She then said she had some questions for me prior to booking: 1) "Is your injury due to a mobile vehicle accident and are lawyers involved?" and 2) "Is your injury due to a workplace accident?" I answered no to both questions, and she replied that they aren't actually booking new clients. Such is the state of healthcare in the US. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. So much for wellness.

Today after she was done telling me that they wouldn't even consider scheduling him until the end of February she said, "and I'll need all of his reports from the doctors and I'll need to see your insurance card too." Which is a normal request, but the sarcastic and demeaning tone was disingenuous. I then asked how I should get her the insurance information and she snapped back with, "your doctor has it right? Have them send it too." I was so taken aback with the way she responded I decided to keep calling around. I found another place who will actually to listen to you, instead of cutting you off, and actually wants to help you. Listening is everything. In a small community word of mouth gets around. Whoever answers your calls is heartless and shameful and they're giving your business a bad reputation.

The practitioner did not review my chart prior to meeting me so my so called 45 minute treatment was far less. I came in to gain mobility from a fractured elbow surgery and the practitioner spent a lot of time diagnosing other conditions of the arm rather than addressing the issue at hand. i was given after hours appointments which were unacceptable for me since I cannot drive in the dark. When I mentioned this the practitioner seemed to be upset and said he did not want to work overtime either, so he was doing me some sort of favor. Then I found out the actual cost of this so called treatment, $1200.00 for the first two visits?? So $600 for about 30 minutes of the practitioner's time and maybe an actual 20 minutes of doing anything to address the elbow. My advise is avoid this place and if you can research and do your own PT, do it, it is crazy expensive everywhere with minimal results. I seriously think insurance companies need to re-examine the amount they should authorize for PT, it is not rocket science or brain surgery.

One of the worst hospital experiences I've ever had, and the nurse we dealt with made an already…read moretraumatic situation even worse. When my father was dying, a nurse assigned to him was extremely rude and dismissive. It still sticks with me years later. She was a blonde, middle-aged nurse, though I don't remember her name. We asked if a relative could come see my dad, and she snapped back, "I told you no, do you not understand?" Her tone was unnecessarily harsh and completely lacking in compassion for a family actively watching someone die. She also told us we could no longer stay overnight with our unconscious, dying father, which felt cold and insensitive given the circumstances. This wasn't an isolated experience--just one example of the kind of treatment we encountered. I hope she is no longer working as a nurse, because no one should be treated that way during such a vulnerable time. I also wish I had filed an official complaint, but I was too traumatized at the time to do so. In total, we were in and out of multiple hospitals for 6 months. The majority of nurses we were encountered were kind, which is why her attitude stuck out so much. Some people really shouldn't be in a line of work where emphathy is so important. Because of the care we experienced here, we ultimately realized we needed to move after my father's death to ensure better access to more compassionate and reliable care for ourselves in the future.

I find that being able to do your PT work with others made the recovery all the more enjoyable. They were especially tolerant of my sense of humor!
