS (Basic Life Support) & HeartSaver Instructor. I taught the course regularly to new employees and folks needing recertification. Then, I transitioned into a marketing role, stopped training so regularly and (stupidly) allowed my certification to lapse. Flash forward to early 2021. The pandemic reminded me that I loved being in the trenches and missed direct care with patients. I decided to go back to school for nursing and applied to work at a hospital as a patient care assistant. Every Healthcare system I can think of pays you to keep your BLS or ACLS updated once you're an established employee ... but (probably due to the high cost of training, and high turnover in healthcare), many require you to have your own certification prior to employment. That was the case with me. I got offered the job, and I needed to find a class, quickly. If you know me, well, you know I'm frugal. I love a good deal. I was annoyed that I could've paid the five dollars to keep my certification, but now was staring down around $90 out of pocket, and for something I used to teach. (palm to face emoji). I called just about every place the internet and Yelp said taught CPR in Louisville, to price compare. Many people suggest the fire department, but give them a try, and you'll see that they are so busy training their own recruits, they rarely have time for community classes. I found some place that claimed to be over in jeffersonville, but I couldn't find the storefront, and they stopped returning my phone calls. Very shady. Another place on Bardstown Rd gave me hope. They had me do the online certification, then schedule the skill out with them. Joke was on me. My Scout got canceled due to Covid, and they refused to give me a refund when they offered a new date, two weeks past my hospital start date. So, I circled back to this other company, CPR Louisville. To be 100% honest, I wish I had just gone with them from jump. Yes, the price of the class was a tad higher than their competitors advertised, but as you just read you get what you pay for. The CPR Louisville's website is extremely transparent and easy to navigate. They tell you exactly what class is offered when, and don't make you call or guess what the cost is. I needed a class ASAP, so I scheduled for an in person Saturday morning and left the same day with my certification card. The location was easy to find. Parking was free and safe. Class started on time. All materials were provided. Each participant had their own mannequin and equipment to practice with. They go in depth, and have a deeper sense of critical thinking and real life application then your every day instructor, because most of them either work currently, or have experience as firefighters, EMS, or other first responders. They guarantee that you will pass the class. If you're struggling, they will work with you until you get it. You'll leave the same day with the code to claim your card via the American Heart Association website. Lastly, they offered two extra things that I think set them apart. 1) go to the website and you'll notice they sometimes offer enrollment specials/discounts. 2) they track your certification and text you when your certification is nearing expiration. Now that I'm back working bedside, my hospital provides my biannual recertification, so I don't need their services anymore. But, I recommend them to friends and nursing students so often that I decided it was probably time to write a review. Five stars, for sure.

This particular day and class was booked several months in advance and was supposed to be used as a paid educational time off for work. With such short notice, it made it very difficult to justify the day off for work and the time window was too narrow to use PTO. This is very inconvenient and unprofessional, as well as disrespectful to the client's time. I hope CPR Louisville can hire additional staff to sub for emergencies. Thanks.

Southern high school is a magnet career high school in the Jefferson county public schools system…read morelocated off Preston Highway in the Okolona area of Louisville Kentucky. This purple and white wearing institution has a mascot of "Trojans" and was built in 1951. At one point southern was considered to have one of the top machine tool and die programs in the whole area. Being an alumni of southern graduating in the class of 2002 I can say that in my 4 years there I produced some great memories, met some life long friends (including my current wife) and had a really good time. I was pretty active in my time at a southern as I played 3 sports (football, wrestling, and track) and was involved in a various of clubs such as beta club and national honors society. During my time frame at the school the graduating classes were in the several hundreds. So in my 4 years being involved in all those activities with essentially 7 different graduating classes I probably interacted with close to a thousand different people. Like any school Southern is a place that you will get what you put into it. It's not considered a school for high academic excellence. But it is achievable. I feel like I made the most out of my time at the school and because of that I have long lasting memories and a better overall reaction to my time at the school. The school itself is quite large. Has two gymnasiums attached to the school, a large newly (built in the 90s I believe) renovated automotive department and 3 stories/floors full of classrooms. Well 4 floors if you count that historic and borderline mythical 4th floor that is gated off. I'm not sure about today's students but back in my day for several years there was all kinds of crazy rumors of what was up there. From a swimming pool, to a teachers smoking lounge there was all kinds of crazy and wild rumors. I've actually been up there. It's literally maybe 1-2 classrooms (it's been 20 years so some details escape me) full of old school supplies and a ladder that pops you up to the flat rooftop. And No! There isn't a pool up there. As stated already I enjoyed my time at the school. I'm not sure southern will ever be noted for a long list of famous alumni (super bowl mvp Phil Simms) and will never be a place you send a kid strictly to achieve a higher education. But the opportunity can be created. I'm personally fortunate enough to send my kids to private schools to try and set them up for higher education with better resources. However as stated, there are kids who don't take advantage of those programs. So it really does depend on the individual to make the most of there academic situation. I'll end this review the same way the former long time principal and principal during my time Jerry Keepers use to end his morning announcements. "Have a great Southern Day".

Now, fights happen more frequently and my daughter said they won't kick anyone out due to "no student left behind". That has nothing to do with bad behavior kids, and that is for kids who have bad grades. Besides that, when your child signs up for the traditional program, you sign a contract that you essentially are going to be more involved with your child. It also explains behavior expectations. 2 of the fights last week, a student was jabbed with an object. One if the fight was a kid being jumped by a group of others. The principal this year does not communicate like the principal last year. If he does, I would like to know how. I haven't received an email or text, about this problem. I guess they aren't going to address it to the parents. I even asked the PTSA group about this issue and can't get a response. If you are considering this school, be aware it is not the same if you once attended years ago. Giving 3 stars since I would rate our other public schools 1-2. Jefferson County Public Schools is horrible, in my experience.

A friend and I went to the 7pm showing of "TMI: Sex Education". It was hilarious! The show is…read moregeared toward middle school students and teaching them the basics of sex education in a funny, light-hearted manner. I was hoping it would be a little more risque, but since they received a grant to use the show in schools they have to keep it clean. The show features a classroom of puppet students who are all embarrassed to be learning about sex ed. We laughed a ton as the puppet teacher made the puppets and the audience repeat different sex terms! The puppetteers did a great job with voices, timing and manipulating the puppets! The venue for the show is in the Highland Community Center on Breckenridge St. If you look at the building from the outside you will see it is an old church. It is very charming and has loads of character. When the church population dwindled they looked for tenants to help with the building costs. That's how the Squallis Puppetteers found their place. The "Hall of Puppets" has some of their VERY large puppets and is on the second story of the building, available for you to go and see/take pics with. It has some awesome puppets, including a huge Hunter S. Thompson that was part of Forecastle Festival! The music for "TMI" was done by Jim James, of My Morning Jacket. He is apparently a good friend of the puppet masters and it made the show even cooler! (MMJ also recorded a record in the same building-fyi) I asked about the Squallis Puppetteers adding a more adult-themed show and they said they have had several similar requests. I'm hoping they are able to do so because I know it would be spectacular! It's a cheap $5 way to have a few laughs and feel like a kid while watching a puppet show!

Pretty grand and imposing Community College right in the heart of Louisville which overlooks the YMCA where I work out, so I always end up stopping in here or meeting people from here or even working out with people from here for one reason or another. It takes up most of the parking around here but that's okay. It's a nice old building and if I was going to go to Community College I'd like to come to a place like this for sure. It actually legit deadass looks like a university which is why it's so cool and it's right in the heart of everything in this small city.
