    Golden Bowl

Oh so delicious and well worth it! I came on a Wednesday for lunch, so there was no line. Normally this place is packed on the weekends. The staff is really nice and can help you order if you need. I got the golden bowl and WOW!! Full of amazing favor. Very hearty and warm to fill my cup! It was also super filling as a bowl. My order took less than 10min to get ready. High recommend if you're at the Post!

I love this place. Everytime I come to the Post I try to make myself try a different eating spot but it never works! They always have a sample of the Golden Bowl for anyone to taste & it's absolutely my go to dish. All the ingredients work well together in this Golden Bowl. The chicken, jollof rice, veggies, the sweet of the plantain with the spice in the curry makes for a delightfully seasoned bowl. I will admit the spice made my nose run but yet I would only describe it as a "subtle" spicy dish. One day I'll try another dish but for now. That golden bowl speaks to me everytime. I had leftovers & even the next day my taste buds got happy all over again! Never had Nigerian West African food or had it somewhere else, try it here, it's delightful!! Don't forget, they have a brick & mortar restaurant in Montrose. I have been... YET!

I exclusively come to the Post for this Golden Bowl from ChopnBlock. The flavors are spectacular and so delicious. They season everything to perfection. The bowl has a nice combo of savory and sweet with the perfect amount of spice. The workers are super friendly and the ambiance is always lit because you're at the Post. I love coming here.

My first West African food ever!!! Tried GOLDEN BOWL as the nice lady at the cashier suggested. Jesus! It's mind-blowing! The Spices. The Aroma. The perfectly charred BBQ Chicken. The perfectly cooked Brown Rice accompanied by the Tomato Chutney of some kind. The Sauce is also out of this world. Had this and then head up to the Rooftop Garden with a Twin Star Boba in my hand. Had an amazing day at POST HOUSTON.

This place is deserving of its James Beard award. I got this at the Post food vendor market. I ordered the trad bowl. It came with smoked jollof jambalaya, chicken, thank veggies and stewed plantains. It was so good! The spices and herbs were very prominent and complemented all the food in the bowl. The chicken was very tender and seasoned very well! The staff was very nice and they have samples for you to try. I tried the motherland curry and it was very good! I'll have to come back to try the motherland or golden bowl. The atmoshere is very much a lively food court but with more neon lights and open light which makes for nice place to eat.

Finally got a chance to try Chopnblok! Heard about it via word of mouth. Quick service; food came out fast. Got the Trad. Delicious! Variety of flavors with the jollof jambalaya, chicken, stewed plantains, & yaji veggies. Tried a few bites of Motherland. Curry flavor was ok. Meat pie minnies were really good! Would order from here again whenever I'm in the POST.

The chicken and rice curry was incredible. Super flavorful and it went quickly. I did not realize it was a landmark spot because of the chef until I looked it up after and it all made sense. One minor nit, wish the staff were a little happier and friendlier, it was so glum.

The food is very flavorful just a little salty but that may just be my preference. Its a unique experience to try each dish. I usually get the motherland bowl with chicken. Its balanced with joloff rice, veggies and plantain. The hibiscus drink used to be my favorite but its not as concentrated as it used to me. So I don't get it anymore. Overall its a nice food spot to give a try.

I need to learn how to cook like this because I don't get to eat west African food often. I heard so many great things about this restaurant that I had to put it on the itinerary (yes I am that girl lol) for my recent visit to Houston. The flavors are poppin in every bite, the ambiance of the restaurant is cultured and pleasantly unique, and the service was great. Our waitress took the time to answer all our questions and offered the best recommendations. We even spoke to either the chef or manager asking him to bring this to Miami. To eat: We shared an appetizer called chips and dip that consists of plantain chips, green dip and we inhaled it! For my entree, I got the golden bowl which is a jollof jambalaya bowl with curry, veggies and plantains. So fire. For my drink, I got the Gold Coast limeade refresher and it was perfect after a night of drinking.

Was in Houston for a weekend work trip a little while back and went to Post market with a group and we loved this spot! Got their bowl and the jollof rice was so nicely seasoned. They also gave some samples out, which was cool and they even had a feature in the New York Times so you know it's good. Loved this the most out of everything we tried in the food hall. Definitely recommend!

Literally some of the best food I've ever experienced! It's so good and a MUST try if you're in Houston. The staff is great the food is great. Overall a 10/10 experience. I find myself thinking about this food often. That's how you know you have something special. Can't wait to come back again and again

Plantain chips and a spinach? Dip? Whatever it was it was delicious.

Absolutely delicious meal from start to finish. A+ flavors across the board. Great service. Delightfully casual and festive atmosphere. Appetizers included polo club suya (grilled beef skewers), meat/veggies pie Minnie, deviled scotch egg with spiced turkey, plantain chips and dip of Liberian greens, coconut chicken bites. Entrees were Trad bowl (smokey jollof chicken jambalaya), Black Star bowl (waakye fried rice, shrimp, curry), and Buka bowl (rice and beans with short rib red stew) Dessert was house plantain bread with vanilla creme anglaise.

Golden Bowl with the sauce on the side.

One of the gem here inside POST Houston, great Nigerian food if you never tried it before. I do love they give out samples, so you will have an idea what the Nigerian food flavor is like. They also have a display of the bowl selection so you can see what the food looks like. This is a great place to start exploring food from another country you are not familiar with. During the weekday, they have one person in front of the house, so she was running the sample booth and the register. The restaurant is very nicely decoration. But we choose to sit in the common area. They will call your name out when your food is ready but if you sit far away, just go back and check. We got the Golden Bowl as that was the sample they were showcasing today. We ask for the sauce on the side. I have a great meal here and was able to let my stepmom try Nigerian food for the first time.

Everything from the stewed hen, to the rice, to the greens were all so well seasoned and I truly enjoyed every bite (8.5/10). The meat pie was also delicious with a savory filling and the pastry was thick and buttery but surprisingly not overbearing considering the pastry to filling ratio (8/10). Overall the food was awesome and seemed quite authentic. Would definitely come back to support this small local business!

Overall, I found the food to be very flavorful, well seasoned, and unique. My daughter and I actually ended up liking each other's meals more than our own, so we switched plates, which worked out well. We also ordered a few extra items, including wings and yams. The pounded yam was interesting and very different from anything I usually eat. It is probably not something I would go out of my way to order again, but I am glad I tried it and now understand a little better how it is eaten. The one disappointing part of the visit was the ordering experience. The young man who rang us up was polite, but he was unable to make any recommendations. He said he had been working there for about three months and still could not really suggest what to order. For someone like me, who is unfamiliar with this type of food, recommendations would have been very helpful. I would have appreciated some guidance on the most popular dishes, common choices, or what first-time customers usually enjoy. That said, the owner was extremely kind. She came out to our table, spoke with us, and helped explain how to eat some of the food we had ordered. I really appreciated that. She came across as a very sweet person, and based on her hospitality alone, I would come back to support the business. This style of food may not personally be my cup of tea or something I will crave often, but I respect the flavor, the care, and the local business behind it. I would give Bantu House four stars. It could have been closer to 3.5 for me personally, mostly because of the lack of ordering guidance, but the owner's kindness and the quality of the food pushed it to four.
