    Flat soda

This is a difficult review to write. There are some definite high notes and low notes. The staff is fantastic. Everyone we met was so helpful and kind. It made the stay relaxing and easy-going. The room was clean and had a beautiful view. Since we booked for September, it was a dream. Everything was quiet and easy-going. The perfect weather was just the cherry on top. All in all, it has been a delightful stay. Now, this part is hard to write. The restaurant. *Sigh* We had a one star experience. I just wanted a simple breakfast. I figured any hotel could provide us with a decent breakfast. To start, I was served flat Diet Coke with a film on top. Um, ew. Seriously, how hard is to make sure you have a clean glass, decent ice, and fizzy soda? I mean, if you guys struggle with this, provide a glass, ice and a bottled soda. The pancakes were hot, large and tasted decent; a win there. The scrapple seemed "off". It had the appearance of sitting out for a while. Look, you don't have a lot of people eating here. Revamp how you prep. Revamp how you serve. Revamp your menu. Keep things simple and direct. Your clients just want a decent meal; nothing exciting. You guys can do this! Your staff is, overall, wonderful. You are so close to a perfect score.

The Hotel is perfectly situated near everything. I love the fact we were right on the boardwalk! We only used our car one night, just to venture out to a "better" restaurant. Hotel is large, and clean. Room has a coffee maker and microwave, of course a refrigerator. Didn't encounter much interaction with staff. They need to remove the "Spa" off of their name! That place is shut down! The gym, is a joke. It's a room, my bathroom at home is bigger then that, and my bathroom is not huge!! It's a ROOM! In the lobby is a Java spot. Says they are open 24 hrs! But they open at 6 am. The coffee was excellent! We ordered a breakfast sandwich one morning. Had to wait for them to get the eggs from upstairs (the main restaurant). Then they assemble it. It was good. The restaurant up on 6, was good we ate breakfast one morning. There are two pools, an indoor and and outdoor. Right out the hotel door, under the hotel is the coffee shop, a pizzeria, jeweler, lol, and some gift shops. The 2nd night of 3 nights here, the fire alarms rang about 2:30 am. The whole hotel had to evacuate. Heard it was a battery end on the hotel. Better to be safe then sorry. So we were outside for about an hour. Other then that, if I came back to the area, I'd most likely stay here.

Super dirty and gross. Waste of time off and money. My infant son and mother have pinkeye from this visit and the staff acted like it was our fault. My son was walking in a walker on the carpet and the bottom of his feet turned black it was that dirty. We were on vacation for a week but left after 2 days. And they closed the spa in 2019. They still don't have it open.

First time staying at Grand Hotel, was worried about how clean it out be and location to everything. It's a very nice hotel, and the location is great and walking distance to everything. The hotel had several restaurants within the building, so you didn't have to drive anywhere for breakfast or ice cream. Our room was really nice and very, very clean. We had a little kitchen area with a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. The only thing I didn't like about it was the bathroom was a little outdated and the door swung open barely missing the toilet. Overall, I would stay again.

Yep goodies when you check in

It was ok, service was so so. And my laptop was stolen from my room. Front desk was no help at all.

First and foremost location location location. This hotel is located in the quieter section of the strip less crowded and less rowdy people making noises at night. I booked this hotel at the last minute for a family vacation for a couple of days. It's best to book here in the middle of the week because it is a lot quieter. The hotel has two pools one outdoor and one indoor has A24 hour coffee and fruit smoothie shop. It's connected to a arcade that's small and pizza shop. The bathroom in the 2nd floor where the pool is even has a sauna. The 6th floor has a restaurant so if you never want to leave the hotel you can pretty much stay there. With all that said the hotel is in need of renovations the room we stayed in was ok and I heard some reviewers talk about the carpet in the rooms which I hated and the bathroom is tight and cramped and needs remodeling. The hallways have a weird smell which I hate that comes from the shampoos used on the carpets probably and there is no extended checkout allowed. The hotel has a nice balcony and if you are ocean side it's nice to sit out and look at the waves and see the ocean in the early morning and night. The beach towels are really small also which they had bigger ones.

Everyone working there was nice and accommodating. At the front desk, if we needed something they were on it. We had a prob with our room upon arrival. We checked in on a Friday and left on a Monday, and I will say you cannot beat the location, it is a block and a half from the beach, so if you need to run back to your room to get anything, it's a five minute walk at best and it's also part of the beach, where people won't have permits and so you won't be in a super crowded area; location is perfection. Service, was somewhat difficult, because everyone was nice, but they were extremely lackadaisical. You could see it any given time during the day, people were waiting for front desk. People were waiting for the restaurant. It felt like they were completely shortstaffed, although the staff that was there was kind. Attention to detail was missing, because not only was the same stain in the elevator from Friday through Monday, but there was dirt on the floor in our room, and some stray hairs in the bathroom, (which makes me ill just thinking about it), but again it speaks to that lack of attention to detail by the cleaning staff. another example is one young woman who I watched vacuum the main lobby, was on her phone, looking a bit bored with what she was doing, and so it feels as though there may not be a standard to which they are expected to be held. In addition to the attention to detail, there were 4 to 5 different products in the bathroom and when I say products, I don't mean items, I mean brands, which is confusing, because it should be cohesive. We ran out of body wash, which they gave us a full bottle to replace it, but there was also no lotion. So again attention to detail means that the staff is checking these things regularly. That didn't seem to be the case. If the cleaning was improved, and staffing was increased, I do think this could go to a five star hotel, and would happily come back when that occurs!

You basically have to find an illegal place to park for 30 minutes, head to the front desk (which is on the first floor above ground level), unload all of your luggage and beach gear, and then move your car to a legal parking spot. Some parking is under the main building, some is under the second building across the street, and there's plenty more in a nearby overflow lot. Good luck. The stress upon arrival already had me ready to deduct a star. Then, things improved a bit. We had an oceanfront room on a high floor, and it was beautiful. Having that balcony overlooking the ocean every morning, afternoon, and evening added an extra layer of joy to our week long stay. Breakfast here was delightful. Seating can be limited, but if you head down a little early, you'll have no problem. Every morning there was a nice assortment of hot and cold items: fresh fruit, waffles, eggs, a breakfast meat, potatoes, cereal, yogurt, toast, and either pancakes or French toast sticks, plus juice and coffee. Fill up here and you may only need a light lunch. If you do get hungry later, there are plenty of options nearby...including a good pizza place right next door. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and a nice size for our family, although it's probably due for a refresh. Housekeeping serviced the room every day, though the timing varied quite a bit. Sometimes they came in the morning, other days it wasn't until after 4 p.m. They're also dog-friendly, which was a big plus for us. However...the elevators. There are only two serving the main building, and there was often a long wait. Staff use them throughout the day, guests are constantly coming and going, and one of the two elevators went out of service at least three different times during our stay, leaving the entire building relying on a single elevator. Sheesh. The frustrating part is that I'd happily take the stairs. But the hallway leading to the stairwell has a sign that says, "Employees Only Beyond This Point." It certainly gives the impression that guests aren't supposed to use them. Meanwhile, employees seemed to be riding the elevator between nearby floors. I'd love to take the stairs, but the signs suggest otherwise. Despite the stressful arrival, frustrating parking situation, and those dreadful elevators, we still had a very enjoyable week. The oceanfront balcony, complimentary breakfast, and dog-friendly accommodations made for a memorable vacation. That said, I'm not sure I'd choose this hotel again. I prefer a property with a larger, more convenient parking lot where I don't feel discouraged from taking the car out, and a hotel with enough elevators to comfortably handle the number of guests. For a week-long beach vacation, those two things ended up mattering more than I expected.

The bed is VERY comfortable and the sectional in our room which as it turns out is a pullout bed and it is also VERY comfortable, which is a surprise because usually the pull out beds in hotels are really not very good quality. There is a fridge in the room as well as a small, single serve coffee maker and a decent TV mounted on wall. I booked the hotel so that I could bring my mother to the Thunderbirds airshow, which has been on her bucket list for sometime now. Knowing it was on the sand and she's elderly I wanted to keep it as easy and enjoyable for her as I could so that's how I came here through some research via AI generated response responses to multiple questions that I had about where to go in the best place from which state of the airshow. The Hyatt Place Ocean City oceanfront, was one of the few hotels that came up as being one of the prime spots and indeed it was. It was in fact at show center. So much so that we could we hear the announcer who was actually just a little off to our left, narration and music in this phenomenal airshow. On the balcony, we had two Adirondack chairs and a table that were quite comfortable. Also good is the beach accessibility right out front of the hotel so that made it very convenient as well although we could not take advantage of that during the airshow because it was blocked off for those who had purchased tickets,- but knowing that it's there for the future is good. The not so good: The breakfast was OK nothing spectacular. I've had better eggs at other hotels and although there was a sign that said you could get mimosas or bloody Mary's from 9 to 11 no bartender ever showed up to the bar. I asked the front desk when I went we left breakfast and was told that the bar in the lounge did not open until 3 PM and if you wanted to get a drink, you went out to the pool bar. I kind of think there should be a sign that says something about that. Also when we got in last night during the show, I wanted to go grab a couple of drinks and a couple of snacks but when I went down to the lounge again, there was no bartender and when I asked, even though the website said that the lounge was open from 730 until 11 PM, I was told that there was nobody in the lounge bar and that I needed to go out to the pool in order to get food and drinks. However, out at the bar at the pool, I was told that she could not serve the drinks that they had posted in the elevator because those could only be served inside. On that note, back into the good category is the bartender out at the pool. Colleen. She was phenomenal! The drinks that she made were really good and I tried to get down later to get some more but unfortunately, I think I missed her and I think the pool bar closes at 7 PM. Nothing regarding hours at the lounge bar or at the pool bar are posted anywhere either on the website or here in the hotel. I think they would probably do a lot more business if they posted stuff on the website or told you when you checked in advising you when the bar was open both inside and at the pool. If nothing else, I would at least let the pool bartender fix the drinks that they advertise in the elevators if they're not going to open the bar until a certain time. In the category of not so good is the elevator here as well. The elevator is so ridiculously slow. I can't tell you how many times I waited numerous times to go down when it just kept going up. There are only two elevators in the hotel and it would take quite some time to try to get outside to get stuff from the car. As for the ugly: The parking here is really quite chaotic. I only saw a couple of handicap spots and I was traveling with my disabled mother. Fortunately, we were able to snag a spot right in front of the door that you go in to take the elevator up to the lobby. But otherwise the spots underneath the main hotel are minimal. There's another building adjacent to the Hyatt place that has some spots so at least there's that. On the website for the hotel you'll see what looks like a beach shop, which I was kind of excited about however, that is apparently an old picture and instead of a beach novelty shop we were met with an unpleasant lady from Franco's Bar on top of which the hotel sits swatting us away. Apparently whatever is beneath us, which actually looks like a cute little café or bistro is not operational. I'm not sure what the story is down there, but apparently it is part of Franco's pizza bar, which for the moment I am boycotting until I get over the nasty manner in which she treated us. Oh and we had a roach in our room- that wasn't great. And the TV remote didn't work right. Conclude: I always measure food and entertainment and attractions on the basis of "would I do it again". Here yes I would book at the Hyatt Pl., Ocean City oceanfront Hotel again for its convenience and very small but cozy and comfortable accommodations.

The hotel doesn't…read moreseem upscale from the curb, but upon entry to the lobby, the water displays, glass decor, and sterile color schemes give a Miami beach hotel feel. In true resort fashion, there are many amenities on site including dining, spa, leisure, indoor pool, etc. There's even a coffee shop, souvenir shop, and arcade on site. The indoor pool is perfect for non-beach goers and those simply wanting to enjoy the relaxation of indoor swimming. The pool is located at The Atrium where there is an indoor tiki bar and mini arcade. During my stay there was a live band performing in The Atrium which livened an otherwise gloomy beach day. Right outside the beachside entrance to the pool is a bar and grill. You can walk out to the beach from The Atrium. There's a beach service available to rent chair, umbrellas, and cabanas. Multiple payment options are available. The suites overlooking The Atrium offer a great view of the pool, bars, and the floor to ceiling glass giving open sight lines to the beach. The room accommodations were very good. Very clean and spacious. There is parking on site in two areas: connected to the hotel, and across from the main entrance. It can be a nightmare to find convenient parking during the summer after hours. I found myself returning to the hotel shortly after dusk every day just to get a parking spot near the hotel entrance without having to park on the top level in the garage. During my stay, the parking lot connected to the hotel seemed to also be a storage space for the hotel, making for tight spaces in some areas. Nevertheless, on site parking is always a plus. Overall, a good experience at this hotel.

Only two things I'd like to see is a restaurant on site for dinner, not just breakfast/lunch and some gathering areas around where we could play cards or something with friends. We were three families and I would have loved to have a spot maybe in atrium or outside by water where we could have had pizza together vs just in our room.

I guess it would be exhausting to greet everyone that comes and goes through the front door that your management has put you 10 feet from...awkward, but they made that choice somewhere in the floorplan. The "thousand yard" traumatized stare of the young foreign bookends working the breakfast nook was a bit odd, but they were effecient and hard working. The breakfast is standard, there were hot items (meat, scrambled eggs, potato), oatmeal, cereals, fruit, also different breads and pastries. You would have to be pretty finicky to not find something to start the day. Coffee and tea are available 24/7, and they have a little pricey mini-market. Overall the place definitely has a dorm vibe to it. I haven't lived in a dorm in 45 years, so it had no particular appeal to me, but I wasn't bothered by it. There always seemed to be music playing, it wasn't too loud or anything, it felt a bit liked forced festivity. I could do without that. The room was large and clean, very spartan in setup which I kind of like. Minimal works. I don't need drawers but for some reasone because there weren't any I felt a bit deprived. I saw a review that mentioned storage, that must be a different kind of room. The shower was very good, hand wand and traditional shower head, good water pressure and hot. The wand has "thrust" sensation. The bed was comfortable enough, but not as good as other places I have stayed (I am a bit spoiled by my Marriott properties preference). I didn't book this, it was selected by travel team at my employer. We got a govt. rate for a conference I was attending, but still $325 a night [no way its worth that], location, in-season and conference in town. Yes corporate greed and price gouging is a thing. On third floor so no particular view, I had a sense of the ocean from my room window and understood the concept of the bay on the other side of the condos I could see from the elevator lobby window. I don't think I would choose Tru on my own dime, but a nice enough stay 13-17 AUG 2024.

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and I loved the decor within the lobby. The room has plenty of storage and a desk area for your items. The bathroom is a nice size with hand soap, shampoo/conditioner and lotion are provided within the bathroom. The hotel is located right near a local bus stop, which is great when traveling to the boardwalk area. It was great to have a bus stop right at the hotel. What I didn't care for was the noises at night. It constantly sounded like someone was trying to open my room door, although I never saw anyone in the hallway and the AC was loud. It was noisy overall and hard to get a good nights sleep.
