What a great bookstore I don't know if all the items they have here are used but I did see a few that looked new. They have a great collection and some very antique books that are a collectors dream. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a great spot inside the mall and I love how organized the shop is. They have great books and all were very reasonably priced. Would recommend coming here on your next book search

Dropped by this awesome book store. Such a great store. Love seeing the banned book section. Knowledge is power!

Newly opened bookstore at the Northridge Fashion Mall. They do sell used and new books. They don't buy though except for Canyon Country and Simi Valley locations. I love reading so I got intrigued when I saw the sign and decided to check it out. I didn't buy any book but I purchased some lovely fancy jewelries. They have an array of great selections of book titles either for kids, teens or adults. They have an area for knick knacks and display case for vintage watches, jewelry and the like. Book prices are usually lower than most of the other stores. Employees greets you and offers to help out with your inquiries and advice for a good deal or a good book title. Come check it out whenever you're in the area...

Kids section in The Open Book Store.

First time at The Open Book store inside Northridge Fashion Mall on Tampa Ave. Such a neat and spacious book store. It has a modern library feel. The Open Book has several sections. The Kids section in the back is pretty well designed with a table for reading books. They made sure to make it kid friendly with numerous selection of books ranging in ages from toddler years to teeny bopper years. The other section to the right of the Kids section is more of a relaxing area where you can sit and play chess. It's also inviting to book collectors and readers. Definitely has a library feel to it. Great pricing of gently used books. Majority of the books look like they are in good condition. They are priced at 50% off the original price of the book. I found and bought 2 books that I'm excited to read. Will let friends and family know about The Open Book Store where you can find plenty of great books to read in good condition.

I was walking through the Northridge mall and found this amazing book store at the way end, across from H&M. I was surprised with the options, just about any Genre of book they have it, and they have an amazing kid section of books. As the weather chills and I'm spending more time at home I was looking for a new read, I found several. There is even a couch in the back that I could start my new book. Just a bonus, I was happy to see that the prices were below the price on the books. I was helped quickly and was given a stamp card for a discount in the future, they were very helpful when they checked me out.

Absolutely love their new location. It's so spacious and they're able to display more books as well as the unique trinkets and antiques they have. Everything is clearly labeled and categorized nicely, making browsing easy and fun. They have cool things such as a display of "Blind Date with a Book" and a big Kids book section. They have couches and chairs around were people can hangout and it makes it all the more welcoming. Of course they continue to have great prices. Will definitely be back for more good reads once I tackle my to-be-read pile lol

This location is at the old Disney Store upstairs. I'm so grateful for The Open Book because they really have been a hub for the community. At their previous location, they held all kinds of events such as Open Mic Nights, Book Clubs, and Art Marts. I know it's only a matter of time before this new location starts to host similar events. We need more places like this in the Valley where people can hangout and meet new friends that doesn't involve going to a club or bar. As far as their selection, while there are many previously loved books, you can also find many new items (some in their original plastic packaging!) There is a pretty good selection of vintage books in you're a collector. Make sure to take a look at the Staff Picks to get to know some of the staff if you don't get a chance to have a conversation with them

I came to finally check out this new bookstore that took over the Disney store in the Northridge Fashion Center on the second floor. I thought this as just another book store but was totally wrong. They sell jewelry here as well and have like a showroom toward the back of the store. They don't allow drinks or food inside so be aware of that. They also have a kids area toward the back as well if they want to read a book there. They also don't do refunds or exchanged here so I don't think that's a good business strategy. I didn't really look at their books collection here but I might when I come back again.

And this place? It gets it. There's something about flipping through dusty records that just hits different. It's like walking into a thrift store and catching that mid-century smell--you either understand it or you don't. I do. I live in band tees 90% of the time, and this spot is basically my natural habitat. I've built up little collections over the years--certain genres, classics I refuse to let go of--and being here made me actually consider bringing some pieces back in. But also... you never know when the internet might betray you, and suddenly that random DVD becomes essential again. The vibe here is unmatched, super nostalgic without trying too hard. And the service? Genuinely great. Friendly, helpful, and not pushy at all. Also--fell completely in love with a Madonna T-shirt that I absolutely need in my life. Definitely coming back. Easy five stars.

This is probably the largest selection of vinyl and CDs in the SFV, for sure worth checking out if you are the type that collects your own media... there's always a deal or two lurking if you look hard enough. Parking can be tight, there's a lot in the back and some street parking available, but it's a bit of a walk to the store if the spots in front are all taken. I notice a few people commenting on their experiences with the staff here, and it really depends on who you get. There's at least one employee who appears to think that this place would be great if it wasn't for all the pesky customers :-) however the vast majority of my interactions with the staff here have been very positive.

This store is exactly what I mean. I loved the open book in Northridge when it was on Tampa and still when it moved inside the mall. Was excited when this location opened. I am a sucker for old books and this place has ample with a really cool ambiance to it. Kinda like a nerdy library. I say that because they also have comics, collectibles and even have a section for banned books. As if you're buying something taboo. Staff is always friendly, place is organized so you know where to look, they always have some type of deal going on. So great value no matter what you buy. So if you're in the hunt for something to read, just skip Amazon for a change and support your local bookstore. Let's keep brick and mortar stores alive!

Store was much larger than anticipated; amazing selection of classic literature, world history,…read moreancient philosophy, literary analysis, and contemporary fiction. All books, to my knowledge and memory, were sorted alphabetically by author last name. Prices were shockingly reasonable! It became too easy to rack up the total price; six books for fifty dollars! Perhaps it is an issue alone to compare, but one would not be able to get as many books of this quality at similar prices in bookstores like Barnes & Noble. I am unsure if the total price was altered by the "buy one, get one half off" sale that was active the day I purchased from The Open Book. I approached two staff members to see if they had a specific book available; the book was not in stock, but both staff members were very easy to approach, friendly, and genuinely helpful! I would recommend anyone to bear with the parking and traffic to check this shop out!

From the moment I walked in, Sunny and her mom Miriam made me feel like I'd stepped into something out of a Hallmark movie. The shop is warm, thoughtfully curated, and radiates the kind of charm that's hard to fake. The front of the store is a cozy mix of beautifully displayed teacups, candles, face oils, and other small-business treasures -- eclectic in the best way. As you move through, you'll find not just books, but stories waiting to be discovered, each one handpicked by Sunny with clear attention and care. If she doesn't have what you're looking for, she'll gladly order it and get it to you quickly -- that kind of service is rare. It's also not your average flower shop. Their dried floral arrangements are lovely, but it's Miriam's custom designs that really shine. She has a natural talent for combining color, texture, and mood -- it's like she's creating bouquets with soul. While I haven't yet had the chance to attend one of Sunny's in-store events, I've talked with her about some of the gatherings she puts together -- and it's clear how much heart and thought goes into every single one. She works hard to bring in respected authors and local artists that her customers will connect with, and she's constantly brainstorming new ways to make the shop a meaningful space for the community. It's that kind of intention and passion that sets this place apart. Since that first visit, Sunny's has become one of my regular stops -- a place that feels like home. Every customer is greeted like a friend, and it always amazes me how many names and faces Sunny and Miriam remember. It's more than a bookshop -- it's a place built with love, care, and a true sense of community.
