I have spent a lifetime absolutely petrified of dentists, to the point where at my last appointment prior to Dr. Plotnick I was numbed and then left before the drill could even touch a tooth. Showing up to Grand Street Dental, the decor set the vibe: it was a very relaxing atmosphere with very relaxing music, laid out in a very nice way. After finding out I had a cavity that needed drilling, I became immediately nervous - as is tradition. I began shaking. Somehow, Dr. Plotnick convinced me to give it all a try anyway. Dr Jennifer Plotnick and her team are beyond professional and warm and helpful. This is a team that works together and delivers to their patient inside and outside the office. I go to Jen for my bi-annual cleaning and for all other Orthedontic and cosmetic procedures. I recently had a veneer put in (my first one) and it is beyond amazing how natural my smile looks. I also did my Invisalign through this practice and couldn't be happier with the results. although I live in Manhattan and am surrounded by many dental offices, I prefer making the trek to Brooklyn just so I can see this doctor. I've never liked going to the dentist this much. The staff is an amazing group of people who are not only professional but personable. They all seem to genuinely enjoy each other and this helps create an easy going atmosphere. The equipment is the latest and greatest and Dr. Plotnick is honest with the treatments and has always presented all options available. I used to live around the corner, so it was convenient as well. I've avoided going to the dentist for, well, too long. I got insurance and put it off a few more months but decided I had to go. One of the first things I heard when I walked into Grand St was someone laughing really hard from the back. So i assumed they were super high on laughing gas cause why else would you laugh at a dentists office. They weren't. This place is wonderful. Everyone is nice and attentive the care is top notch. Best dentist and support staff ever! The gorgeous and calming atmosphere that you are greeted with when entering the office represents the compassion, care and skill you receive here. I have been here several times for special procedures. I am on a budget so I sometimes get cleanings elsewhere but the difference in quality shows. I had a great experience with the back end of this office, unfortunately I can't say the same with the front office. I emailed before I made an appointment to ensure that the office was in-network with Cigna. I was assured via email that they were. The receptionist even asked me for my insurance information and told me that I was good to go. When I was in the office, it came to be that they actually aren't in-network as they charged me according to their UCR rates for the dental work I received. I paid for the services because I wanted to get the work done. Dr. Hassan, the associate, is amazing and Dr. Plotnick is very kind. What I am extremely disappointed in is the manager's reaction to me letting her know that I was misled. No apology from her. Instead she was extremely sarcastic and facetious. Even more flabbergasted that her initial reaction to me telling her this was that if I had felt like I'd been wronged I could terminate my care and I didn't have to come back. Honestly, if at the point I stated that I was misled, the right thing to do is apologize and offer a solution, not react with sarcasm. An awful front office destroys a practice. Dentists scare me. Period. The last time I went to the dentist he was busy extracting a lower wisdom tooth and it was torture . After that I never looked back . Fast forward to current times and I am much older now and actually need to go to a dentist to clean my teeth annually . I had found a great older dentist in queens but he's very old in his cleaning ways and so decided I would look for a new dentist . This place was recommended by a colleague as she had heard about Dr Plotnick from several friends . After reading Yelp reviews and rummaging though her Instagram account I decided to email them and see if they took my insurance . First of all Kris , the office manager, is so quick to reply your emails and I can feel her friendliness even through her emails . She was super helpful from the beginning of this process . When I came for my appointment I was so impressed by how clean and serene the office is . Kris is even nicer in person and she walks you through what your insurance benefits which was a huge plus . Dr Plotnick and her assistants and dental hygienist were amazing on my first visit . She made me feel at ease and explained everything to me thoroughly . They have a stand up X-ray which was great and very up to date . You don't need to bite on those painful films anymore ! My cleaning was awesome ! I didn't feel any pain at all . They found a cavity in one of my wisdom tooth and so she recommended I get that taken out. She was so convincing That I actually booked it the same day . And after much anxiety for a month , I went back to get that tooth taken out and let me tell you Dr Dadoun who was the oral surgeon was flawless . I never felt her putting the needle in for the anesthesia nor did I feel the tooth come out ! What I anticipated as something worse she made so easy!!! I wish I listened to Dr. Plotnick when I first went to her to start my journey of invisalign to complete my crown lengthening work I've been dying for years to get!! had a great two year run here in-network with cigna. policies have changed. first was told that they are now requiring payment upfront for all services and for the patient to deal with insurance as to keep the staff slim. they told me that it was taking too long for the insurance to pay them, and they pay the customer sooner. they told this to me after my cleaning in which they tried to collect the cleaning fee up front of $275. I had cigna and was under the impression my cleaning would be free, as it always was. no warning of changes in policies, so was very awkward in person. this seemed somewhat unprofessional, and I was confused, so I sent a few emails back and forth. Later, I was told that they are switching to out of network for all providers- which makes more sense in terms of prepaying, but was not initially explained this in a clear manner. If I were told that they were out of network with all insurance first, then I would feel less weird about everything. anyway, yes, it's a beautiful office and a beautiful staff. when it was accessible to me, everything was great. I can't afford to prepay my dental services, so i will go back to a basic dentist with a less appealing office and a plentiful staff to deal with insurance payments and who is in network. my husband goes to a dentist in manhattan who is boring on all fronts, but her billed rates are about 3x less than what my claim looks like for the same services. it's wild! if money is of no concern to you, then I recommend! read more

Dr. Plotnick and the entire team at Grand Street Dental were the best. I found the office due to my too-frequent trips to Sprout Home; the waiting and reception area looks more like a cool shop or extension of Sprout than a dentist office. I might've snapped some photos. I had sent in my insurance info before my visit, and the receptionist set me up with text reminders which were helpful and non-annoying. When I arrived, the receptionist shook my hand and seemed genuinely pleased to meet me. Dr. Plotnick's assistant Lisa did X-rays and was efficient and polite. Then Dr. Plotnick came in and reviewed my medical history right on the screen with me. She asked if I had any concerns or questions. This whole being treated like a human at the dentist thing...I like. Dr. Plotnick performed the cleaning herself, explaining what she was doing and what to expect. She didn't ask get-to-know-you questions that I couldn't answer because I had my mouth contorted; instead, she made light conversation and jokes when I could actually laugh or respond with natural timing. During the cleaning, I just enjoyed reggae music and the non-fluorescent vibe of the office. Her work was quick, thorough and not painful. At the end of the cleaning, I asked about whitening options. She shared some information and gave her opinion but didn't try to upsell me or anything. She left me with some samples, let me know that all was well and passed me back off to the receptionist to book again. Yes, please. Told all my friends. read more

I want to make sure you read this correctly: I just had 2 cavities filled, and I had a great time. Let me say it again. I had a GREAT time. I never thought that dental work was something that I could actually be happy about, let alone enjoy. My experience wasn't just tolerable. It was truly enjoyable. Dr. Plotnick and her assistant Lisa are an absolute riot. They are fun, and light, and made the whole process seem like a spa day. They are quick, professional and do outstanding work. They truly care about involving you in your own treatment. This isn't about just getting as many butts in the chair as possible. They embody what it means to care for and about their patients. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome, calm and relaxed. I've never been nervous about the dentist. If you are, this is the place to go. Bright, warm, and calm. The space is beautiful and clean, but not barren It certainly has it's own personality. At no point during my visit did I feel rushed. You know - Everytime I went to the dentist, before I went to Grand Street Dental, I always felt like it was a drag. Waiting for so long before someone can see me, feeling as if they just kind of wanted to "get it over with" with me, feeling anxious while waiting because I've got nothing to do and I'm watching people and children look stressed out, etc. Well, let me tell you that will not happen at Grand Street Dental. First off, when I walked in, I had to do a double take. I kind of peeped back outside to see if I didn't just accidentally trespass into someone's loft. The main waiting area was absolutely stunning. Lots of natural light, beautiful shelves with many books, art pieces on the walls, and (omg) comfortable seating. This was my first time here so I just came with my own book but I would not mind perusing the selves there. They had a lot of photography books and being a part time photographer, I always loved dabbling into some photography books. Anyway, I didn't wait very long to be seen. So, the nurse, Liza (I really hope that's your name becayse I I met someone else named Sarah that day and the names got jumbled up in my head. If not, I'm sorry!) was super nice and very social. She did my x-ray. The back was also super nice. Again, it seemed like walking into someone's loft. After the x-rays were done, Dr. Plotnick came in and also super nice and very social. She got to the cleaning and usually, in the past, I've been fine with cleanings. Just bored. Apparently, my appointment was slotted in the "Bob Marley hour" cause they were just playing Bob Marley while cleaning my teeth. And I was 100% fine with that. They engaged in conversation and Dr. Plotnick is very funny. Since my mouth was perpetually opened, I couldn't do much but just make some weird gurgling noise or just put my thumb up. She clearly is very knowledgeable in what she does. She explained what she was doing and answered any questions I had. They tried to do a before and after but a technical malfunction happened but I did see some of the pictures and my mouth didn't feel like my own. It felt new and that's amazing. At the end, she gave me advice on how to brush and floss, gave me a care package of a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss and showed me some of the various art and photography pieces (which were amazing and creative) around the place. You get a feel of who she is and that's awesome. Overall, I love the vibe and feel of the place and all the people from the desk to the nurse to the doc, were awesome. So, hey, you know that dental appointment you need to schedule but have been avoiding like the plague? Schedule it here and when it's done, wonder when is the next time you can come back. read more

So many places I could start with Grand Street Dental, but let me begin like my visit began: on the phone with Kris, the incredible, efficient, amazing office manager--she is all the good words in the dictionary. I'd heard and seen photographic proof of the beauty of the Grand Street Dental office, but I can confirm the photos just don't do it justice--it's absolutely gorgeous and completely unlike what you'd think a dentist office to look like. Dr. Plotnik greeted me in the waiting room with warm smile, while she was watering the plants. So, basically it was like I walked into her home, and that's pretty incredible. Being taken back to the treatment rooms, I'm happy to report they are just as modern and comfortable as the waiting room. And speaking of modern, last time I was there Dr. Plotnik was giddily telling me of a 3-D printer that was about to arrive. Nothing but the coolest, most modern technology for your teeth when you visit Jennifer. But the real point you're reading this review for: teeth. The care and expertise Dr. Plotnik provided is unmatched before in all my 30 years. For example, she hand-molded two teeth to look real, and darnit, they both looked even better afterwards then they ever had beforehand. She's a master, a perfectionist and a true pro. And she's super funny and kind. I've never been so confident with my smile and teeth. And that is priceless. The whole team is brilliant, kind and, gosh darnit, I want to live in that office. Dr. Plotnick is just incredible. I went to her needing two broken and badly damaged wisdom teeth removed, one that was close to a very expensive bridge. Dr. Plotnick and her incredible staff of amazing women make your fearful dental visits a truly enjoyable time. We laugh, we sing, we story tell. She will tell you honestly the current condition of your dental health, construct a plan to get it at the level it should be at, and together work towards that goal. In my personal experience, we found Dr. Plotnick in a bit of an emergency situation. She immediately shifted her schedule (which may or may not have happened twice - hallelujah to a dentist who understand life happens and is not crazy about a cancelation!) and took us step by step through the process and we left with smiles (one numb!) ear to ear. Not only did we solve the problem, but I knew from then on that we FINALLY found a neighborhood dentist we love and trust. I can only speak to my experience getting Vivera retainers but I must say that everything about this place is wonderful. Dr. Plotnick is warm, friendly, and attentive; you get the sense that she genuinely loves what she does and you never get the sense that she is rushing to see the next patient. You aren't, as they say, "just a number." The receptionists are also incredible and the place is immaculate. She was recently featured in NY Mag as the "hipster dentist." It is a funny moniker but I think captures, mostly, the office's decor. It simply doesn't look like a dentist's office; it looks more like a boutique. Everyone on the staff is warm and friendly. This dentist is incompetent with anything other than simple cleaning and hygiene procedures. As soon as she has to do anything complicated she will mess up your mouth and the fun ends. The fake smiles disappear and she becomes standoffish and nervous and her inexperience and ineptitude shows strong.
