I placed a pickup order through DoorDash yesterday at 5:31pm and never received any food. When we got there at 6:00pm the owner said they were closed due to a catering order and that he canceled the order on DoorDash even though it said on the app that it wasn't, we went back and showed him and he assured us it wasn't canceled and then drove off. When I woke up this morning and checked DoorDash it said that the order was picked up at 7:37pm and my card was charged $60, which is honestly too much for 2 soups and 2 appetizers. Also on top of that the location was sketchy, had no visible signage, and was dirty. Would not recommend this place at all if I could give negative stars I would. read more

Went for dinner and it was everything I expected and more! The owners are a sweet couple who provided great service and were very helpful with the menu. I shared the fufu with egusi soup with stewed goat added, the Stewed Hen, Moin Moin, & Jollof Rice, and the meat pie with a friend and it was plenty for both of us. The fufu with egusi soup was super delicious with a spicy kick that I loved (7/10) . The plate was the star of the meal. Everything from the stewed hen, to the rice, to the greens were all so well seasoned and I truly enjoyed every bite (8.5/10). The meat pie was also delicious with a savory filling and the pastry was thick and buttery but surprisingly not overbearing considering the pastry to filling ratio (8/10). This food is TOP TIER! Wonderful flavors and temperature is perfect. We had a commute home and food was still hot. The gentleman that answered the phone gave great service and directions. We even asked for extra red sauce for the Jollof rice and the woman cooking was very accommodating. I ordered in Uber eats and I just wasn't impressed. I tried a lot of things from them and nothing was bad but nothing was like yes this is home and I'll order again. The egusi was pretty salty and could use more greens but the beef was very tender. There was only 2 pieces of beef though. The pounded ham was the instant stuff and tasted and felt like mashed potatoes from a box mix. The fried rice was soooooo oily. My goodness there was a pool at the bottom of the container so I moved the rice to a new container and there was still so much left. The hen was very tough and the red stew it was in was very tangy and not spicy at all like they didn't cook it long enough. The meat pie was good. Pricing was ok but I've had better. read more

So I placed an order on Monday, May 19th through the information provided on Google which states that they are open. 30 minutes later I received an email stating they are closed and we would need to get a refund from the Square app, Square in turn stated that the restaurant would have to issue the refund. Now here it is Thursday, May 22 and I just received a text stating that they will not refund, but instead we can purchase from them. We had already purchased elsewhere on Monday and just wanted our money back. I called and whomever answered the phone refused to settle with the refund and told us to contact Square whom they don't use any longer but still have them on their Google search page to place orders through, nor do they have updated information as to location and hours of operation. I really hate to take legal actions and force a resolution including an additional settlement amount beyond my $50 refund reimbursement, but at this point I'll do what's needed. read more

The health dept needs to shut this place down!!! You're not allowed to wait inside for your food and you have to call the order in and wait in your car because they don't want you to see how unsanitary the food prep is. Got delivery so can't comment on the ambience but the food arrived promptly and hot. We got - goat head stew, jollof rice, black bean porridge with plantains. Portions were ample. We have never eaten Nigerian food and so can't compare or comment on authenticity, but we really enjoyed the food - the stew was rich and tasty, the porridge fresh-tasting, and the jollof rice delicious. When the food is good, the location doesn't matter. It's in a little strip mall area inside. It gives kind of a dining hall feel. The staff is excellent very warm and inviting I know that they are moving soon, so I'm not sure what the new location is yet. The food is so good. I never even get a picture because I'm just ready to eat. I have vegan versions of a lot of food. My favorite is the egusi and fufu, it's spicy and flavorful, and I don't feel like I'm eating vegan egusi I am missing nothing from the egusi I used to have when I was not vegan. 10/10. They jolloff rice perfect, seasoned flavorful, perfect spice, I always ordered a plate. It comes with plantains and spinach both which are delicious 9.8 out of 10. I love puff puff is the perfect little doughnut with just a hint of sweetness 8/10. I have also had the Zobo and the passion lemonade. Both are delicious. I love the taste and spice of the Zobo 9/10 regardless of where they move they are definitely worth the drive. read more

I am surprised I didn't review this place yet, since, around 2.5 years ago, I had one of the best Goat Head curry at this joint with an amazing side of Jollof rice, which had left an ever lasting memory of a great food story, I will love to tell people , about my first experience with Nigerian cuisine, nothing short of OUTSTANDING! But that being said, I know exactly why after those 2.5 years, recently when we were in Pf, we were deciding on where to eat lunch and this place was recommended by my wife, to please our taste buds and starving bellies. And let me tell you, we were not disappointed, we walked in and were greeted by the loving warm smile of the owner and chef of the establishment, who happened to remember us from 2.5 years ago. Now, that doesn't happen every day. But maybe it was also from the fact that my wife left a 5 star review of the place from our visit 5 years ago from that excellent experience we still talk about. This time, I ordered the goat curry, & let me tell you, I ditched the silverware, and started to enjoy the Jollof (mind blowing) and the goat curry with my hands (best way to eat this food). You can taste the love, joy and care that the food has been infused with. The goat curry was definitely slow cooked, since it was super tender and extremely flavorful. Okay so this was my first time trying fufu and okra soup and I have to say that it was AMAZING. The venue kinda confused me because of the pictures in reviews compared to what I got when I drove up. I had to call to make sure I had the right address because it took me to a Uber/DoorDash hub. I guess the restaurant was originally located in Austin (the pictures in other reviews) but when they relocated to Houston they got a spot at the hub. Another hidden gem in the Pflugerville area. As I am watching my husband devour his goat head stew, I absolutely felt the need to open up Yelp and start typing up this review. Fabaceae African Cuisine is located in an unassuming strip behind Pizza Hutt off of Pecan street. This place can be easy to miss, but thank goodness for Yelp! The interior decor is simple and efficient, but as soon as you enter, you are greeted with a huge smile and you immediately get an at-home vibe. Since we are somewhat adventurous eaters, my husband promptly went for the Isiewu, or goat head stew. As a fan of goat meat myself, I ordered the Jollof rice platter with fried plantains, sautéed bitter greens and a choice of goat meat. Let me just say that the lady in the kitchen (who came out many times to greet us and then to find out just how spicy we wanted our food) definitely knows what she is doing. I can only imagine what it would've been like growing up in her household with such amazing smelling food. The goat head stew was simply divine. We asked for spicy, and she delivered, without comprimising on other flavors. It came topped with flavorful greens. My goat meat stewed in tomatoes that came with the steaming fresh jollof rice was absolute perfection. Did I mention that each dish is cooked fresh to order, so if you are fancying some spicy goat head, it will be a little while before your dish is ready!
