This vineyard was really our favorite one we visited while up in Lancaster. The dry reds were perfect and we decided to buy the Nortified and the Cab Sauv. Nortified is really strong and has some bourbon to it. Good for a cold day to warm up your bones. Ken did our tasting and shared with us about the wines. He knows his stuff, and he was even able to tell us about some the vineyards we visit down in Northern VA. The vineyard is small on the inside but has a huge deck and great views of the grapes and farm land. For those that don't like wine there is also local beer on tap. Other than the hostess, all the staff had an attitude. There was nothing posted that they were not doing tours so we asked.. they were annoyed that we did. We were told that we could do a tasting on the deck..you can't, they were annoyed we asked. The wine tasted like Welch's Grape Juice with an alcohol content. Surprisingly good wine in an inviting space, The Vineyard at Grandview will offer an unpretentious experience without sacrificing quality. The Vineyard at Grandview walks that fine line between being accessible to casual wine drinkers yet still offering some quality wines for avid wine drinkers. Beware wine drinkers if you're coming in the middle of an afternoon on a weekend - we walked in on a wine trail event, and the place was packed with people (service was slow as a result). The flexibility of the operation is key to their success, as you'll find a serious wine tasting list along with a chocolate wine shot, if you're into that sort of thing. And the view from the patio lives up to its name. The winery runs the gamut of wines, from dry to semi-sweet to sweet and white to red. I stayed with the dry wines, starting with the 2015 Gruner Vetliner, with a crisp spice flavor that's refreshing, and the 2015 Riesling, with more of a fruity tart flavor. The reds also showed signs of superior craftsmanship. The 2014 Cabernet Franc isn't quite as full-bodied as I like, but still delivered on the red fruit and a hint of spice/pepper. I enjoyed the 2015 Merlot much better, with more body and dark cherry/mocha flavors. The 2014 Norton is a darker wine offering more flavors of raspberries and lighter body. If you love big bold reds, you can shell out the $42 for the 2013 Grand Rouge, their flagship estate wine, is a blended red with those classic flavors of cherries, leather, and oak. In sum, Grandview is one of the better Pennsylvania wineries in the area, and is worth a visit. Whether it be to sample the superb wine or to drink a sweet red out of a chocolate shot glass at trail event, there's enough variety for everyone. read more

This is what a winery experience should be. Gorgeous views, knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of wine.

About 5-6 years ago this winery was delivering some stellar red and white dry wines. We even cellared a few bottles from 2018 and did not open them until 2021. We loved how beautifully the wines aged. Unfortunately, something has changed in the wine production. Now especially the reds, taste filtered or for lack of a better term, watered down. Yesterday we tasted the Estate wines. There was no body to the wine. Both the reds and the whites had a similar and unpleasant finish. Whatever was causing this finish was also quite apparent on the nose. I realize that wines are reflective of the terroir of the region wherein the grapes are grown and I am also familiar with how this imparts unique, pleasant characteristics to wine. Not in this case. There was nothing to balance the tannins in the oaked red wines as the fruit was very muted on the nose and palate. No complexity, no pleasant mouthfeel. We have tasted and continue to taste quite a few PA wines. Some wineries are indeed like a fine wine and improve with age. Unfortunately, this is not currently the case with Grandview. The tasting room, deck and property are very nice, so it is unfortunate that the wines do not deliver. read more

My boyfriend was out in lancaster for work so I spent the day by myself checking out local wineries. I spent almost 4 hours at this vineyard by myself. The wine was incredible and the service was even better. I'm a dry red girl and grandview definitely did not disappoint. Big, big fan of The Vineyard at Grandview. They often have live music during the winter months in their tasting room and every Friday on the lawn during the summer. Having a vineyard only a few miles from my house might be dangerous :) They seem to specialize in sweet wines. I really enjoyed their Sapphire White and Blushing Ambrosia wines. We visited Grandview Vineyard today and I had a very bad experience. The property was nice. However, while I was in the nice all-genders one-person restroom (which was fine), I found myself thrown into total darkness. I wrongly assumed that there was a power failure. When the lights went off, I was involved in something requiring a careful aim, and then surprised by total darkness. And the lights stayed off while I waited for them to come back on. I finally decided to "button up" in the dark and find the door. As I was struggling to find the door, the light(s) came back on. Being 76 and functionally blind in one eye (CRVO 2006), my muscular control to keep balance in total darkness is not good. I exited the restroom (which is near the bar area), and asked the employees if there had been a power failure. There were at least five employees in the area who heard what I said. A couple of them said that there was no power failure. I told them that while I was in the bathroom, I incurred a total blackout. Several employees shrugged their shoulders and seemed to have no concern. No one seemed to accept my report that I was thrown into total darkness by surprise. Later, I decided to return to the restroom to check it out. I found what seemed to be a motion detector, and while standing STILL in front of the commode, the lights went out again. They came back on when I walked towards the door. Complaint #1 - I do not know the electric rate paid by Grandview. My total rate where I live (distribution plus supply) is less than 15 cents per KWH. A 100-watt bulb burning for 10 hours straight costs me a hair less than 15 cents. Assuming Grandview is open 10 hours a day, and assuming that the bathroom lighting is 100 watts, and assuming that Grandview pays the same rate I do, Grandview is risking the safety of people to save at most 15 cents a day. I cannot believe the business practices of this company! Complaint #2 - My guess is that the several employees who I spoke to all knew what happened to me and just pretended that I was confused about what happened. My recommendation - Put a light switch in the room, and make sure that it is off when closing up. My purpose for this post - To let management know what happened. And in case someone ever gets hurt in the dark in the future, provide the opportunity for their family to find my post and determine that the safety condition was previously reported. Grandview is my go-to place for an afternoon or evening out. They have a great selection of sweet/fruity wines along side the amazing dry wines. This is the only vineyard in the area that does dry reds well-hello Cab Sav, Cab Franc, Norton and Crimson Quartet-and the semi-sweet Diamond Dust is perfect for hot summer days. The staff are friendly and efficient and always able to make recommendations. Tastings are more than reasonably priced and free if you are a wine club member. I always bring my out of town guests here and everyone always asks to come back! read more

Very nice winery. Great views and beautiful deck. The inside of the winery is spacious and I did not feel cramped. There were two bridal showers going on when we were there (one inside and one outside). I think it is nice that they allow private parties, but I think it takes away from the experience of other patrons. Perhaps offering events before or after hours would be better. Additionally, the wine tasting fee is $6. You can purchase wines by the glass or bottle to enjoy while you are there, which is nice. They also offer a wine and cheese pairing for $10. We visited here on a whim, and I have to admit I was really surprised this existed in Mount Joy. The tasting room is open and airy with large windows that let in a lot of light. The views really are beautiful, and the porch would be a great place hang out during the warmer months. The staff was very friendly and helped us select the tasting paired with local cheeses. I loved the Cabernet Franc! By far my favorite. Honestly, I even liked the blackberry wine, which is mind-blowing because I'm not a fruit wine fan. The finish was dry and it was really something I could see myself drinking. Only downside was that the used a measured liquor pourer in the wine bottles to measure out the one ounce tasting. This was a bit of a turn off when they could just eyeball it; however, the pairings were thoughtfully selected, and I'm glad we decided on the cheese (delicious!). The winemaker's select cheese with the cabernet rind was the best. I can't wait to visit again and see how this vineyard is taking off. read more
