What a marvelous bed and breakfast! We loved our suite and the ambience at Roost. We stayed in the Bella suite and had breakfast delivered so we could lounge in the mornings. It was hot and very tasty. The owner wasn't there, but Megan did a great job of filling in. Everything about the room was perfect. The closet had a fridge and Kuerig with not just coffee! (Thank you as I love hot cocoa), the king bed was comfy and luxurious. It had a cute reading nook but the bathroom was spectacular. If I ever build a house this would be what I would add. The suite was well stocked with bubble bath, candles, nice towels and the comfiest robes. Bonus for Halloween candy! I would recommend this to anyone. We can't wait to come back. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Roost Bed & Breakfast on our recent visit to Wisconsin. To say we were pleased is an understatement--this was by far the best stay I've ever had in any hotel/inn, anywhere. We stayed in the Hunt Suite, which was beautifully appointed. We had all of the comforts of home: a fireplace, a fridge, a gigantic bed, a large en-suite bathroom, and a huge jacuzzi bathtub (big enough for the two of us to enjoy together!). Breakfast was served at our requested time and we enjoyed it both in our room an in the dining room with other guests, depending on the day. De Ann is an absolutely fantastic cook; her breakfasts aren't to be missed. While we didn't spend much time in it, there is a lovely back garden with a screened in gazebo, a bubbling fountain, and yard games for your enjoyment. The Roost is conveniently located close to Neenah, downtown Appleton, and about 30 minutes south of Green Bay. There's even a lovely house dog, Zada, who was very excited to greet us and give us all the kisses we could ask for. We will most certainly be back and are recommending Roost Bed & Breakfast to every single person we've met, both in Wisconsin and elsewhere. If you're thinking about visiting, please do--it is absolutely incredible and a 5 star experience! read more

Just got back from a one night stay to celebrate our anniversary. What an amazing bed and breakfast! My wife and I have stayed at many b&B's and this one ranks up there as one of the best we have ever stayed at. The room (Hunt Suite) was beautiful with a gas fireplace, large jacuzzi tub, beautiful, soft queen sized bed and a large bathroom with walk in shower. All the amenities are high quality. The room did have a TV with cable access and a DVD player, but we didnt make use of that for this trip. We'd rather enjoy the fireplace. Breakfast was a wonderful affair, starting with fruit and yogurt, with the main course being a great baked french toast with scrambled eggs. Not the most ambitious b&b breakfast we have ever had but really, really tasty and well made. The host, herself was great. Very personable and easy to talk to and seemed to genuinely care about each and every guest. If you find yourself in the Appleton area, I cant recommend this place enough. It may not be inexpensive to stay here but it is definitely worth every penny! read more

This place is a hidden gem! The rooms were very nice and spacious. The owner, De Ann, was very friendly and took the time to show us the room features. Breakfast was AMAZING and very filling. I love that there were different options to take breakfast (delivered, small table or sharing the larger table with other guests). The location is perfect - close to downtown and the highway, but in a residential area that is very quiet. Will be coming back on our next trip to Appleton! read more

Failed to Meet Expectations First, the positives: 1) De Ann, the owner/innkeeper is a very nice person; and 2) The breakfasts were fantastic. Unfortunately, the negatives were many and greatly outweighed the positives... On the Expedia listing, it states "Breakfast included," "Free Breakfast," and "Free full breakfast."  Despite all that, De Ann added an extra charge, stating via text:  "due to the significantly reduced rate through Expedia."  If breakfast is not included in the price on Expedia, that should be clearly stated on Expedia. On the Expedia listing, it states "Pets not allowed."  In all of our previous reservations, this has meant that there were no animals on the premises and the environment was allergy-free.  During our stay, there was a delivery on the stoop that appeared to be for a pet,  I experienced allergy symptoms only while at The Roost, a barking dog could be heard in the building, and a dog ran up the stairs as we were leaving.  If animals are present, it should be clearly stated so that people with severe allergies (like me) will know in advance. We were never able to connect to the main wi-fi, but we were able to connect to the alternate wi-fi.  The signal was weak and inconsistent, often times disconnecting. We eventually disconnected and resorted to using our cellular service. The bathroom in the Meadow Suite is in need of attention.  The fan and the shower light did not work, there is mold on the shower curtain, and the toilet refills for a few seconds every hour or so. Since The Roost is serving food, it seems reasonable to assume that safe food-handling practices (washing hands often, wearing gloves, wearing hair nets, etc.) are being followed.  Discovering a long, red hair in one of the soufflés the first morning would seem to indicate otherwise.  Note:  De Ann's hair is this length and color. On the Expedia listing, it states "Protective shields in place at main contact areas," but none were evident.  It also states that "Masks are required at the property." Despite both of us wearing masks as we were taking our belongings to our vehicle and during the check-out process, De Ann remained maskless the entire time. Our three primary expectations when making a reservation for The Roost were the free breakfast, the pet-free (allergy-free) environment, and the policy that masks were required.  Had we known none of those expectations would be met, we would never have made the reservation. read more

We had a marvelous experience! We traveled to Appleton for a wedding and stayed three nights. We are very happy we stayed at The Roost bed and breakfast. It is situated in a residential neighborhood. The rooms are clean and elegantly decorated. The hot breakfast is fantastic and definitely worth the small additional cost. We highly recommend The Roost! read more

This exceeded my expectations by a lot. I don't expect much in the Fox Valley region. This place is extremely comfortable, charming, beautiful, clean, and the owner is very professional. It is also priced very reasonable. I came up here for a football game, and I'm glad this is where I decided to stay. Also, the owner does acknowledge and accommodate food allergies with the meals. That is also not something I expected in northern Wisconsin. It's a truly delightful place and I definitely recommend it. read more

My husband and I were the lucky reciepents of a gift certificate to stay at The Roost. I booked the Sage Suite. We had never stayed at a B&B prior to this, but we will definitely consider a B&B in the future due to our positive experience at The Roost. We were greeted with delicious sweet treats in our suite. There was a binder full of helpful information which helped us select a restaurant to dine at for the evening. Breakfast in the morning, at 9:00, was delicous and plentiful. (Baked french toast, scrambled eggs, fruit, bacon, juice and/or coffee) We didn't need to eat again until about 3:00. My only regret is that we had such a late arrival and didn't get to enjoy The Roost as much as I would have liked. We would definitely stay there again! read more

We stayed here the night before a Packer game. On check in we were greeted and offered a beer or glass of wine. The Bella Suite is great, very spacious with nice amenities. Breakfast in the morning was very good; we had omelettes,a cinnamon oatmeal apple bake and yogurt with fruit delivered to the room. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again. read more

This place was such a treat. We were personally greeted at the door and offered a fantastic assortment of beverages. We decided on the generous serving of a very nice red wine. We were given a tour of the home and taken to our room, and when we realized we forgot a couple of items (corkscrew, plates, napkins, etc.) it was great to have a fully stocked kitchen (and host) with supplies that helped us out. We had a very peaceful night and morning to relax and unwind and reconnect! The breakfast was extremely generous and tasted wonderful. We look forward to many future visits! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Roost during EAA week (2018). We stayed in the Sage suite & loved it! The accommodations at the Roost were amazing. What a beautiful property and room. Our room was decorated so nicely, and had a delightful gas fireplace. I highly recommend staying for the breakfast. Thank-you again for sharing your wonderful property with us. De Ann was an incredible host. The place was extremely clean and her communication was great. I was traveling for work and got in after my concert. She made it easy for me to check in and get settled. She prepared an incredible breakfast and I ate it in a room playing peaceful classical music while birds chirped outside. Unreal! read more

The Roost is a great location in downtown Appleton. The rooms are all extremely nice, and the entire property is beautiful. My husband and I stayed in the Tapestry Room for a birthday getaway. The host greeted us with wine and cupcakes from a local bakery. What a great touch! Our room was very clean and cozy. The jacuzzi was so relaxing. Breakfast was fantastic and plenty of food. One update that would be nice is a flat panel TV. The library of DVDs was also nice.
