    Plate from buffet

The Grand China Buffet is one of the better buffets I have been to. The waitress we had was very friendly attentive clearing our empty dishes and filled our water glasses. They have Mongolian grill but typically I selected from their buffet entrees. The food is fresh, always filled and hot. Overall I thought this is one of the better Chinese buffets I have been to in Omaha. My only knock is the decor (tables and chairs) are very basic. Overall this was a great visit and will plan to visit them again in the future. I would recommend this buffet to others.

Old food disgusting so old can't even chew it of course. No refunds so I paid to post this review

    Roaches in restaurant

I found roaches when I went to change my daughters diaper!!! There were flys on the food and when I left I didn't realize they had charged me $24 more. That was minor, I threw up in the parking lot because I couldn't shake the thought that I had just ate there!

Crab Rangoon cooked w bug on the menuyummy extra protein

Crab Rangoon with extra protein very much needed Waiters are nice tho Pretty long waiting line so you'd think the food is worth the wait but whatever you get what you payed for Me and wifey are not impressed Ambience is pretty nice ig

While eating my meal, I found a bug that had been cooked in its my dish. When talking to the manager, she informed me this was normal, and if I had a question I should go ask the people in the ocean. Don't waist your time or money.

This was the Won Ton Soup.

We went into a buffet experience not expecting much but the reviews looked good so we thought...eh...how bad can it be? The answer my friends, is bad, very, very BAD. The food was bizarre, out of the 40 options there were only 5 or 6 Chinese dishes and they were falsely labeled. The broccoli and beef had no beef in it. The won ton soup was water with fish balls (see picture). The steamed buns were a tasteless ball of mush that we might have been forced to spit out into napkins. And the tea was definitely mislabeled because at no point had tea leaves ever touched the pot of hot water we received. There are no labels on the majority of dishes but it appeared the rest was pizza, french fries and fried stuff that was unidentifiable - just chunks of fried stuff. The bacon wrapped shrimp initially seemed exciting until we realized the bacon was raw. It seems a lot of people like the shrimp and crayfish. So if you want to pay for just those dishes perhaps it's a good deal. We considered getting the Mongolian grill because it seemed like the only way to get fresh food. But even though the place was open until 9:30 pm, the grill area was closed by 7:15 pm. Staff were mopping the whole area down. Alternatively, there could have been a water leakage that they were frantically trying to contain. By 7:30 pm the staff had stopped updating the buffet and were cleaning the whole restaurant around the poor patrons trying to eat. The Health Department rates the Grand China Buffet at 1126 Chicago Circle as FAIR reviewed on 5/16/18 and the risk was HIGH. It's like playing Russian Roulette with all the chambers full - you have been warned.

The staff were nice but the sushi was disgusting! It had been sitting out for a bit and the rice on it was hard.

Not bad. Some of the food was a bit dry and salty but what do you expect for the price.

Actually not too bad. I was prepared to see a place full of American Chinese food, but I ended up having a good time there. Even found 小龙虾!

Lots to choose from, fair prices, lots of seating. Don't forget to go around the sushi so you can find the scoop your own ice cream.

I might stick to that and try the Mongolian Grill next time, then finish off with a scoop of Blue Bunny.

The only rough spot is that it's quite popular. One must arrive early or call to find out when the next wave of diners might be departing. The staff. From greeting to departure, we have felt welcome and appreciated. Not sucked-up-to. Appreciated. It's like they dig what they're doing. Feels great. This is doubly true for us when dining at the bar. We had a great conversation with the gent serving, and enjoyed him nearly as much as the meal. The fish. So fresh. So tasty. Soft. Perfectly cut. Mmm. Parking is pretty simple. Plenty of space behind the building. Chill neighborhood, too. Felt quite safe. At some point, I need to try some of the many other types of Japanese cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and Thai cuisine. This place makes me wish I lived in Bellevue.

They also have a pretty wide menu beyond sushi, including Thai and Chinese dishes, which is a nice if you're dining with people who want something different. The only downside for us is the location- it's a bit of a drive from where we are. Otherwise, we'd probably find ourselves going more often.

If you're feeling indulgent, splurge on the sake pairing as well to truly round out the experience. Service is always excellent and the hidden door entrance starts the night off right, letting you know from the start you are in for a treat. The food differs every time, but the foie gras rice starts it off every time and sets the stage for what's to come.

If you heard about a sushi omakase place in the middle of America, what would you think? I bet…read moreit's probably not fresh-tasting raw dishes or wow-level sushi omakase. But there is a James Beard-level recognized chef here, in Omaha, that is delivering fresh-tasting raw and other omakase dishes week after week - geography be damned. His name is David Utterback. It's incredibly difficult to get reservations at this eight-seat omakase called Ota. Moreso than any omakase in my hometown on an island in the middle of the Pacific. In fact, I dont think he needs this review - the best don't need to advertise. I also don't think we have a sushi chef here in Hawaii that is as nationally-acclaimed as Utterback. So we were very interested to try. And we were very lucky to get reservations. I dont think there is a parking lot for this restaurant, which is tucked within his also highly-regarded Yoshitomo restaurant. So if you from Hawaii like me, and get lucky with the reservations, gotta roll da dice on parallel street parking. That's code for come early ;) (parking is free in the area) W-h-e-n you do arrive at Yoshitomo, there is a small - hidden - waiting area within Yoshitomo where you will be asked to wait for the omakase to begin. The dark photo with the lantern and Ota sign is in that waiting room. - And frankly - That's all that needs to be shown in a photo cause the omakase course itself varies depending on chef's tastes and what's available that week. The courses we had will likely not be the entirety of the courses you have. But the rice might be the same. There is a special black vinegar that chef uses to add to the rice. Ask him about it. There is a whole story behind it ;) So my photos are small in number. They are the highlights of our experience and what stood out to me that is beyond anything I've tried in Hawaii or elsewhere (including the black-vinegar sushi rice) Enjoy - cause we most certainly did :)
