Parking is spacious but I did sadly see the charging stations that they used to have here have been permanently disconnected but the machine part is still there. Maybe some day they will bring them back as they were convenient though slow. Inside staff was very friendly and assisted me with finishing the set up for my new card. It only took 5 minutes and now I have my card! I can't wait to start using Libby. I then walked around browsing the aisles and I found a wide selection of different languages which I thought was awesome. There's also plenty of study tables and many public computers. On leaving I looked around the park. I was really pleased because the grass looks nice and green and no foxtails! I saw someone playing with their dog in the field and this made me realize this is a great place to bring my dog to do some training and it's close to me. Very happy and looking forward to my next visit

Whelp, there's no harm in trying. This Northridge branch was located smack in the middle of my SFV errands, so I swung by to try my luck I like this branch. It reminds me of the branch I had growing up, with a modest parking lot FILLED with beautiful shade trees. Some of the exterior on the local branches looks a bit industrial, but this branch has a mountain cabin feel. I parked and walked in. As soon as you enter, you can see the restrooms and a drinking fountain conveniently located at the front. Hubs headed there while I beelined a few steps further to the checkout desk, library card conveniently affixed to my keyring, tightly clenched in my sweaty palm. 'I know this is a crazy Hail Mary ask, but are there any State Park passes still available?' I asked as unstressed as possible. A quick glance behind, 'Hmmm...I don't think...wait! Okay, hold on, let's get your card scanned (beep!), then I can check(scan beep again) and seeeee....Yes! This last one is available!' WooHOO!!! How lucky I am! My adventure Angel was looking out for ME today! The librarians laughed at my reaction, which may have been a bit too loud for the environment, but they didn't dampen my joy. Thanks for being such a great resource for adventure and fun, be it within the pages of Robert Louis Stevenson or the dirt roads of Bodie. Cheers! "CC"

Then as the weather was drifting into May Gray coolness, we wanted to go to the Chatsworth Library for some indoor quiet time. That branch was closed at the time, having renovations on their HVAC systems. It wasn't that far to get to Northridge, so we checked out that location. We found a convenient parking place, then a clean restroom inside. Then it was time to visit the children's section in the back corner. What a delightful time for 6 year-old SG. She was in reading heaven. She browsed the racks, picked out several books at a time, then found various places to snuggle up with her finds. Dear Hubby happily found the magazines and started reading on his own. There are tables and chairs, and also computer desks near the kids' area, so we could be close, but give SG her space. I was checking work email for a while, and then Yelp reviews. The layout and design features of the children's section are very charming and create a cozy atmosphere. SG was excited to learn that she could have her parents get her a library card so that she'd be able to check out a certain number of books and take them home for a time. A library fan is born! I told her about when I was a kid on the first day of summer vacation I would ride my bike across town to the library and come home with a basket of books to read. That was my ritual throughout the start of the summertime. Read, read, read. Go for a swim, get something to eat, then read some more. Simpler times!

This 2 hour ceremony started about 30 minutes late (8:30AM) and ended at about 10:30AM. I came here today to read a book that I got as a gift! Needed to get away from my everyday life of sitting in my bedroom depressed. So I decided to go out to a place that makes me feel good which is my old stomping ground CSUN. The book I'm reading is called Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. My goal is to finish this book by the end of the week which is Saturday/Sunday. I'm already in chapter 4 and I got the book yesterday. I'm passing myself so I will obtain the information while understanding the book as I read out loud to myself. The facility here has changed from years ago when I was here. In the lobby they have a coffee shop and a lounge area. Which is crazy to see in a library! It's the light_skin_dragon blasting off quietly to find a new place to review for all my readers out there! See how I did that haha

They don't go every Thursday evening; just depends what's showing and what else everyone has going on. We checked it out and saw "Inside Out 2" with them several weeks ago. That led to us learning where to park, what to bring, and where to find the lawn in front of the library building where the movies are screened. It's a great family event. Several food trucks come for the event. (I'm told the prices are high!) You can bring your own food. The price of admission is just right - free! If you can luck out to find street parking, that's free, too. The walk is long, though. We park in Lot 33, which is closer to the lawn area than street parking. Four hours in the lot is about $8, which isn't too bad. The parking app / kiosk is painful, though. I especially struggled with it last night. The WiFi inside the parking structure is almost non-existent, so using the texting feature can be challenging. Last night it was "Toy Story 4". The graphics and sound volume were much better than for Inside Out. However, about half way through the movie something happened to the video playback and only audio kept playing. The organizers' spot isn't easily identifiable, so it took a few minutes before the situation got fixed. Then one of the side lawns had the sprinklers start to go off before the film was finished, so everyone over there was scrambling to pick up their stuff and get out of the way of the sudden showers. Someone came on the intercom at the end of the movie and thanked everyone for coming and apologized for those two little glitches. The organizers create a nice event feeling for the participants. Overall, it was still a pleasant evening spent with the younger generations.
