I had no idea what to expect, but my home smells so clean that my husband doesn't want to use the bathrooms or kitchen. They did a deep cleaning, vacuum, dusting, they wiped walls and base boards that I have never touched in the three years we have lived here. They were in and out with the three person crew in 1 hour. I see my Yelp review got a response immediately; Grakei never returned my calls. Other than saying this is not at all a professional cleaning company, a position I think the response supports, I did not intend to sound mean. Grakei did not show up on time, did not come prepared, ignored my requests, stained my grout, charged almost twice the agreed upon price, and did not return my calls. Those are the complaints. I called Grakei cleaners based on the web site and said I was looking for a cleaning service to do 1.5 bathrooms and a kitchen, adding that the kitchen has a tile counter so please come prepared with a grout cleaner, they said 'no problem'. Laura's response seems to indicate grout cleaning is not something you do; this would have been nice to know. I was told there is a minimum charge of $120 & that I had to hire 3 cleaners at a time at $35/hr. I gave my credit card info over the phone & the appointment was booked. I got a follow up call confirming the appointment. I repeated bathrooms & kitchen are the goal; please come with grout cleaner. The appointment was at 1pm, no one arrived. I called at 1:15 and was told there was some booking confusion; they will be there at 3pm, they arrived at 2:30. Your company was not able to make and keep an appointment that you had essentially already been paid for. What about my time? I had other apointments I kept that day. Upon arrival, the cleaners started hauling a well-used cheap household vacuum out of the van. Not a mean comment to the staff, I'm saying your company sent them out with supplies that are not at all what one would expect from a professional cleaning company. This is why I thought they might be responsible for buying their own supplies. Your cleaners used the same toilet brush to scrub the counters and the toilets which is not at all what I expected from a $105/hr service. I told them we were only doing the bathrooms and kitchen and if there was extra time left over could they please wipe the windows. I left and returned an hour later thinking they would be done. Bathrooms hadent been touched, one person was starting on the kitchen & the other two were moving furniture and sweeping the floor, not at all what I had asked for. 3 times I told 3 different people at your company what I wanted and it was totally ignored. It should not take 3 professional cleaners 2 hours to clean 1 kitchen and 1.5 baths. Good guess on the age of the house, its from 1937 but didn't you notice it had been completely remodeled? I think it shows quite nicely which is why we hire professional cleaners to help keep it up. The tile counter top in particular is quite nice and I told you in advance it was important to me. The grout was originally white and is now tinted slightly green from the cleaning powder used. Because grout is porous there are specific cleaners made for it. A professional cleaning company would have known this and come prepared. I called and politely explained where I was un-happy. I was told Keith owns the company (Laura's husband) and he would call me back. Keith never called. I called again a couple days later, the person on the phone said Keith makes the decisions but asked what I thought would be fair to resolve the complaint. I said I thought $50 off for the damage, tardiness, and unwanted time spent sweeping a clean floor seemed fair. They said Keith was in charge and he would call me back. Keith never called and instead emailed me some pictures that in no way addressed my complaints & said we are charging $200. At that point I said I did not want to pay any of the $80 overcharge; after that they did credit my card $50. You advertise green cleaning products; but your response agrees that they arrived with cleaning supplies from the dollar store. For $105 dollars an hour I would expect something better; and you know that, which is why your advertising says you use green cleaning products. Your response says you pay 'just under 50%' to cleaners and 55% to supervisors of the $35/hr you get per. Your jobs section, says you pay cleaners $8.50-11/hr & supervisors $10.50-14.60/hr. Should we tell all your staff they are getting a raise? There is a huge difference between $19.25 an hour (55% of 35) and $10.50; between $16 and $8.5. It also says you pay mielage, as in... for providing your own car. You could have had a regular client here. When I saw my card was billed $200 with no invoice I called seeking a friendly resolution, you ignored me. I'll add a star to cool your jets. Like I have said all along the people were nice, the lack of communication, tardiness, extra charge, and improper equipment I did not like. Try providing actual customer service. Listen to people, answer the phone, respond to reasonable complaints, buy your cleaners professional equipment and organize it so it does not look like people are coming out to clean with whatever was under the kitchen sink that day. read more

It's been a couple years since my original review. I've continued to use Grakei Maids and honestly, I cannot imagine working with a different cleaning service. The ladies do a great job and the cleaning is very consistent. The business went through a rough spot with communications but since hiring an office manager, the communications has been great. E-mails are sent prior to your cleaning to remind you. Business invoices are also provided through e-mails. If you're old school, I'm pretty sure they call you and leave paper copies as well. When we tried to sell our house last year, we asked to change the frequency of the cleanings and Grakei accommodated without any issues. They also adjusted our rates to reflect the increase in cleaning frequencies. They are very flexible and trustworthy. I do not like having people in my house while I'm not there but I trust them now to let them work while I'm not there. I highly recommend their services as they are fair in pricing and deliver consistent and excellent results. ----------------Original Review 12/26/13---------------------- Been shopping around now for a while for some cleaning services. I found Grakei's in an ad sent to my house. After reading some reviews, I decided to give them a try. I really like that the same crew is sent each time. The crew has been to my house 4 times now. The service is good but they were late by 2 hours once with no phone call. Terrible experience. They left in less than two hours and even though they had my phone number, they never called to tell me to lock the house. Everything was done in a half-assed manner. Window sills were half cleaned. Floor was half cleaned. Look at photos and decide for yourself if this is acceptable. When I called to complain they did come back but they charged me for two visits. After many calls to complain they agreed to charge for just one visit. Even after two visits the job left a lot to be desired. I don't know how to post photos but if you saw them you would not believe they were even here. read more

I have never been more disappointed in a service. I had requested a 1 time cleaning, I was surprised at the cost, almost $100 for my 950 SF condo, but I had a party to host so I went for it. I selected the arrival time and specified how to get access to my condo on a Friday afternoon. Around that time, I received a phone call saying that the cleaners could not access my building, despite my detailed instructions. Oh well, I work close by and was able to leave and let them in. After letting them in, I ran errands and returned an hour later, as the cleaning crew was leaving. Like I said, not a big place, so less than an hour for 3 people seemed pretty reasonable. That is until I actually looked around. The upstairs tub may have been wiped down in the center, but the edges were filthy. The tops of the toilets were dusty and the floor was only cleaned until a foot before the wall. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. As it was a Friday night and my party was the next day, I spent Saturday morning re-cleaning. Sunday I received an invoice in my email, they had added a $30 'deep cleaning' fee. I was in shock. I promptly responded saying that was unacceptable, detailing what had not been completed and that I can verify that they were there less than an hour. I was pleased when Keith (the rep from Grakei that emailed me the invoice) said that unsatisfied customers would receive a free cleaning and that someone would follow up with me to schedule it. Imagine my shock when Wednesday mid-afternoon my office phone rang, and it was a cleaner from Grakei at my home needing to be let in. As we didn't have this scheduled, I was not going to leave my office to let them in. I received a phone the following day from Emily (perhaps a manager?) apologizing for the confusion, which I appreciated, and we set up that my husband would bring by our key that afternoon and they would clean the next day (Friday) and leave the key on the counter. Again, Imagine my shock when I returned home from work and the key was not on the counter...and...my house had not been cleaned. They didn't call me or email me that no one was coming, they just didn't show. Now it is Friday at 5 pm, a week after the first miserable cleaning. Completely unacceptable. And this lackadaisical company now has my key until Monday, substantially longer than I would have allowed anyone, even a competent company to have. Needless to say, they were not allowed to do this second cleaning and I would have no other solution than to be refunded. Emily was apologetic again, which I do appreciate, but overall this was absolutely appalling. From poor communication to shoddy work all around unacceptable. Take a quick pass and find someone else to do the job. This review is for work done in December. read more

I would love to be able to review their services and their prices seemed great but after a month of trying we could never get it set up. First they didn't respond to the online request for an estimate so I had to call them instead. We then set up a time for an in home estimate but they didn't show and we got a phone call 30 minutes after our appointment time that the estimator couldn't make it. It took several more rounds of phone tag to try to set up an initial cleaning and I was never actually able to get our contact to answer a phone call and instead had to leave a message and wait hours for a response. They could not give us a time for our initial cleaning until 6 PM on Sunday for a cleaning on Monday. Finally, the cleaners showed up 4 hours late for the confirmed time we had been given the night before and seemed completely unaware what time they were supposed to have been there. They might do good work but if you are looking for a cleaning service because you are short on time or because you want to save on the hassle good luck. read more

I appreciate the fact that the same crew shows up each week, and that they are so professional. They're even nice to my dog, which is important to me. I went through their online process to book an initial cleaning - unfortunately you have to enter your credit card info to do this. No one ever responded to my scheduling request. Not a single call or email. I received an automated email from the company weeks later saying I had a payment due - thankfully it said my invoice was $0. I was irritated nonetheless so sent an email to complain about the process - no response. I just received my credit card bill and I was charged in full for the cleaning that never happened! Needless to say, this is incredibly unprofessional. I suppose they bank on people not checking their credit card statements? There are other cleaning companies in the area. Grakei Maids, did a great job! First time using their service from a move. They sent 3 maids cleaned the house from top to bottom. Windows, blinds, carpets, you name it. Priced well was only about $10 difference from the quote. Which was fantastic! They did arrive late, but they called asked if they could adjust the time. We were flexible, so not a problem. And really, if you are doing cleaning or any type of service business often you can't anticipate how much work may or may not go into a job from time to time. Price was great, service was excellent. We used Grakei twice and I didn't feel we received the services listed on their site. We did the detailed service package and many of the detailed services weren't performed. When I contacted the business they sent someone over as soon as they could, which was great, but again they missed some of the services listed. We tried one more time, but it was a similar experience so we decided to switch. The people working were very nice and helpful, but I paid extra to receive the detailed cleaning package and did not get those extra services. The basic cleaning package may be perfect for the weekly or biweekly cleanings, however. read more

Grakei Maids clean our vacation rental in Maple Bluff and they are fantastic. We interviewed a few different cleaning companies and their price was significantly better than the franchises. The house is always sparkling clean and Bertha's crew always gets in and gets it done even when we have lots of same day turnovers during peak rental times. We live out of town and they have saved us a few times when we had emergencies. The owner, Keith, installed a new TV for us when ours died and also changed some light bulbs around the home. We hired this company to clean a house that we just bought and were going to be moving in to. We had never hired a cleaning company before, but were crunched for time and thought we'd give it a try. The house was completely empty to make the move-in clean easier. When we arrived after they were done, I felt like we had just wasted over $200. There were spider webs in every corner of the house still. It looked as though they had only swept, and vacuumed. The floors were full of dirt and the cupboards were not cleaned. We had tried to contact the company to voice our complaints and have not gotten through to anyone yet besides their voicemail. I would definitely not recommend using this company. Very disappointed with my cleaning service. I had never had a cleaning service come before, it's usually something I do myself. However, we are trying to sell our home and wanted a really good "deep clean." Especially because we have 3 dogs. We didn't want our house to smell like dog. I mentioned my dogs on the phone and said that washing the floors was something that was important to me. I also scheduled it for morning because we had a walk through in the afternoon. When I arrived home at 3pm they were still in the middle of cleaning. Unfortunately they were here for the walk through which made it difficult. That annoyed me but I dealt with it. After they left, however, is when I noticed how poorly they cleaned. There was still dog hair in the corners on the floors. The floors were not washed. Still very dirty. Counters and such were cleaned which was nice but mopping floors is basic cleaning and they did not do it. They also did not tell us that they broke off the lightbulb inside our range hood above the stove. Half of it was broken off and stuck in there. The other half of the lightbulb was laying on the stove. The fan and lights for the range hood no longer work. They did not mention they broke something. It almost seemed like they were trying to hide it as the broken lightbulb was hidden in the gas stove burner. This experience makes me hesitant to ever hire someone again to clean my home. I am very disappointed I wasted my money. read more
