It had so much flavor in it mmmm! My husband loved his goat meat he didn't leave behind a single thing, cleaned the whole plate...at his fufu and then some of mine. Service/ambiance: They are the sweetest people you'll ever meet. It was obvious we didn't know anything about the menu and several people approached us to help us get something they think we would like. Didn't even feel like we were eating out but instead eating at a friend's or family's house. We went a bit late so I think people were getting off work and it was clear that this place feels like home for everyone because they were coming just to hang out and eat. Such a lovely place and the best fufu I tried (after eating it I tried it at another few spots just for the comparison - no one could compare).

From the minute I walked in, I knew that the odds would most likely be in my favor. First of all there are two huge portraits of the female proprietess and her husband flanking the cash register, in full Asante regalia. Which totally made me feel like I was in someone's living room looking at their mantle, versus at a restaurant. But it added a touch of culture and a huge sense of pride. There was a older man waiting for food, staring at the big screen tv, DANCING to the music. This is a great sign! Do you know how good this food is about to be, because I do, if it makes Papa DANCE!!! Oh yeah, I was getting excited. There was a fridge stocked FULL TO THE BRIM and spilling over onto the floor of every soda, both American and African, plus several types of beer. To me this read as "yup, you gone be thirsty after this FIYAHHHHHH"! And they weren't wrong! My food came out piping hot, relatively quickly, and paired with warm water for hand washing! Not every African restaurant is this traditional, so I again, knew it was about to go down!!!!! I would get into a lengthy description of the groundnut soup but that would waste more of your time reading, instead of driving, STRAIGHT TO Afrikiko!!! I will say that the side of spinach that I requested was so smooth and tomatoey and robust with flavor, that I was thoroughly surprised. I was expecting just a side of sautéed spinach, maybe a bit of onion or garlic, but that damn spinach was soooooo good I almost licked the bowl. If I could give 10 stars I would! This place will make me drive from Dallas yall! And you should too! Worth every single penny I spent! Thanks Afrikiko!

I have not even eaten here yet and I will tell you ALL to STAY FAR FAR AWAY…read more As in... F. A. R. AFTER SPENDING ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WEEKEND MOVING OUR THINGS, I AND MY HUSBAND AND MY BROTHER AND HIS FIANCEE WERE EXTREMELY HUNGRY AROUND 8 P.M. AFTER NOT EATING ALL DAY. I go on doordash and see this restaurant. Of course, being Nigerian, we wanted good Nigerian food and there aren't many that are offered on doordash nor did we have the strength to make any NAIJA dishes at 8p.m. at night. So, we ordered our food for dishes... Okra soup, vegetable soup, jollof rice and another okra soup. My order was complete and processed around 8:19 pm. We go drive to get some water to pass the time and an hour had exhausted... Well, an hour and like 5 minutes... WHICH they said my order would be ready at 9:19. A lady calls shouting (Yoruba for whispering) asking if I was who I was and then further proceeded to tell me that our order had not been fulfilled yet... I'm looking puzzled like... What EXACTLY does that mean... And after I asked for clarification she has the AUDACITY to tell me that not only has the order not been fulfilled, the order had not even been MADE yet... As innnnnnnnnnm... Not even MADE. THIS IS OVER AN HOUR LATER AND THE ORDER HAD NOT EVEN BEEN STARTED YET. if you think that didn't have audacity written all over it already... They further had the NERVE to ask me to wait an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes to an HOUR for my order. Now come on... if you know what HUNGER does... Then surely you know what being hangry does to somebody. And I'm the POSTER child of HANGER. P I. S. S. E. D. That word does not even describe the HEAT that was coming from my body. BECAUSE OF THE RED THAT WAS SHOWING IN MY EYES... We opted for some pizza... (even though I'm lactose intolerance and really can't have white bread...) Just so I can have SOMETHING in my belly... I will... I repeat and EMPHATICALLY... I will NEVER order from this restaurant EVER again in LIFE and I will LITERALLY advise ANYONE that I know and love to NEVER do so. (IT'S ONLY AAAAAAAFTERWARDS THAT MY HUSBAND TOLD ME HE TRIED TO ORDER FROM THIS PLACE BEFORE AND IT TOOK THEM 2 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES TO FULFILL HIS ORDER... SMH LIFE!) it's a shame.

I had the jollof Rice, vegetables, plantains, and mixed meat…read more This plate was so fresh... I wish I would have left him a bigger tip..

They always have a sample of the Golden Bowl for anyone to taste & it's absolutely my go to dish. All the ingredients work well together in this Golden Bowl. The chicken, jollof rice, veggies, the sweet of the plantain with the spice in the curry makes for a delightfully seasoned bowl. I will admit the spice made my nose run but yet I would only describe it as a "subtle" spicy dish. One day I'll try another dish but for now. That golden bowl speaks to me everytime. I had leftovers & even the next day my taste buds got happy all over again! Never had Nigerian West African food or had it somewhere else, try it here, it's delightful!! Don't forget, they have a brick & mortar restaurant in Montrose. I have been... YET!

Takeout order of Golden Bowl (added shrimp along with the chicken) and small Hibiscus tea (40$ish). Packed neatly for your home/office enjoying pleasure. The motherland curry is placed in a separate plastic container and the jollof jambalaya, curry, plantains, chicken & shrimp packed tightly like a little gift. Dish was enough for two meals; super flavorful. I'd definitely like to try them again not on a go.

Such a delicious meal in every single bite with each bite being full of moisture and consistency too. The drumsticks had a slightly crispy exterior, really tender flesh, very juicy to almost falling off the bone feel to them. They were cooked thoroughly without being dried or burnt. That spicy, oily red sauce was so aromatic with just enough kick to it. It wasn't creamy, but not too watery either. The Jollof rice was smoky, savory, buttery and a little spicy. The greens had a subtle ingredient in them and complimented the rest with some earthiness, while the plantains were like a mini dessert. The plantains were very good with a really soft, creamy texture, good warmth and natural sweetness. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. This poultry dish is a real treat every time with every flavor profile in play satisfying multiple pallets.

Every bite was tasteful and I loved the sweetness & firmness of the plantains. I will visit again to try the goat & oxtail next time.
