It was about an hour drive from Fort Worth, and it's eight dollars per person to enter the park. Your access gives you the ability to visit all national parks for the period in which you bought your ticket so 24 hours total. There's various trials you can do, we ultimately ended up doing two, and the moderate one is quite difficult due to the terrain. However, the overlook was a straightforward trail with a beautiful view at the end. I would say the times a lot to each trail are accurate, you wanna ensure you get there early because it does get hot in mind you it is Texas in the summertime. We packed lots of snacks, and had our water. We also took some time to dip our feet in and look at the Dino tracks up close. There's so many ways you can spend your day here, however, some quick exercise, and beautiful views definitely doesn't go wrong! You also get the opportunity to learn lots, and we took the time to take all the knowledge we could by reading through the exhibit in the welcome center. (:

The scenery was beautiful the attractions were great I loved everything. My dog was happy. I only wished I had used my off I had brought but forgot in the car. I went on the butterfly trail and the connection trail and part of the Jim Bowie trail. The bird blind and windmill were awesome. FYI if needed there is a restroom in the butterfly garden. The garden had so many flowers when I was there and the Bowie trail had lots of prairie view scenes as well as flowers and cedar bushes. I recommend highly. There are a lot of covered picnic tables. Entry is free but they have a spot for donations at the start of the trail by the " human sundial " attraction.

There were some wonderful employees and enjoyable moments, but there were also several disappointments that made it difficult to justify the $485 we spent for our family of three (including my 12- and 14-year-old sons). When we first arrived, the woman at the entrance was very friendly and helpful. We asked how to make the most of our day, and she suggested visiting the overlook, café, gift shop, and the Wildlife Experience before our 11:00 a.m. tour. She also explained that tour vehicles returned every 60 minutes and implied that we could either get off at the overlook or stay on the vehicle if we preferred. The Wildlife Experience was enjoyable, and we appreciated that recommendation. Our first tour guide was excellent--friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. However, he also told us we would stop at the overlook for about 45 minutes before another vehicle returned. It appears remaining on the vehicle was not an option. After eating lunch and browsing the gift shop, we returned outside around 12:05 p.m. A vehicle arrived, but it was for a private tour. We were told another one would arrive in about 15 minutes. Instead, we waited until approximately 1:05 p.m., with around 30 people waiting. This is where the experience became frustrating. The young female driver announced she was picking up the 10:00 a.m. tour group, but then allowed at least one couple from our 11:00 a.m. group to board. When I asked about our group, she said boarding was "first come, first served," which directly contradicted what she had just told everyone. After making a phone call, she rearranged passengers so our family could board, she knew I was upset. She was informative during the drive, although her microphone stopped working and she had to raise her voice. That part was understandable. What I did find unprofessional was her repeated use of slang such as "trust" throughout her presentation. It felt out of place for a guided educational tour. I also noticed several children who appeared to be three years old or younger sitting in seats without an adult directly beside them, which raised some safety concerns. After the tour, we arrived at the Lodge around 2:10 p.m., knowing check-in wasn't until 3:00 p.m. The front desk employee politely explained that our room wasn't ready unless we had purchased early check-in, which we completely understood. We spent some time shopping in town before returning. The staff member who checked us in later was very friendly, and gave us a tour of the lodge. Our room itself was nice, clean, and had an extremely comfortable bed. Unfortunately, the lodge itself was not what we expected based on the photos online. There is very little to do on the property. While it's understandable that guests cannot freely explore because of the wildlife, we expected more amenities. We discovered board games ourselves, only to find many were missing pieces or broken. We also learned there was no pool table, despite it still appearing in Google photos. We were later told it had been removed approximately two years ago. Updating the online photos would help set more accurate expectations for future guests. That evening, heavy rain moved through the area. The ceiling fan light in our room would not turn off, and the fan remote was not functioning properly. Since there is no room phone, we had to call through Fossil Rim's main system to reach someone at the lodge. A staff member came to our room around 12:14 a.m. and was extremely kind and apologetic. He attempted to fix the problem but did not have a replacement remote or battery. He offered us a portable fan and later a lantern, which we appreciated, although neither solved the issue. His customer service was excellent despite the situation being unresolved. Breakfast the following morning was acceptable, and we appreciated having access to the dining area throughout the evening. There were no spoons, so I had to go downstairs and ask for some. The lady came up and went into the blocked for "Staff Only" , kitchen and got them out of the dish washer, then proceeded to turn on the dishwasher, so we hope our spoons were clean. Overall, the Wildlife Experience was decent, especially for families with younger children, and several employees provided outstanding customer service. However, the confusion surrounding the shuttle system, inconsistent communication, outdated online photos, limited lodge activities, and maintenance issues made the overall experience fall short of expectations. For $485 for the lodge and tour, I don't feel the overnight lodge stay provided enough value, particularly for families with older children or teenagers. If you're visiting, I would recommend the Wildlife Experience and safari, but I would carefully consider whether staying overnight at the Lodge is worth the additional

She was so informative and shared fascinating insights about the animals and the history of the land. I was genuinely surprised to learn they've discovered dinosaur footprints and fossils right in the ridge--it added such a cool layer to the tour. From the giraffes to the cheetahs and everything in between, we loved getting up close. Being able to feed animals I never thought I'd encounter was a highlight. It felt like such a personal, high-quality experience rather than just a drive-through. We are already planning our return trip to try the "Behind the Scenes" package!

Probably 20 people or more had set their chairs on the concrete dance floor and when the MC who has been doing this for years came up to speak he did not say anything to these people taking up the dance floor! Several people around us left saying if there is no place to dance what's the point? The solution is to have a sign printed and placed on front of stage that says NO CHAIRS ALLOWED ON CONCRETE DANCE FLOOR. Simple solution but I bet they will not do this! Shame on the MC for not having a backbone to stand up for the rest of us!!

A charming, small, lighted Riverwalk with multiple benches, trash cans, "doggie" bags, sturdy steps…read moreand railings which runs parallel and just east of Historic Downtown Glen Rose. We "discovered" this charming, nicely constructed walkway after enjoying a riverside picnic dinner. We were enticed by the newer, smoother-looking walkway and entrance we could see from the Pavilion at Paluxy Heritage Park--what better activity for post-mealtime than a walk!? The Riverwalk features a dock/platform where people could potentially pull kayaks, SUPs, or canoes along the edge and either paddle down river, go for a quick restroom break (there's one up the hill at Paluxy Heritage Park near the Pavillion), or take a rest. During our walk, I was happy to spot one small cluster of cheerful white and yellow wildflowers I had not yet seen in Texas near the trail and enjoyed seeing the homes across the road--a couple with some very southern features--especially the beautiful wrap-around porches! I also enjoyed trying to walk faster than the SUPer down on the river below in an attempt to start a small race. The most special surprise of all was that this Riverwalk led us to a large Dam (intended for recreational use with steps on either side). From there, you can cross over the dam and walk to Big Rocks Park - a site to behold from the dam and a bit like Enchanted Rock on a MUCH smaller scale with many large...I mean BIG ROCKS. For a girl-turned-woman who STILL collect rocks, this was a dream come true!! We were delighted that we chose this walk as it turned into even more of an adventure than anticipated and made us almost glad that Dinosaur Valley State Park closed early (7pm on weekends for day use--at least temporarily during COVID) as we gained a whole new and WONDERFUL perspective of what the small town of Glen Rose has on offer--and its much more than Dinosaurs and Fossils with many features and activities I consider quintessentially Texan in the best of ways! There's a certain feeling that can't be named in the goodness of a hot Texas summer spent on, in, or near the water with cold drinks, smells of campfire/BBQ, and good company - it's so rich and so good it's spiritual! This experience, and the wonder it filled me with, gave me that pure, untainted Texas goodness that only those who have spent time in, and love, Texas understand.

A paved trail that takes you to the dam, and Big Rocks Park. You walk across the dam to get to the big rocks! Oh, Master Gardeners also has their garden here. A nice little riverside park just east of historic, downtown Glen Rose- this park features a large,…read morelighted pavilion WITH FANS (amazing feature in TEXAS heat!!), walking trail, restroom, small flower/butterfly garden, a playground--part of which features a shade covering, a few, small, historic buildings, and access to the Glen Rose River Walk. This made a GREAT spot for us to eat our combo packed and takeout dinner after finding out that nearby Dinosaur Valley State Park now (last weekend of June 2020) closes at 7pm for day-use on weekends due to COVID-19. This was the perfect motivator to pick-up a to go order from one of the most uniquely Texan restaurants I know --Loco Coyote! With a bit of driving, we were able to pick up our order and head to this park where we found ample seating in the forms of picnic tables and benches with less than a handful of people visiting the park at the time. During our picnic dinner, a group of kayakers and SUPers paddled by on the river below the pavilion creating some lovely dinnertime entertainment!
