This hotel was conveniently located next to major sites, restaurants, and the train station. Our room was located very far from the elevator and up a small flight of stairs. The stairs are a few steps away from our door and I forgot they were there and tripped down the stairs. Miraculously landed on my feet. The rooms weren't updated but had a nice Italian charm to them. They refill the complimentary mini bar everyday and it came with snacks and a variety of drinks, which we enjoyed. The rooms were also a very decent size. The beds are extremely firm and not in a good way. We looked it up and that's how Italians like it. The buffet breakfast had a good variety and was very busy. If you are lucky, you get to sit by the window with a view of the duomo. I noticed the staff ask a few people if they wanted a cappuccino or another drink that wasn't being served at the buffet but we were never asked and it was hard to flag them down. read more

Nice hotel! I am generally partial to a smaller hotel so, the "grand" part of this hotel was not lost on me. My husband and I stayed here after a wonderful trip to Rome. The front desk people were helpful when asked. The buffet breakfast was pretty standard but, we had a hard time getting a cappuccino. By the time we had found someone to ask each morning, we were pretty much done with breakfast. The room was nice but, clearly had not been maintained in a bit. Due to the time of year, the AC was not on but, opening the window got rid of the stuffiness. The bed was a bit hard compared to my liking and other places we have stayed in Italy. I did enjoy the complimentary bottle of Chianti Classico that we were able to enjoy on the roof! This hotel had great views for sure. read more

This hotel is lovely and conveniently located but the front desk staff ruins the experience. We booked our rooms months in advance. When we checked in, we provided 2 passports for 50+ year olds and 1 passport for a 23 year old. Not only did they put us miles away from each other, they gave the young single guest a MUCH bigger room. When questioned, the front desk staff said that "management" decides on rooms and there was nothing they could do. The lack of common sense and customer service ruined our stay. read more

We were pretty disappointed in this hotel. Check-in went smoothly. Nice but not overly welcoming. The lobby was gorgeous. Every time we walked by the front desk, we were barely acknowledged. They looked at us, we said buongiorno and typically got no response. The rooms are big enough but old and dark. You can barely see anything. We tried to open the windows but they are physically hard to open. There is zero soundproofing. I can hear full conversations from the people next door talking about how they slept. We could also hear the restaurant above us. No sleeping in past 6 AM when they start preparing breakfast. Breakfast is a madhouse. The tiny elevator fills up before 7 AM and people rush in. The front desk staff is rude and useless. The bar staff has a terrible attitude. The rooms are adequate at best, either incredibly hot or freezing. The A/C works sporadicly if at all. They don't help you with reservations, don't care if you get a taxi and are terrible with directions. I can't tell you about the food because I couldn't get a reservation even though I stayed for 4 nights.... They must save them for ghosts since when I went upstairs to see it, they were empty???? This is a nice, fancy hotel, but there's no air-conditioning offered at this time of year (the hotel cuts it off in this season). We burned up every day, and the only way to cool off is to open the windows. Location is right next to the train station in the middle of Florence, so there's loud City traffic sounds while the windows are open. The breakfast restaurant was also very hot. Very disappointing, considering the amount of money we paid to stay and the class of the hotel. Also, our room was right below the restaurant, so there were high heels walking above us until the night and then again starting at 6 AM, so hard to sleep. Unfortunately, my stay at Grand Hotel Baglioni was very disappointing. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable, it was like putting your head on a rock, the rooms felt dark and uninviting, and noise from both inside and outside the hotel made it difficult to rest. I also found the staff to be unhelpful and at times rude. They don't care to help you in any way. There is no room service available, and if you request anything after 6pm, the response is simply that it is not available. They don't even offer breakfast like other hotels it's an additional charge. A simple water request was an no from the staff. There is also no manager on site. Overall, this hotel did not meet expectations. Easily one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Spend your money elsewhere and don't stay here. read more

We spent about seven days at Grand Hotel Baglioni. We would stay here again. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were fantastic and the included breakfast was good. We enjoyed the view from the rooftop restaurant. It is close to the train station. It is also centrally located to most of the destinations we were interested in. read more

Classy hotel in a very convenient setting for visiting the Centro Storico. Only a block from the train station makes it simple to travel to and from Florence. Check in was simple and our bags were already waiting in our room when we came up. The room was large and had plenty of space to store your belongings. Bathroom was also large although the tub was a bit narrow. Our room with a balcony had amazing views of Santa Maria del Fiore along with a small sitting area. Breakfast was extensive with plenty of different international options. Only minus for the stay was the at times indifferent attitude from some of the staff which is not something you want at a hotel of this price and caliber. read more

This hotel is in a fantastic location. The rooftop offers a breathtaking view of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. We reserved a room for two, and it had a window facing the inner courtyard. The hotel staff were very professional. The doorman took my bags, but when I told him I could manage on my own, he gave me a look that I didn't appreciate. All I had was a small carry-on backpack, and I didn't need his help, but he seemed to be expecting a tip. The room was relatively small, but I was aware of what I was paying for. The bathroom had a vintage feel and was super clean, and they provided plenty of towels. Breakfast was included with my room, and in the evening, I enjoyed the view of the Cathedral while sipping on some excellent cocktails. Whether you're going on a holiday or a honeymoon, I highly recommend this place. Even the comments and looks from the doorman didn't spoil the experience. read more

Our stay at the Grand Hotel Baglioni was ... dare I say ... grand. Yes, grand and convenient. Located in a palace built in Firenze for Prince Carrega-Bertolini di Lucedio in the 1880s, this luxury hotel has been blending cosmopolitan and bourgeois vibes since 1903. More than 100 years later, it is much like the host capital city of Tuscany: a cultural, artistic, and architectural Florentine gem. Our ridiculously large room had a perfect view from recessed lead-glass windows (that open!) to the Piazza dell'Unità Italiana with its iconic Obelisk of the Fallen in the Wars of Independence. Gazing further, we could see the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella across the street as well as the large main Florence train station (Santa Maria Novella) just one block away. Inside, the room with king-size bed oozed tradition thanks to antique wooden furniture, heavy wrought iron furnishings, smooth hardwood floors, and impressive coffered wood ceilings. Near the room entrance was a small side room with old-school wooden desk. The spacious bathroom washed in white ceramics was splendid like everything else. Free water and soda was provided in the refrigerator. High-speed internet worked as expected. A remarkable buffet breakfast was included. I'm glad because it was notable for not just outstanding quality and service, but stunning roof top views of Florence. The B Roof restaurant on the 5th floor offers indoor and outdoor patio views of the entire city ... which leads to some fantastic photos. The breakfast with champagne, several fresh juices, meats, cheese, pastries, fruits, eggs, and more was as yummy as I've had. I don't normally eat breakfast, but eagerly did at the Grand Hotel Baglioni buffet while going back for seconds AND thirds. In addition to the hotel's convenience, resplendent rooms, and stunning views, the final reason Grand Hotel Baglioni in Florence is a five full stars was sterling hospitality blended with the elegance and sophistication. At every turn, we were treated with grace and real service including an early check-in, late-night assistance, and baggage. Every single person that helped us did so with genuineness and a smile. We came to the rooftop bar on a Sunday at noon. There were only a few other patrons and we had our choice of seating at the inside bar (with panoramic windows and air conditioning) or the terrace (with spectacular views and lovely ambiance.) We are so disappointed in our stay at the Grand Baglioni. Could not sleep last night because the temperature in our room was our 90 Fahrenheit. Told the front desk in the morning and he said "he fixed it." Got to our room tonight and it was HOTTER! Lady at front desk said we could move to another room, but no rooms get below 20 celsius/68 Fahrenheit...even though the thermostat shows 18 c. Nothing done. Also, we were told to get our car this morning from the valet would take 20 minutes. It took more than 45 minutes. Service is awful. So disappointed. read more

No iron in the rooms (that's an extra cost). Laundry service is crazy expensive. But there is a laundromat literally out front and to the right that is great! My experience was the front desk staff wasn't too friendly. The walls in the rooms are thin and we could hear everything (everything...). Poor water pressure and the shower stem is way too short. I was literally leaning against the wall the water could "shower" over my head. This was probably one of the worst shower experiences I've had at a hotel and it could easily be fixed if their pipe/stem extended outward another 8". That's a cheap fix. It was nice in appearance and located super close to the train station which was nice upon arrival/departure. The view from the rooftop restaurant was pretty amazing. If you walked down the halls where the stairs are you'll see some very disturbing pictures in frames of naked babies. It was weird. Really weird. I don't believe I'd stay here again. read more

I really enjoyed staying here. The hotel was very neat with its old world charm. The roof top restaurant and patio is very neat with great views. The breakfast here is just fantastic as well. Lots of gluten free options. The room was a bit small and cramped but we were hardly in it. The best part was the Handy phone. The cell phone you can use to browse the internet, take it with you to explore the city, make local and international calls all for free. We were looking forward to staying at Grand Hotel Baglioni for our 25th wedding anniversary but sadly my husband got sick with COVID. We cancelled 48 hours before our stay and then my son got sick 1.5 days later with COVID. The reservations team at the hotel were unsympathetic and rude. Wonderful hotel. Center of town, very close to the train station and boasts a great rooftop (which we did not visit). Each room comes with a Handy phone for you to borrow (free internet / iPhone rental). It was an easy walk to all the major sites - David, Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. Lots of places to shop, eat and drink without having to feel like you need to walk too far. Our windows opened up into a small courtyard, which was actually very annoying because the noise from the roof echoed into the courtyard and it was kind of annoying trying to fall asleep to that noise. The zucchini flowers were wow filled with fish and than the lovely light linguini. My guy had the pigeon and he loved it with a cherry sauce. Love our room, very comfortable and the bed is extra king size, we can't even find each other in bed... Also to turn off the air conditioner you must call the front desk and they can do it there! The staff is great, friendly and personable and very helpful. Excited to check out the new Modern museum this afternoon. Gianni the maitre d was truly lovely and made our stay special here... I stayed here for 3 days with my mother in August of this year during our 2-week Italian vacation. After the small hotel rooms we had in Venice and Verona - this place seemed like a sultan's palace. The lobby is like old world grand - with piano rooms and revolving glass doors in the entry - there are stairs leading up to old hallways decorated with ornate antique mirrors and the old wooden elevators were very different - our room was large with antique wood finishes, two twin beds, high ceilings, and a view of the train station and church from the double-paned windows. It was beautiful. We loved it. The bathroom looked like it had been redone - but tastefully enough to look like it belonged in an older hotel - it was classic but still high quality and had a large soaker tub and was a pretty large bathroom. This is obviously a very old hotel but it has class and charm and seems to have been well-maintained for the most part. Staff were very friendly and polite - allowing us to borrow a large umbrella for a day bus trip when it started raining before we had to walk across the street to the train station to meet our tour group. Our room included breakfast in the restaurant located on the top floor and the breakfast was very respectable. It included assorted fruits, cereals, yogurt and hot items such as eggs, bacon, cheeses, etc. I was pleased with this breakfast and my mom and I appreciated that we didn't have to eat again until late lunch. The hotel is located very close to the famous Duomo and has several shops and restaurants literally right outside the hotel's front door. It's location directly across the street from the train/bus station made it especially convenient for my mother and I who traveled there by fast train, departed for Rome by fast train, and took two bus tours from the location while there. So we were very happy with our time at this hotel. I don't have any complaints about our time here at all... we had free wi-fi included with our stay and had access to the hotel's various amenities. All in all - I would stay in this beautiful old hotel any time I am in Florence. read more

For sure, this old Lady has seen better times, but also for sure a Grand Hotel from 1903 to maintain is not easy. I was attending a company event and booked a room for two nights here. I got one of three rooms on the northern roof terrace. First I thought this was the worst room you could imagine but it turned out the room was utmost quiet and had premium Access to the Restaurant, which is a definitely good quality. Prices are high but you pay for the good quality AND an incredible view on the Dome of Florence. I would book here again even that my shower was not really warm. It is our first trip to Europe and our stay in Florence at this hotel was amazing. All the staff from the front desk, bellman, restaurant and bar employees as well as the manager all truly made us feel welcome and were accommodating to our needs. The assortment offered at the buffet breakfast made for a tasty-filling start of our day. The options for coffee, cappuccino or other morning beverages were too much to choose from. This hotel was booked through Costco on one of their 3 City Italian packages. It's an old hotel that's partially refurbished. The rooms we were given had been updated but still maintained their old world charm. The hallways are dark as is the lobby. Some areas of the carpeting on our floor were worn and threadbare. The hotel is on an amazing location, within an easy walk to all of the main attractions and the train station. Lots of shops and restaurants are right around the hotel. Our main complaints have to do with the rooms. First the windows are very old and have multiple "layers" of shutters. The last one is a more or less sound proof latched window. Unfortunately when you close that window there is no circulating air. We came mid-April and really needed air conditioning especially when we closed the window at night to keep out the constant and often loud road noise. No AC was available during this time of year so if we wanted fresh air we needed ear plugs. Also, and probably the biggest problem are the rock hard beds. I've only encountered beds like this in third world countries, not in luxury European hotels. Literally our hips and backs killed after sleeping on the beds. We requested a plush topper which we never received. The reception staff appeared very preoccupied and were not very receptive to requests. The restaurant is beautiful, staff lovely and food very good. read more

My wife and I had wonderful experience here for dinner on our last evening in Florence. Our friends had booked a table and our party of four were accommodated for very generously by the staff on short notice. We received a table by the window overlooking the Duomo even though we had not made the booking until 6pm and arrived 2 hours later at 8pm. Three of us ordered steak which was cooked perfectly, delivered on the bone and sliced for us at the table. Our fourth member ordered a mushroom risotto which was also delicious. Half way through our meal the waiter arrived with a large plate of filet steak which he gave to free of charge as the kitchen thought that the steak we had been served was on the small side for three people. We had a difficult time finishing everything but our perseverance eventually paid off and there was not a morsel of food left on anybody's plate by the end of the meal. Since it was my wife's birthday, she received a free complimentary dessert complete with candle. Service was very friendly and staff were a delight to interact with. Our meal for four, a bottle of wine and coffees for everyone came to a modest total and we were very happy with everything - the food, the service and of course the view! Even if like us, you had not considered booking a room here, it's well worth a visit for lunch or dinner for the view alone! If the weather is nice, ask for a table of the terrace. Stayed here for four nights recently. This is a nice hotel, but don't get too excited..... it has its warts as well. Our first room was very ugly and the bed was about 20 years old. My back killed the next day, so we switched rooms. The second room was great, but the WiFi didn't work and the shower ran hot and cold all the time. The location - 3 min walk to the train station - and the rooftop deck make this hotel worth the price. The view from the rooftop terrace (and the breakfast restaurant as well) are unforgettable! I was in Florence for a Culinary study abroad program, so I had an apartment. I didn't stay at the hotel but ate at their roof top restaurant. Not only is the food amazing, the service is fantastic and the view just tops the cake. All around amazing!! My suggestion, make a reservation for before the sun sets so you can enjoy both a little daylight, sun setting around Florence, then the evening when all the buildings light up. Four stars out of 5 for the Baglioni. First the good. Location is great, very clean, nice big room and AC worked great. Rooftop is phenomenal we enjoyed going up there. Mini bar in room is free, no alcohol in there but soft drinks and water all free which is rare and a great treat. The bad: the shower is so small it's very hard to wash. I'm not a husky gentleman thank god, I don't think someone of a more larger build will do well in this shower at all. And sometimes at night it was two nights out of 5 we were there , there was a very strong odor in the hallway of what smelled like nail polish remover. I'm not sure if it was a wood cleaner or floor cleaner of sorts they were using that week but my goodness it was too much. I had to put a towel under the crevice of the door to try to keep the odor out of our room, that didn't work so well. I actually thought I was going to wake up the next morning either high from the fumes or with a terrible headache. Thankfully that wasn't the case. Besides these two issues I really enjoyed the hotel. Florence is such an amazing city I will definitely stay at the baglioni upon my return read more

When we arrived we noticed grimy mold and mildew on the shower head. We called house cleaning and they came up and cleaned it. It is impossible to get around in your room without hearing loud squeaking from the floor. I would not stay here again. It's just not worth the price. read more
