I've seen several concerts here, and I love it! The house PA sounds fantastic, has plenty of very punch lows, and most bands have sounded really good. Good local venue for shows. It's small inside so you'll get very cozy with the people around you lol. There are two bars inside and a back patio. I've been here a handful of times since moving to Nashville and have enjoyed the shows. Sounds is good here too but drinks are pretty overpriced unfortunately. read more

Absolutely fantastic concert-going experience last night to see Kim Churchill and Sons of the East, two acts out of Australia that are incredible, in such an intimate venue!! The staff of The Basement East were gracious, enthusiastic and very friendly. Everyone from Security, Tickets, Merch Table, Bartender, and the lady staffing the "Smoking Porch" were all great!! I wish there was just a regular porch and not a smoking porch, but thankfully no one was smoking when I stepped out to get fresh air. Sound was amazing. Lights super cool. Bathrooms were clean. I went to see Proxima Parada for my first show at Basement East and I was not disappointed! The venue is small but comfortable. Entry was super easy, even though our tickets were left at will call. The staff at the box office and the bar were really great. I was impressed by the Paloma I ordered as well. They have coolers with water cups around so that you don't have to wait in line. The show was intimate and the stage had a really great set up. Such a great place to catch a show! read more

What a cool spot to catch a show! We picked up tickets to see Smallpools (along with a few other bands, including local gem Moody Joody!) on a Sunday evening and had an awesome time. Parking was easy, although it's worth it to show up early to snag a free spot. We ended up spending $25 to park right across the street from the venue, which is a little steep, but not awful for several hours in Nashville. Inside the Basement East is intimate and divey - with a robust bar set-up. Our bartender was fast and friendly, which goes a long way in a setting like this. The drinks were reasonably priced, especially for a Nashville music venue. They also sell assorted CBD and Delta-8 products, along with a few varieties of cigarettes. You can't smoke inside the venue, but there is a designated smoking patio for anyone who needs it. The music was incredible - the sound was great, and the lights really added to the show. Set changes in between bands were fairly quick, while still allowing time to use the restroom or grab another drink. If you're a local who hasn't been to a show at Basement East yet, add it to the top of your list! We'll absolutely be back for another show soon. read more

I really dig this spot for checking out shows! The inside is no frills, just a standing area with low ceilings, a stage, a bar, and a march table. The shows I've been to have all been pretty small, but they have a back area and a second bar they must open when there's a bigger show. One of the shows even had tables and chairs out in the back half of the space. We've seen some really great names come through here at a reasonable price!! I love that they have a food truck outside so you can bring in food and at the bar they have regular alcoholic beverages, but also offer kombucha and cbd/thc drinks. They have Liquid Death water, but they also seem to always have free cups of water available, too. Definitely dive-y, but the sound is great! The last time I went to a show the floors were so sticky that it pulled my shoe off. Not exaggerating; everyone there commented and it wasn't just like someone mopped with spilled beer, it was baffling. So...wear laced shoes just in case! read more

Came on a Friday evening, there's free street parking if you can manage to snag that somewhere around the neighborhood, otherwise there's paid parking right next to the venue. Bought tickets at the door for $25 (there's almost $8 fees for buying online!). Venue is small and cozy, standing only. Stage has lights, audience can get pretty much up to the stage, one of the singers came to the floor to interact with the audience which was pretty cool. Listened to Mills, Calico, Paul McDonald, and BabyJake. Second and fourth musicians weren't my style, too loud and flashy and the sound was just not pleasant, walked out of those two. I went to my first concert at The Basement East and I was pleasantly surprised. I expected drinks to be way more expensive and I expected to be told I couldn't leave and come back. However, drinks were reasonably priced, we could come and go as we pleased and most importantly - parking was so easy. We showed up early to get a good parking spot and it was worth it. read more

Loved the intimate feeling of this venue however it's more wide than deep when It comes to the stage in relation to the bar. Would recommend getting there early to be closer to the stage to avoid being in the back next to the bar. In a more relaxed part of Nashville with some good places to drink and eat. read more

Tonight was my very first time going to see music at The Basement East!!! I don't know why it has taken me so long to check out a band here...I was the lucky winner of 2 free tickets to see Austin Meade (opening act) & the Read Southall Band - THANK YOU @NowPlayingNashville The music was great and the venue is simple and easy to navigate. I highly recommended coming early to grab a seat at the high bar tables... (most of the venue is standing room only). There is a free parking lot and nearby street parking. I'm not sure If everyone was at LOTG but it wasn't that busy tonight. I'm not sure how the venue picks the lineup but I thought both bands were really good! Austin is from Texas - favorite song was Savannah! Read Southall is from Oklahoma and describes themselves as Southern Rock & Crunchy Country . My favorite song was "Why?" - Loved belting out the lyrics! The drinks were great and the bartender was really nice. read more

I liked this venue a lot. We Ubered but parking looked spacious and relatively easy. The smoking patio was nice and large. Drink prices were reasonable for a venue like this. Security was pleasant and not overbearing. Was allowed to bring in my purse. Good location as there's other bars around you can go to after the show. read more

SOUND: Oh goodness, the ALT Aaron Lee Tasjan band and the rest of the FOUR TWENTY line up sounded amazing!! It didn't seem to matter where I stood, out in the crowd it was so so good. It was so loud and people were also talking so loud. HEAT VS AC: It was maybe in the 60s during the day and felt cool in the room and then it filled up and man it was SO HOT! Everyone started moving towards the door to catch the cool breeze every time the door opened! PARKING: Unfortunately if you arrive any later than at least one hour before doors open it's hard to find a FREE parking spot (and nearby). I recommend arriving around 7pm if doors are 8pm, and walk down to 5 points for pizza or burgers then walk back for the show. Typically the band goes on at 9pm, so it's perfect timing. DRINKS: Sadly I did not end up getting a drink to comment on the pricing or taste. FOOD: Wait! I saw someone posted about food!! I didn't know that they had food!!?!?! I love bar ish food! I'm so bummed I didn't find out until reading some other reviews on here. read more

I attended the John Early show on Saturday October 19. I recently have been undergoing cancer treatment, so it was the first show I've been to in a while. About 20 minutes into the show I began to feel dizzy. I made my way outside to get some air. That's the last thing I remember before someone was helping me. I'm was totally embarrassed and I'm sorry I didn't get the persons name. I just wanted to say thank you for getting me some water and a stool. I really appreciate the kindness. I thought I'd caught a show here before until I arrived the other night (turns out I was thinking of the East Room). So, I'd wondered how 5 full bands would pull off a set in a basement setting (which is what the above mentioned venue really is and that's not a knock either, seen some cool music there) only to realize this is a full size (for up to 400 anyway) modern music venue. Great affordable beers and shots, clean bathrooms, great sound system. Cool security (thanks for letting me put my merch in my car so I could thorougly enjoy the pit), good (and fast) bartenders. And...venue owners who know how you are supposed to behave at a metal show. Thanks for letting us rip the pit the way the show intends. read more

I purchased a general admission ticket to a sold out show and it was the perfect amount of people without being too crowded. There are two bars that serve good, reasonably priced drinks. Great establishment and did a great job with the Geddy Lee book signing and Q&A. Huge crowd, lots of us crazy Rush fans lined up early for a chance to be up close and personal with the Big Beautiful Book of Bass author Geddy and get a signed copy. The staff is awesome with crowd management - getting everyone in quickly, managing the crowd inside and organizing a great event. I'm sure it's just a good on a music night, but here on a Sunday evening for a author's Q&A and signing, they did a great job and made everyone feel welcomed and comfortable! The wife were walking in the hood with the pups when we saw the chalkboard sign stating that brunch was being served and pups are welcome so it only made good logic to go in and try. We sat on the deck on a overcast day and enjoyed a couple of nice mid mid morning libations. The service was East Nashville good and the drinks were Ok. We did not get any food only because we had just eaten at Edley's before happening on to this spot. It was a great atmosphere and we enjoyed our time sitting on the deck and enjoying the people watching. The food from afar looked good and we would certainly return. read more

It was so crowded for the Old Dominion show we didn't even get in the door! Would of loved to see it! The building looks a little worn on the outside, i had seen other postings to "watch out it's not in a good area". I don't see any eve since of that other than an old liquor store down at the bottom of the hill abt a half block away. Its like an other city area that I think is experiencing revitalization. You have to watch yourself and lock your car every place now a days! read more

Everyone I know loves the "Beast". Excellent venue with a wonderful diverse set of shows that are always fun to see. The staff is top notch - they keep a well organized place night after night. It can get hot, but the music keeps you wanting to stay for more. Sadly, the 3/3 tornado destroyed our beloved building, but thanks to the staff everyone survived. They are rebuilding and when COVID19 is nothing but a bad memory I'll be back often. read more

My daughter and I went to Nashville for the weekend and stayed in East Nashville. Looking for something to do after dinner, we walked up to The Basement East and wound up having an absolutely unbelievable time. Americanafest was happening so we enjoyed hours of a 1969 themed show. It seemed every performer was better than the last. The hosts were engaging and kept things moving through the four seasons as the emcee termed the show's parts. Norman Greenbaum performed Spirit in the Sky! On the drive back to Milwaukee we listened to music from as many of the performers as we could find. The Basement East was the perfect place to begin our country music weekend getaway. We had so much fun that the next morning I found my drink cup with the lime still in it . The Basement East is a great concern venue and it's definitely a location to visit if your wanting to be up close to some of the best up and coming artist. This was my first visit to the location and I will definitely be back in the future. One of my favorite pets about the location is starting at 6pm you can park across the street in the fireman's credit union lot for FREE but if you get there late a pay lot it available next to the location with several lights so it's safe. Upon entering the door they scan your ticket and provide you with a wrist band, and once you get into the venue they have a large bar with three serving stations making service relatively quick; beers were priced at $6 per 16oz which isn't terrible and to the right of the bar is the stage with a couple seats which are elevated to the right of the stage. The ppl at the venue seemed nice and it's definitely a place to visit for a great time while in the Nashville area. read more

I am a huge fan of this venue. It's in that sweet spot of being the perfect size; not too big and not too small. I came here for the first time on Friday night for a sold out show, but never felt annoyed with the audience. It was very crowded but not so bad that I couldn't go to the bathroom or wait a long time for a drink. I appreciate that! You can always find a good spot along the sides, and we were even able to get close to the front later on in the show without issue. I love that! Drink prices are reasonable and the bathrooms are very clean and new, which is a nice change from some other venues in Nashville. I really enjoy the Basement East and can't wait to check out another show here! read more

If you are in Nashville, but not trying to get all in the country scene, check out The Basement East. New Found Glory was wrapping up their 20 year tour and the venue was awesome!! Drink prices weren't inflated -- low end at $2 up to maybe $5-6 which is great because you can stroll over to the food register and grab a a sandwich or guac n chips. Venue had a decent sound system that let you hear yourself instead of having to constantly scream. I didn't have a chance to check out the pub, but I will if I'm back in the area. Overall, it's a decent venue to see bands and other acts at prices you won't get in an arena/ballroom setting. read more

One of the funnest dance bars in East Nashville. If you are looking to go out dancing in Nashville, and not head to Broadway, then Basement East is a great option for you. The drinks are pretty cheap, the dance floor is huge, and you always get s fun and young crowd. Ended up here on a recommendation from our lyft driver. I really liked it. The crowd is definitely hipster and younger than I am. And at first that bothered me, but as it started filling up, more people like me arrived. We saw four bands for an incredibly low price. I cannot believe how inexpensive live entertainment is here. The only drawback to me was that there weren't many places to sit. None of the acts we saw were country. Which was a good thing for me. I have to update my review as the menus here has changed. As it says below (I left my original review which was a 5 star review from me) this place had a small but fantastic late night menus of quality wraps and sandwiches! It was a gem in a sea of Nashville southern blah of mediocre BBQ and greasy bar food. Unfortunately, this has changed and they have succumbed to the typical Nashville late night menus... Bratwurst or Italian sausage sandwiches, grilled cheese and quesadillas. I hope that they improve this unfortunate change, although I don't have high hopes. The beer still rotates out but I've been noticing less and less interesting brews and more typical run of the mill stuff. Original post: This place is quickly becoming my new hang. Small but very solid menus. Try anything with the habanero sauce. The portobello press is awesome! Good rotating beer selection as well. Parking across the street in the fire house lot or down the street near the atm if the lot is full for a show. Also the venue, if you are considering going sounds good and is quite large.
