Nestled right along the Fall River, this place surprised me. When I say right along the River I mean within 20 feet! The sound is soothing and there are multiple fire pits the length of the inn (s'mores from 6-9 and everything is provided free of charge). We had a king room w/fireplace and it was large, clean, and well appointed. The bathroom was large as well. It was an easy walk to downtown and all the eclectic shops. The inn staff were pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was continental, and as continental goes, was nothing worth mentioning. All in all, we loved the place! read more

Beware of 3rd Floor ! walking into the rooms you will immediately notice how the floor vibrates and bounces . That's because the subfloor hidden under that thick carpet is probably rotten and/or worn out . After searching around Estes Park for the best dog-friendly hotel option for a weekend getaway with my partner, I came across Silver Moon Inn, which will forevermore be my go-to in that adorable town. Super reasonable pet fee, unless most other hotels in Estes Park. Good amount of parking in the lot. Wonderful customer service during all parts of our stay. It's really the small details that made me excited to give this property 5 stars. We had sooo many towels. Body lotion. Magnifying mirror. Great quality TV. Two extra chairs. Comfy beds. And of course, fantastic continental breakfast. Seems minor, but there were other randomly thoughtful things I loved. I was impressed with this inn and look forward to visiting again! read more

This is a 3 1/2 star review. Upon check-in, Sam was working the front desk and did not exude warm hospitality. Instead, he appeared to enjoy the sound of his own voice by talking ad nauseam about the parking lot procedure across the way. We stayed 4 nights on the 3rd floor where we enjoyed a wrap-around deck with our unit. Our views were the huge hillside boulder that was within arms reach from the deck. The property is located on the edge of town, on Fall River, away from the traffic, yet still within walking distance to all the shops downtown, and only 12-15 minutes from both the Fall River and Beaver Meadows entrances to RMNP. The continental breakfast is as continental as it gets. Heavily processed prepackaged pastries, processed yogurt, cereal, instant oatmeal, pop tarts, tomato juice orange and apple juice that comes from a dispenser, mass-produced bagels, bananas, apple, and hard boiled eggs. We were there for a total of 6 days and the offerings never changed. The beds were comfy but the air conditioning in the room would turn off during the night. There were 2 hot tubs and a swimming pool at the property. There are no lifeguards on duty and the pool is not maintained daily, so any bugs and leaves you'll have to skim on your own. Better to catch the pool when it's been freshly serviced. At night, there are fire pits and ziplock bags of soggy graham crackers, 2 marshmallows, and a piece of a Hersey bar to make s'mores with. On the 5th night we had to move to a 2nd floor unit and I didn't realize how good we had it. I could hear every step that our neighbors took and every cabinet/drawer opening and closing. If you can book a 3rd floor unit, there's more steps (no elevator) but definitely worth it. The true unsung heroes of the property, Chad and the entire housekeeping staff made our stay enjoyable and memorable. Chad moved all of our luggage and personal items to the new unit so all we had to do was turn the key and move right in. He was so gracious and personable that we wished we had interacted with him the entire duration of our stay. The housekeeping staff were so kind, always greeting us and checking to see if we needed anything else. The rooms were meticulously cleaned with plenty of towels provided. I'd recommend this property to anyone that's planning to visit RMNP or just someone that's coming in from out of town, looking to spend a long weekend. read more

By far one of the most fun hotel stays I've ever had! Sam, our hotel clerk went out of his way for us and all of the guests gathering anything from firewood to s'mores to make our stay enjoyable! He even helped start the fires in the fire pits! The hotel is old but quaint; it the perfect down home, cozy feel you want during the winter months in Estes Park. The location along the stream with fire pits, chairs and swings makes it so you never have to leave the hotel to have a great time. There are no elevators but that shouldn't be held against this two story hotel, it's part of the history and mystique. There was ample free parking, great WiFi, a fridge, and microwave in the room. The best hotel I've ever stayed in. The moment I checked in , I instantly fell in love with the entire property. Location- closely located to Rocky Mountains national park. Few seconds walk to Estes Park downtown. Need groceries ? Safeway is only less than five minutes drive. Rooms- Don't let the older age of the property fool you. The owners obviously take pride in their property. Every piece of furniture, counter top etc all feel brand new because they meticulously maintain everything in there. No scratch no dents. Even the AC was sparkling clean , not a piece of dust. The larger fridge in the room was a plus for me because I wanted to stock up on fruits and cold cuts and Cold water.*** The beds were much more comfortable than any other five star hotel I've ever stayed in. Towels were clean and fluffy. *** Property amenities- there are multiple barbeque grills ( which were sparkling clean) located near the creek. Fire pit and swing set all throughout. S'mores available from 5-8pm nightly. How much better can this get? We never had to eat out. We drove to Safeway every day and just bought stuff to grill and enjoyed our meal by the Creek. Customer service- everyone that worked here had the best personality. Always smiling and willing to help. Especially the owner! Breakfast- continental breakfast provided every morning. While it was a simple breakfast, everything was fresh and delicious. Fruits, hard-boiled eggs, juices, coffee, tea , fresh bread and bagels and a huge assortment of spreads..and much more. Covid 19 precautionary- the hotel practices safe precaution by wearing mask + gloves while enforcing social distancing. Constantly cleaning. We felt safe throughout our stay. Loved this place! Great location to downtown and quick drive to RMNP. Our room was clean and the shower never ran out of hot water. The mattress was comfortable and the sheets were very clean. The river right outside of your door is a major bonus! I normally don't watch tv while on vacation but one day I wasn't feeling well and spent a long time in the room and there were lots of channels and things to watch. read more

What a fabulous inn! We stayed one night while visiting the park and surrounding area. Our room was upstairs at the end of the property. So quiet and peaceful. The balcony is really big and sits almost on top of the river. The fireplace is an easy flip of a wall switch and heats the room quickly. The bathroom layout feels spacious and the closet has enough storage for suitcases and hiking gear. There is an exhaust fan in the bathroom which so many places miss including. They have fires going on the property in the evening where people gather to make s'mores or relax. Parking was super easy, whether on the property or one of the adjacent public lots (they have a pass). Thorough explanation of the property and amenities was provided at checkin by Chad. I think I would choose a simple, rustic, state park/national park style inn any day to a ritzy and less inviting boutique hotel. The key is that as long as it's clean (especially the beds), you'll find me smiling ear to ear from the quirky decor, continental cereal breakfast, exterior entrances, free parking and close proximity to nature. Silver Moon Inn is a perfect example of this- down home friendliness, a creek running across the front of the building, walking distance to all the shops in Estes Park, simple room decor and very clean beds. When you check every bed you visit while traveling, you start to learn that higher prices do not always equate with uber clean beds. Breakfast had good options for a continental and we looked forward to evening s'mores every night! This is not your standard chain hotel, we got to know the staff and felt very welcome and at home. If we had to comment about anything, it would be that our mattress was a bit softer than we like and we could definitely hear people moving around in the room above us. Don't think we would have been as satisfied with our stay anywhere other than Silver Moon. You're at the end of the road to the foot traffic but are at the cusp of all the action- making you feel a part of it all but a more comfortable distance. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff are friendly/helpful/accommodating, the TVs/channel options were very nice- we turned the TV on more here than we had the other stops on our trip. There is also an outdoor music area next to the hotel and one evening we sat and enjoyed the music from the hotel premises next to the river (there are varying "comfy" chairs). Their parking lot is small but only one night we had to park in the public lot across the road (they give passes to display to avoid ticket) but you can easily spot your car/see the lot from just outside your room. I felt they covered all the bases and the price couldn't have been more right for our 3 nights there. Would have happily stayed a few more. Only complaint is no elevator so a bit difficult getting luggage up to third floor. read more

The creek in front is beautiful and so relaxing & hearing the water running from our room. Loved our double queen, fireplace room right on the creek, #117 is an amazing room!! A dozen ELK came to play in the water and hung out on the grassy area next to our room. Great for families! We have 3 kids (7, 12, 15). Loved the fire pit out front, they provide firewood (build your own fire) and smores - nice touch! Felt "covid" safe with staff wearing masks, distancing in the Lobby and thank you for still offering a nice Breakfast unlike other hotels because of Covid. We met Chad at the desk and he immediately hooked us up with 3 room options which he promptly showed us for our selection. After we decided on the room he insisted on helping us take our bags to the room. The room had a wood burning fireplace which was low on fire wood from the previous guests. He and another associate VERY PROMPTLY provided us with ample firewood for the night. He even gave us a killer rate on the room. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a stay in Estes Park. Pros - located close to downtown and highway access. Friendly and helpful staff always available in the office. My family loved Fall River running through the property, and my wife and I stayed up every night and drank wine by the fire pit by the river. There are always complimentary snacks in the lobby, as well as a s'more bar beginning late afternoon. The grounds are maintained well. There is a rock climbing wall and amphitheater on property. A special shout-out to employee Chad. His customer service is top-notch, and he "gets it" when it comes to customer service. He noticed that the local celebrity elk Sven had wandered onto property the first night of our stay, and ran across the property to show my kids the best spot to view him. You will see Chad working tirelessly all day. He always takes time to ask my family how our stay is going, and if we need anything. Thanks Chad! The only Con we encountered was the walk up to floor three. It didn't bother us, but other guests might want to stay on floors 1 & 2. read more

What a great place for a stay in Estes! The location is perfect- right on the edge of downtown so everything is walkable. There are multiple fire pits, sitting areas on the river and grills on the property for people to gather and hang out. The inn is a combination of regular rooms and full condo type accommodations so there are options for individuals and families/groups, and rooms were clean/well-kept and had a "mountain feel" to them. Free continental breakfast and major bonus of s'mores kits in the evening for those fire pits! The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. My husband, my 2 boys, and myself stayed here Tuesday March 17th. We were traveling through Colorado, and Estes Park is my favorite. This place was awesome! We stayed on the bottom floor right next to the creek. We had our own patio, and a fire pit next to the creek. Gave us a feel of camping. Not only was there a fire pit, but they GAVE us all the fixings for smores!!! Best thing EVER!! My boys (13 & 8) we beyond excited!! The rooms were very very nice!! Beds were very comfortable! Bathrooms were huge, towels were soft. We had a nice gas fire place in our room, that kept us toasty after roasting marshmallows. We are from Phoenix so we are HUGE wimps ;) Now, the staff was wonderful! Went we first checked in we had an issue with the TV (clearly we were just dumb). The guy came right down (seconds after calling) and fixed it!! They also gave is recommendations on where to get a good steak! It was perfect, quite, full of wildlife (saw about 5 deer across the creek, big score for my 8 year old!!) Great for families and couples!! We will stay there every time we come through!! read more

I booked this room last minute and wasn't sure what I was getting into. Our room is the family unit which is perfect for kids. My husband and I are able to have our own room with a huge wrap around deck overlooking the pool. The kids have their own TV and so do we. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Came here last week with a couple of old friends. One of us picked the place and at the end of the day we were all grateful to him for choosing the Silver Moon. It is such a cool and calm place perfect for that kind of event. We all loved it so much we made a pact to make it a yearly event, God's willing. It's so beautiful and so serene and there are lots of wonderful spots around to just chill and have a wonderful peaceful time. I like the outside spots and the fact that the room are super comfy even with twin beds which was just what we needed. The swimming pool with the pebbles is also nice. read more

The first night we get here it was awesome. The concierge was super kind and helpful (Friday night the 8th of May). He gave us tips on food, where to hike and even offered to start a fire for us. Day 2, not so much. The concierge was complete void of a personality. I asked him if we could have a second s'mores kit for our children and his reply was no, you only get one and I just made these ones, we ran out yesterday morning. I figure, okay rules are rules, I'll abide by them, they just opened up during covid-19, I'll give the the benefit of the doubt. However later that day I asked for 2 extra sugar and creamer packets for tomorrow. His response , I don't have any. Again I'll give the benefit of the doubt. But this dude has no business being the face of your business, unless he gets some hospitality training. We've been here a few times and totally love the place and the scenery. We'd come back but if this kid is here when we arrive, I'm leaving. Other than him this would have been a 5 star rating Update: we went back to the desk 40 minutes before they closed to ask him to light a fire so my kids could roast marshmallows. BEWARE. This hotel refused to give my girlfriend and I a refund on our room. We booked the room over a month in advance of our trip. Our drive was about 16 hours in total and when we were about 3 hours away in Colorado Springs, a blizzard set in and there was no more visibility of the road. Not only was it not safe to drive, they had closed all major roads at one point, and there were no routes available to get to Estes Park. I wish I would have got the name of the rude employee we spoke to on the phone about our situation. Not only did he refuse the refund, but he implied that we were lying to him about the road closures. He was extremely rude and explained that everything was fine and there were plenty of routes to get there, without any knowledge of where we were or how serious the blizzard was. We didn't even need to see the place! Horrible customer service is enough to ruin any hotel experience. read more

Friends were visiting from St. Paul Minnesota for a weekend, so I planned a Colorado staycation to show them around. Living in Loveland, CO, I'd never stayed overnight in Estes Park, and call me a chicken, but I won't stay at the Stanley Hotel overnight. I yelped hotels in Estes, and we decided to try the Silver Moon Inn. I'm glad we did! There were four of us, so we booked a 2 bedroom unit. We ended up with room 214, on the second floor, directly above the office - no neighbors below us, and I think neighbors only on one side, as there was a stairwell on one side of the room. Walking into the room, there is very small, tiled entry way, with a pass-through into the kitchen to allow in sunlight through the large glass entry door. The entry way is a great place for shoes, after walking around Estes Park. To the right of the entry way is the dining room, with a table for 6, a futon sofa that folks out to either a double or queen sleeper, and a small balcony. The view out this dining room window overlooks the front of the hotel, sure it's a view of the parking area, but it's also a beautiful view of the Fall River, the many areas along the river that the hotel has created for relaxing and being outdoors, Elkhorn Avenue (Estes Park's main street), mountains across the street, and a park to the east. To the left of the entry way is the living room with two large chairs, a couch, coffee table, end tables, and a credenza with the television on top. Between the dining room and the living room is a galley kitchen, very well appointed for a few nights stay, with dinner ware, glasses, cookware, an oven, full size refrigerator, microwave oven, and coffee maker. There are two bedrooms, which are located side-by-side, right off of the living room. The bedroom on the left had a queen size bed, and the room also contained a vanity and sink, which at first seemed odd, but made sense when all four of us began getting ready. The other bedroom had a king size bed. The unit has only one bathroom, which is somewhat small, with a single sink and a bathtub with shower. The hotel offered a free breakfast. Rather than eating the complimentary breakfast we opted to take advantage of the kitchen and brought breakfast foods with us, so that we could have a lazy morning and chill out. I was the first person awake, and so I went into the dining room to look out the window. It had snowed overnight, so there was just a dusting of snow on the ground. I also got to watch about 6 deer walking down the street, cross the main road, and then head up the mountain across the street. Estes Park is known for having elk wondering around, but these were definitely deer. We were all very happy with the room, and the hotel's close proximity to town allowed us to park and easily walk up and down the main street of Estes Park. I would definitely recommend Silver Moon Inn, as it has a great location, and the hotel was nice, plus free parking. Plus it was very relaxing to chill out in the living room, watch a little television, use the kitchen, and sit around and chat at the dining room table, with a view of the river and surrounding mountains. While room 214 could have easily slept more than up to 7 or 8 people, just keep in mind that there is only one bathroom, which could be annoying if everyone is getting ready to go at the same time. read more

Love the Silver Moon Inn. It's very different from a chain-type hotel, but it's quaint, clean, comfy and friendly. It's right along the Fall River, so you have a lovely little stream rushing right outside your door with trees, birds, flowers right at your doorstep. They have chairs, fire pits and a cute gazebo so you can sit and enjoy nature. The rooms are cozy and clean with lovely mountain decor and all the amenities including a gas fireplace and a little private porch. I have to mention that the staff are extremely nice and helpful. I recently had to extend my stay unexpectedly because a late spring snow closed the interstate. They very nicely let me stay two extra days in the same room, no hassle at all and very pleasant. Also, the location is perfect, even with the recent construction going on. It's in walking distance of the shops and restaurants, or it's not far to the detour, so everything's accessible. Can't say enough good things about the Silver Moon! I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Estes. read more

If you're ever caught in a winter storm, or a blizzard, and literally in a white out 3 hours away, don't expect silver moon to be even the least bit understanding. We had planned a night at silver moon on March 14, and were coming from New Mexico which is about 281 miles. Once we got to Colorado Springs, it was a disaster. My maps kept sending me notification after another of road closures on our route (still about 133 miles away), due to the winter storm/blizzard that even PLOWS could barely maneuver around due to severity of the visibility. It was pure white. No lanes, no highways to even get to. Me, and about 10 other cars that were unlucky enough to be on the same detour as us all pulled into hotels nearby to get a last minute reservation. First hotel was completely sold out due to how many people were literally forced to pull over. We managed to get one, and I called silver moon immediately to let them know we couldn't make it, and why. Almost instantaneously, the man (don't recall his name if he even gave it to me), pulled up a map and told me that basically I was lying because there was still at least one route still open. ONE ROUTE. 133 miles, in a blizzard, and he still refused to give me a refund because according to him, every guest should risk their lives driving in a white out 133 miles just to FIND AN OPEN HIGHWAY, to get to Silver Moon Inn. Oh, he also ended it by asking me which hotel exactly I was at so he could "use as a reference point", but it was obviously because he didn't believe me. Fantastic! So many nice touches and well thought out things. Very clean rooms. So cutely furnished. The walkway outside our room had table and chairs for outdoor seating. Walkway was super clean too. Wonderful and friendly staff. Free ice. Laundry room. River is RIGHT there with lots of seating. Smores in the afternoons and firepit supplies. Coffee and continental breakfast were SUPER. Room was quiet. Bed was comfy... not gigantic like in other hotels...but comfy. Sweet soaps and other things for the bathroom. Room for improvement: The hot water is BOILING! You could probably cook shrimp in your wash basin....or lose a couple layers of your kids skin in seconds if they bump the handle. The TV mount in the room could be simplified so you don't have to worry about ventilating your head every time you walk by/under it. Would highly recommend. read more

Also, gentle creek/river runs through property, lending a very relaxing atmosphere. 2. The young men at the desk were all very nice and helpful. The main office stocks all the fixings so that you can make your own smores on their raised fire pits outside. 4. Wildlife? A black bear visited my husband and I one night while we were on a wooden swing bench - safely 30 feet or so across the river. Looked at us and sauntered on his way in search of an unlocked trash can. We were steps away from the hotel, so we didn't feel unsafe. Also, this is hummingbird central! 5. Continental breakfast included. Nothing elaborate, but satisfying to start the day. 6. While I don't have young kids, they did have a nice swing set and pool which others were enjoying. 7. DVD player and movies (yes, including the Shining) available. I think they have games, as well, at the front desk. Note - if you are looking for a lap of luxury accommodation, you may be disappointed. The rooms are pretty straightforward and not fancy, but are clean. The bathroom in our room was nice. Rooms are outdoor access, and you walk up steps if you are on the second or third floor. If you are looking for something immediately on the doorstep of RMNP, this isn't for you, either - that's a short drive away. This is an in-/edge of town hotel that is surrounded by two parking lots and on the river walk. It isn't secluded if that's what you are looking for.
