A decent pie at a decent price. Granelli's has a mountain town pizza vibe right in downtown CR. The service is fast and the food comes quickly. Be aware that the seating is mostly outside and it will be hot if it's crowded. The pizza is delicious...opt for the thicker crust over the thin. We're from out of town, and found this place on Apple Maps. Ordered the gluten free pizza tough as a rock. Also ordered two meatball subs because on the website they looked awesome but call it false advertisement. They were tiny and had no sauce and very little cheese meatballs were definitely frozen no doubt about it. I was shocked when I ordered Granelli's today. It seems to really have gone downhill. The pizza was inedible and I had to throw it away.

The pizza is decent, that was not the problem with the order. The problem is the online ordering. I ordered 3 pizzas, a taco, cheese and a pepperoni and jalapeño. When I got home I had a taco and 2 cheeses. When I called I was told that the online ordering is very confusing and that all that was ordered was a cheese and none of the toppings were added. I was told that they have had lots of problems with the online ordering process. Here is the thing.....if it's that difficult to use, don't offer it. I was told that I need to call in my order if I want it to be correct. That is wrong; you need to fix the flaw in your process! On top of that the online ordering auto select a 20% tip. I changed that to a custom tip as I was driving in to pick it up. The online order reset it to the 20%. If you know something is wrong then don't offer that option and if you do and you know it doesn't work well then I have to assume that you are okay with ripping people off. I might try dine in as the pizza was pretty good but I will never order to go again and I do that way more than I dine in. read more

They went above and beyond after I asked for a non-alcoholic beer and a prosecco for my wife... they said no at first but then went to the liquor store to get it and surprised us! I gave a great review six years ago and we've been weekly regulars for 10 years The last few times we've been we've had rude people waiting on us. The food takes so long to get, even when we are only ones in the restaurant. I was giving some grace but last week we were sitting at a table and someone said we needed to move because the table we were at was for 5 people and there was a sign in front stating it, we were a party of 4. We said we'd move but it was cold by the window, could they close it? They said no but you can stay where you are. Then they came and said we had to move because a party of 5 came in. We said there's multiple other tables we see open for 5 or more. The person said, you have to move, very rudely. We left and went to Angie's A much more friendly atmosphere We will no longer be a regular at Granellis. Absolutely awful. The first time we went the man waiting on us was very rude. We decided not to go back as the food wasn't great. Tonight we decided to give it another go thinking maybe it was an off encounter. We had friends visiting from out of state and thought we would try it again. I walked in to the building, to a very flushed young lady who looked insanely overwhelmed. She was being yelled at from a woman in the back. When she asked her about our larger party she started yelling that there wasn't space, absolutely unbelievably unprofessional. I felt awful for the girl who looked shell shocked. No one should have to endure that ever, especially at their work place. I don't leave reviews, and I knew I needed to immediately. Just feeling sick to my stomach at what I just experienced. Almost every Friday night for the last two years we have went there for Pizza. We went there for the Pizza, but went there for simply amazing staff. Katie, the manager was wonderful, efficient,kind and hard working. We became such regulars that we tried each Friday to be served by Jen who remembered our order, brought our same drinks and was beyond great. Tonight we went there and did not recognize one server or staff. We asked where everyone was and were told they were no longer there. This was our favorite pizzeria before moving to Arizona. Back for the holidays, we ordered 2 pizzas, a pepperoni and The Rock and were very disappointed with the lack of toppings on both. The pepperoni pizza featured almost one thin slice per piece. The Rock was just as meager on toppings. Apparently the ownership now thinks that saving money on ingredients is going to be successful. Stopped in for the first time today, around 11:30 AM. I was the only customer at that time. There was a woman with short blonde hair in the kitchen with her back towards me. She did not acknowledge me for roughly 4 minutes. She was busy prepping for the day, that was my assumption. I placed my order, is Chicago style, hard dog, and fries, she was not very friendly, but she did tell me how long it would take for my food to be done. You then went on to question the validity of what I wrote and say that I made false accusations on a public forum, which makes your opening sentences feel a bit disingenuous to me. Granelli's support of the PRIDE Prom and employment of members of the LGBTQ community is admirable, but it also does not mean that what happened last Saturday is untrue and was not worthy of being called out. Thank you. ------ I participated in the Douglas County Parade this past weekend, and I was walking with the Democratic candidates, some of whom were carrying Pride flags to signify our recognition and inclusion to the LGBTQ community. When we passed Granelli's Pizzeria, the people inside loudly booed our group and several shouted out insults like "F*gs aren't welcome here!" Because the parade took place before their regular business hours, I'm not sure if Granelli's was open early or if it was a private gathering of employees, but it clearly reflected on the business and illustrated that anyone in the LGBTQ community was not welcome there. I am an LGBTQ ally, and although I have eaten at Granelli's a handful of times and enjoyed their food, I will not patronize them again and encourage anyone else who agrees that this behavior is despicable and unacceptable in our community to do the same until a formal apology is issued publicly. We were out and decided to stop into Granelli's Pizza. A super nice little restaurant. They have the open garage doors to circulate air and give you a little view. We ordered some Garlic Cheese Bread and a 14" Pepperoni Pizza. The Garlic Cheese Bread was cooked perfectly, not too much garlic on it. The dipping sauce was nice and smooth. The pepperoni was cooked under the cheese on the pizza, the sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes which are super flavorful. The crust is paper thin and cooked perfectly. I was in the very front window seat of Granellis this past weekend during the parade. Granelli's opens at 8am EVERY weekend for breakfast so we got there at 8 to get a good seat and a great breakfast. I have to mention, I was sitting next to my LESBIAN sister in law and across from my bi-sexual daughter. Our waitress, also lesbian was fantastic!!! Granelli's staff is one of the most diverse you will find around!!! Once the parade started, a male customer, not in our party, saw the Democratic portion of the parade and boo'd from the window. I quickly asked him, to please stop. Everyone has a right to believe what the believe and March in any parade! He boo'd a couple more times and then sat back in his seat with his very embarrassed wife! She thanked me for asking him to stop. It was a very unfortunate part of the morning. I've lived in Castle Rock for over 30 years. Granelli's was my favorite pizza joint until they changed ownership several years ago. The quality of the food and service declined substantially at that time. I think the new owners have taken to heart some of the complaints from loyal patrons and made adjustments to bring back the quality of the food over the past few years. Today I ordered dinner and the pizza was delicious. It was almost as good as it was 25 years ago. What was disappointing is the chicken parm sandwich. My friend said it was tasty but he was very upset by the fact that the sandwich was made with 1 chicken tender put inside of a hoagie bun. I know that times are tough for restaurants since COVID, but to charge $12.29 for a small chicken tender in a hoagie bun is ridiculous!! read more

Our family recently moved to the area and I was looking for some pizza for delivery. I used Google maps and found Granelli's Pizza. I called to place an order and found out I would have to pick it up because they do not deliver. I was told that I would have to pick up at 12:00 because they had about 18 pizzas ahead of me. No problem, I picked up a large "Meatsa" and a large "Kitchen Sink". While there I checked out the restaurant for dine-in options. It looked like a nice little restaurant however very hot without A/C. It turned out that we all loved the pizza and would compare it somewhat to Mannie and Bo's from Golden. Not less than a week later, on a Sunday ~6:00PM we dined in and had another "Meatsa". The place was very busy and the service was extremely slow. The waitresses seemed to be very frazzled. We also noticed that when you seat yourself, the wait staff does not know who came in and in what order, and we ended up placing our order much later than two other tables that came in AFTER we did. No biggie, I noted to myself that when you come to Granellis, don't be in a hurry. We had a great pizza with slow service. The cheese these guys use is the best and reminded me of my local pizza joint in my hometown, Alfano's Pizza of Oregon, IL that was part of the Pizza Connection. Last night we took my son and his girlfriend to Ganellis and that is when it all changed for us. I made sure me and my guests were there early so we had time to wait for what I explained would be slow service. They seated us this time, which I liked because we got the menus without asking the waitstaff for them. Our party of five ordered a Meatsa and a white pizza with pepperoni. We also had two draft beers for the two of us dudes, and his girlfriend had a spiked lemonade from the menu. It was Saturday night and they were somewhat busy, but not all tables were full. The waitress could not do the math on my son's girlfriends ID, but it seemed like she finally figured it out. When the waitress delivered our drinks, she asked to see my son's GF for her ID again. Maybe she was practicing for a math test? :-) Out meatsa pizza came out first after approximately 40 minutes and the white pizza 5 minutes after. We mentioned to the waitress that it was supposed to have pepperoni. She proceeded to check her note and said "yep, I messed up". She offered two options for us and missed out on the third. Our options were "bring a side of pepperoni" or "have them put pepperoni on the pizza and run it through again". Neither of these was appealing to any of us and were surprised there was no offer to remake the pie correctly. I said, "yeah a side of pepperoni is OK I guess." When she brought out the pepperoni, we ordered another round of drinks. When she came out with the drinks she must have noticed that we were not eating the white pizza and talked us into running it through again and adding pepperoni. We thanked her for the suggestion and she ran it through again. The white pizza finally showed itself again. It was like a zombie pizza, it just wouldn't go away. Now it was brown on the edges and looked like a Tontino's frozen pizza cooked by a child. She mentioned that she spoke with the manager and they were taking 20% off of this bad pizza. I thanked her and then ordered a third beer casue the place was hot (no A/C) and everything was taking some time. When our waitress delivered my beer, it was like 1.25" from full. None of them had really been full, this time it was obvious, so I mentioned it to her. She took it back and filled it. No one was eating the white pizza and we made the decision to order a "Meatsa" to go. We were ready for another 30 minutes of waiting but the dinner rush was clearing out. I asked the waitress if she could do better than 20% off on the pizza because we had eaten less than 10% of the pizza with all the slices (squares) still on our plates and we had no intention of taking it home. She said she would ask the manager. She came back and then told us that the manager was empowered to only deduct 20%. I asked to speak with the manager and that's when the S%^t hit the fan. The tattooed faced manager came out, we showed her the zombie pizza, and highlighted the fact that we had eaten less than 10% but were being charged for 80% of the dumpster-fire pizza. (of course I didn't use those terms) She came in hot to begin with and stated that they had offered to re-make the pie and we laughed that the offer was never made. I parroted the two options given to us. We also mentioned that we had been very patient with the slow (lack of) service and she rebutted that they were very busy and that the place was slammed for a Friday night. I made the mistake of telling here that it was "Saturday, all day", and that must've really pissed her off. She then proceeded to tell us to pay our tab and get the "F" out. And when you say anything even the manager / owner (wasn't sure which) is rude. Never eating here again. And I see a lot of people on Nextdoor saying the same thing...so not just me. I really wanted to like this place. I had gone here years before with my family and had pleasant memories. and I was looking for a replacement for siennas, who had amazing gluten-free pizza but they are now closed. I ordered a gluten-free crust pizza to go. I asked what the base ingredients were in the crust and they did not know. they said it was not made in house. Still, usually the ingredients are right on the packaging. I ordered anyway a pizza with no cheese but extra sauce, mushrooms, and onions. I order the same toppings everywhere. I have never been charged for extra sauce, especially when I don't even order cheese. They charged me for the extra sauce, and gave me the skimpiest mushrooms and onions. I knew something was wrong when I picked up the box, and it was light as a feather. But I took it out to the car and looked at it. It wasn't even cut up. so I brought it back and told them that it wasn't cut up, and typically Im not charged for extra sauce, especially when an expensive ingredient cheese is excluded. she did not offer to change it. And I did not press. she started to say that of course it was cut and implying that I was wrong. I showed it to her to prove it was not cut, and so she sent it back to get cut. so I ate the skimpiest small pizza I've ever had, paid about $22 plus tip. The ingredients could not have been more than three dollars. it was super bland, fortunately, I had asked for dried pepper seasoning. The crust was crisp and flat and just OK. I had told them that red mill was an option for gluten-free. The mushroom and onions were just little pieces. One more comment. The sauce seemed oddly sweet. I am not a fan of sweet pizza sauce, but that is personal preference. It's usually just an inexpensive way to add flavor. I will never go to Granelli's again. Still looking for a great pizza in the Castle Rock area. This is a tricky one, because the food here is almost always amazing. However they are usually understaffed to the point where if you're there when it's busy, you will be waiting a very long time for your food. Wow, has this place ever gone downhill. 4+ years ago I gave Granellis 5 stars. Today, I had one of the most disappointing meals of my life. I brought home my pizza and a side salad to eat while watching the Avs game. Beer, pizza, hockey, peace and quiet...it seemed like a great evening. The spinach salad was inedible. I don't think that they washed the spinach, and the house dressing (their recommendation) was flavorless, but some how made the dirty spinach taste worse. After a couple bites I threw it away. I probably should have tossed it out after one bite, but I couldn't believe it was really that bad. The pizza wasn't as bad as the salad... My new favorite pizza in town! We tried to come here about a year and a half ago on a Friday night and were shocked when the wait was over an hour. We decided to try somewhere else, but knew we wanted to try it sometime. We finally made it in this weekend and I regret not going sooner. We enjoyed the "rock" pizza and the "bbq chicken" pizza. I loved the sweet peppers on the "rock" pizza. The restaurant itself felt like a small town pizza shop, and very inviting. It was clean and staff were friendly. It did take a little longer to be seen by a waitress, and we ended up having to go get menus for ourselves. But once we were seen, we were happy with the service.
