If you're considering booking this lodge, just do it before the few rooms they have fill up! I was planning a last minute trip and there weren't many choices in the area since they had all filled so I booked here, not quite sure how the experience was going to turn out. Well, I can say that we had a fantastic stay and Donny, the owner, was marvelous. It's close to all the restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream shops in the area, making it incredibly convenient. Plus, Donny is opening his own restaurant soon in the lodge. Our room was clean and cozy. The bathrooms are very small but functional. There was a portable radiator in our room to keep the temperatures warm throughout the night. The room is also equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. Take advantage of the outdoors fireplace at night. Donny was super nice and provided us with marshmallows. He also has bikes parked outside that we borrowed for free. It's a great idea to bike around town if you have some extra time during the day. read more

What a gem of a find. We typically stay at our friend's cabin when we come up here but this time we decided to stay in one of the hotels to support the local economy during Covid. The fire pit was so relaxing and they sell beverages on the outdoor patio. It is an "old school" hotel so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it was clean and that, to us, is the most important thing. If you're up here to get away and just enjoy the lake and town you will not be disappointed. The owners are fun to talk with as well. read more

Good price and clean room but it's very small and just old. Floors are very creaky so keep your fingers crossed that you get a room on the upper floor. Unfortunately for us we were on the bottom floor and had a large family directly above us that woke up at 5:30am each morning and stopped around like they were the only ones in the whole building. Wanted to order food but the multiple menus with different items on each made us think it wouldn't be that great so we ordered from the Sagebrush. Music outside in the courtyard was nice. Would have been 4 stars but being woken up at 5:30 each morning while on va action wasn't very pleasant. read more

Comfortable accommodations, very friendly owners and great location. This used to be a rental property, recently turned into a hotel. The new owners took over in April 2019, and just opened a bar and restaurant on the grounds. Rooms are comfortable, well priced and overall it was a good place to get some rest. I didnt try the restaurant, and the bar was in the works, with a very small selection, but the owners were friendly and pleasant. The only complain were the blinds on the door, which limited privacy (you could see the bed from outside) and the morning light woke us up way too early. I would suggest investing in curtains! The owner recommended booking directly through the hotel rather than via third party sources. Id stay here again! read more

There is a huge patio with lots of tables and chairs. On weekends, they have live music and the bar is open. We are here on a Monday so no music or bar which is not a big deal. The rooms are very rustic, maybe part of its charm. It may seem petty but it really bothers me not to have lamps on the sides of the bed. I like to read and the two ceiling lamps are not adequate. read more

If you love to party, this is the place for you. Good luck finding the "lobby", it is not marked any where as you go through the courtyard restaurant with your bags. Rooms had broken windows that did nothing to keep out the sound of the band right outside the door. It was a great view of the band and that was fun until you want some peace and quiet. The woman who checked us in said "I hope you like music". If we weren't staying here, the place would be a blast, but we couldn't watch tv or even read, the music was so loud in our room. The shower is so tiny with a plastic shower curtain and a very tiny sink. The room was cute and had a fireplace. I probably would have enjoyed this place if it were winter. read more

Went here with family recently and had the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The facts: they were out of most everything on the menu, there was a clump of hair in my appetizer -so I declined to eat it and my entrée as my appetite was gone. The rest of my family ate their lunches and I hung out chatting with waitress who brought me a replacement appetizer which I didn't ask for but declined politely. It was time to pay and I went outside with my two small children while brother, sister in law, and husband stayed inside to pay the bill and finish eating. Soon my sister in law came out and told me when my husband pointed out the bill had two charges for both appetizers and my meal and they shouldn't be because I didn't eat due to previously mentioned hair the chef (a short haired white female ) came out very angrily told the group that either we pay the full tab or she calls the police and said I attempted robbery because I placed the hair in my own food. I was so upset I went back in to verify facts....spoke to said chef and all of the above was confirmed. I did put my hair in a ponytail however the waitress set the food down and watched as the hair cluster was under the jalapeño....not on top. Chef explained people do this to get free food and apologized for being abrasive. She said shed make a deal and she'd pay for one appetizer but I needed to pay for one appetizer and my entrée or she'd call the police and they could charge me. She also said she has to look out for her business as they've only had 5 tables that day- I pointed out this is why we ate local to support the community but to acuse me and bully me into paying was absolutely out of line. Chef ended up giving my husband a $20 (after charging an extra $6 aside from the already ridiculous charges) to "make up for everything ". Eat anywhere in grand lake. This place is a cozy hotel, feels like a cabin. It was clean, they had live music while we were here for out stay. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. The hospitality was outstanding, they make you feel right at home. It's only 5 minutes from the entrance to the national park, so it's very convenient. It's in the middle of the village so everything is walkable. 10/10 would recommend. read more

We were the first ones in here for breakfast. After 30 minutes we asked if the food was coming and the waitress said it's on the way. We waited another 10 minutes and the waitress eventually came and told us they never put our food in. We left without eating breakfast. This was a very frustrating experience and the staff weren't even that apologetic. Do not go here unless you have time to kill and dont really care if you get your food! read more

I wanted to give this place a good review- I really did. The location was so convenient and the rooms were very tidy and clean (though overpriced for very few amenities) with lots of charm. The food was delicious at the restaurant as well. Unfortunately, they failed on two regards for me- not a lot of hotel staff were wearing masks while serving food/drinks and there was a full bar/live music performance going on with little mask wearing or distancing. The second- overall hospitality and customer service was abysmal. We were all treated as a giant inconvenience by all hotel staff with the exception of our server Adam, who was great. So cute when you think of a mountain hotel this makes you feel right at home from the staff to the cozy cabin decor in the rooms. The rooms are so cute and comfy and you really can not beat the price location is perfect and the staff are so sweet they have restaurant on site that's open late at night and early mornings. The food is great home comfort food. This place Just sends cozy winter Christmas vibes and so glad we stayed we will be coming back every year just for the experience. read more

This place it the best weekend cabinish retreat. There's a fire pit in the well-appointed court yard. And the rooms decorated very well (ask if a room with a fireplace is available). The new owners seemed very nice and accommodating. Their dog was an amazing host! The restaurant on site had delicious Mac-n-cheese. There was some noise from adjacent rooms, but not after nine PM and just due to the age of the building. read more

Spent one night at this lodge, but wish I could have stayed longer!! The lodge is seated at the end of grand lake, close to the Dairy King, perfect spot for walking into town for food or shopping. Our room was comfortable, clean, and a perfect size for two, with a great view of Mount Baldy off our front balcony. We met the new owner, Donny, who was super sweet. He had even lit a fire out front and was spending time with guests the night we were there. He has bikes available to ride around town. There was cornhole for outside entertainment as well as a game room and pool table with a piano for indoor days. Plenty of parking. We can't wait to come back soon to see the cafe and bar he has planned to put in, as well as to come hear the live music!! Arrived at this hotel after a lengthy hike to hear a loud band playing in the front. One of the shower faucets came unscrewed when I tried turning it on to shower. There's no AC, and I couldn't open the windows because there's no screens, also the band/singer was very loud. read more

This place is special. Family owned. With COVID staff is short but they do the best they can. Sometimes people want it to be a quiet mountain retreat. But guys give them a break! They are trying to get a restaurant and bar going along with their lodging. The music is incredible, the food is great and affordable for Grand Lake. I have read some really crappy stuff about these guys and it is frustrating. Once you meet all the owners you know they want to make their customers happy. If someone isn't happy they try to fix it. The Gumbo is amazing, the fries are cut in house, and the burgers are hand patties, and the beef po boy... it is ribeye, real steak not the shaved stuff. So check them out and leave them great reviews. Leave every place in Grand Lake great reviews because they are all doing the best they can under the circumstances. read more

The location for starters in on the corner of the Main Street of the town, so it looks bigger and more secluded than it is. We had a horrible experience here and upon check in were told there were no King beds in the entire building. We asked for a cot or air mattress because we would not both fit in a Queen comfortably. They said no to that also. So we found another hotel across the street far nicer and actually on the lake with a King bed for the same price and checked in there instead. Our 3 day trip was paid in advance before we saw the room so they said it was non-refundable. I went back the next day to talk to the manager who said that they did have 2 King bed rooms but they were booked and they did have a cot/air mattress for the floor. She said she would only refund half back because Booking.com keeps the other half. I was told by our other hotel that this is a lie. Booking.com does not keep half. There also was a band playing 24/7 for 4th of July weekend which they said we were told with a flyer/email but the reality was the tiny hotel with band in courtyard would also have made it impossible to sleep. Long story short, pretty shabby place and the price wasn't reflective. If it was up to par we would have stayed. Even on the floor on an air mattress. They decided they could keep half the money and we never even stayed there. We did call ahead of time to ask if they had a king bed and they told us yes which was confirmed by the manager/owner. The name and photos made it appear like a big lodge and not a tiny motel. read more

We spent 4 nights at the Grand View Lodge in Grand Lake, CO over the Thanksgiving weekend. The accommodations were less than acceptable. We had room service after the 1st night and then no show. It was a good thing there were extra towels in the room. The bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in. The shower was so small and the worse thing of the shower is that there were constant blasts of either hot water or cold water. The morning we left we opted to not have a shower before we left...just could not deal with the shower situation. The blinds covering the door and window had gaps and totally inadequate for privacy. It snowed while we were there, however walkways were not cleared. We did notice a snow blower by the entrance to the restaurant. Our last night there was no parking on the side street and had to park out on the main street...then having to trudge through deep snow to get to the walkway leading to our room. The only good thing about this stay was the food and service was great in the restaurant. It pains me to offer such a negative review...we were so disappointed in our stay. We drove from northwestern Nevada to spend the weekend with other members of our family...they rented a house and were happy with their accommodations.. We understand this establishment is under new ownership...there needs to have lots of renovating to this property to make it better. read more
