Would absolutely go back to York Beach Surf Club again. Stopped by after a long work weekend to just relax for a sip of coffee inside their lovely cafe and was greeted by the owner, Taylor, who made me one of the best iced chai lattes I've had in a while. My husband and I kicked back in the cafe and relaxed after a long work weekend. The entire staff was extremely friendly and kind. We also ordered the most delicious wings we have ever had and i when i say I seriously cannot wait to bring some of our photography clients back here I mean it. Thank you so much for allowing us to chill at your cafe and get some work done while chowing down on some epic wings. Also I will say this this space is extremely inclusive and have all gender bathrooms which we really loved to see y'all rock !

This place is deceiving. What is shown online is not entirely the same when you visit in person. We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. First off, I do want to say that the employees are very nice and accommodating. Not a rude person in sight. Anyways, we got placed on the 3rd floor of the main building, we both had our backpacks, 2 duffle bags, and one big luggage and we had to haul all of it up two flights of stairs because there are no elevators. Our room was nice and simple, although there was no dresser or a closet. There was only a coat rack with a shoe bench that you would see in someone's mud room or entrance area of their house. Thank God we had hangers for our wardrobe for the wedding we were attending otherwise we would've had to lay our things out on the bed with us. We just left our luggage open because there were no drawers to put anything in. I specifically did not bring my steamer because I thought that we'd have our own iron as most hotels have them in each room. This place does not have irons in their rooms nor do they have any on site! They had to go borrow one from another hotel. Crazy! Our bed was a little too soft for our liking, it felt like we were sinking into it. There is no phone in the room, so you have to physically go down to the front desk to ask for anything which is in a separate building from the rooms. Thankfully, I heard some housekeepers in the hallway and was able to snag some extra towels and toilet paper. One of them even said that it was my lucky day because usually they don't have extra linen or towels to give. Like whaaaat?!?! Also our TV was mounted on the side wall (refer to the picture). My only logic is that they had to mount it on the side wall because of the placing of the AC unit but at least mount it with a mount that could extend out and tilt. Our room came equipped with a safe, a nice fridge, & a blow dryer. Also had a good size balcony and a nice little side view of the ocean. There is also an on site pool and cafe. You can tell this place had some renovations done but it still needs some more love.

My husband and I loved it. This is not a "be completely pampered place", but if you love quiet, quaint and to be left along this is perfect. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. Rooms don't have closets, coffee makers or phones. But it does have a small refrigerator and a seat with hooks at the entrance. No cable but YouTube and you can sync your phone to the television. Internet is decent. A swing arm on the TV would be helpful as it's hard to watch in bed. We brought our dogs. There is plenty of grass around but bring your own poop bags. Cute updates, pretty surroundings and clean. We will be back.

I arrived at 12pm. I was advised my room would be ready in an hour. I go and check a few hours later and I'm told I still have to wait, they don't want me to go into a dirty room.. I then, check back again at around 5:30pm and was told again, they have to make a room key, it'll Take awhile. They said they would take me to my room while it was being made. I decided to wait. Finally at 630-7 I was able to get my key. I shouldn't have to pay full price for a night when the room wasn't even ready at check in time. I was told it would be ready at 1pm (earlier than check in) but I didn't end up getting into room til much later which is unacceptable. Upon arriving in my room. The sliding glass door is unlocked which doesn't make me feel very safe. There's a hair in the sink from someone. The mini bar is dirty and there's zero water in this room. I would have thought at least one bottle would be provided. Lastly, there's no safety lock on the door, the side table doesn't look like it's been cleaned. When I arrived I was not told about their food, coffee or towels offered at the pool. As a guest I would expect to learn about all of their amenities they offer as normal hotels would do. One of the worst parts of this whole trip!!! During the day and throughout it sounds like stampedes are happening upstairs constantly all throughout the day and during the night too. So much for rest and relaxation. Overall I am displeased and will not be coming back here.

False advertising. We booked based off booking.com and York Beach Surf Club Website. Things they advertised that they didn't have in the bungalow -queen beds (The rooms in bungalows are too small to fit a queen bed, the full bed hardly fit in the room) -closets (Not only were there no closets, there was no storage space at all besides a few kitchen cabinets. No dresser, shelves, etc, 2 suitcases took up the remaining free space in the bedroom) -large, tiled walk in shower (Literally the smallest shower they can legally install without getting an exemption, 30x30 inches and very tight, additionally a vinyl surround) -lots of vanity space (Enough for a toothbrush, the soap and not much else) -sleeps 4 (It is truly set up for 2 people and does not comfortably fit 4) We paid $320+ per night here for bungalows and we would have been better off with a double queen room, half the price and we actually would have had queen beds. I don't know why they blatantly lie about what they have available in the rooms online, as they specifically separate the bungalows from their other rooms. To my knowledge no rooms have closets or storage. The full beds are not sufficient for 2 people and are pushed up against the wall or at max a foot from the wall so if you need to get up in the middle of the night you are crawling over someone. We asked to get moved to a double queen so my grandparents could sleep comfortably and they could not accommodate that and did not offer any other assistance. When we cancelled several of our days because they did not deliver what was promised they tried to charge a cancellation fee and I had to try to cancel 3 different times before it was actually confirmed. After cancelling several of the nights, the AC mysteriously stopped working and was not fixed when we left 2 days later. We arrived at 4 on checkin day and it appeared that our room wasn't ready or had been given away, we waited 2 and a half hours and were promised a $25 credit for the inconvenience, we confirmed with the lady at the front desk that we had a credit, she said to bill it to the room and the credit would apply. We did and they insisted on getting my card at checkout because there were no notes that we had a credit, it appears they did charge us for it. Bathroom was very small and appears to have water damage and potential black mold. The room was overall quite uncomfortable and a huge disappointment and cause of stress and bad sleep for myself and my grandparents. Service was poor, we never got extra towels that we requested, the room credit issue and their unwillingness to help us after we were trying to move to a different room. We will definitely not be back and don't recommend it to others. It has now been several months since my stay and I have been working to attempt to correct the issue so I can get a refund for the nights I could not stay (due to the poor living conditions not being up to standard which was contrary to what they advertised) and I have been given the runaround for over a month, I was supposed to be called 4 different times but each time it is conveniently forgotten and the number I am supposed to call is never answered and the mailbox if full. When we went the whole lobby was filled with angry guests and I definitely know why now.

How should I start?? The bungalow that we rented $2,000 for 4 days was definitely not the one that you see in the pictures!! There were no hanger, luggage racks, we lost the Internet and TV reception after the first day! when we were try to get staff would often disappear! There was not an air conditioner, one of the bedrooms, bathroom was so tiny that it was hard to turn around! The floor was filthy.. porch has a board that was sticking up.. when I mentioned it to the GM she said maybe we could put a rug over it! But they did come over and screw it down. Very disappointed about the Internet and the television we're planning a tv night with the kids. We had no phone service

Renters Beware: No amenities that are mentioned on the website are available on property for 2024 season as stated on website: https://www.yorkbeachsurfclub.com. They advertise: FAST and FREE Wi-Fi (Best on the Beach) - THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WiFi nor Cell service in the Bungalow area. Good Luck using the Television or working from "HOME" during your stay. It's 2024 get your act together YORK BEACH SURF CLUB! We booked our vacation at the beginning of the year (2024). As frequent visitors of York, ME we would drive by this hotel and it looked great! Checked out the website and liked what we saw so we booked. Fast forward to August 2024 (Our Vacation) Arrived on property and entered the Management Office, we were ignored for approximately 5 mins. No greeting nothing... We we tried to check-in we weretold that we couldn't check-in until 4pm when our emailed confirmation/reservation states check-in is at 3pm. (Slight annoyance about the check-in time but extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service). At check-in we were not told anything about the lack of amenties no longer available nor an apology or acknowledgement. We had to learn this from are initial view of the property and also speaking with other guest. Finally entered our Bungalow. Disappointed to say the least! Furnisings in the our Bungalow inlcuded a ripped couch, a luggage bench and two beds up against three of the 4 bedroom walls. Couldn't walk around the bedroom. If you have any type of limitations physically there are no accomodations. You can't walk around the bed and need to crawl over your partner to get out of the bed. The pictures on the website do state that room design may vary but to to have no furnishing for people to sit and eat in a place with a kitchen is terrible. We used our beach chairs to sit in our room and there is no seating available near or around your bungalow as it's stated. Saw no grilling stations. In the bungalows there were limited items noted as cooking utensils. If you plan on booking make sure you BYOK (Bring your own kitchen supplies). Upon booking we noted the amount of guests that were with us and there were not enought towels to accomodate everyone. When asking for more supplies we were met with hesitation and rudeness. (Towels, ICE, cleaning supplies). As for the POOL swim at your own risk. The pool was a nasty green color and very cloudy. There is no restaurant or bar and it's convenient that the website was recently updated to note this but they didn't reach out to their Renters to let them know that none of these features are available this season. Customer Service was lacking on this property and the employee don't seem to care. They all have different stories as to why amenities are not available and you are given excuses or I don't know when you ask questions. Good Luck! Overall this hotel was an extreme let down and I feel like we were scammed. This is the FYRE FESTIVAL of HOTELS! Nothing but Smoke and Mirrors. RENTERS BEWARE.

Front "not ocean view" fido friendly room. We set up our own chairs. And stole the floor mat from the staff entrance area.

We had High Hopes!! We have been watching the remodel over the past couple of years and we were so excited to finally book our stay last weekend for a mother daughter trip! Boy were we surprised! Whoever created the web site did an Amazing job at deceiving us! What happened to our Fido Friendly Ocean View room for $500 plus an additional $75 fee for our dog when your web site clearly states no hidden fees, where were our Luxurious Rooms with bedding/linens to dream about we didn't even have fitted sheets, (we had 1 towel and 3 facecloths for 4 of us), 1 roll of tp for 3 days, where was our seating area, why was our curtain rode falling off the wall, where were we supposed to hang our fancy clothes for hanging out by the fire pits that the staff wouldn't light and then wanted to extinguish before we were done, where was our boogie breakfast delivered to our rooms in the morning, where were the attentive staff, why was the owner more concerned with being the bartender and chatting with friends then catering to his guests, why was the pool chilly, why was there old food left around the pool and even smeared on one of the day beds, why oh no why! This place has amazing potential!! Even though we were incredibly disappointed we did make the best of our stay and bonded with many fellow guests over these issues that we all seemed to be to experiencing! We would like to suggest these improvements be made asap! 1. Retake accurate room pictures. 2. Remove wording on your web site about ocean view. 3. Remove wording on your web site about high end bedding/linens. 4. Move the Tv to a better area or add an extendable arm. 5. Have a phone in the room. 6. Have a Motel information book in the room with area info and menus for the motel and around. 7. Price adjust your rooms accordingly. Fido Friendly room should not be more than $250! 8. Add a sitting area inside the rooms and outside the rooms and on upper balcony of Fido rooms. 9. Have adequate towels, toilet paper and extra bedding/blankets. Have mattress protectors and fitted sheets. 10. Ensure fire pits are going in the evening for guests without asking. 11. Come out to the fire pits in the evening and greet your guests and offer then drink refills and snacks. 12. Ensure the pool area is cleaned regularly. 13. Actually heat the pool. 14. Offer bikes or surf board rentals. 15. Owner take an active role in ensuring the hotel is running up to its potential.

Had an amazing stay at the York Beach Surf Club! Beautiful property, such a peaceful, eclectic, yet energetic vibe. The Pineapple Cafe food by Chef à amazing! Definitely going to stay again!

My friend loves the supper rolls, so we started there and I got a cup of clam chowder. The portions were big and the chowder was a great flavor and consistency - not too thick or too runny. The drinks we ordered were also really good. I made the mistake of getting a regular espresso martini and my friend got the special one with the horchata. I tasted hers and immediately hated myself because it was so good! I had a really well made rye manhattan afterwards - that guy can mix a great drink! And, the cocktail glasses were so classy! 1 star was removed because I ordered the mussels as my entrée and they came out when I was barely halfway into my soup. That is a big pet peeve of mine as I like to finish my appetizer, sit for a few minutes, and then go to the main course. I don't love it when the main is sitting there getting cold as I'm trying to finish my first course. For that reason, I sent them back. They looked great, so I would really like to go back at some point and try them. The restaurant was really good overall, so I definitely want to come back.

We got an email the day of our reservation saying that pipes had burst in the building we had for our reservation (they have four (I think it's four) buildings that comprise the inn) and they gave us options for other rooms. They upgraded us to a really lovely room. The location is excellent - across the street from the ocean. The furnishings were old (in a good way), heavy, wood pieces that really contributed to the place feeling warm and homey. The beds were superior. The shower pressure was strong. The sharing living room with fire place was so comfortable. The breakfast was top shelf. Homemade coffee cake and apple cake and blueberry muffins. Homemade pancakes one morning. Everything about breakfast was great - and included in the room cost. They have a restaurant and a pub in the main building. We ate at both. The staff were wonderful. The servings were more than ample (the bean and goat cheese salad was enormous, and the mussels appetizer was super generous). I had the ravioli with seafood, which was delicious. My husband loved the mussels. The crab cakes were truly full of crab meat, not filler. Our servers were relaxed, helpful, and friendly - making our dining even more enjoyable. When checking in, we were told there are enough spots for each room, yet the lot for our Inn was completely full. We were also told that if we found a spot, we shouldn't move the car. We wanted to explore the area more, so we did have to leave, it is odd to me that an Inn doesn't have a better parking situation for Inn patrons. We thought it would be fun to go to the pub for apps and a drink before our dinner reservation at the main restaurant. Unfortunately, we were met with an hour long wait for 2 at the pub. I do find it interesting when an Inn doesn't open up reservations or spots for their own guests to dine, rather than locals. When we did go to our dinner reservation, we had a nice time. Our waiter was helpful. When the food came, they brought out a wrong dish. The boy that brought it out told us he wished we said something before he put it on the table because now the dish couldn't be used. We weren't able to tell it wasn't the right dish until it was in front of us.... we then waiting 15 minutes for the right food to come out. After dinner we had drinks and headed back to our room to go to bed. A phone call woke us up. It was the front desk; they told us that "Someone came into the lobby furious that our room is being so loud. They said that last night, this morning and this evening we have been ridiculously loud." I told the person on the other line that we have been asleep in bed, and we only checked in this evening. I find it curious that the front desk wouldn't look who was in the room and if we had even been there the day prior. Then, instead of offering an apology, they said "well do you hear any noise?" I said earlier the room next to us was making some noise but nothing like they are describing. They then said, "well which side, right or left?" I said I do not know I need to go back to bed. Pretty unbelievable, and something that hasn't even happened to me at a cheap hotel. I wish I walked away feeling better about our stay, but it is in a beautiful location...

When the welcoming staff opened the two front doors to welcome me to the lobby, It's in that moment that it seems all reality is left behind, and the only thing before you is immaculately stunning ocean views of the coast of Maine reflecting off of the floor to ceiling windows that greet you like doors to heaven. The upscale accommodations, mouthwatering food from breakfast to dinner, exquisite details in their decor esthetic, and ability to satisfy a romantic getaway or a family trip to remember, are not what sets the cliff house apart from any other experience you may have elsewhere. It is the professionalism poise, and sincerity that is shown to you by every staff member from housekeeping to event manager. Mary Ryan was a name in particular that I would have to highly recommend to assist you in making your experience one you won't soon forget. She was nothing short of a Fairy Godmother who which a flick of her wand had the ability to make you feel like royalty. From stocking your fridge with your favorite beverages and snacks, to scheduling activities for the kids throughout the day...her expertise is personalized to your interests to ensure your stay is made uniquely special to you. Each recommendation she provided from morning coffee to dinner cocktails was everything and anything I could have hoped for. A few days with her itinerary suggestions will have you feeling like a 2 week vacation in 48 hours. There isn't a hallway you could walk down without being greeted with a smile and friendly hello from staff, or a drink you could order without being remembered by name and cocktail of choice during your stay. Its beauty speaks for itself, but its quality is a true reflection of its employees. Always grateful for my experience and hope so many others are able to have a taste of paradise in any season!

The lobby has beautiful decor and the view over the cliff is fantastic. Every floor has a Maine Station- which includes a coffee station, 3 water options, and some fruit. Our room was spectacular and had a view over the cliff. It was not warm outside so unfortunately we weren't able to use the outside pools. For what I could tell there are 2 outdoor pools, one indoor pool and a larger hot tub. There seems to be a lot of weddings there. I believe like 3-4 a weekend. The grounds were very well cared for and there were different activities throughout the day you could participate in. The location is a little remote which is nice, but hard to explore being that it was our first time in Maine. The food was pretty good for the most part. We liked the food better at The Tiller than Nubb's. The drinks are really tasty, but can get spendy. We overall really enjoyed our visit and stay at Cliff House. Rating would be 4.25

The gentleman that checked us in was helpful, professional and friendly. Ideal location in the heart of York Beach steps from the sand. Parking is an off street lot across the street, though the York Beach parking enforcement officer (replete with military combat boots and tactical military issue pants) was kind enough to give me a parking citation during the five minutes I unloaded our luggage. There was no meter or sineage where the car was parked. Upon entering the ocean view king suite we were impressed with the size and style of the unit. As we sat down on a weathered pull out couch we noticed a large coffee stain on the coffee table. We also noticed plentiful crumbs and chocolate chips on the couch (and even more crumbs as we opened the pull out section). Worse still it was clear that the pull out couch long surpassed its useful lifespan and had a large 3 inch sharp piece of metal sticking out. King bedroom was a bit cramped but nice bed and pillows. On the nonexistent WiFi alone I would have picked another property if I had known. The given WiFi router worked for 2-3 minutes the entire stay. One of the bedroom lamps did not work. A few of the electrical outlets did not function and others could not have passed any inspection. The washer (of the stackable washer/dryer) did not work. The unit was great size and comfortable for four of us. The location cannot be beat. But the several misses keep this property from a higher score. If they would address the above problems we would return. If not, we will pick another property for our next stay in York.

It's within walking distance to everything, and they are very accommodating. The rooms are very cozy, have a jacuzzi tub, and even fireplaces. The Atlantic House is definitely our go-to for York Beach!
