This teamwork also stretches outside of the classroom, with Master Cooley asking if there is anything that he can help address while the student is in class time. Testing The testings are done as a group by belt rank. When it has come time to break the boards, if there is a student(s) who are struggling to achieve it in the initial round, there is a rising positive support by the classmates, along with the audience towards the student. Class Schedule Many different time slots are available to increase the opportunities for students to make it to at least 2 classes a week (2-3 per week are recommended). Overall, I would recommend KTA if one is looking for a solid place to attend if interested in the Taekwondo branch of martial arts.

There are typically 5 instructors for a class of 15 students so the student/teacher ratio is outstanding. Aside from defensive and combative techniques taught, my kids are grasping the concepts of eye focus, brain focus, and body focus and are expected to pain attention and follow instructions, which has always been an uphill battle for me. That said, it IS costly (but well worth it for us) and the time commitment is not necessarily conducive for most. But still, if it is a commitment that works for your family, I would highly recommend Master Yoo's.

They are incredibly attentive, patient, encouraging, and supportive of all the students. During COVID, they were one of the first Fishers establishments that put into place safety measures for all students and staff. They go above and beyond to keep parents regularly informed, and enforce safety protocols. Our boys have excelled not only in Taekwondo, but in their own confidence, attention and self awareness. Sensei Ken Piper quickly accommodated us and spent an hour with us describing the program and costs, and then provided a demo lesson to show our son what would be expected during a class. Our son loved it so much we signed him (and his older brother) up. Both have been attending for nearly a year now and are now orange belts. We appreciate that not only are they learning various forms of karate (basics, sparring, kata), but they are also learning self-discipline and respect. They have taken the lessons from the dojo to their classroom and home. Pricing is very affordable, especially for parents considering joining along with their children. Packages are available from 1 lesson a week to unlimited classes. Special add-on lessons (weapons and seminars) are also available. The schedule is very convenient with evening and Saturday classes. Beginners can move through their first few belts within their first year which is encouraging. The Senseis are very patient with all ages and abilities, and a typical class usually has a diverse group of 10-15 students ages 7 years old to 50. Safety and hygiene are also emphasized, especially mid-pandemic. The facility is good and there is plenty of space for classes and overflow seating for spectators. The studio recently remodeled their waiting area. The studio's goal is for every student to reach Black Belt within a few years, so we hope to stay that long!
