I got LASIK yesterday afternoon. The level of information and care is incredible…read more I was a little nervous because of how blind I already was and those "what ifs" start creeping in about what if it gets worse or I end up completely blind instead of the already mostly blind. Everyone there makes you feel so at ease. Dr. Passi is awesome. You can tell he has the experience, knowledge to get what needs to happen done and forethought of everything you may ask, answered. One of my favorite things about Dr. Passi was his complete honesty, just enough fluff to make you comfortable but at the same time, made sure you understand what's going to happen, what needs to happen afterwards and realistically what to expect after treatment and that's ultimately what he's logically there for. The expertise in this area, and he more than knows his craft. Last night oof, he was right, I was wrecked but after following directions of medicated eye drops every 2 hours and wear the covers with the correct amount of ibuprofen- Tylenol ratio, I was totally fine this morning (I took melatonin too because it never hurts to want to not wake up constantly) I'm sure Hoopes is great BUT I also would say there's definitely not just a single place to go and don't rule this place out. I personally loved loved it.

My Doctor was Dr. Passi he was amazing, I told him after I had my second eye done that I got a little teary eyed on my drive into my post op appointment, I said "Did you know leaves are not just green and have many different shapes and rocks have lines that make unique patters, that yellow really is a pretty color and the sky was so blue and the clouds were so white. Colors are so vibrant it's just been amazing the difference. And a special shout out to Becca who scheduled my surgery was the sweetest funniest, caring human ever, she goes out of her way and gave 110%. I highly recommend the Eye Institue of Utah you wont be disappointed .

My experience with the exam process, surgery scheduling, and staff at the Moran Eye Center was…read moreextremely disappointing. Unfortunately, I felt that the doctor, anesthesiologist, and assisting staff demonstrated very poor bedside manner throughout my care. I was originally scheduled to have surgery on my second eye two weeks after the first procedure. However, my surgery was canceled without any notification from the scheduling department. When I called the day before surgery because I had not yet received my surgery time, I was informed that I was no longer on the schedule due to missing a postoperative appointment. What was most frustrating was the lack of communication and accountability. Initially, I was told they would likely be able to correct the issue pending approval from Dr. Pitha. I then received an email confirming surgery for the next day, along with an estimate and payment request. However, only a few hours later, I received another call stating that Dr. Pitha would not allow me to be added back to the schedule because of a "hard stop" on the schedule. In the end, I'm grateful things worked out the way they did because I chose to move forward with another surgeon. I had my surgery performed at the Eye Institute of Utah by Dr. Ian Christensen, and the experience was significantly better. I would highly recommend exploring that option for cataract surgery or other eye procedures. Based on my experience, I would caution others against assuming that being affiliated with the University of Utah guarantees a high level of patient care or organization. Unfortunately, my experience was marked by poor communication, disorganization, and a lack of professionalism. The only reason I gave one Star is because there was no other option.

Dr Gayer is the bomb. Do they say that anymore? Dr Gayer is so kind, patient, and knowledgeable…read more Did I say patient? Yes, patient. I can be a difficult eye patient, with all the machines, and probing, and prodding around my eyes. Each time they remind me that I need to get my eyes dilated, in order to have a proper eye exam. When I make my eye appointment it is during banker hours, and therefore I have to get back to work. I haven't had my eyes dilated for a few years now, due to the downtime, it takes for your eyes to be able to read printed words. I just found out that they are open on some Saturdays, and that I could make a Saturday appointment, that way I wouldn't have to take anytime off work. On a less than positive side, Keirsten the assistant, was very condescending, and borderline rude. I would also, like to see the "intake" machines updated. They remind me of old school eye exams where you covered one eye with your hand.
