First meal just after we landed in Buenos Aires. Restaurant has been here for awhile. OPEN for lunch then closes for a bit until dinner time. We were here for lunch and was able to find a table. We ordered a chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), and rib eye (medium). Perfect portion to share between us. I also got glass of red and wasn't disappointed with the pour size (it was alot) The chorizo and morcilla we liked because they cooked it with the casing having this snap when we first take a bite. Such a nice dining experience. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. It has a nice environment for people looking to dine on some fabulous food and enjoy one another's company. Eat slow because it's a lot of food! You start off with bread and this delicious bean mixture. We then ordered a couple of salads to start- it was a generous portion. Between my party we got our own entrees but definitely could have gotten just 3 to split between the 5 of us. My friends ordered medallion, chicken skewers, and myself a ribeye. Like I said- a lot of food and no one finished it. I ordered a fried egg for my steak- I recommend it! The skewers came with amazing waffle fries. We also ordered some potatoes. Everything, I mean everything had wonderful flavors. Grilled smokiness on the skewers, juicy steaks, fresh fries... I'd go back in a heart beat. I have been coming here my last two trips to Argentina. On this most recent trip it seems to be a little more touristy, but that said it is still GOOD! Most of the servers have been there for years, and the service is very good. The "baby beef" Rib Eye, and lomo are both very good. My table will usually be heading for a long night out, and a couple of bottles of Santa Julia Champagne are in order. But even Mid-tier Malbec staples like Emilia are very affordable and hardly marked up beyond their price you would find in the grocery store. Of the four or five times here, I don't think I have taken dinner before 10pm. The place stays open appropriately late, and the scene at times can be quite lively, particularly for this area. They offer the "Blue Rate" of exchange for dollars as payment, so this last trip we always paid in dollars. In fact the rate was better then any of the changers would give, so be sure to see what they have posted at the register, or just ask your server. This is a solid place, and I especially like that their wine list is not overly marked up like some of the other popular Parrillas. read more

I visited for dinner with a large group. I ordered the flank steak rare but it came medium rare and medium on the ends. Seems parillas dont like to reduce the thickness of their cuts, and flank steak is much better sliced. Otherwise I would have rated ut 5*. Sides are extra large, and most of them and the meat dishes were plenty for a couple sharing. I ordered the spinach gratin that was excellent My share of the mill with tax and tip was 550 pesos. If you're a steak lover, you're in the right city! Grand Parrilla is the right restaurant! Delicious steak! Perfectly cooked. So very good! The proveleta, usually soft and gooey was over done and even difficult to cut. We actually sent it back, sadly. The wine was delicious. Service stool a turn.... after the provelta rejection... which we did politely. Maybe we should've kept quiet, but if it was my restaurant, I'd like to know if there's a problem. Went here on a Monday night when most other stuff in the neighborhood was closed. It was jumping. After about a 15 minute wait, the host came by and offered us and another couple champagne for the wait. In about 10 minutes we got our table. Our waiter was excellent despite the fact that the place was packed. He made a fantastic wine recommendation for our meal selections. I got the attention of all the tables around us by ordering the traditional Achuras (chitlings, blood sausage, kidney and chorizo) and we split a fried provoletta cheese which came with a delicious bacony ham cut and roasted red pepper to start. The achuras were pretty good for what they were. The main was a big beef rib that we had seen being carried around. The beef rib was not the best, but it was really interesting to try nonetheless and we had filled up on . After dinner our waiter offered us more free champagne and a limoncello after dinner drink. We were looking for a good parrilla and we found it! Even though the restaurant was full, we got seated pretty quickly and service was amazing throughout the night. Our table ordered various meats and side dishes and ALL of them were excellent! The prices of the meat dishes, the side dishes and even the wine bottles were very reasonable. amazing steakhouse in BA! we went during lunch time and it's packed but luckily no wait. the baby beef is very good, tender and juicy. we also got the half portion intestine, it is quite fatty, the outside is cripsy and good. the portion is pretty big. they also give you some pickled beans to start with, the sauces that comes with the steak are great too. not sure if it was just a mistake or it was done on purpose for tourists, but when we got the bill, i'm glad i looked it over, there are so many different charges, and they charged us for 2 scoops of ice cream and a dessert that we did not order (essentially charging us 30% over our bill), not sure if they think we don't understand Spanish and would not catch these (but being a foodie, i know my food and especially desserts in Spanish) read more

The place was crowded, noisy, and hot this midweek summer evening. Fortunately we shared since portions are ample. We started with a mixed green salad which was simple but tasty with a touch of good olive oil and vinegar. And a good bottle of Malbec. The steaks was perfect, medium - as requested and the side orders was good to. They serve a lot of bread and tasty mixes of herbs to put on the bread. Not possible to have any room for dessert at this place.. ;) The total of 1050 pesos for this meal is a fair and decent price for this meal. You can get cheaper steak meal in this city at Siga La Vaca or similar but then you get other cuts than tenderloin and ribeye. But I can recommend this place, and make sure to get a reservarion as this place is popular. We went on a monday , really early compared to normal dinner time in Arg and around 20.30 it was full. I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor near my hotel. I was looking for some good steak because that was my first meal in Argentina. I went there alone, which is not a good idea because all the dishes are way bigger than I thought it would be. I ordered Grilled Provolone Cheese with cooked ham, tomatoes and basil. It was really delicious. The cheese was cooked with the basil really well. Moreover, I will say if I finish this dish I will be full already. I order medium rare ribeye steak as a main with French fries and egg on top as a side. That was a huge piece of meat although it is not the biggest. I think it was around 16oz as it said in the menu, which is way too much for me. It will be amazing for those who love meat. The steak was juicy and it tastes so good with the sauces they provided. Last fall, my husband and I took a long weekend in Argentina with a couple friends. Since it was Ryan's birthday, we made a point of seeking out someplace for a more upscale dinner. We happened upon Gran Parrilla Del Plata and greatly enjoyed the experience. It had already gotten dark, but they still had their sidewalk seating open (very little light) which created a very romantic atmosphere. We were promptly greeted by a very friendly server and ordered an appetizer which was served promptly and was delicious. For dinner, Ryan and I both ordered steak and our friends ordered fish (one salmon and one trout). Everything was delicious although we weren't exactly accustomed to the trout coming out with the head on it :) Nothing wrong with it, just not used to it. Everything was absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly and served promptly. The restaurant even provided individual shots of lemoncelo afterwards. The price was fantastic and the service was superb. This restaurant is definitely on our list for our next trip to Buenos Aires. read more

So for me this was the best steak house we went too. Don't get me wrong I did not eat one bad steak while in Argentina for 7 weeks. However this place did it right for the backpacker. With great meat options huge delicious sides ( go with the provencial potatoes) and a good bottle of Malbec this place become a 3 time stop in our time in Buenos Aires. By the way that whole meal cost about 30 bucks for two people. It is not the fanciest steak house which was another thing I really liked about it. After a bad experience with parrilla, I was really happy to get a recommendation to try this place. It was packed, the food was very good, and dinner for 4 was less than $100 US with everything included. I didn't know at first that pretty much all steak in Argentina is grass fed, so lower fat and a bit tougher than we are used to in the US, but it was great anyway. Especially nice was the bottle of Saint Felicien malbec for only $16. That would certainly cost several times as much in the US. White linen, attentive and polite waiter, everything quite clean. Good restaurant. Great food. Poor service. Living in San Telmo, it was imperative that I come here at least once or twice. Their prominence both on yelp and on the street led me here twice, first for dinner an second for lunch. For the dinner, I dined inside on pizza and steak. The pizza was a great start, but after about 30 minutes of waiting it became apparent that the steak wasn't coming. My server had forgotten to put it in. So I ended up waiting quite a long time. As I waited, I got to watch my waiters goofing around with each other in the kitchen, not attending much to me or the other customers and generally not seeming to take their jobs seriously. The second time, I had steak and a salad. I clearly asked that the steak be "jugoso", or rare, and it came out well done. We were recommended this place by our hostel around the corner. The receptionist hadn't tried it so we took a bit of a risk based on his recommendation. We sat outside under a very well heated patio. To start we received complementary bread and a lovely butter bean salsa. We order the chorizo, beef ribs and patatas brava. The meat was cooked to perfection however the ribs a little chewy which is why I wouldn't give the place 5 stars. The side of patatas was huge - the potatoes topped with a nice tomato/garlic sauce which was homemade. Last time, the 2 of November, we were been treated very bad from the manager Mrs Marina when we tried to inform her,that we were not very satisfied with the quantity of lomo we had ordered, 450 gr. as usual , and that one piece of lomo was rare and the other over cocked. At this time the lomo seemed to be smaller than we had many times before. Also the appetizers, that the restaurant offers for free, didn't come. We had to ask for the salsas . Anyway this would not be the cause not to visit this restaurant never again, but the answers Mrs Marina, the manager on duty, gave us.She said that if we are not satisfied is no need to came back again . i had heard a lot of good things about the Gran Parilla Del Plata, and I guess i was too full of anticipation...cause I was thoroughly disappointed (as were the other two that were with me). First off the service was slow, maybe because it was 7:00pm (way early by Argentinian standards) and there were only three other tables being served at the time. I ordered the Sirloin, mixed salad and creamed spinach. The salad was the best part of the meal. The steak came out over cooked (as was the other sirloin ordered by one of my friends). We noticed that later on, someone at another table had the same problem. The steak did not have much of a flavor and the texture of the beef was not very good. The creamed spinach was watery and would have been better just plain. It took a while to get the waiter's attention just to pay the bill. So that was the only consistancy to our dining experience...SLOW !!! This place is kind of a dive compared to other steak places in town and their food quality is lacking as well. Varied selection of cuts of beef good at reasonable prices. Thought our proveleta appetizer must have been grilled way in advance. Mixed salad was just ok. Beef was good. Service was sporadic.
