This place has never steered me wrong. The price for lunch/dinner are reasonable. People think dinners the best for more seafood (and it is), but I was very surprised with the variety of seafood they also have for lunch, which was certainly a treat! I love the quality and varieties of food, and there's always something for everyone. It puts other China Buffets to shame for me with the variety you get for the price. Most of the food was dry and flavorless. A good amount of the trays are not labeled properly, so I want sure what I was getting. The customer service was not great either, it would be nice if they had at least said excuse me when almost running into us while adding more food to the buffet. Thurs night dinner. Pepper chicken & general was really good, along with lo mein. Near flavorless fried rice (better with sweet & sour). I've been here multiple times before but remembered a better flavored crab rangoon (& these are sooo tiny!). Sushi was decent. I'm not sure why they have a dessert bar since almost all of it has no sweetness factor (except the Blue Bunny ice cream). Straight and to the point, Grand China Buffet is China Buffet on roids with a lil less attention to the Mongolian Grill. If you have eaten it at China Buffet you probably eaten about half of what this place has to offer and that's were this place shines. The sheer madness of the amount of food on tap is the main reason why I will drive from Bellevue (which has a China Buffet) and drive to Grand to get my happy tummy goodness. Along with the usual flare you will also find a few new gems in there and some stuff to test your openness to food. Also on tap is a sushi bar with above average sushi which for me was a surprise for a ok priced buffet. A word of warning to all you crab leg lovers, this place is a practice of patience because apparently people around here inhale them as soon as they come out the back. Now by no means is any of the food out of this world but I don't leave dissappointed since there are so many options that it would b almost impossible to not find something that puts a lil smile on your face. Average food. Not bad not good. For sure good value! This buffet is what you would expect from a chinese buffet in the Midwest. Lunch is $8. Used a -$3 coupon off their website (for 3 or more people) so basically with tax and tip, $9 a person for a lunch buffet. No wonder this place was like 60 percent full of people during lunch. Decent variety: american fried meats (chicken nuggets, onion rings), chinese take out food, with the usual lo mein, fried rice, sesame chicken, cheesy seafoods, Crab Rangoon, spring rolls, with maybe 1 or 2 traditional Chinese food (longevity and custard buns). Basic sushi (a lot of rolls with cream cheese.. Is that a thing in Omaha?) that was okay. Desserts were basic some fruits, jello, pudding, and premade desserts. Tried it for the first time today and I like it. It has a clean and ornate environment. The service was fast and friendly. There are 6 buffet bars as well as a sushi and mongolian grill station. They have a lot of authentic chinese dishes vs the americanized food you see at most buffets. The black pepper chicken was really good. I'll be back. read more

Being on the road 3 weeks per month, I can only survive 2 days without rice. Lo and behold, comes Grand China Buffet. Selection is great, food is okay and the staff are very attentive. Can't really compare to San Francisco Bay Area buffets, but anything with rice will do for tonight. read more

One of the biggest china buffet in Omaha. There's a lot of options from sushi, hot food, Mongolian grill, salad bar, fruits, to dessert and ice cream. They no longer serve crab legs. There was always a line for it and I guess they couldn't keep up so they replaced it with salt and pepper crabs. It taste great with some lemon and butter sprinkled on. They also have hot soups. 4 different kind. They have American food also. The prices are reasonable but again I don't think I eat enough for the price although you can get anything for one price here at the buffet than at any other food restaurant for this price. Lunch is cheaper. Everyone is here on Friday nights to Sunday nights. It's the most popular time and days. Other than that, it is one of the most popular buffet Omaha has to offer. read more

I don't know how this buffet has 4 stars. The food is mediocre. Probably would have been best to just go to McDonalds. Long story short, although there is variety the food is not fresh. Everything looks like it had been sitting since the morning. Well, it's a Saturday and it's busy. Could that be reason for the low quality food? The only thing I actually enjoyed was the plantain. People who enjoy Spam or frozen dinners shouldn't miss this one. Terrible! I didn't eat one thing that was worthy of human consumption. This is definitely for the Golden Corral crowd. Crab legs are very low grade and not served in clusters, they tasted old and over boiled. Even the fried rice was bland and sad. It is not super fancy but the food is great. I will admit once in awhile if you come late the food is not as good. They serve the best sushi I have ever had! I rarely have dessert here but they have fruit as well if you want to keep it light. And when in season the have crab legs. The only thing they have that I'm not a fan of is calamari. Me and my husband always eat here before we go to the movies. And since I have an auto immune disease I have not gotten sick after visiting once! I have been out of Omaha for 2 years and I simply cannot believe how utterly BAD this place has become. Coming back for a 3 day business trip, I saved going here until the eve of my leaving because it was always a great place to dine. The food was always fresh, hot and delicious... what a difference 2 years makes. I arrived around 4:45 for dinner and there were maybe a dozen people there. Yes, that's a little early for dinner, but I was really looking forward to it since I hadn't eaten here for a long time. Simply put, the food was horrible. The peal and eat shrimp had sat so long that they were all soggy, the sushi was ok, but not nearly as fresh as it used to be, the hot dishes were even worse... all the dishes were barely warm if not cold and they had most likely been there since the lunch hour. Bland tasting and simply gross. The service was just as bad. I cannot stress my disappointment enough and I would suggest that you find another place for a Chinese buffet. The buffet has alot of food selections. Whether it be lunch or dinner, there are many that come to enjoy tasteful chinese and sushi. The crab legs are delicious. It's warm not frozen, which I prefer. Aside from the wide variety of desserts, there are 6 different types of ice cream. If you decide to come here make sure you have an empty stomach, try everything once, and to take your time. I came here with my coworkers for lunch one day on a business trip. All things considered, this place defied my expectations. Coming from NY, where Chinese buffets are as common as McDonald's, I was pleasantly surprised. The place was pretty packed, even though we got there at around 2pm. The interior is pretty typical of any other Chinese buffet. The food selection is pretty standard, and is varied enough that you can have about 3-4 plates of completely different food. In particular, there is one table/area that contains all of the deep fried food, for those that are interested. They had stuff like sweet and sour chicken, wonton soup, beef and broccoli, etc. What's a little more unique is that they have a mongolian grill section as well, so you can pick a bunch of ingredients and have someone stir fry it up for you. They also had blue bunny ice cream for dessert. The waitress was also kind enough to accept the 3 dollar off coupon I found on the website while on my phone. I wanted to give this place a 3.5 since the food was alright and not spectacular, but given how cheap this was after the coupon I bumped it up to a 4. Also the staff were speaking Mandarin, so this actually seems to be run by Chinese people, which is a plus. read more

Grand China Buffet - this is the place to go if you don't care how many calories you you eat at one setting. I usually take my old man here when he wants to fill up on mud bugs and frog legs. They have just about everything from duck to chicken. The mussels w/cheese are the best I have ever had along with the bacon wrapped shrimp. They have crab legs but it looks like they don't last too long on the buffet table. Their service is pretty good for the amount of people that are moved through this place. Really gross. I was craving some nasty/delicious Americanized Chinese food so we went here because this place had good reviews. Everything was nasty - literally!! I couldn't finish anything on my plate, and I am by no means a picky eater. Everything was cold and soggy - the frog legs, crab legs, crab rangoon, the stir fry, etc. I am extremely disappointed. This place frankly is barely acceptable. The only worst rating one can receive is "Fair", which mean's you'll be shut down if you fall below there. THAT causes me a great deal of concern. What is going on in "the back of the house" that causes this place in a former car dealership building to get such poor ratings? I believe it's just not good cleanliness. Their Mongolian BBQ is an absolute joke.. They have about 6 items from which to choose and only a couple sauces. The employee at the grill speaks almost no English so you have to point to what you want.. He also does not understand the term "Please Cook My Food With Water So It Does Not Get So Dry" OR "Please cook my broccoli all the way". Their food on the buffet is barely warm even at the height of the dinner rush.. Most of the fried foods are far greasier than they should be and they are not on racks so the food is kept out of the grease. Instead of having an ice cream machine (expensive, at $15,000+ for a good one), they have the large 5-gallon buckets of ice cream into which you dip a scoop.. This means people who do not wash their hands are grabbing the same things, touching the ice cream, etc. 2 blocks north of there on 114th street, HuHot (West side of street) and China Buffet are far better choices, although the China Buffet on 147th & Maple near Lowe's is cleaner and better than the 114th location. Been in here a few times and the buffet is great. The last time I had issues with the bus personnel trying to take my plate while I was still eating. Pretty annoying. This trip I came in with THEIR 10% off coupon. They took the coupon, but didn't apply a discount. I showed her and she took it back and then applied it. Came here on Sunday for the crab legs and they did not disappoint! Fresh food all around, the buffet was always stocked and they have a good variety. My girlfriend and I went here for lunch yesterday and we were both impressed by the variety. The food was good and we tried new things. I tried the Mongolian Grill and they did an awesome job! I didn't get to try everything, but I think I have a new favorite Chinese restaurant on my list. The only thing that I didn't care for was we had to pay for the hot tea. My husband and I just ate here. The place has a good selection and the food was ok. But the other customers are clearly confused on how to not USE THEIR HANDS, on the food. One adult was coughing as he was getting food, our waitress was attentive to our drinks but seemed super unhappy about working. But I dont blame her since it was 80° outside, and in the building was NOTICEABLY warmer. I was melting as we ate. So, we go to get ice cream and a lady in front of us took the 1 scoop and WASHED HER HANDS off in the fountain that was meant for the scoop while not in use. Then proceed to reach down into the icecream buckets again as her hand dripped stagnant water from the scoop holding reservoir off her hand GROSS. It seemed no one understood where the scoop was supposed to go. Then...a spoon was dropped on the floor, and a customer rinsed it in the scoop reservoir and put it in the clean spoon holder. read more
