I figured out why this place is on Railroad Ave. There's a $14 parking fee they don't tell you about online, you won't know this until your checking in. Never heard of this before? Feeling railroaded? You must go back to your car and put this bright pink parking pass on your dash or I guess they'll tow you. It's another $15-$16 for a continental breakfast in the morning. At least you can opt out and eat elsewhere. We only stopped here because it was getting late and we wanted to say we spent the night in Parachute, Co. But once you've stopped your mind says your tired, just stay. The room was clean and for an older place it was quite comfortable. Two queen sized beds that didn't bother the back and an excellent bath-which had a powerful shower. T.V. was nice and easy to operate even though the cable package sucked, you can't have it all. Besides, after driving for ten hours, nobody was awake to watch it. I bet you can figure this out. There was no fridge, but a freezer. Good thing we didn't put the insulin in there. Come morning, the leftover Jets pizza was not edible for at least an hour. The nice lady (Lori?) popped up a bag of corn, surprisingly at no charge and also had complimentary coffee pods. The Grand Vista Hotel in Parachute was exactly what we needed for our halfway stop during our camping trip. The staff was welcoming and went out of their way to make the kids feel special with treats and gifts. The pool was perfect for our daughter to burn off some energy after a long day in the car. read more

A cool hotel lodge in Parachute, not many options here for lodging but this independent hotel served my needs for my overnight trip through the area. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The bed fairly comfortable and the shower in the morning had plenty of hot water. Parking is convenient and also free, the further you go towards Denver they start charging to park and some of places down right expensive. We checked in and our initial room was dirty. The entire place has a funky smell. If we had known there were newer better maintained places to stay on the other side of the highway I could have booked over there. The fold out sofa had dirty linen. The carpet is strange and stained. The downstairs smells like stale beer and cigarettes more than it did the dogs that were allowed. Tried to cancel our stay at 8am two weeks ago and was denied. Customer service from manager was extremely poor. My booking stated that cancelation was final after check-in at 3pm, changed after talking to manager. Was going to be charged $15 a person for breakfast. Which is not stated on website. Pros: Was a quiet place to stay. AC worked great and beds were decent. Clean for the most part minus a couple burn holes in the comforter on one bed. Cons: Price WAS decent until you added the hidden fees. $14 for parking and breakfast is no longer complimentary, it costs $14.95 plus tax for adults and $8.95 plus tax for children 5-10. During a road trip around Colorado, we booked a night at the Grand Vista, thinking it would be a cheap bare bones place to sleep for a night. We ended up booking a second night after we found that the hotel was much better than we'd expected. The bed was extremely comfortable and the staff was very nice. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but we were pleasantly surprised to find them there. Our king room was spacious and clean. Lorrie, who runs the hotel restaurant, is awesome and she really stood out as an employee of the hotel. She does everything in there herself, including buying and providing free popcorn most evenings and a wide assortment of coffee, tea, cider, and hot chocolate pods for guests. Definitely stop into the restaurant for dinner one night. She even handmade the menus! I especially appreciated that Lorrie has gone out of her way to offer vegetarian and vegan options on her menu. We would most definitely stay at the Grand Vista again. read more

The are of town is very sketchy! We were never told that we would have to pay an EXTRA $14 to park in the parking lot that is not secure and is right across from an abandoned motel and a low grade trailer park. Also, we were told that breakfast was another $14/person~that would have been an ADDITIONAL $48 added to our bill, that we were not expecting. We had to ask twice for enough towels for showers. The room had two towels and one wash cloth. We had four women staying in our room and booked it that way. We will be watching the bill to find out if they charge us extra for the towel's because they took our room number and wrote it down when we got them. There are SEVERAL maintenance issues throughout the hotel. The pool room was warm so the door to the outside was propped open which I didn't appreciate since there were us four girls in the pool room. read more

But they don't tell you about the 12 dollar parking fee, or the fact that they charge you for powdered eggs and a mediocre breakfast in the morning. We've been coming here for years. All of the sudden there is a $14 overnight parking fee. Supposedly for security. Didn't see one security officer. They charge an additional $14 for breakfast. The new frontier airlines of hotel chains. Will not ever come back. They are having some issues with the air-conditioning in its and are currently replacing some of them and also they have harder than normal beds... Honestly, wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. Friendly employees, clean room. Decent breakfast. Within walking distance of a tiny coffee shop. Ample parking. Pet friendly. We had a room on the 1st floor, next to gym. Never heard any noises. It was great. My only real disappointment was the amount of poo in the grass areas. Not so much a knock on the hotel, more on the incredibly lazy pet owners, not cleaning up after their pets. It was ridiculous. This is the 1st pet friendly hotel, we've stayed at that did not have a trash can with bags attached to the bin pole. However, it is ultimately owners who need to clean up after their pets. read more

Had to travel from the super expensive and annoying Aspen (where I was working for 6 weeks) to find affordable lodging for the weekend. Parachute came up with this hotel and reviews. Super clean and accommodating! The gal at the front desk (Kristen) and the AWESOME gal at the hotel restaurant (Lorrie) wers amazing!! This is a really decent hotel. Granted, we just needed a place to sleep for one night on a road trip, but the room was nicer than the one we had just spent a week in on the Vegas Strip. We had a long-sized bed in a standard room. It's decently sized, has small sofa, chair, fridge, and full closet. The room and bathroom were very clean and have been kept up well. The bed was soft and I was so happy to have more than two pillows on the bed (1/person). The pool and hot tub are open until midnight. We didn't use them, but they look nice. This hotel double charged us for our room, effectively destroying our budget for our mini vacation. We stayed there July 17-20th and they charged us $640 instead of the $320 the room actually cost. Additionally, they did not return my husband's debit card stating it was "policy" to have a card on file and then they proceeded to "lose" the card, so we had to cancel it with the bank. The hotel manager wouldn't even come speak to us and hid in the back leaving a front desk worker to deal with the situation. No solution was offered for any of the trouble they caused. As for the facility itself, it is relatively clean, but as a wheelchair user I was not able to enjoy the pool because their lift was also broken. The staff keeps a running inventory of how many towels you use, so make sure you leave them all out so they can be counted when you leave. This hotel has despicable business practices and will unapologetically ruin your family vacation with nothing more than a shrug in response. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND MORE HIGHLY AGAINST THIS HOTEL. Don't stay here unless you want to get robbed. They also charged us $40 for a regular continental breakfast and cold eggs. They charge $12 a night for parking in their mostly empty lot. Absolutely terrible hotel, terrible policies and cowardly management. read more

Clean, beautiful, fantastic staff. Keryn checked us in and gave us 2 free drink tickets for the pub/restaurant which was nice. We woke up late for breakfast and the hostess was kind enough to still allow us to eat. Waffles, toast, cereal, eggs, and yogurt. Would definitely stay here again. We went back the next night and took care of us again and I really enjoyed her company she was very friendly and personal. She definitely goes above and beyond her duties. We were meant to stay here two nights, one on the way to Utah and one on the way back. We weren't sure how our son would travel so we thought it best to break it up over two days just in case. The cancellation policy is great, cancel before 1pm that day and it's no charge. And easy through Expedia. We were making great time and our son was doing well on the way there that we decided to push through all the way. On the way back, we had terrible weather, we thought we were going to make it back to Denver so we'd cancelled the accommodation again, only to find out that the I70 was closed in 3 spots so I called up and got our room back. That was no problem. The lady behind the desk was...nice but not overly friendly. Didn't give me the run down of what time breakfast was, that they even offered breakfast, tell me the cost of the room or point me in its general direction. Maybe because I'd booked on Expedia she thought I knew all these things but I hope she doesn't treat other travellers like that. The king suite room was nice and comfortable. High ceiling, spacious, mini fridge with a little freezer with no door and a microwave, nice bed. The small pillows on the bed are weird, Kleenex box in the bathroom was empty and no lotion. I could hear the person next door snoring and I felt like the other 15 cars in the parking lot all had rooms next to ours, which might be easy for the cleaners but not great for the guests. There are 3 floors, use them... Other reviewers had mentioned complimentary drink tickets which we were not privy to. Breakfast was just fine. The scrambled eggs were nice and they had toaster waffles. Other places might have a waffle machine but toaster waffles are quicker and a lot less messy. No high chairs, or if there was one the receptionist didn't have a key to the store room but she gladly took a chair cover off that we could strap the booster seat to. Only coffee and black tea for hot drinks, no herbal teas. It was pretty cheap to stay, so in a punch we might stay here again. read more

I wasn't expecting much but this hotel was amazing. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful. I found the room to be spacious and clean. They have a pub with multiple popcorn flavors. There is a Mexican restaurant within walking distance. Behind the hotel is an Exxon Mobil gas station that has a hot dog restaurant inside and a plethora of snacks. Finding this hotel last night was the first of our turn of bad luck. We had a long, hot, difficult weekend that seems to never end, streaked with nothing but bad luck. On the (hopefully) final stroke of bad luck, out radiator exploded on the highway. LUCKILY, we were right next to a gas station, and a hotel. This hotel! I set up our reservation and got checked in to get the kids into a comfy bed, as it was almost midnight. The staff that works here is so friendly and helpful, the room is comfy and clean, they had so many things available for us to use like the gym and the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was delicious! We only stayed 1 night here so I will do my best to describe what we did encounter and experience. The hotel is centrally located right off the highway and within walking distance of a few food locations as well as gas stations. There was adequate parking throughout the hotel, during the weekend, and left and returned multiple times. We had a room on the second floor and never heard a peep from any of our surrounding neighbors. The room was clean and comparable to a Hampton Inn. Our room had a strong musty smell with a damp humidity to it and the air conditioner did nothing for us but luckily the window in the room opened and cleared all of our air in and out nicely. We arrived later in the evening but were informed that the pool with jacuzzi was open until midnight. We utilized this option and had a nice time, the pool being fairly small and another guest blaring loud music but we didn't mind at all. The lobby was fancy and laid out well. I saw a bellhop cart in the parking lot, not sure if it was hotel personnel or a visitor utilizing but I know how handy the cart itself can be for those taking a lot inside. The room offered a microwave, mini fridge (a decent size) as well as a small coffee maker. I myself didn't go down for their free breakfast but my family did. They brought me a bagel and a pastry that tasted fine and they applauded the sausage. They were disappointed to find only frozen waffles and not a waffle maker but all in all it sounded like a nice array of choices. For the price and location this place was perfect and we will return! read more

The reason for my lower review is that there were a lot of people loitering outside the hotel which made me feel uncomfortable coming and going. Everything was clean, which is the most important part with hotels. However, everything was aging and it was obvious. The elevator was not sufficiently ventilated, causing me nausea and dizziness, and the appliances in the rooms were old. The breakfast was pretty disappointing, with all plastic utensils and styrofoam plates and bowls. Food selection was weak and the quality wasn't great. My wife and I had a horrible stay here on road trip last week, due to the terrible judgment of staff at this hotel, when they were confronted with an unreasonable request from another guest that affected us. After driving for 7 hours, we got checked in a little after midnight, parked on west side of parking lot, 3 spaces away from a small moving truck that was doubled parked sideways. Little did I know this would turn into a huge problem later. We got to bed around 1:30 AM and were snoozing away until around 8AM, at which time the phone on bed stand started ringing off the hook. We ignored the call and tried to go back to sleep for a bit before checkout. Unable to sleep I called the front desk to ask if I was mistakenly given a wakeup call. No that was not the case, Kieran, the lady at the desk explained. She stated that she had been contacted by the guest driving the moving truck, and that my car was "blocking" his ability to unload the moving truck as the moving truck was broken down and he was not able to unload because my normally parked car was in his way? Wow! Kieran went on to explain that this crazed guest had even requested that hotel staff come knock on our room door so we could move our car at the request of this other guest. She then explained that the owner of the moving truck had found another solution to unload his truck and that my car no longer needed "moved". Pretty cranky by now, we then went out to the parking lot to see what all the commotion was about and found that the owner of moving truck had quite easily towed the broken truck to the end of parking without interfering with our car, and was now unloading into new moving truck. We went back to front desk to complain to staff about being woken up at the request of some loco guest who was haphazardly parked 3 spaces away from me, while I was parked properly in a space. I demanded a refund, which they said they could not do, because it was booked on Hotel.com. Nice excuse. Staff that I dealt with that morning were indifferent. It's just insane and absurd that the desk staff were easily talked into disturbing guests, at the request of another guest, for something that was completely not our problem or fault. Not only was it poor customer service, it is also a security issue to contact other guests at the request of another guest and send them out to the parking lot, to who knows what. Im going to assume that staff just took this idiots guest word that I was somehow blocking his way and never even checked to see how far he was actually parked from our car. Anyhow as I said staff on duty that day were indifferent. They did not even offer to comp us breakfast for the trouble they caused. We were given contact information for manager Renya Lima and went on our way, and decided to deal with it when we got home. Contacted Renya today and tried to explain what had happened. Instead of listening she just started defending her staff, to the point that I felt that she was change what actually happened. I interrupted her a couple of times, and she claimed that I was being disrespectful, and actually hung up on me! Wow again! Owners of Grand Vista, if your reading this, know that your staff at this location offer 0 customer service, and just don't give a hoot whether your guests enjoy their stay and are able to rest.
