This is it! This is the place. They have a crazy wonderful assortment of options for your coffee. You can truly make it what you want. The burrito was like a pressed wrap and it was super filling and delicious. There were quite a few people there on Sunday morning but they got our order our quickly. It was slightly loud there with all of the people though it was definitely a local joint. I wish we lived closer so we could go back...we've still been talking about it weeks later. I got the pumpkin fluff cold brew and it wasn't too sweet and the coffee didn't taste like it had been sitting out. Love this place! read more

The food is good. I need to make that point right off the bat. I come for the breakfast wrap, which is prepared to order and finished in a panini press, served with salsa. It's delicious! However, the coffee is terrible. Their drip coffee is gas-station caliber, or worse, depending on the gas station. I've often tasted the dish soap residue from their carafes, at the Lakeshore drive location. And, at the 5th St location, the house blend sometimes, but not always, tastes like some flavored coffee residue gets mixed in. This usually happens when you use the same equipment for both, and don't thoroughly rinse after preparing flavored blends. The service is hit-or-miss. Some of the staff are very friendly and capable, others seem to be yearning to be any place but at work. I was a barista for several years, and I know that feeling well, but good service means being able to keep that to yourself and putting the business first. My impression is that I've received better service, more consistently from the 5th St. location. Finally, I don't think the staff at either location know how to use the espresso machine. I have high standards for my espresso, but I also know how much practice and luck it takes to pull a perfect shot, steam exquisite milk, and keep up with the morning rush. So, when I say the latte's and cappuccinos are just random admixtures of coffee and warmed milk, it indicates a lack of training on the part of management. Espresso is generally overextracted and has been left to cool too long before adding milk. The milk is either flat and lukewarm, or its sticky and almost scalded. One time, my latte was both, suggesting the wand wasn't properly wiped and purged between drinks. As harsh as that sounds, the food is very good. They offer hot meals and fresh pastries, and they have a creative menu of specialty drinks that seem to be designed for their regular clientele. Obviously, my taste is more in line with more traditional Italian-style espresso. If you are more fond of heavily sweetened/flavored drinks you will likely have a much better experience. My own time behind the bar taught me not to judge other people's tastes. It's just coffee. And, the food is good. read more

Love this place, but am unable to give it a full five stars. Here are my thoughts: 1. The Engineer sandwich is DELICIOUS. It took forever for them to make, but well worth it if you have fifteen minutes to sit in the drive-through. 2. World War II mocha was my favorite drink. Tasted great every time. 3. Their salads and soups were great!....when they had them. MANY times I went there around noon and they were out of lettuce, or soup, or bread... 4. They were often out of what I wanted to buy - be it a bagel, salad, soup, or sandwich - you could never guarantee that what was on their menu was actually offered that day. read more

For Storm Lake, it's pretty good. The place is cute, but they could do a better job keeping it clean. The food is tasty and the coffee is pretty good. read more

Great place to stop at if your in town visiting Buena Vista University. It is the quintessential college place and has Wifi to get work done and grab a quality coffee or caffeinated beverage. I would recommend getting their Turtle drink which is one of their signatures. Great young knowledgable staff who is willing to put a smile on your day. read more

This coffee shop is absolutely dreadful. They have absolutely no originality. They constantly take ideas from other local shops and try to POORLY recreate them. Their beans are less than medicore and they do not know how to properly prepare drinks and poor shots over ice! A barista 101 NO-NO! Don't even get me started on their service! Slow and the workers are rude. The shop is absolutely disgusting. They scrape milk off their steamers with spoons. Gag! read more

I love the coffee station! They have hard scoop blue bunny ice cream there to purchase too. My fav ice cream is scooper hero and you can't find it in stores but this place has it! My brother and my cousin both LOVE the white chocolate mochas. For almost every get together with my friends this is the place we go. The grilled cheese is to die for. They always keep the place tidy and cozy. I also love how every thing there is themed trains! It's because 1) they are by the train tracks 2) the building used to be one of the train stations in storm lake! It's like a mini Starbucks in storm lakes mind! ;) read more

We came in out of curiosity as we heard that they served soup and sandwiches as well as the usual coffee shop fare. It was a very good decision. We tried two different sandwiches, both of which were grilled wraps and both were excellent. I tend to be skeptical about menu items in coffee shops but the "Steam Engine" and "John's Choice" both were imaginative, generous, and delicious. The Santa Fe Beef soup was delicious as well. If we manage to stop in again while we're still in Storm Lake I intend to try the Avocado Grilled Cheese. read more

This place isn't a coffee shop. It's a restaurant that primarily serves food and can serve you a bad espresso drink (the employees clearly aren't well trained in this area) if you want. As a result the atmosphere is rushed like a restaurant, where you feel like you need to leave once you've finished to make room for the next customer. If it had called itself a lunch/sandwich place, I would've been happy with my experience as the food isn't bad. But because this establishment insists on calling itself a "coffee shop", I was just disappointed and my expectations were not met on any level. This place is the sole reason I've invested in equipment to be able to make espresso and pour overs at home. read more

Today I stop for a latte at this coffee station. Not good. Medium latte with skim milk and no flavor. Could not taste the espresso no kick in latte. Asked the lady working there how many shots of coffee she put in it. Was informed that they put two shots. I think their machine is broke, because this latte definitely did not have two shots in it. When ask if they wanted to make this right was told that I would have to pay for an additional shot. To be fair I have stopped there before and have never had any complaints. read more
