Family run business and so kind! Water is nice and its never packed like Guadalupe river. Always a fun time to go! Just make sure to check if the dam was closed off because the river will dry up quick, making the water have no flow and very hot water. read more

While I've been here several times throughout the years and never had any bad thing to say about this place , today was the first time I ever experienced absolutely rude service. She acted as if we inconvenience her and that she hated her job. Ranted about us leaving our tubes tied up and not even trying to untie them right in front of us as our husbands were in the middle of getting them untied, then cusses about us not helping her put the tubes in her trailer. To be honest I didn't know I was suppose to. I am a very friendly person and had she just asked nicely if we would all put our tubes in I would have done it no problem! Our trip started good, but ended terribly. when we were dropped off at the river, we asked where the take out point was and were told to watch for signs and that you can't miss it. There were no signs, and the company didn't answer their phone all day. We never found the intended place to get out, and when we finally did exit the river, we still could not reach the company by phone (had been trying all day). We ended up getting the sherif's department to take us back. They had closed, knowing we were still on the river (our car was in the parking lot) and had no concern about our safety. read more

It's a quite a ways away from Dallas, but not as far as the fucking drive down to the Guadalupe. Imagine drinking all day while floating the river and getting shit faced and driving all the way back from there! No fucking way! The Rhodes Canoe Rentals serves the Brazos River and addition to canoes, they also have kayaks, tubes for yourself, and separate tubes for your rolling cooler filled with your fav canned alcoholic beverages. Note: Don't be a fucking douchenozzle and bring glass bottles. Getting your feet cut open by broken glass takes the fun out of the whole event. Also, remember to keep your trash with you. Seeing empty beer cans along the river isn't cool. Don't be a douchebug. They have a parking lot on the right side of their building and they will shuttle you and your group to the drop off point down by the river. Note: Matt Foley does NOT live in a van by this river! I went twice this summer. They are quick. No long waits. Also accommodating. I brought 2 dogs (husky mix and a corgi) on one trip. I don't recommend bringing your dogs though. My husky kept climbing out of her tube in the beginning and then settled down and enjoyed the ride. She was just really excited. On your ride back, be prepared to close your eyes and mouth. They are driving through sand, so there's a ton of dust. You can rinse it off back at their office. This is a hidden gem honestly. It's better than driving down to San Marcos and riding a crowded river. Bring Rope! read more

We rented a two-person canoe last weekend. $32. They may not take credit cards; I'm not sure. Take cash with you just to be safe. The place is pretty rundown, but the staff was friendly and quick. We loaded up in an old beat up 15-passenger van. Three or four minutes later, we were at the river. They put our canoe in the water, and off we went. The river was pretty high and moving at a nice pace, which was great. There are no rapids. The water level varies greatly throughout the season, depending on how much water they are letting out of Lake Granbury. The trip would have taken about three hours, but we stopped on a sandbar in the middle of the river and fished for awhile. It was beautiful!! They have tubes available for rent. The tubes move a lot slower in the water, so the tubing trips are longer. They also have a few one person kayaks to rent, but only a few. They will give you life jackets. Bring your own cooler, drinks, food, fishing poles, or whatever. We got out of the river at the designated exit point. The staff helped us get the canoe out of the water. We got back in the dirty van for a short 10-minute drive back to the shop. This place is nothing fancy, but if you're looking for a simple river trip, it's perfect. And the Brazos River is lovely. read more

If you need to rent something to travel down the river in, that is what you will get here. The "office" was a small trailer that appeared to be someone's home also, and was quite unkept inside. The whole process seemed disorganized, and we weren't given any Information on the float, like where to get out or times or anything. When we asked, those who knew could answer. We even had a hard time finding out when we were leaving or if we were able to get in the van. They had a couple of volunteers who were friendly but didn't have any information to share. Price was cheap, $10 each, so that was nice. Cash only! We rented 5 tubes, with 3 kid tubes in there, but when we showed up to the river, we discovered they only put one on the trailer. They said they would unload, drive back, load it up, and then bring it to us. We knew that could take an undetermined (long time) so luckily we were able to use 2 regular tubes for 2 of the older kids. The ride back is dusty. Close your mouth, and don't expect to go anywhere semi-decent when you're done. There's a water hose to rinse off with when you get back, so make sure to use that. read more

Do not rent from here. Go next door to Low Water Bridge Rentals. We had a peaceful trip of older couples on a trip and ended at the shore for pickup. A young, drunk group was offended by our music and started cursing and eventually punched some of our friends numerous times for no reason at all. We kept our cool and called the police and told the van driver from Rhodes to hold the van until the police came. Well, the van driver took off saying they would try to hold the group at the home office...which they didnt. In fact the cops stopped his van on the way back and he lied that he did not have anyone in the van who was involved in an altercation. So, basically we had a great trip ruined with one person in the hospital and another with a hurt jaw and no one to pay for what they did. Integrity is something that Rhodes driver is lacking. read more

This is what it is. If you want to borrow a tube and float down the river than they can make it work for you. They are extremely unorganized and don't put much thought into customer service. It is a decent price, $10 for a tube and a ride to and from the water. You pay and then kinda stand around until their van pulls up you have to ask if you can hop on and then it's the dirtiest van ever. It is for people coming to and from the river so you are shouldn't expect super clean, but that thing hasn't been vacuumed in awhile. The float was a lot of fun and the tubes where fine. They pick us up and took us back to the car. We had fun, but dealing with the company was just ok. Everything worked out and was fun. Just would like an attempt at customer service, and attempt at cleanliness. read more

It was a good two hour trip down river in rented tubes for my wife, daughter, and myself. One rental for the ice chest. They charge more now than last year. It's now $15 per tube rental. I don't mind the raise in price, but I think they should throw in the tube rental for the ice chest for free, or at least drop it down to like $5. Just my opinion. Other than that, the people are really kind folks, and quick at giving you service. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Prices went up and trips were cut down to 1/4 of what they were. The guys who picked us up were high as a kite and talking about how good the weed was that they smoked. I guess that's better than the meth heads last year that picked us up. Needless to say, after giving this place a few chances, it's a no go. When I called to ask why our trip was cut so short, the jerk hung up on me. These are the nastiest, dirtiest, white trash people you will deal with on the Brazos. We've been using Rhodes for years, and they have never let us down. The people are friendly and always very helpful. Rhodes rents tubes, kayaks and canoes, and they provide a shuttle service to and from the Brazos river. Their fees are very reasonable. Last year (2010) the tubes were $10 each, and you can expect to spend anywhere from 3 to 6 hours on the river. Maybe longer if you dilly dally (like us). Remember to rent a tube for your cooler, and bring plastic bags for your trash. No glass bottles, but cans are ok. I'd recommend bringing plenty of drinking water because there's not much shade, and the sun gets hot! And sunscreen, of course. The vans Rhodes uses don't have air conditioning and are quite dirty (due to the volume of sand-covered clients that climb in and out of them each weekend). But the shuttle to and from the river takes between 5 and 10 minutes, so that's not much of a big deal. They provide a great service and a wonderful way to relax and enjoy an inexpensive weekend. read more

Went to Rhodes Rentals today and for $60 we were provided tubes, delivery to the river, pickup from the river, smiles, conversation, and friendly service. It's a family owned, 44 yrs and counting, business with everything you need to float the river. It's a comfortable family kind of place, no frills. If you want fancy floating go to a pricey water park. If you want to float down a real river with real nature, check out Rhodes Rentals on Hwy 67, Glen Rose. Friendly service with a smile. Helpful staff. My family had a great time floating the river. This is not comparable to the Guadalupe but fun anyways. Water flowed slowly but the kids just swam and splashed along the way. We stopped a few times to swim on the beaches. read more

Me and my 2 friends came here to have a relaxing afternoon tubing. However, 4 hours in when we hadn't seen a single person we started getting a little worried. The river was so shallow we had to walk and this business would not return any of our calls. I got on the phone once saying we were lost and she said to keep going. 7 hours later we are still walking, no one bothers to answer the phone after calling at least 10 times for help. We finally arrive at a construction zone where we are able to find our first human being since 10 am, and they drove us to the road where a family member picked us up. When we arrived back the owner refused to give me my car keys until I brought his tubes which we left a long way back due to fatigue and distress. Thankfully we were able to get home but felt very upset that they didn't bother to call or check in after the 3 hour trip became a 7 hour test of survival wandering throughout the abandoned section of the Brazos. The owner said to never come back and I can assure you I won't be returning. Solid 1/10. read more
