We originally met with a big box store for a complete kitchen makeover, but the rep there only had small 4x4" samples--hardly enough size to feel confident about such an important choice. The big box rep also didn't explain key details like thickness options, polish finishes, or how the flow and pattern of quartz can minimize seams in a large space. Eric, on the other hand, was a true professional. He took the time to explain everything thoroughly and suggested we visit Cambria's showroom in Elk Grove Village. When we arrived at the Cambria showroom, rep Jaclyn Cornwall walked us through the store full slabs and showed us the different polish finishes side by side. By the time we left the showroom, we were completely confident in our quartz choice--color name, finish, and thickness. Jaclyn sent us to the Elk Grove Village Daltile showroom to pick out backsplash tiles, which we then brought back to Cambria to compare with the slabs. Seeing the slab and the tile together gave us 100% certainty. Before moving forward, we had requested quotes from several companies, but we kept coming back to Surface Solutions. Trust is important when making a big investment, and we trusted Eric and Samantha. They came through big time. Pricing was fair, turnaround was quick, and from the day we paid until installation, it was only 30 days. The install crew was excellent--removing our old countertops without damaging the cabinets and quickly installing the new quartz and sink (purchased through Surface Solutions). Everything looks fantastic, and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the result. Dejan was the first person to respond (7 minutes after I sent the initial message - talk about responsive!!!) I can confidently say that DK Stone's prices are the best in the market after comparing them amongst the other 4 competitors. The best part is that everyone else had told me that I would need to buy at least 2 slabs for the dimensions of our countertop. I asked Dejan how many slabs we would need and he said ONE SLAB for both island countertop and stovetop countertop!! He was able to calculate a configuration that would get everything done with minimal waste - this was huge in terms of cost. He had his guys come out to measure 5 days later and the counter tops were installed a couple of weeks after that. Everything was perfect, they were so efficient. Okay so now you have an idea of their work but what about service? Someone had accidentally taken our garbage disposal ring when they were cleaning up after the job so we couldn't get the disposal installed - we reached out to Dejan and he had someone drop it off. If I had more energy and time, I should have sued them. Instead I'm writing this post so you don't make the same mistake we did. Jesus Rubio (the owner) promised to complete the project in five weeks at the time of hiring. Its more than 9 weeks now and the project is only 50% done. After he got all the money his attitude changed and he stopped the work. When we followed up on the plan he got mad at us for being impatient and calling him so many times while he was working on project other than ours. When we started demanding a timeline, he would make empty promises, he kept us waiting for his workers to show up and then at the last minute he would come up with all kinds excuses for not coming to do our work. He yelled at us many times over the phone when we tried to get a commitment from him on a deadline to finish the project. He was unable to show any proof that he really used our money to buy all the materials for our kitchen. Dealing with him has been very stressful. We paid more than $37,500 out of project cost ($38,500). Now he has started avoiding us and not picking up our phone. We have found a similar allegation posted on Trustedpros.com against him. He is extremely dishonest and he knows how to manipulate others by drawing sympathy for the financial hardship he is going through.
