When calling to speak to Carlos, the owner, I was told he was not there. I showed up and he was there sitting down doing nothing. I am a handicapped individual and the owner called the cops on me for parking in the handicapped spot in front of the salon in the public lot. I park in the handicapped spot with my decal on my vehicle in front of this business... and what did the OWNER decide to do? call the cops on me for parking in a handicap claiming i was in fact NOT disabled. I showed the cop my registration for my handicapped decal confirming my disability along with my license and she kindly apologized stating the owner does this a lot. After confirming my paperwork she let me be on my way. Do not discriminate against who can and can't be handicapped... and coming from the OWNER THEMSELVES is embarrassing. The cop literally confronted me before i could even get into my vehicle and was being super loud. It was a white old American women. I visited Grande Hair Salon for the FIRST time this morning after having come across them via Yelp! I'd spent ALL week calling different salons, asking for a Saturday appointment (in time for Mother's Day) and of course, most places were already booked. Which is why I was SO (pleasantly) surprised that GHS was able to pencil me in for today. I mentioned to them that I had virgin hair, with no real style to it, and that I was looking to brighten up my look with some highlights & a new style. Being that it was my first time, I didn't have a stylist in mind, but once I mentioned to the receptionist that I wanted someone that really KNEW how to cut & style short (pixie-like) hair, she immediately recommended Gennaro. I walked into my appointment at 9:05 and there he was, waiting for me. I showed him my wish pics and he got to work right away. We hit it off right away & talked throughout my entire service. While under the dryer, he offered me coffee (which I accepted) and when he came back, he'd even brought me a bagel & cream cheese to go along with it. He styled my hair TO PERFECTION, and went above & beyond my "wish pic"! I am so incredibly happy to have trusted in him & can proudly say I have found my new hairdresser. On July 1, I got my nails done with one of the nail techs at Grande Hair Salon. I've gotten my acrylics done in the past (with a different salon) but never the way that this specific nail tech has done it before. After the application I noticed that they were a little bit loose but she assured me that it wasn't an issue. On the 16th of July, one of the nails fell off and on the 18th I decided to remove them all entirety. Once I stared the process I noticed that one of my nails on the right hand was almost entirely green. After taking all of them off, one on the left hand was green as well. I went to my doctor and she determined I had a bacterial infection caused by trapped moisture from the acrylics being improperly applied. I'm appalled at the service I received and will never be coming back. read more

Once I arrived to my appointment I was greeted by the receptionist and she introduced me to the stylist that was going to work on my hair, Luz. I spoke with Luz and showed her pictures of my hair inspiration. I did express that I was worried since it had been a while since I did my roots, and usually when you try to dye dark roots blonde it comes out brassy. Well, let me just say Luz worked some magic. So I found a perfect salon that I trust but it is so far and I wanted to find one closer to home and more affordable. I decided to give Grande Hair Salon a try. The hair cut was 30$ (without blow dry of course) which is super cheap and I needed one badly. Since I went in, I happened to ask how I could get my hair a certain color and how much it would cost, out of curiosity. Then I was told a price and I said I was not in there to spend over 300$ (about 350$ was the quote ) for a cut and some color. So the owner came back with a counter offer for around 260$ and I again said I did not need a blow dry since I was putting my hair up for work and all of that and he claimed to give me "free coloring" and make it a even 240$ for the services. I finally agreed to it, even though I did not completely want to. I showed the stylist what I was looking for and she recommended darkening my roots because I wanted straight across bangs. I had a balayage done a few months back, but that is not the photo I showed what I wanted. Again I am no hair stylist especially when it comes to terminology. So I said she was the professional and I would trust what she had said. So once the coloring was done and it came down to my hair cut, she completely rushed. I get it that if you have somewhere to go and all but I'm paying all that money and my appointment was at 2 pm so it was around 4/4:30, she didn't even wait for me to tip her she ran out the door. Which I didn't think anything at the time. So since I didn't get the blow dry I headed home and I noticed once it dried it was NOTHING I asked for. Pretty much it looked like my roots grew out and then blond. It looked trashy and seemed like I didn't know how to go to a salon. So the same day I messaged them on yelp and said I was completely unhappy. The bangs came out horrible! So luckily they were long enough to make them side bangs and when u put my hair up for work into a pony tail, it looked like maybe an inch extra on one part was longer, looked like a rat tail. Due to work I couldn't go back till the following week, where she attempted to fix it. It looks much better than it did but again looks nothing like the photos I showed. She told me well that means it's not a balayage, and I never specified for one, only time I brought up balayage was that I had one done somewhere else months before. I hate that stylists now a days are so ready to start chopping and start doing what they think rather than taking their time and LISTENING to what the client wants to pay for, too eager for the money. Plus they probably needed it now thanks to all of the construction. Don't get me wrong the stylist and everyone there was nice, but given me paying that much money to not get what I want, then having to go back to get it fixed it really shouldn't be like that at a salon that should know what they are doing. Again granted they fixed it for free, but now I have to wait for my hair to heal then go somewhere else to get what I actually asked for. I guess it is worth the extra money and extra drive to go to my favorite salon, because I have NEVER left unhappy from there. The stylist sat me down asked me questions took 30 mins to get what I wanted down right AND THEN started. No wonder the owner haggles, he has to to keep afloat. Today I had an appointment with a separate stylist and she had cancelled at the last minute for personal reasons. I was disappointed and decided to try and find another salon that would take me in last minute. I cannot express how happy I am with the results. Not only were they able to book me at the time I needed but, they really listened to my concerns. My stylist was Irene and she's just an all around awesome person! She did exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. I should add that the owner even came by to check out how things were going which was a very nice touch. I would definitely recommend and I'm going to book with Irene the next time I need a touch up :) What I had: went from very dark hair to bleached hair from a separate salon. They did not do what I wanted but could have been miscommunication. I wanted more of a rooty blonde balayage look. read more

First off, I want to state that my review is based solely on the OWNER of this salon. I did NOT get my hair done here (because of the owner.) Here's what happened: Saturday afternoon, I call this salon to see if they might be able to squeeze me into their schedule at the last minute. To my delight, the receptionist said Yes. She was very friendly & helpful and told me to come on in for a free consultation. I arrived at the salon around 3 p.m. and the cheerful receptionist introduced me to a very pleasant hair stylist by the name of Yanet. I inquired about different options such as Ombré and Balayage, but I was open to HER suggestions. I also stated that I was no longer looking to drop two to three hundred bucks at a salon (like I used to at SAMY Salon.) Yanet told me about their "Special" (which is also boldly printed on their front window) which included Partial Highlights, Cut, & Blow-dry for $99.00. I was interested in that one! Yanet told me to come back in an hour because she had another client. Perfect, because I wanted to go back home and take a shower, anyway. I live just a hop, skip, and a jump away. After going home and showering, I returned to the salon a little after 4 p.m. I informed the receptionist that I was back to get the "Special" and she led me to a chair where I ended up waiting quite a while until finally this extra big & tall man approached me and announced that he was the owner. He learned that I was getting the "Special" and he proceeded to tell me that the partial highlights would look ... and I quote ... "REALLY UGLY" on me. He noted that I had long hair and he told me ... and I quote ... "Your hair is almost the size of your whole body." (WHAT??!! Yes, I have long hair, to my mid-back.) Due to my "long hair," he would NOT honor the $99 price of their Special. He told me he'd have to charge me "A LOT MORE!" $175 + $55 (if I needed toner) = $230. I was almost speechless, as I was pretty shocked by this guy's tremendous LACK OF TACT, LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, and ARROGANT ATTITUDE, in addition to his REFUSAL to honor the Special that one of his hair stylists had suggested for me!!! I asked him WHY they advertise that Special on their front window if they have no intention of honoring it. He told me that the Special is ONLY for people with length of hair NOT past their shoulders. I asked him how come their sign does not say that. He tells me that they inform people of this AFTER they come inside for the special. (WHAT??!!) Then, with this incredibly smug tone, he says they can give me a CUT & BLOWDRY for $70.00, as if that was some killer deal. (NO, THANKS!) Although I was sort of desperate to get my hair done, and it was already almost 5 pm, I decided to leave Grande Salon and take my chances ELSEWHERE! I am a principle-oriented individual, and I could not bring myself to give my hard-earned money to a tactless, arrogant business owner like that!! UNBELIEVABLE! Awful experience with the OWNER!!! Came on a Wednesday to do roots and extensions. I explained in detail and hair stylist saw the color I was doing in my roots. As she started to apply I keep telling her that's NOT the color. The hair stylist continue to reassure me that the color changes and it will be correct. In the end the color was NOT the color! Then 6 days later after 1 wash the color completely fades, where at some areas you see the bleach and there's discoloration. I called on Saturday and was told be receptionists and hairstylist it was ok to come in late after 4pm to fix the color and fix the extensions that were falling off. Once I arrived at 4:45pm the place had the doors locked and was empty with only 2 employees helping other 2 customers. Summary I paid $300 for cheap hair color that faded in 1 week. I can't say anything about getting hair done here because I came to do my eyebrows. But I was really pleased! I stopped by here because I was having lunch in the plaza and realized that I desperately needed to get my eyebrows waxed. I stopped by without appointment, but they greeted me very nicely and happily accepted my walk-in request. They quickly took me to the back and soon after the young lady who does eyebrows (can't remember her name, but I'll update this review when I do!) appeared. Not only is she amazingly professional, but she is also SO SO SO TALENTED. Terrible experience with owner of this saloon . My wife comes to this saloon for a few years now for monthly hair cuts. . I go once a year . My niece and I wanted to get a hair cut and if the price was right do highlights . I informed Irene the hairstylist My mother in law just passed away and I was on a tight budget . She looked up my records and said last time I was there I paid $140 and if I didn't get the extra stuff to shine my hair she would charge me $95 and would even include a hair cut free. I was delighted and had her do my hair . My hair came out great . But when I went to pay my bill it was $185 . I went over to to Irene to correct the mistake and she told me I had to talk to the owner . So I did , thinking it was just a simple mistake in there part and he would correct it. Instead he told me that it was $185 because of the hair cut , color they put in my hair . I explain I did the same thing as last time minus the shine chemicals and Irene said my bill was gonna be $95. He started debating with my niece what hair color cost . He was very unprofessional , rude and care nothing of customer service . Irene came over and said out loud to charge me the $95 and she would pay for the rest . He told her no . He didn't want to honor her price . My niece and I were already devastated about the death in our family and didn't want to argue . I've never been a "go someplace fancy" for a haircut, but I was given an appointment with Lizzie as a bday present (that's who does the wife's hair). That was months ago and now I make an hour drive without Miami traffic to see her. The rest of the employees at the salon are very friendly as well. I don't feel out of place as a guy there either. I love this salon because it is close to my house and I always feel welcome when I walk in. The prices are pretty reasonable for a salon now a days. Granted, I've only used a couple of the services there like the waxing and the cuts but I have no complaints. A hair cut goes for $25 - girls, you know this is a great price - and the quality of the cut is very high. Just make sure you ask for Lizzie to cut your hair... she is the best hairstylist and the sweetest person ever! Not only because we share a name but she is good people!
