She has a nice 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. I really enjoy going to see her, knowing she is safe and contented there. She's made a number of friends there since she moved in. Meals, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance are all covered in the monthly fee. There are medical professionals helping with the health issues of the residents. I'm writing this today to acknowledge the great efforts of the staff as they protect the residents against the corona virus. Mom told me today in a phone call that they are all staying in their apartments, with meals being brought to them, instead of at the dining room. Will Burke is normally the sales manager. Our food came from a nursing facility across the street and was very often cold. The head caregiver there was not very friendly. There were rules there, but not really enforced. People were smoking, smoking marijuana and drinking, all of which were suppose to be forbidden. They scolded me when I finally left as if they had done everything they could for me and I didn't appreciate them. Things really need to change there. The food quality was not good. The cleaning staff was very nice as were the people that did laundry.

I left this facility after 30 days. They billed me for 90. In that time I was scolded for urinating…read morein a cup among other things. But the meds I needed to keep me from constantly having to pee (desmopressin) had not been given to me for over a week. Nor had my pain meds (hydrocortisone). Everyone knocked before entering my room except for the guy mentioned previously. He just walked on in. Most of the residents who spoke to me had nothing but complaints about facility. I was told when I Checked in On Monday I would be moved to first floor by Friday. 30 days later I moved back home off of 2nd floor with no help from anyone at the facility. The admissions person told me on the day I moved in an attorney would be contacted to get financial help. When I left, no attorney had been spoken to. None of the nurse call buttons in either room solicited a response. A few days after I left, I. Was called and scolded for leaving previous review. Im not angry. They don't return calls, they don't answer emails, and if you ask a question they treat you like dirt. I would not recommend this place on my worst enemy. The one they had left had no footrests, so my 89 yr old dad had to keep his feet elevated during the tour. I spoke with the director of Highgate, who told me it was both a liability (seriously?) and a hindrance to their assessment, which also sounds like bs. So, if this is how they care for their seniors when someone is watch, how good will the care be when nobody is watching, and what other goofy rules will they have? I was in treatment at "P" House for four months for issues with relationship, intimacy and sexual…read moreproblems. It is in fact a very community-based facility. That means living in a community with other men from all different walks of life, geographic areas, age differences, gender and/or sexual preferences. In reminds me somewhat of a military organization, in that people from all walks of life, economic positions, careers, etc. live together. This is in fact part of the treatment in learning how to become tolerant, share community responsibilities, self-govern (to a limited extent), and become a contributing member of a community. For some it is difficult, in that they have never had the experience or requirements to do so. It's about growth on an individual basis, in relational and interpersonal skills, in self-confidence, reliance on others, and examining the basis of your specific issue. Whether it's a substance or process addiction, there are many similar foundational actions, behaviors, traumas that contribute to our (clients) issues and helps build a bond between us (clients). One of the strengths of the organization is that nearly everyone of the staff, both support and therapists have been clients at Prescott House and are in recovery themselves. This gives them incredible "street creds", as they have been on the clients end and understand the issues the clients are dealing with. They also know how to get a client to look at themselves, take responsibility, learn how to change behaviors, thoughts, actions, and alternatives to the substance/process of choice. They are active in also working with the family of the clients, (those left to sit in the mess we left), and provide a space for family members to share the impact on them and integration back into the family, with boundaries, relapse prevention programs, relationship building plans. They also use whole person approach with using various outside practitioners, from spiritual advisors, fitness/health growth, life coaching/yoga, outside activities, meditation and mindfulness classes.
