The playground along the eastern edge of Summit Park was very popular with the kids, There are135 acres (!) of greenspace, a fish-stocked (!) catch-and-release pond, and more climbers and such for older kids. The walkers and dog-owners among us liked the long network of paved paths and the dog-park area. There's a central open space apparently for concerts and such. I admit, i spent most of my time watching from outside the kids' playground, and listening to a band over the covered walkway next to the taco place, with a relaxing beverage from the nearby bar :-). Sometimes it's nice not to be in charge. None of us braved the cool-looking 9-level 153-foot observation tower because the we site said that the elevators were closed at the time. They say you can see downtown! There is also a slippery splash and play "water course" to explore which was closed, too, during our visit. They say there's ice skating in the winter. The whole experience worked for us because of the nice restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops along the north and east edges of the park. We ate twice with different groups at the Mexican taco place, and three times at the park-themed restaurant. We had coffee and drinks from the cafe / bar / bottle-store. We got ice cream twice! We didnt make it to the bakery or the diner, or the chic nail salon which could have been nice for some me-time :-).

This one's great! You enter the lot and park your car in Ohio but the store stands in Indiana. Cool. It is huge warehouse sized building with all things loud, colorful and explosive, running the gauntlet from kiddie sparklers and snake pellets to giant mortar shells. There were a good number of employees on the floor to answer questions and help you find what you're seeking. Checkout counters were numerous and efficient, and you get to choose some freebies based on how much you spend. I was interested to learn they actually sell mostly their own brands. And the merchandise is top quality, we really enjoyed them on Fourth of July. I was a little sad they didn't carry the Black Cat brand, because as all us fireworks fanatics know, Black Cat is The Best You Can Get. Open all year long!

It's perfect for getting together with friends, with multiple gathering areas and even rentable spaces. I've seen people taking engagement photos here, hosting weddings, and I even did my own graduation pictures here. It really is such a beautiful setting for special moments. One thing that always surprises me is how big it is. There are genuine hiking trails that wind through the woods, which is amazing for a park so close to the city. It's also great for birding, and I often see people playing frisbee, walking their dogs, or just enjoying a peaceful walk. The native plants and flowers are so well maintained, and there are so many little tucked away spots where you can sit with friends or a partner and enjoy a quiet, private moment. It's an absolutely beautiful park in a great area, and I can't recommend it enough.

Fireworks were last nite - which was a GREAT SHOwJust awesome. We hung out in the big tent and listened to The Milos, an alternative folk group. The music was great! It was cloudy but hot. Lots going on again this year there's a food truck alley but it mights as well be masses of people trying to get to the food trucks in the alley kinda thing. All good though for a great holiday. They have pictures of what the item looks like your buying. They publish how long each cake last and they publish how high the fireworks fly. Can't beat this! Nearly no other store does this. On top of those important things they carry RGS fireworks which is my favorite. This includes Black Widows! I'd drive out of my way to get here. A+

Also plenty of screamers, but also lots of quieter, pretty stuff so you can spare doggie ears over the weekend. Could use a few night sample photos of fountains and such, which is the stand out thing others do have.
