Just to be clear, the speed and price of the food are the big positives, but it comes at the cost of quality. On my first visit, I ordered their Kongu mutton biryani and paneer tikka masala. The biryani was really dull and not very well conceived. The mutton itself was on the dry end and the spices did not pop like you'd expect in a fresh biryani. I'd say the color of the biryani itself is very telling. The paneer tikka masala was decent, but the paneer itself was really dense and chewy. I could at least enjoy the curry some, but would have liked a little more spice in that too. I came back and ordered their chicken curry. To be clear, it was labeled as "chicken curry", not a butter chicken, a korma or a vindaloo, just a curry. The flavors were Indian in nature, but not very harmonious like a well thought out curry. It was also very watery, and the chicken was dry and more bone than meat. The prices here are probably the biggest pull factor for Sangam Mart, they are the cheapest Indian spot in the area by a good bit! With such short lunch breaks and the desire to not burn through your wallet, Sangam Mart has its place. However, with so many other fantastic Indian restaurants in the area, it is hard for me to justify choosing Sangam Mart over the competition.

That made me recollect that about a year ago I found plain lachchi (yogurt drink) outdated by about a month. At that time, I noted the expiration date after the rotten taste in trying to drink it. Glad I recently discovered "Spice Bazaar" nearby. Plan to not only more carefully check for expiration dates, but also minimize groceries from South Asian stores.

They also not only did not have a sign asking patrons to wear masks (as is currently the law) but the employee working was not wearing a mask either. He did not even attempt to correct it. He went into the back a couple times while I was shopping and, at no time did he return with a mask on. Lastly, one of the things I love about Spice Bazaar is that, the instant you walk in, you are hit with the wonderful smell of all these spices. Little Indian just kind of smells musty, leading me to believe the spices are older or not as fresh. I'll go back in if I absolutely need to, but plan on being more organized with my grocery shopping so I don't have to.

Mang's Asian Supermarket provides Southeast Asian items that I'm used to. It's like a local and classic mom and pop's Asian grocery store that I'm used to back home. The store is super clean and provides you with your basic Asian groceries such as noodles, drinks, condiments, and seafood. I spoke to the owner (great and friendly guy) and he pretty much started out fresh a year ago, right before the pandemic. He's still trying to fill up in the store with more items. Please continue to support this young entrepreneur.
