Anyone rating this hotel 5 stars has to be working for the hotel. This place has had bedbugs since 2019. I just stayed in the hotel sept 6th and my legs had over 10 bites on them. Some had just reported a month before they had bedbug issues. When I looked behind the bed and under the mattress pad, what I found was disgusting. A solid budget hotel in Appleton. It's super well located, right off 41 and College Avenue, and right next to the Fox River Mall. There's no restaurant on site, but there's plenty nearby. Lots of parking. In the morning, there's an included breakfast bar that is billed as "delicious" on the hotel sign. Well - not really. The morning I had it, I went for scrambled eggs and sausage - the eggs were tasteless, while the sausage was beyond salty. The coffee was okay, but that's as far as it goes. Fortunately, there's a Starbucks and a Perkins about five minutes in either direction. We stayed on a ground floor room, which was nicely kept and reasonably up to date, if somewhat generic. The biggest gripe we had is that the soundproofing is inadequate - there was a sporting event of some sort in town the first night and we heard every footstep and door slam. Teenagers slam doors a lot. The staff were nice and helped us out with everything we needed. read more

Not a true five star hotel but great bang for the buck, super clean and pleasant with very helpful and friendly staff. Monica (I hope I remember her name right) checked me in and made feel comfortable and welcome. Most comfortable bed in recent hotel memory, room was toasty in single digit weather, shower was hot and strong, awesome free breakfast- just a nice place all around. Only thing one could nitpick is that rooms/furniture show some wear from age - but cleanliness more than makes up for that. My stay was for three days and I will definitely stay here again. With $2 wine at happy hour- how can I not give this place 5 stars! Highly recommended! read more

This was a pleasant stay. Yes things could have been better.....our TV cable connection was weird and kept pixelating the images on screen. Bed was comfortable, and I loved the sitting chair with ottoman and side light. I am a knitters and reader, and that little chair spot was perfect. THE SHOWER! That was a great experience. I'm so used to hotel showers being so weak that you fear you won't get the soap out of your hair...EVER. Not here! Water pressure is strong and hits you hard. Bet this hotel was then bomb before all others showed up! It's still nice but I was looking forward to doing a load of laundry. Nope NOT here. Hence the 4 star rating. Next time I shall look ahead. Not common to have no machines for patrons. The room was a nice double. Furniture a bit dated but comfy. They had Spectrum TV which was kinda nice. Had on demand! Watched old Rifleman series of shows. Nice!!! Bed comfy for both of us. Plenty of chairs in the room with desk too. The bathroom was small so one person at a time. Shower was very narrow lol. Had to stand sideways to wash up. Plenty of to and towels. We were on the second floor and potty backed up and shower next day. Wondered if the kids that were running upstairs threw something down the toilet or something. We did get a plunger and that worked. Breakfast was ok. Had everything what u needed including meat. Great hotel. I had a great stay on 2nd floor. Good breakfast. Coffee , Hot Water, and tea available 24hrs. There is a chinese Buffy near by outside. Walking 0.4 mile to Fox River Mall. Will stay here again if I happen need a place to stay in appleton, WI. read more

I have to completely disagree with Karen who reviewed this past April. We were traveling in the area and found it on the net. We got a AAA rate of $83 for a king suite, a very reasonable price. I don't mind not having real glasses and mugs in exchange for a place that can control costs and in exchange offer reasonable rates. Our vending machine worked, the exercise room was very nice, the bath amenities were just fine, the pillows were comfortable. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone. But, this location has a staff that goes out of their way to be polite, courteous, friendly and very helpful. I will certainly return here again. read more

I was less impressed than other reviewers here. First off, a little context, the GrandStay is a $90 hotel in a town with dozens of $50 hotels. The only other hotels in the $90 range are the Copperleaf (nice boutique hotel, worth the money) and the Radisson (a dump). So, back to the GrandStay. On the plus side, convenient to the airport, shopping, and a strip of okay chain restaurants. Rooms are big, with a frige and microwave, and the free hot breakfast is a nice bonus. That being said, they miss in a lot of small ways that would be soooo easy to fix: - Real coffee mugs and glasses in the rooms (and better coffee) - Working vending machines - the one on my floor was broken - Working exercise equipment - Higher grade bath amenities - Better pillows. There were a ton on my bed, which was great, but every one of them was lumpy and way too soft for me - Room service from the Machine Shed down the street. I'd take Bennigans over that place For $90 in this area, I expect a little more. I've given the GrandStay three tries, I think I'll go back to the Copperleaf. read more

Creepy young man working the front desk, his cell phone texting was far more important than checking me in. When he finally put the cell phone down he was annoyed he had to actually work and check me in. The price for this hotel makes it most unbeatable. Also, free parking (which can't be said of every hotel nearby). The pool is very small, and the hottub very hot, but they exist. The workout room is small, just a treadmill and a bike, so there's some room for improvement. The room as quite large. I have two complaints. 1. The bed was very uncomfortable. Clearly the mattress was quite old, because there was a distinct body indent that I found uncomfortable. 2. The breakfast was bad. Nothing healthy, except a few very sad and bruised apples and oranges. We went out for breakfast one morning, but there are slim slim pickings on this side of the Appleton area. Overall I would likely stay again if I were to need to stay in Appleton, because the price was good. Also, the staff was very friendly. The facilties, like the breakfast area, were very clean. Great experience at the hotel. Stayed here for 2 nights. The check-in was easy. The room was a good size with a microwave and mini-fridge. The internet worked well. Also their business center was very useful, the internet worked and was equipped with a copier and a printer free of charge. The best thing was the breakfast! The breakfast was more than expected. There was cereal, waffle maker, coffee selection, tea selection, muffins, fruit, tater tots and scrambled eggs. Also the location was manageable close to the airport and green bay. read more

Checked into this hotel after a bad night at the Marriott Farirfield Inn. The staff was great and very friendly. The room was very nice, they had a hot tub and a pool plus a good breakfast. Had problems with internet and TV but we were received free in room movies as compensation. I would stay here again, next time we are in the area. Close to the Mall and many restaurants. read more

My party of 3 stayed here overnight, to escape the winter storms. We were a bit upset to see that the hot tub wasn't working. We went up to our room to find that our TV wasn't working as well. Our shampoo bottle was also only half full. The hallway reeked of pot. It was a cheap place to stay, but fell short of the low expectations we had to begin with given the price. read more

I tried to be open minded when I was standing in line to check in and the two customers before me angrily canceled their reservations while checking in but I quickly found out this establishment has poor customer service and tries to tack on extra fees without warning. They DO NOT care if they have you as a customer or not. They DO NOT value your business. I too canceled my reservation upon check in for the bait and switch process they apparently have. I love the warm welcome when I walk into the doors! Everyone on staff is always smiling, and willing to help. I had nowhere to eat for dinner on the 3 nights I stayed, and the desk clerk gave me a wonderful recommendation every night! Parking is free which is nice I've stayed downtown, and it's 2$ every time I want to park! That's shopping money! Which brings me to my next point, the mall is so close! Breakfast was Delicious, waffles, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and again people...It's FREE! The pool is quaint for cooling off after a nice long sit in the over sized hot tub. Going to bed is a dream in the big King bed with all those pillows! I felt like royalty here! I will be back! read more

There are NO negatives about this hotel. The Q's have traveled often and to Europe many times and this is one of the better ones. Mrs. Q really like the spacious room which was very modern and so clean. The rooms have a wall thermostat, frig. microwave, free WiFi, the bath had a heat lamp should you be there in winter and has just about anything you can think of to make your stay pleasant, including homemade cookies at the front desk. The "Free Breakfast" was awesome - cold and hot breakfast items, scrambled eggs and hard boiled. Sausages or bacon, tasty smaller hash browns, cereal, make your own waffles, all types of tea, coffee, juices, fresh fruits. They have a "Bar" with small bottles of wine, beer, hard liquor and mixes to make your own drink that you can purchase. However, the Q's brought their own bottle of wine and opener. Mrs. Q says: They have a heated indoor pool and spa/whirlpool - what can be better than that? The people who work there are extremely helpful and so pleasant and happy to be working there and the prices are reasonable. Broken window during 1st stay. Reported to front desk on departure. 2nd stay, shuttle service does not start till 7am. That should be adjusted to start at either 5 or 6am for guests that need to get to their destination before 7am. And on top of it, shuttle is not courtesy. They charge $5.25. Came here for a weekend getaway. The hotel is very clean. The breakfast is nothing special. The rooms could use a second comfy chair and the TV be wall mounted so that its higher. The beds are very stiff. The pool is tiny and you can't swim in it. Little kids can play in it but that's about it. The hot tub is really hot and very relaxing! Workout area is tiny with only a few cardio machines and one sort of weight lifting machine. The mall is very close and there are many great restaurants near by. The staff are all friendly and I would stay here again. read more

Check in was easy the rooms were clean and of nice size. I had no problems with WIFI However I only had my phone on me as I did not bring my computer. The complimentary breakfast was spot on with eggs pastries toast potatoes alternating days of sausage and bacon and the best part the waffle maker. everyone was super friendly and I experienced zero problems during my stay. Also there is a mall right there which is convenient if you are looking for something to do. If I ever go back to Green Bay for another game at Lambeau I would make it a point to stay at this hotel read more

I stayed at this hotel at the spur of the moment last year when a friend of mine and I were just on a little road trip. We stopped in and asked if there were any rooms available and the desk gal was very friendly and offered up a couple options. Upon first impression we were floored by the gorgeous decor and incredibly friendly staff. Once we got to our room we unpacked our few things and sat on the bed - we felt like we were lying on a bed of clouds!! It was also very clean and it was designed so that the room didn't feel stuffy. Our day was eventful so we decided to go to sleep early. To this day I have NEVER slept on a more comfortable bed in my life!! For Christmas last year I asked for a 2 night stay AT GRANDSTAY so that I could have a whole day JUST to sleep in those amazing beds with the incredible comforters etc!! I got my wish!! Most hotels give you the standard 2 pillows and run of the mill sheets etc. I can go on and on about how these beds are the most incredible luscious pieces of heaven ever!! Everything else about the hotel was great, the pool was nice. Hot tub was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious. In all I would recommend this hotel to anyone and EVERYONE!! Especially if you are looking to getaway, do some shopping around Appleton/Green Bay and want to get a great nights sleep!! :) My favorite hotel by far!! read more

The Grandstay Hotel in Apple Valley, MN was a pleasant stay this past weekend. The staff are wonderful. I could always find someone and they were exceptionally helpful. I love the location. There are a lot of fast food, coffee shop and restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are roomy with a nice kitchenette that has a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, plates, and silverware. The beds are especially comfortable. The bathrooms are roomy also and the shower pressure was fabulous. My room was pretty clean though I think the carpets in the rooms and hallway carpets need a good steam cleaning. I did like the fact that they had a mandatory "Mask" policy. If you are a smoker there is an area outside were you can smoke as most hotel have but not all. The breakfast was very minimal due to the Covid-19 so we found a wonderful place two blocks over called "All day Breakfast". You could tell that a lot of cleaning was being done due to the smell of cleaners. That was okay in my book because of the virus. I also always have a big concern regarding bed bugs in hotels. I just happen to see a lady with the bed bug dog. Thank you Grandstay for that. All around everything was okay for me along with the price. If I need to return to the Apple Valley again I would stay at the Grandstay. read more

Accommodations are satisfactory, and the hotel is inviting. What I enjoyed most after a long day of travelling and meetings was the warm, friendly, engaging staff. Both Alyssa and Tiffany were freindly and welcoming from the time I walked through the front doors and checked in. They have the right attitude to make guests feel like they are welcome, and not as if they were doing you a favor. Room 1: huge room, furniture missing. No easy chair (as in the picture). 1 end table. 1 serving of coffee for 2 people. Moved to room 2: same problem. Room 3: still only 1 end table and 1 coffee serving. It was after midnight. Tired of moving from room to room. Went to front desk for more servings of coffee. End table from room with broken recliner moved to beside the bed. Important for 2 end tables as we both have CPAP machines. Said that in the reservation. Space between bed and wall less than 18 inches. Air conditioner/heater shot everything up the drapes to the ceiling. Drapes didn't close all the way. Could feel the cold from outside (overnight lows in the 30s)TV remote didn't work in room 3. Got that fixed morning 1. TV was on low stand. My toes blocked 1/2 the picture. When tv was turned on, the default volume setting could have been heard in Green Bay, some 30 minutes away. They couldn't fix that. 1st morning toiled plugged. Hot breakfast (eggs, potatoes, sausages, bacon) was cold every day. Not much variety from day to day. Cranky woman did cooking every day despite our cheery good morning every morning for 7 days. Room service: she kept taking the once used soap and shampoos every day. On day 3 we told front desk to just have her leave clean towels and 2 coffees. Leave everything else alone. Bed felt like a piece of concrete with a sheet on it. We gathered the hotel had recently been sold and they were remodeling. They must have started with the upper floors. You can do better. We wished we had. Everything sold out because of Packer home game. read more

Horrible housekeeping staff!!! Was at our door at 845 am asking if were leaving. Asked us again in the hallway 20 minutes later if we were checking out. Paid $160 for the night. The room was gross. Huge stains on the carpeting. Front desk offered a half punched rewards cards for the I convince. Never again will I stay here. Manager sent me an email stating I had to contact her about. I am from Upper Michigan & every time I come into town this is the hotel I stay in! Great service! Very friendly staff and very quick check in. Affordable rates as well. The new saline pool & hot tub is very nice & relaxing. Breakfast in the morning is fresh along with very fresh coffee. Right across the street there is a nail salon along with a few consignment shops if you have some free time. Will definitely be coming back! read more
