I tasted hers and immediately hated myself because it was so good! I had a really well made rye manhattan afterwards - that guy can mix a great drink! And, the cocktail glasses were so classy! 1 star was removed because I ordered the mussels as my entrée and they came out when I was barely halfway into my soup. That is a big pet peeve of mine as I like to finish my appetizer, sit for a few minutes, and then go to the main course. I don't love it when the main is sitting there getting cold as I'm trying to finish my first course. For that reason, I sent them back. We got an email the day of our reservation saying that pipes had burst in the building we had for our reservation (they have four (I think it's four) buildings that comprise the inn) and they gave us options for other rooms. They upgraded us to a really lovely room. The location is excellent - across the street from the ocean. The furnishings were old (in a good way), heavy, wood pieces that really contributed to the place feeling warm and homey. The beds were superior. The shower pressure was strong. The sharing living room with fire place was so comfortable. The breakfast was top shelf. Homemade coffee cake and apple cake and blueberry muffins. Homemade pancakes one morning. Everything about breakfast was great - and included in the room cost. They have a restaurant and a pub in the main building. We ate at both. The staff were wonderful. The servings were more than ample (the bean and goat cheese salad was enormous, and the mussels appetizer was super generous). I had the ravioli with seafood, which was delicious. My husband loved the mussels. The crab cakes were truly full of crab meat, not filler. Our servers were relaxed, helpful, and friendly - making our dining even more enjoyable. We, as long as others, were doing laps around the main lot and the mini lot for the Harbor Hill Inn trying to find a spot. We ended up having to park on the street because there were not enough spots at Harbor Hill. When checking in, we were told there are enough spots for each room, yet the lot for our Inn was completely full. We were also told that if we found a spot, we shouldn't move the car. We wanted to explore the area more, so we did have to leave, it is odd to me that an Inn doesn't have a better parking situation for Inn patrons. We thought it would be fun to go to the pub for apps and a drink before our dinner reservation at the main restaurant. Unfortunately, we were met with an hour long wait for 2 at the pub. I do find it interesting when an Inn doesn't open up reservations or spots for their own guests to dine, rather than locals. When we did go to our dinner reservation, we had a nice time. Our waiter was helpful. When the food came, they brought out a wrong dish. The boy that brought it out told us he wished we said something before he put it on the table because now the dish couldn't be used. We weren't able to tell it wasn't the right dish until it was in front of us.... we then waiting 15 minutes for the right food to come out. Our waiter had them remake my meal as well since it got cold, which was nice. The food was great once we finally had it. They also comped 50% of the wrong dish which was also nice. After dinner we had drinks and headed back to our room to go to bed. A phone call woke us up. It was the front desk; they told us that "Someone came into the lobby furious that our room is being so loud. They said that last night, this morning and this evening we have been ridiculously loud." I told the person on the other line that we have been asleep in bed, and we only checked in this evening. I find it curious that the front desk wouldn't look who was in the room and if we had even been there the day prior. Then, instead of offering an apology, they said "well do you hear any noise?" I said earlier the room next to us was making some noise but nothing like they are describing. They then said, "well which side, right or left?" I said I do not know I need to go back to bed. Pretty unbelievable, and something that hasn't even happened to me at a cheap hotel. I wish I walked away feeling better about our stay, but it is in a beautiful location...

Even though the day was gloomy, chilly, and on-and-off rainy, it somehow made everything feel even more special. Right before our 3 PM ceremony, the rain eased into a light sprinkle, and thanks to my mom bringing a bunch of clear umbrellas to hand out, we were still able to have the ceremony outside. It was beautiful. After the ceremony, guests moved to a covered outdoor deck for cocktail hour, which was set up beautifully, and then into the Harborview Room for the reception. Everything flowed seamlessly. Dawn, our wedding coordinator, was incredible to work with. She handled everything behind the scenes so effortlessly that I didn't have to worry about a single thing on the day of. She truly made sure everything was perfect. I would absolutely recommend hosting your wedding here, or even just staying at the inn. It's charming and intimate without feeling too small, the staff is incredibly attentive, and the setting is peaceful and beautiful. And the food? Amazing. Truly next-level. And don't even get me started on the breakfast buffet... yeah the homemade apple cider donuts are unreal.

I recently stayed in the 2 bedroom Bungalows at the York Beach Surf Club, expecting a charming, seaside retreat based on their advertising. However, my experience was far from the picturesque getaway promised. The bungalows are marketed with promises of a deck, a view, and outdoor seating. In reality, there's no deck, no view to speak of, and no outdoor seating. The view from the front door? A concrete wall. From the back window? A poorly graveled parking lot complete with an overgrown area and the resort dumpster. Not exactly the serene beachfront escape one might imagine. The room sizes in the images online looked great, in reality it was vastly different. The custom-made furniture was supposedly designed to fit the space, but it felt more like a space-saving gimmick. The full-size beds in both bedrooms were shoved against 3 of the 4 walls, leaving just enough room to squeeze by. This setup was not only uncomfortable but also impractical for anyone needing to move around freely. A gross misrepresentation of the photos advertised online. The split heat/AC unit in the main room was the only source of climate control, which meant if you wanted to sleep in a cooled bedroom, you had to leave the doors open. Not ideal for privacy or comfort. The kitchenette was equipped with cabinetry that clearly once housed a microwave, but alas, no microwave to be found. Heating up a quick meal for the kids became a very cumbersome task. The advertised WiFi network was viewable from your phone, laptop and the in room TV but no devices would connect with the signal being too weak. Without internet, any intentions to check emails, remote work or letting the kids take a break from the beach with TV or Ipads was not possible. With no closets and no dressers in the cramped space, living out of luggage was the only option. They do offer a garment steamer or iron upon request, but this small convenience hardly compensates for the lack of storage. In summary, the York Beach Surf Club felt like a bait-and-switch operation. The reality of the accommodations was in stark contrast to the cozy, beachside charm advertised. If you're looking for a relaxing, well-appointed stay, you might want to look elsewhere.

Their website says nothing of this. It still allows for booking and takes your payment in advance. They took our money upfront and made no effort to let us know it was closed. We showed up after a 3 hour flight and 1 hour drive with 3 kids. No hotel!!!! Such a nightmare. The sad thing is that we loved this motel. Stayed there 3 times. Such bad business. how many other family vacations did they ruin? Why can't they just take the website down or post that they are closed?

Disappointing business practices! I booked online using the Union Bluff website, and because I…read morechanged my room type a couple of times during the booking (trying to decide on the loveliest one), the system defaulted my travel date to the day I was putting in my reservation (that same day) as opposed to my actual travel date the following month, and I didn't realize it at the time. Two weeks later I came upon the error when I noticed an invoice in my Email box for the hotel stay that of course had not actually happened yet. Since I had obviously never arrived, and never used the room, I reached out to the hotel in hopes that they would honor the money I had already paid for the date of my actual travel. Instead, I was told there was nothing they could do, that their "system doesn't allow it", and that unfortunately, I had to forfeit the almost $200 for a room that I never stayed in for a trip that I hadn't taken yet. Terrible business practice for an honest mistake on my part, and as someone who travels to Maine regularly as it's where I grew up, and where many family and friends still live. They have lost not just me as a customer, but an entire family and network.

Each recommendation she provided from morning coffee to dinner cocktails was everything and anything I could have hoped for. A few days with her itinerary suggestions will have you feeling like a 2 week vacation in 48 hours. There isn't a hallway you could walk down without being greeted with a smile and friendly hello from staff, or a drink you could order without being remembered by name and cocktail of choice during your stay. For what I could tell there are 2 outdoor pools, one indoor pool and a larger hot tub. There seems to be a lot of weddings there. I believe like 3-4 a weekend. The grounds were very well cared for and there were different activities throughout the day you could participate in. The location is a little remote which is nice, but hard to explore being that it was our first time in Maine. The food was pretty good for the most part. We liked the food better at The Tiller than Nubb's. The drinks are really tasty, but can get spendy. We overall really enjoyed our visit and stay at Cliff House. Rating would be 4.25

We never received written or electronic confirmation of our reservation nor the final bill despite calls and emails request it. Management was absent throughout the 5 days we were there. There was just a phone number posted on the locked office door to call. At booking we were not advised that there would be no housekeeping services. Wet, used towels were left for three days when new towels were finally provided. Overgrown bushes blocked driver's view when trying to exit the property onto a well traveled road. Piles of leaves, overgrown grass and long dead branches abound on the property. Balconies littered with dried leaves piles. Lighting and fixtures were intermittent and falling apart. Unfortunately 2026 marks the last time we will return to the Inn. A word to the wise....
