I don't know if owners changed changed or the owner is trying to save money or what, but this place was my go to for bagels and breakfast sandwiches up until today. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 to acknowledge my prior visits were good, however, this is my first time back in a few months. And I was not happy at all. On my $12 bagel, I had to call a search team to find the bacon, until I finally found the one skimpy shriveled up piece sitting all by itself under the 2 small eggs [def not jumbo or even extra large). Lastly the bagel was not fresh at all, Which again what is the first time I had a problem with the actual bagel itself, as they're normally my favorite bagels I'm not a huge fan of a lack of quality control. Or businesses who build up reputation?And then start cutting corners. Hopefully, this was a one off, an accidentally got a bagel from yesterday, and the kitchen was having a bad day or something. Omg what a gem! We were in Dania Beach visiting and what a delight to be able to try food from here. The lady who helped us was very nice, had a great personality, we enjoyed having her help us. OK, but I have always low-key wanted to try this place. I've driven past here 1 million times for numerous reasons. And the name Gramps says to me old school classic American cooking. Thank goodness that's what it was with a twist of clean, cut future flare. I told myself I'd just have a meeting with my friend for a cup of coffee, tea and a quick chat. Well we all ended up ordering different meals. I will say the portion sizes to me are a bit smaller compared to most American dining restaurants. However realistically the portion sizes are exactly as they should be. With that being said nothing's over salted or over seasoned. I had tea and my friends all had flavored coffee. They bring you the flavoring for your hot cup of coffee so you can pour in the exact amount that you want. Genius. I ordered a salad with pecans because why not have a salad for brunch! I also order the egg Florentine Benedict. The girls ordered hashbrowns and eggs their way. The other ordered a sandwich. No complaints everything was good. There was the line when we arrived, but I didn't have to worry , to my surprise, they got us in very quickly. The service was fairly enough and definitely speedy. Everything was hot and fresh. Another bonus is that if you don't want to sit down, there's a little deli/market section inside of the restaurant. As you enter on the right hand side, there's a place where you can buy frozen premade meals, some fresh daily items, bakery items, and beverages. I would say my ultimate favorite thing would be the community table! How cool is that. If you don't know anyone, and you don't want to sit alone, there's a large table in the restaurant that has open dining for guests to sit and share a space. Make some new friends and have a seat there. Or just read your paper quietly to yourself. The place was buzzing with its own heartbeat outside the city streets. I quite liked it. We had 3 hours to kill since the flight kept getting delayed so we took a drive down Federal Hwy. Saw a sign on the street Grampa's Bakery, so we decided to go for a coffee and pastry. Ok... no bakery on premise but this place has been around forever serving great breakfast and deli. Located right off of SW 1st in Dania Beach, this is one of the last South Florida bagel delis and dinners. I heard they closed for a while but they're back serving fresh bagels and from what the server told us... great breakfast. I was impressed with how spotless it was. Cappuccino was excellent and so was the peach rugelach. We got there about 49 minutes before they closed and everyone inside couldn't have been nicer. I had driven past Grampa's Cafe so many times, but every time I was in the area it was late and they were closed. I finally decided to go during the day for breakfast, and now I have been twice and absolutely love it. The place is very spacious and parking has been easy every time I have gone. They seated me almost immediately on both visits. I have only gone during the week, so I can imagine weekends might be busier with less parking and seating available. Now the important part, the food. It is delicious and the portions are huge. The bagels are literally the size of your hand. If you eat the bagel alone, that is already a full meal. The first time I went, I ordered a breakfast plate with eggs and home fries. I paid extra to add bacon and it came with a bagel. I also got coffee and a cinnamon muffin that was so good I forced myself to finish it even though I was completely full. When something is that good, you just commit. I also took a Reuben sandwich to go for my dad and he said it was one of the best Reubens he has ever had. He was so happy we found this place. The second time, I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel with home fries. The service was unreal. I immediately spilled a cup of water and multiple staff members came over to help me, brought me a new plate, and made sure everything was taken care of. They were incredibly kind and attentive. Pricing is a little on the higher side for breakfast. You are probably looking at $18 to $25 if you get coffee and factor in tip. But honestly, the portions are generous and the quality is there, so it feels worth it. The staff is super friendly, the space is clean and nice inside, and the vibe is very chill. It has a little bit of a New York feel to it in the best way. If you are in Fort Lauderdale, I would definitely recommend going. This bakery/restaurant came highly recommended for authentic Jewish bagels so since we were in the area, we decided to pop in on a Tuesday afternoon. Several people were inside having lunch and the bakery line was 2 customers deep. Wasn't too long of a wait until our turn and we wanted to try their bagels since we were told it was second to none in the area. The bagels are $2.00 a piece and there are no discounts for half dozen or bakers dozen. We picked 4 bagels: cinnamon raisin, egg, onion, and garlic just to try out since it was our first time in. We also got the Philadelphia cream cheese with lox. I used to live near a Jewish area in Philadelphia that had authentic Jewish bagels so I am very familiar with them. When I bit into Grampa's cinnamon raisin bagel, it took me on a trip down memory lane back to Jenkintown, Philadelphia. The bagels had a crusty crisp exterior, with a soft, chewy interior. They tasted freshly baked and were absolutely GINORMOUS! I didn't even get to take a pic of the cinnamon raisin bagel before it was devoured in seconds. That's how good they are! Make no mistake, these are definitely second to none around these parts of Florida. So glad we stopped in....they have a breakfast and lunch menu as well as a small market area to the right of the store when you walk in and a refrigerator case selling cage free eggs at $3.99 a dozen, cream cheese spreads sold by the pound, thinly sliced lox, & a nice selection of salad bar items to choose from. Came here yesterday thanks to a recommendation from our hotel attendant. We arrived around noon and this place is not only huge but totally packed with a line. We checked in and waited about 15 minutes before they called us. While waiting we walked around inside because aside from being a restaurant they have an area where you can purchase pastries and they also have a deli with different types of salads and other things I've never seen before. We split a hot pastrami and corned beef sandwich and split one of their huge everything bagels with a side of cream cheese. The sandwich doesn't come with fries so we ordered a side of fries. The sandwich was very delicious and definitely more than enough for one person to eat and now I understand why it doesn't come with fries. It also came with a whole pickle which I guess is house made because it was honestly one of the most delicious pickles I've ever had and tasted a lot like cucumber and I loved it. Our bagel seemed to be slightly burnt but I didn't complain and still enjoyed the smoke flavor. John was our server, he had many tables and did a fantastic job of attending all his customers (this guy was truly a pro). Wow....regular customers for years. Yes busy morning. Waiting patiently behind a woman making a take out order when the person can't understand that they don't have what they wanted to drink, and wouldn't make an alternate choice I guess. She dat there arguing in the phone. Lady taking care of her brought order for another lady out and charged it on the other register. Then a gentleman comes out and takes the order for the young man behind me who pushed his way over????? Ummmm I guess I wasn't next. Lady on phone continues to argue. I finally just walked out feeling most undervalued and unappreciated. It's not the part about coming regularly (even tho I live far away). If it was my first time I would have walked out as well. Service here has always been spotty at best and they definitely can't handle a crowd. The service was friendly and attentive, although I believe the silverware was plastic. My Pastrami, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich was sinful and delectable. The home fries that came with them were good, just needed to add a bit of salt. The coffee was very good as well. Was in the area and decided to try Grampa's for lunch. Seated quickly, waitress took our drink order and explained em we hadn't dined there before. While perusing the menu I took a look around the restaurant. Very clean and up to date. Up front they have take out orders and frozen soups, and order things like cream cheese's and desserts and of course delicious looking bagels. My Husband and I both ordered chicken salad sandwiches on rye served with a scrumptious fresh pickle. Chicken salad was tasty and not very chunky ( I like it that way). I ordered cucumber salad as a side. Not the best I've had. The coney was cut way too thick causing it to not absorb the flavoring. My husband ordered the potato salad and did not care for it. Also said it was too chunky. The women's bathroom definitely needed updating. I'll say no more on that. Over all the food was good, and for the area I felt a little pricey. We took the Grandkids for breakfast / early lunch before a movie. I had been here years ago and my grandchildren knew about it and asked to go here for the pancakes so we couldn't say no. We parked in the shopping center next door because there was very little parking out front. We waited a few minutes to be seated. There is a deli section and a small and had a lovely server who was so nice to the kids. There were a lot of tables inside but they were very busy. The boys ordered pancakes and chicken fingers off the kids menu . We had a BLT and more pancakes. The food was delivered to our table promptly. The boys loved their meals and we were happy with ours. The prices are a little higher than I would expect for a BLT but the food was good. We will be back when the grandkids want more pancakes! read more

It located perpendicular to the Jaxson's ice cream plaza. And there's parking storefront as well as the side. Service: we were a party of 5 at 1015am and seated immediately. Our server was nice but a bit off putting when my friend asked what was gluten free on the menu. The server said"nothing is". This is 2024, we are all adults and realize gluten intolerance is a thing. Anyway, we figured out what she could have on our own. Management should educate the servers on what is gluten free on the menu Another thing is that my friend and I asked for everything bagels on the side, I mentioned to the food runner that they didn't come out and then 10 mins later had to mention again to my server. It was a bit busy so I understand. Food: Our server was very thoughtful and brought us a complimentary blueberry muffin. It wasn't fresh but it was tasty. I had a farm fresh Omelet, hash browns and an everything bagel on the side. The omelet was decent but had a funny taste to it, I couldn't quite put my finger on it. The bagel was just okay... considering this is a NY style deli I expected top notch bagels. But maybe this isn't what their speciality is. Fantastic food. I had a florentine eggs Benedict and coffee. My parents had the pastrami sandwich and the mile high turkey sandwich. All three of our plates were empty by the time we were done. The Benedict was good but the hash browns were phenomenal. I asked for them crispy and not only we were they nice and crispy, they were seasoned to perfection! Serving both the bakery and the restaurant. We found out the for sale sign is for a truck that's been sitting out there since the early 1990's I believe it only had one wheel. I share this story because our waitress Brook, was very personable. That's the service you can expect. I only wish more places like this were that attentive. As far as the food, I ordered the greek omelette. Apparently everything comes with their famous bagels. They were as close to NJ bagels as you can get. The cheese blintz were perfection. A+ everyone! First time here but it definitely won't be my last. I had gone there planning to get the corned beef hash, but I was told that the corned beef was canned so I opted for the pastrami sandwich instead. It came with a choice of macaroni salad, coleslaw, or cucumber salad. I opted for the cucumber salad and I'm so glad I did. It was so delicious and so fresh tasting. As far as the pastrami sandwich I have to say it was the best pastrami I've had since leaving NY but I wasn't surprised at all since they use Carnegie deli meat. My husband had the eggs Benedict with perfectly crispy hash browns as his side but home fries and choice of tomato is also available. The server was good and he was friendly although he seemed a bit overwhelmed yet it wasn't very busy. We ordered bagels, cream cheese, nova salmon, tuna salad, egg salad, baked salmon salad (SO DELICIOUS) and some chocolate rugelach to go. We really enjoyed everything we tried from there and as I said, we'll definitely be back. Service was prompt and while we didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out, everything wasn't hot. The server brought out three pieces of coffee cake that was delicious.
