My mother has been at Granite Gate for 6 years now and it is the pits. It was recently sold, thank goodness but this new Stellar Living also leaves a lot to be desired. My mother has problems with UTI's and both times their nurse was supposed to take samples and get to the labs has been a fiasco. They don't return calls, they don't answer emails, and if you ask a question they treat you like dirt. I would not recommend this place on my worst enemy. Didn't use to be this way, but they can't keep good help for some reason. read more

My mother has lived at Granite Gate for a few years. They are refusing to turn on "the coolers" which allow the residents to turn on their air conditioner. It has been between 85 and 86 degrees in her room for the last two weeks due to the unseasonably warm weather this March. It is literally making her ill. Cost!!!!! That is for you folks out there who are having a difficult time getting actual cost. I don't want to tour anyplace that is out of my price range so I am calling and getting pricing on facilities in the surrounding area. a private room for memory care at this facility will cost $9,000 - $10,000 per month based on the figures they gave me for the room, level of care and medication management. It could go even higher. Most of the reviews I read are good and they certainly should be for the expense. Not for the average resident. read more

Our local Marine Corps League had our annual Christmas dinner at the Granite Gate last night. It was outstanding. The food was really excellent. I think the chief's name is Josh, I don't know how he got the chicken breasts & ham so moist & delicious but it was really good. I've eaten at about every place in town & I haven't had a better meal that at the Granite Gate. Everything from salad to dessert was very good. read more

To Granite Gate Senior Living, Prescott Arizona I would personally like to thank Sharon C. who is the Marketing Director at Granite Gate Senior Living in Prescott Arizona. Sharon was not only extremely professional in convincing me that Granite Gate was the right choice for my 93 year old mom, but she was also very warm and compassionate which was evident by the number of current residence who approached Sharon and exchanged hugs. Viewing this exchange of affection it immediately put my concerns to rest as far as the compassion my mom would receive. I was totally impressed with Sharon with her attention to detail, her patience in talking with my mom, and her answering every question we both had of her. Convincing an aging parent that it's time to move to a Senior Living location is not an easy task. However, Sharon made this move smooth and comforting which left my mom wanting to move in that day. Ran into 2 people we know who's family members have been here for a long time and both friends said they are so happy with this place that they would never have their mother's anywhere else! We had both our parents in this facility and both parents had very bad experiences with the nursing staff. Neglect, callous, mean behavior, dishonesty, etc. This is not a caring environment to put your parents into. We moved both of our parents to a different facility in the city of Prescott and had positive results. Although Granite Gate is in a beautiful location and seems peaceful, it has MAJOR problems. Resident Dr. did a terrible job treating my parents. In this forum, I cannot legally explain just how bad some of the nursing staff were to my parents. I was moving to Prescott from California. I searched for the best place for my Mom to live. My Mom fell on their watch. She fell,broke her hip, and died a week later. I had to go back to California to pick up my furniture etc. and was gone approximately 12 days after I got her settled in at Granite Gate. She fell in the evening on the night I returned from California. When she was admitted she was asessed in the routine manner. She had lost close to 15 lbs and dehydrated. As I later found out, she had not taken her pills while staying at Granite Gate. I talked with the Supervisor several times while I was in CA. She always assured me that they were watching Mom and They " could handle her", They were never clear about her status. They should have told me to come back ( and I would of in an instant), as Mom was not adjusting, eating or taking her pills. When I saw Mom the day I returned to Prescott, she was in bed, barely clothed, smelled like Pee. My friend was with me and we changed her clothes and put back to bed. I went and told the supervisor that I noticed a very large scab on Mom's arm. She replied she new nothing about this, because Mom always wore long shirts. She expressed little concern. I told her I would address several issues with her the next day. Unfortunately Mom fell that night when she was in the bathroom. I was devastated, and I am still dealing with the grief. It has been a little over two years, and have finally gotten to the point where I can write this review. My advice to you is to keep close track of what is happening to your loved one, if they are in the dementia unit. I am a retired Occupational therapist, who spent most of my years working with the elderly. I am very aware of how things should happen in the care of the elderly with Dementia. They charged me for the time I had to spend taking care of the business of Mom's funeral and getting her back to California. I couldn't get her furniture out of the room before I left for California. They never offered to help, and just kept charging Me. Again, Mom fell on their watch..... read more

My Mom has been living here since October 2015. This place is amazing, the view is wonderful, the food is great and the staff is so friendly. I have never had a doubt that my Mom is happy! We live local and come to Granite Gate weekly to visit and everyone knows us now and always has a smile on their face. My grandparents recently moved into this living facility. Straight out the gate it was beyond terrible. Be advised in this facility you don't have access to adjust your own air in your units. Corporate adjusts when and how cool or warm your living area is. My grandparents that are in their 90s were living with their apartment at 90 degrees for weeks!! The memory care facility was over 100 degrees!!! My grandparents unit broke also and needed major repairs. Which are yet to be completed weeks after the initial break down. Also how do you make hundreds of thousands of dollars a month and know Arizona is obviously incredibly warm that you don't have these AC unit's checked regularly??!! Aside from this their meals are terrible. They usually get items like cake for lunch or hotdogs. This is far from nutritional. Of course my Grandparents have tried speaking with management to no avail and will be moving out soon! PLEASE be careful if looking to live here. What was a godsend for some help and peace of mind for them while elderly has turned into far more of a hassle and safety concern. We moved my cousin and her husband to Granite Gate in late 2015. Sharon, Sales Director, was fabulous to work with and we were so appreciative of how much information that she provided to us. It was very evident that the residents love her by the many hugs that were exchanged. The setting in the Granite Dells is absolutely beautiful, including a lovely covered entryway where the residents can enjoy the scenery while relaxing in the comfy outdoor furniture. Since my husband and I live in NE, good communication is vital to ensure that we are current with everything happening in our loved ones' lives. The medical staff is so good about contacting us when the situation warrants. Everyone from the van drivers to the dining room staff have ready smiles. We feel very thankful that Granite Gate had availability when our relatives needed to have additional care. It's the perfect place for them! read more

I am very happy at Granite Gate. The staff are responsive and caring and the food is very good, and sometimes excellent. My husband fell recently and the staff responded within minutes and I feel comfortable leaving him alone in our apartment when I need to go shopping. If you research care facilities in Prescott you will find someone reporting problems at all of them - no business is perfect - but Granite Gate responds immediately to all suggestions and complaints and the staff work every single day to improve the quality of care. read more

I recently moved my 87 year old mother to Granite Gate. I found the marketing intake director, executive director and rest of administrative staff including medical and care taking assistance, compassionate, caring, professional and made the move and transition for my family and mother a seamless process. The facility is beautiful (resort located in the Granite Dells with beautiful views and landscape) and very warm for the residents and also for family and friends when visiting. I'm very disappointed in this place! First off the employees here are thief's and a relative of mine had thousands of dollars worth of stuff stolen from their apartment here, but they weren't able to find out which employee it was. Also my relative that lives here said other residents here also have been stolen from and that it's been an on going problem for years. They have VERY poor security and privacy rules here. All employees here has access to your apartment here at anytime. Even when your not home they allow the cleaning people in your apartment. Ok second off they are short staffed. So good luck if you fall. Because they don't have big/strong enough people that work here to help you get up. There was a time when my relative had to lay on the floor for a long period of time while they were trying to call their only male employee that's big enough to help, but he was off that day. So they have to call the paramedics. My relative came here to get basic help, but they weren't able to provide the help and then they stole from them. read more
