I'm so impressed that they had so many options for groceries, varieties of cheeses & great customer service. I decided to try a cup of "luau Larry's. not so famous homemade chili." The very nice and friendly lady working in the store said that "luau Larry" is her husband. Let me tell you, he makes an amazingly fine chili.... For a 'cup" of chili, it was huge! I enjoyed it very much. I found out that the chili is made with ribeye! It was delicious. It was Hearty, it had a deep rich flavor, and it had a nice little "kick" to it. Well, within what I like for spicy. The lady in the store did tell me that Larry "tweaks" the recipe a little bit from time to time, but she says it's always a great chili. I do not doubt that at all. She asked me if I wanted cheese and onions, and I said, of course! I love fresh purple onions. They are both sweeter and milder than the white or yellow onions. They really added to the chili, as did the cheese. The chili and a soda ran me about 11 bucks. A little bit high, sure, but this is a tiny town up in the middle of the mountains. I get it. Besides, for the quantity and quality, it was worth every single penny. I would come back just for another cup of that chili. Thanks.

What a cute little co op store!…read more I was hiking the PCT, and came by Quincy to do some resupply. We had the afternoon available, and my friend and I love co op stores. They had a lot of great items including fresh produce, bulk bin nuts/seeds/granola, and refreshing drinks for a hot day! We visited on a Monday in the last week of June and found this place to be nice and quiet. We felt it was safe to leave our packs outside, and no one messed with our stuff while we went in to purchase some food! They also had tables outside, perfect for hikers to grab food to sit down and eat! I had also just gotten a tattoo at a music festival nearby and wanted something handy, they had tube's of Buddha butter, which I loved! I ended up using the Buddha butter as lip balm for the rest of the trail. This spot also had some to go coffee and individually wrapped pastries as well. Including tea! Overall, the staff were super friendly and this place is stocked with a lot of great produce and drinks, which I crave often. Everything is a bit pricier than a typically grocery store though, so perhaps a resupply here isn't the most feasible, but still great to pick up a few small items. If I was in the area, I would visit again!

I have not stopped at the Mark for quite a few years. I knew the original owners but the business has been under the current ownership for a while. I stopped there believing I could buy fishing supplies, but they did not have what I wanted. I asked politely if I could use their bathroom, and I was told the bathrooms were for "customers only." My reply was, "I walked in here as a potential customer, but I found out you no longer carry what I wanted to buy." The lady I was having this conversation with answered me with, "Cleaning supplies cost money, baby. The bathrooms are for customers only." That reply was inappropriate and unexpected. Good thing I had another 10-12 minutes more driving time. I am thankful it wasn't a child or someone who may have been in dire need of using the bathroom, the closest rest area is about 20 minutes away. I was perplexed at the attitude of the owners, knowing that I was a potential customer, I was non-threatening, and I was polite. I walked out like I walked in, but I will never stop there again. If I could give this business "0" stars, I would.

More and more frequently the dairy is past it's expiration date. I've thrown out multiple…read morecontainers of yogurt and sour cream days after getting home because I didn't realize it expired weeks ago. Additionally, the self check out "call attendant" buttons don't work. This according to the store workers and from my own experience. This wouldn't be a problem is the self checkout would reliably take credit cards. The freezer also seems to go out often as frozen food is sometimes thawed. The staff is helpful and friendly but I'm tired of always making sure my food isn't expired. And worrying how long the frozen food has been thawed out.
