This is for ristorante Mistral. When we arrived at the restaurant I was notified that I did not meet the dress code, which requires than men wear pants and not shorts. I told them that the website did not mention this and the host/manager told me I was wrong. I asked about switching the reservation to another night then the cancellation fee was brought up, but in my opinion it's not really a cancellation if you're forcing me to cancel due to lack of communication from the restaurant. The website does not mention the dress code, nor does the booking site The Fork. This restaurant is in a touristy area with guests from various cultures and they need to be transparent about any requirements in order to dine there. The US has restaurants with three Michelin stars that allow casual wear, which they communicate clearly. Also it's zero help to put the dress code in the menu at the table. The diners are already there. Pictures of the website are attached. Thankfully, they sat us outside and we had a pleasant experience with delicious dishes and excellent service, except for the one server that eyed my bare knees during our walk of shame to be seated.

    The View!

Wow! The view is absolutely spectacular. The service is so amazing. They treat you like a queen. A glass of wine is €12 but that equates to about US in a city and with the wine you will have a big dish of smoked salted almonds a big dish of amazing amazing olives, a bigger dish of chips. It's quiet and peaceful up here it is October it's still summer weather. I'm wearing a strapless dress. They say the seasons are shifting later. Perfect time for Italy! I also have the salad Nicole absolutely tremendous, fresh, and the best tuna fillet. Amazing! I broke up for my group, so they're all or no loud Americans and I'm spending my entire time looking at the view which I can't get over. This hotel is at the end of the 1 Main St. in Bellagio and you may be thank you can't get in but you just asked the guard and they open the door and they let you up to the side because it is a hotel and at first I thought only hotel guests could go but absolutely not you must go.!

Great grand hotel, best in Bellagio. While there are other luxury hotels, they are all in towns that are a bit out of the way. If this is your first trip to the Lake Como area, Bellagio is probably the best starting point to explore surrounding towns and villas. You are within walking distance to a large number of restaurants. This hotel has great amenities and best location, very picturesque and has a amazingly maintained park, most tourists will not see it as you need to traverse the hotel to get to it. Highly recommend.

Have you ever wondered what it must be like to stay at George Clooney's villa on Lake Como? Maybe? No? Regardless, this is about as close as you are going to get. Villa Serbelloni is one of the oldest hotels in Lake Como. It sits on the edge of Bellagio, the picturesque town with stone streets, little shops and mind blowing views. Getting here can be a bit of an ordeal. It's best to fly into Milan and drive north towards Como. It's about an hour and a half drive. As soon as you hit the lake, you will be so astonished by the natural beauty that surrounds you, you won't even notice the drive. The hotel is an old European hotel in every way. Funky old bathrooms. Twin beds pushed together to form a king. Dark hallways, and ceilings. The wifi works a little some days and not at all on others. You are probably wondering, why would you opt for that? But it really feels like you are in a villa on Lake Como. This place embodies the history of this impressive lake. Sit and sip on cocktails nightly on their outdoor patio that overlooks the lake. Enjoy live music and relish in each moment. Buffet breakfast was not only one of the largest spreads I saw on our trip, complete with meats, pastries, fruits, eggs and more and it was served in an elegant room, fit for a princess. It felt like a room straight out of Versailles. Etro, the famous designer from Milan, has outfitted the bathroom with their designer toiletries. I definitely took these home as souvenirs. This is one of the places where it's worth every penny to splurge for the lake view room. Just do it. It's expensive, but as you sit staring out your balcony, admiring one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see, you'll thank yourself. Dinner at the formal Mistral michelin-starred restaurant was lovely. The service was superb. The live jazz band soothing, the views magnificent and the food to match. I've been thinking about the spaghetti for weeks. Also order the nitrogen ice cream for a table side presentation you are sure not to forget. When your time at Serbelloni is over, you'll feel like you really understand why George spends so much time in this magical place.

It is so beautiful here. Every inch of the property is elegant and special. JFK stayed here along with FDR, Winston Churchill, Douglas Fairbanks, and Al Pacino. We had dinner at the 1-star Michelin Ristorante Mistral and it was fabulous. Certainly worth 3 stars in my book. The food and service was unsurpassed. The live music and ambiance made celebrating my birthday here the right choice! The violinist serenaded me with the Happy Birthday sing while a beautiful cake was delivered. A sweet moment to last a lifetime.

Amazing hotel. I can't say enough about the decor, service and the views. This place is VERY expensive but I say worth it. My ONLY gripe is the wifi. They do have it but EVERY TIME you leave the hotel and return you must do the log in again. Ok, small complaint but this is 2015 and everyone is looking for wifi especially while traveling.

This might be the most beautiful place my eyes have ever seen.

The staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating and our room was great (remodeled bathroom!). The rest of the property, however looked worn out and outdated. The grounds are beautiful and there is a private free self parking. There's an upstairs restaurant for breakfast with amazing view of the lake, as well as a restaurant downstairs for dinner. Personally, this was not my favorite stay in the Como area.

We had already unpacked (and were only staying for two nights) so we didn't bother asking to be moved. The carpet all around the hotel seemed old, worn, and dirty. We had a stained chair, saw a hairpin on the floor, paint peeling in the bathroom, and filthy light switches (see pics). Cobwebs in a corner of the lobby. Nearly useless wifi. Can confirm the router is in the lobby. No body lotion (although that seemed a common theme at least in the places we stayed at in Italy & Great Britain). We had sooo many toiletries and towels in the bathroom it gave the impression that they either didn't want to bother servicing the room or felt like it would be convenient for us. But it made it seem like convenience store inventory. Agree on the mosquitos down by the sitting areas around the pool. If you stay away from the bushes, it's fine. We enjoyed the pool. And the breakfast. I mean it was fair, but a nice change from just having croissants day after day. Hey, it was complimentary. We had a better experience with staff including the bar tending staff. They were very accommodating and pleasant. Overall, the hotel did not meet our expectations. The view and location were nice, but will definitely NOT be returning.

They also ask you to leave your key at the front desk (yes an actual key, no card here) each time you leave; but they won't yell at you if you forget, like I did :) -Friendly Family Staff; so pleasant, accommodating and hard working -Magnificent Room; stayed in the Red Room Suite, highly recommended. No balcony but four large windows (2 with full view of Lake; other 2 partial views) -Outdoor Terrace; very nice place to have breakfast or a Aperol Spritz -Delicious fruit filled croissants and various coffee options (espresso, latte, etc) -Free wifi (although a bit spotty in our room; but worked great in lobby and outside terrace) -Short walk (on some cobblestone and tight sidewalks) from Tremezzo port. Exit boat ramp and turn LEFT. Also, very short walk to other restaurants and a beautiful park on the lake. -Last but not least, excellent VALUE for such a great property with amazing views Ways Rating Could Have Improved: -Although croissants & coffe were delicious; the overall breakfast spread was so-so. There are no hot entrees so be prepared if you come looking for that. Mainly European spread, meats, cheeses, boiled eggs and fruits. -Hotel has beautiful balcony located on top of hotel. It is accessible via the steps but there is really nothing there. Some chairs or a table would make that a beautiful place to enjoy a glass of wine. -Boosting WiFi signal for the Red Room Suite. But not a big deal, vacation should be a time to unplug anyway -Just a suggestion here, but a shuttle service from the port would be a nice touch; as the walk with suitcases is a bit challenging. One particular example of their commitment to guests took place on a not exactly pool weather day. I had decided to take advantage of some sun by the pool as did another couple and I noticed the owner quickly, placing cushions on all the chairs making it look more inviting. Nice touch. Now this may happen at other hotels but it was really something to see the owner himself carrying out the task. Overall, VERY pleasant stay. It was so nice to take a break away from our normal habit of staying in the chain hotels (SPGs mainly) and stay somewhere where the owners have full investment in the property. They have worked very hard and are proud to have taken this property to its current 3-Star rating. I can see more stars in their future. Tremezzo, is a great central location on Lake Como and I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Villa Marie if you are choosing this town.

English review (Io non parlo Italiano)…read more We stayed at La Perla for the first leg of our honeymoon - the staff are extremely friendly, the lake view is fantastic and the rooms were decent, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is the usual continental fare, but the view from the balcony makes up for the lack of options :) Warning: walking, lots of walking! The walk to Tremezzo proper is quite a challenge both uphill and downhill (especially back up!). The shuttle only runs a couple of times a day in the morning and in the evening, so walking is the only option most of the time if you want to have a drink, or if you don't have a car. It's about 15 minutes downhill and at least 20 minutes uphill. Food in the hotel is what is referred to as a "snack bar" in Italy and is very basic pasta/panini - nothing very inspiring here, so unless you are taking it very easy you will want to go down to the town to eat. There is a pizzeria a little closer (less than halfway) - Pizzeria Balognett - and the pizza there is excellent, the best I had on our trip to be honest. In Tremezzo the one restaurant that sticks out in my mind is La Darsenna, though the little wine bar (Cantina Follie) was also very pleasant for an after dinner drink on their terrace - the Amarone is worth the extra couple of euro per glass :) Overall, I would recommend La Perla if you are looking for some good views, peace and quiet, and don't mind the walking. Be sure and have a car to get to and from there as well as giving you the extra freedom for trips elsewhere. Also, be sure to pop up to Menaggio and rent a boat (under 40 HP = no license required) - it's expensive but really worth a go for a couple of hours to see the lake properly.
