They are incredibly inconsistent. For two years they show up between 11am and 6 pm and then they show up at 7am and you miss pick up. Customer service wait times are long, they tell you reach out over email for urgent matters and they never respond and then they lie in the follow up. Their team throws your trash bins recklessly knocking the wheels off. Have it on video too. I would never contract with them by choice. read more

As of today, I've canceled my service. I'm switching to the other garbage pickup company--the one with the pink-covered bins. If I could leave a negative rating, I would. The customer service is horrendous and completely incompetent. Nearly everyone I interacted with was rude, which says it all. Even after I called to report that they didn't collect my trash, they're still trying to charge me. I've used Grand Sanitation since 2016 and they've been really good. There have been a couple missed pick ups over the years, but overall no complaints. I contracted then to remove a couch and and that went smoothly. There have been some reasonable price increases but I think value is still good. read more

I have backyard service and I had one occasion where the driver and a regular collection garbage day list. I forgot my pick up I called the office I was explaining to the very polite lady that answered the phone and asked if they had missed me or change the date, I told him I only had one little garbage bag in a can that they did not have they come back to pick up. I will hold it until the next regular pick up. She said she would contact the driver and if it was in the area he would stop by and pick up just this one little bag of garbage, I'm a senior citizen living alone and I don't have much garbage but this particular day the driver came back and picked up this one little bag of garbage so I receive good service. We had bad experience when we tried their yard waste collection service. Their driver simply ignored the bags that we put out on curb with decals. This happened repeatedly. Finally we called in to complain (twice), both times we were assured that driver will come back but nothing happens. I then sent out email complaining but again nothing happened. One time my wife confronted the driver as he was leaving, he was rude and took only 2 out of permitted 5 bags. Now i am going to explore options to escalate this complaint and in parallel find alternative service. Their basic service is ok but once in a while you need that extra service and thats when you will realize that you are on your own and how bad they are! Reply to the response: Sir, Its further pains me to see that I have gotten just a generic response. It shows that my complaint is not taken seriously and it seems, even my review was not read closely. As i said 1. my wife confronted the driver but he didnt take the yard waste. 2. The Scotch Plains township recently changed companies for recycling. What used to be weekly is now bi-weekly - by zones. I'm on the South side, Zone 1, so they were supposed to pick-up last Monday (5/7). They did not pick up mine nor my next door neighbor's. I called the township AND Grand. The lady I spoke to said they will come today (5/15) even if it's off-schedule. I heard a truck outside so I looked out the window to see if it was Grand. It was Grand alright, but they were idling across the street NOT picking it up. Instead, two of their men took turns using the Porta John I have in my driveway for the construction crew working on my house renovation. I called Grand again just now but of course customer service has no explanation and just said they would forward the concern to the supervisor. Worst company ever. Update: Since I cannot reply to Richard's comment I will type it here: Yes I know the township hired you to do bi-weekly, which is why I was expecting it to be picked up last week. But you did not pick up my recycling nor my next door neighbor's on the designated day (yes, we both had it out and ready the night before), so I called and whoever I spoke to at your office said you would come for it today. The price is good, but I canceled my service as they just can not figure out how to close the trash cans. Its really ridiculous, especially if its raining. Also on multiple occasions they have left the can in the middle of the driveway. I had to call twice and each time I was promised that they would close it but never followed through. read more

I am from scotch Plains, I had this company for about three years, every so often they don't pickup my garbage or my neighbors garbage in that fact . Very so often they leave my garbage pail in the middle of the street, also employees never wear mask when they come in contact with customers, Owner named Richard Golinello , employees damaged my truck and my wife's car after repeated complaint to owner to never pull over to my drive way . owner abusive unresponsive and never follows up . I had recently wrote a review on Grand Sanitation. Well to give you an update, the owner had contacted me and sorted out the whole situation. The guy who was rude to me was fired plus he wasn't even manager. My can that they took away was immediately brought back, I was also given 3 months of free trash pickup. The owner was hands on with everything and emailed me every step of the way. He really cared about keeping his customer happy and satisfied with the service they are providing. Inquired about a quote with Grand Sanitation and after reviewing their commercial contract I decided on another service. It was my fault for not following up with the rep to tell him that I had went with another company, but I did not sign their contract. When their service rep for Edison, Les, called back to follow up, he was very upset and got verbally aggressive. "I hope you fail" were his exact words. I was very taken back his response, as someone who is also in the service industry, I understand being upset but I can not comprehend berating my customer. This review is based on how poorly a large company is ran. i had to seperate incidents with this joke of a company where they took and threw away items nowhere near my garage. when u leave extra garbage outside the bin near the bin they refuse to take, but in this case these were items outside of the bin not near the garbage and were taken and tossed. 1 item was a baby carrage which was 1000.00 dollars 2. was a air hose and a expensive flooring nail tool which was 500.00 dollars but what makes this incident even better is after the carrage incident and they wouldnt make good on it i cancelled my service with golinello. on 11-30-2023 6:58 (now reminder grand has been cancel and not even sup to step foot on my property) shows up and on camera seen opening the lid and loading these tools which was away from the bin in the bin and carry off to the truck. tool estimate is roughly $500.00 dollars. its not abt the price or cost its abt how their staff responded saying "no sir we didnt pick up your service ur service has been terminated" which is clearly a lie when i have their truck outside my house when our contract with grand is finished. i then call and speak to a guy name leo who informed me to come down and prove them wrong with the video footage showing that their truck was even there. so i then went to their pffice in plainfield which i met with a worker / manager outside the office and explain i was there to speak with leo since he wanted me to come down there. we reviewed the footage and he saw and agreeed it was a mistake on their end and shouldnt even be on our property and that he was now gonna go inside to speak with the owner rich golinello after a few minutes that same worker came outside to deliver a message since rich was to much of a coward hinself to deliver that they werent gonna make good on the second incident even though they are on camera and werent even sup to be on my property. this worker seem frustrated and seemed like he didnt want to give the bad news. dont tell a ex customer to come down to prove their company made a mistake if your gonna refuse to face the situation like rich and leo did. if you like to discuss and not stay in your office you should still have my information on file below is images and dates read more

Used them several weeks ago for dumpster waste removal No problem delivering and placing dumpster, however at removal their truck ripped out our cemented in ground basketball system. Putting my home address and phone number on here will not intimidate me and make me remove the review. Nor will calling other trash companies. Also stop calling your own employees uneducated. It makes you look furthermore idiotic. This review is to get back at you? I wrote this review after TWO emails from TWO different email addresses went unanswered. BEFORE ever speaking to you. You only reached out to me AFTER I wrote a negative review. A negative review based on the facts that your employees skipped my trash can, randomly without explanation, for months. I only complained AS STATED BELOW IN ORIGINAL REVIEW, when my trash was skipped continuously. My review was written when YOUR EMPLOYEE screamed he wasn't tasking my trash because he doesn't take black bags, NEVER USED THE WORD DIRT. The bag was not over 40lbs, I placed it in there myself, and he also left the small white bags on top if it for days as well. When I told you this about your employee(s) and their reactions to my complaints you told me how they aren't educated and aren't the best at explaining things. When i asked you why you didn't call me after I emailed you to explain the issues with my trash yourself, you told me you were incredibly busy answering "TONS OF EMAILS". That's funny because you've found an abundance of free time to respond to this review on 4 separate occasions, including when you posted my cell phone number and home address. When we went outside and confronted the trash man, we were told that he doesn't take trash in black bags .......... but he has for 4 months and we watch him take our neighbors trash, who have the SAME sticker as ours, in black bags. I pay for two picks up per week and rarely even use one pick up a week. Twice in the past few months I put out two bins and they only picked up one. *PLEASE READ* I have NEVER posted a review on here before because I have NEVER been this upset over a "business". I called because they had missed picking up trash for the THIRD time the last couple of months. They told me they would contact the driver that day and send him back. I called later that afternoon to hear the same story that "the drivers home now" when I originally called at 10AM. The supervisor nicely apologized and told me he'd personally come to pick up the trash the next day (July 4th). Yet, here we are, still with a full garbage can and a house full of guests. I am absolutely astonished and embarrassed to even be using this company. Every time my garbage is picked up, the garbage can is never returned to its proper location - on the side of the house. Instead of it being returned next to the house, it is placed right at the edge the driveway! I wouldn't care, except I pay for them to take it from that location and for it to be returned! They also don't check the second garbage can and often leave garbage in there! I switched from this company once before because of this issue and then they bought out the the company I switched to - I am looking for a new company! read more

I've been using these guys since I first moved to Cranford almost 9 years ago and don't have a single complaint. They do a great job.

They have gotten much better took some time but all good now garbage picked up all the time haven't had any hiccups
