Staff: The folks here were all nice. Quality: This is a cute store with a lot of products. I was very surprised how much they carry. To my knowledge the only store near the area we stayed in, which kind of cool for them. Value: Prices are higher due to being the only game in town. It isn't terrible but you can tell. I don't care as they have literally everything and I like supporting small independent businesses. Overall: This store has a really small town feeling which is endearing. Great store with a lot of selection. Price of items are on the higher end but again not a lot of options close by. Line gets long towards the end of the day as it closes early. The 3rd register is often closed out early which only leaves two cash registers. Staff often argue about closing the 3rd one out early (" you did that last time!"- shouted to another staff member) Plenty of parking. Shared with other stores within the plaza. This little general market has one of the best meat counters ever for such a small store. The staff is kind and always friendly and even tho it's small the line moves fast. They have all the basics here, obviously it's a small general store so it's not WinCo prices but i find it to be a great town store with everything you need and more. This historic grocery store has been in business since 1918. The decor has a nostalgic vibe and even hosts original hardwood floors placed when the town was a booming mill town. Just a wonderful find! They carry local and organic fruits and vegetables and a wonderful selection of everyday essentials. We were thankful to find this historic grocery store. We were driving through town looking for a nice place to have lunch-however during the winter - not much is open. However---we found goodies to put together a Charcuterie board. This is a great little market and should have just about anything you may need if you forgot something for your camping trip in the surrounding area. Only reason I knocked off a star is due to extremely high pricing, which is somewhat expected in this part of the Plumas forest. I've never felt so blatantly judged or watched since I set foot into this small convenience store. Upon entry I already felt her glaring eye beams watching my partner and I's every move. She didn't offer the same courtesy to the other patrons (who I assume are local to the town). After we walked around for I kid you not, 15 seconds, she shouts "What are you looking for?!" This is the general store for Graeagle. The current hours are Mon-Sat 8:30-6:00 and Sun from 9:00-5:00. They pretty much have everything you'd need as long as they're stocked. It is pricier than the traditional supermarket, but that's the price you pay when there isn't much else around within walking distance. They have liquor as well as lotto, fresh meat and vegetables; a small array of frozen items are available: frozen dinners, veggies, pizza, etc. spices, canned items and pet food is also available. Cute country store and claims to be "world famous". I hope it's not for their unfriendliness. Checker was very nice to the elderly, seeming local woman in front of me but was curt and rude to me. It was obvious I was looking for something and walking in circles to do so. Waited in line to ask for help. Never really got acknowledged with a hello or how can I help. Didn't even respond to my greeting, just pointed and said on top of freezer when I said hello and asked where something was. When I checked out, no thank you, no have a nice day was uttered In fact- nothing was said. As a shopkeeper myself, in a small & friendly tourist town, this is just the little itty bitty thing that can turn you off to a place. Thankfully there's other businesses that are friendlier to visitors. I'll keep coming to town twice a year, but maybe not here. read more

The bad news is that they take FULL advantage of 'mountain pricing,' and you'll pay 30%-50% more than if you'd brought it from home. Terrible attitude and terrible customer service. This old gray haired cashier needs a lesson in manners. We've been here numerous times, and this is our first interaction with this psycho. Rude, sarcastic, and completely asinine. If you have a sign for a line, put it somewhere people can see it, not in the isle genius. If she's the owner, her store should be foreclosed on. I understand they cater to the locals, but it's the tourists that help your business survive. You should be ashamed of yourself. I'd rather shop at the chevron then give this POS anymore of my money. I am not sure if it was grouchy, bored or just plain old "I have been here too dang long." We decided to mix up our luck after not winning Mega Millions from Gold Ranch. (OK we knew the odds, but still) So we decided to travel to Hallelujah Junction, buy a few tickets for Power Ball. Then through Graeagle to find a few more lucky tickets. It was at this stop where the woman in the Graeagle Store was overly dramatic about the impact of us buying tickets there. First she rolled her eyes when we asked for 10 tickets each, then stated loudly to "get ready for the Power Ball rush" like it would be a bad thing. We were in the area for about 15 minutes and we were the only customers that entered the store. I smiled and wished her good luck and a great day. Of course she rolled her eyes again and grunted at me, but it gave the man that also was working (maybe her husband) a great laugh. The business that sells the winning ticket also gets $1,000,000 so I was really hoping to send this mom and pop into retirement. (Relief) read more

It all started when Grandpa John Burton built his house in 1959 long before the golf course in plumas pines. He was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love for these mountains with his family. His son my dad, Randy Burton, loved these mountains as much as anyone. Grandma used to tell us a story about dad and his brother Rick getting into mischief together and Colonel lundy of lundy lane had to bring them home to be spanked with a belt after they shot out all the lights at the boys camp with lundys rife. I have been a baby in my mom's arms at the graeagle store and as an adult am so proud to have our black garlic on their shelves! And more recently the Co-op , Our little buisness ( Pine Cone Kitchen)has bloomed these last few months and it has been an incredible, sentimental, journey for my family! Graeagle will forever be the place where it all started! I treasure these roads,ridges & pines and just love all our awesome neighbors in the best little community in all of the high Sierras. Since as long as can remeber I have always valued good food for bringing good people together and have been passionate about the culinary arts as a little kid, for me to contribute culinarily to this Community is so special....i often wish i could celebrate our success with them but i know dad and grandpa are looking down with pride! Rudest cashier I've ever encountered!! My husband forgot his mask so I went inside and asked if the surgical mask on the counter are free and she said NO! I went to the line and once I reached the register her mask was below her nose.... I asked "do you require a mask?" She said "Yes we do"and I said "so you choose not to wear it correctly?!" The mask were open so it wasn't very sanitary to begin with and to charge $3.86 for two is ridiculous!! The State was giving businesses free mask to provide for employees and customers but apparently they aren't making enough money with charging $8.00 for a case of water!!! The Graeagle Store is an authentic old town General Store that has been in operation at this location since 1918. It still retains that old town general store feel and ambiance. It's worth taking a stroll through the store if you are in Graeagle . . . (pronounced "Gray Eagle") . . . just for the experience, even if you aren't planning to make a purchase. However, as it is really the only option in Graeagle for groceries, I suspect that you'll be making a purchase of some needed item when you visit. I certainly come into the store every time I'm in town . . . milk for coffee . . . a couple bottles of wine, . . . and the usual supplies for sustenance . . . bread, fruit, veggies, meats, cheese and crackers, supplies for s'mores, etc. etc. etc. This general store has been here going back to the days that the old lumber mill was operational, before it burned to the ground several decades ago. What remained after the lumber mill burned sat for many years until the land was purchased by a developer, then the mill's remaining other structures and 'out buildings' were relocated along Highway 89 to form what is now downtown Graeagle, and the area was developed as a mountain village community. Today, the town of Graeagle retains much of it's historic charm, but also is a great place to visit the Sierra while avoiding the traffic, and stressful hustle and bustle of the Lake Tahoe area. Graeagle is a much more relaxed and small town environment. If you're like me, you'll love it here, and prefer it to the stress of a visit to Lake Tahoe's buzz. The Graeagle Store is situated on Highway 89, next to the old mill pond, and is within an easy walking distance to nearly all of the other little shops of "downtown" Graeagle, with it's rows of many charming old red and white structures, with green shingle roofs, that line both sides of Highway 89 where it intersects with the middle fork of the Feather River. On a mission to find postcards for my penpals and since Nakoma didn't have any they recommended this place. Boy, this was a blast from the past! This is the pure definition of a mom and pop shop. There was a small selection of pretty much anything you might need to get here but at a premium price. That's what happens when you need something in the sticks. I was thrilled to find one postcard design that I bought in multiples. The lady running the cashier was super sweet and chatty. That kind of friendliness just isn't found very often anymore and I loved it. read more

This place is like stepping back in time. The tiny parking lot. The old signs everywhere welcoming you to the quaint town of Graeagle. The pond area that meets up with the parking lot is cute and adds to the picturesque scene. Inside they had smiling cashiers, a butcher who told a patron that she could only get short ribs on certain occasions and a selection of last minute necessities or things you didn't know you needed until you saw them. The last items are what I love about these places - camoflague fishing hats, winter gloves, tshirts with a Graeagle logo and snacks I haven't seen in years. This is like a candy store, grocery store and clothing store all wrapped into one. I love it. I also loved the kind cashier who was as happy to ring me up as she was to wish me a happy day and offer up tourism advice. Adds to the hometown feel of the town. A must stop - even if you just grab something to drink and wander through the small shop. read more

Allright, if you MUST come, here's my advice: bring all your supplies with you. If you forget something, like tp, the Graeagle Store will be happy to sell it to you for $6 a roll. Ka-Chingg!! But you gotta wipe, right? They don't sell Delaware Punch anymore, but that's ok. They haven't changed another iota since 1975. The last time I bought a sixer here I came home with a puppy. If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible employees. After many bad experiences with this store my boyfriend and I went in there today to get some ice I had my dog with me and we went into the store. As soon as I walk in there's a woman paying at the front counter with a dog in her hands so I picked my dog up and went to get in line. I'm standing in line as the woman leaves the counter with her dog on the ground and goes towards the back of the store. The cashier(old woman) looks at me a andtells me there's no dogs allowed in the store. I look at the other dog and I say "like that one?" And she then tells me that woman is "the owner of the town". Whatever that means, and then looks at me again and motions me towards the door with her head while giving us a dirty look. Then carries the conversation with the customer behind me saying, "she owns the town she can do what she wants". That was an absolute twilight zone experience. That lady needs help. read more

We own property here and have for over 20 years. We have only really been to the store a handful of times . We went into the store before 9am for 2 items. I consider ourselves to be very courteous and polite. The lady at the register was simply just rude. We asked if they would be making more coffee as it was still on the burner but close to empty. Without skipping a beat she simply said "no". We asked if she knew of any place near that is open and again, "at the end of the road". We thanked her, paid and left. Normally we are fully stocked when we come up which is every weekend/Holidays & summer but being First Responders and the current situation we jumped at our first chance to get away and head to our 2nd home but forgot coffee. We left the store and simply thought it was us. Later our adult kids went to check on fishing info. She was short with them and simply stated "I don't fish". They described her and how extremely rude she was to them as well. It's a shame that this gal represents the store and lacks customer service, tact and overall common courtesy. read more

Love the store and I do understand how wearing a mask all day is difficult....but, staff are around a rotating group of tourists from all over every day. As a local I cringe when I see an employee's mask around their neck only or a mask with their nose exposed. They should be protecting themselves and others by wearing their mask properly. read more

An oasis of supplies when in the Lakes Basin area, the Graeagle Store on the main drag of Hwy. 89, is the way to restock the cooler, tackle box etc. with country store staples. Nice booze selection, next to the Mill Pond for a quick dip and the only game in town. read more
