This is for the memory care unit. Some flaws but they all do. Mainly very kind caregivers and well maintained facility.

I've been shopping senior living for my dad. Every other place we have visited had wheel chairs to push my dad around in. When we got to Highgate, we were told that management got rid of all the wheel chairs, except one. The one they had left had no footrests, so my 89 yr old dad had to keep his feet elevated during the tour. I spoke with the director of Highgate, who told me it was both a liability (seriously?) and a hindrance to their assessment, which also sounds like bs. So, if this is how they care for their seniors when someone is watch, how good will the care be when nobody is watching, and what other goofy rules will they have? We're steering clear of this place, due to the terrible start we had. read more

Hi, I was asked to write a review of Highgate of Prescott. My parents moved in back in 2017. My father had dementia, and my stepmom was taking care of him. She got sick and it progressed very quickly. I believe she knew that she was going to pass and used her needs to trick my dad to move to Highgate. He didn't want to and was resistant, but because of her inability to take care of herself and his realization that he could not take care of her, that he finally agreed. I could not take care of them because I live in southern California and am taking care of my sickly wife. My mom was only at Highgate for two weeks before she went to the hospital and passed just before Thanksgiving 2017. My father has been there since 2017 until August 2025 when he passed. He was on the assisted living side at first for a few years. On this side he was able to come and go as he pleased, but he was restricted because of his dementia. He would try to leave but the staff would distract him by telling him I was going to pick him up. The staff took care of keeping his apartment clean; washing his clothes, and they have an onsite cafeteria that kept him fed. These services were included in the rent. The food is pretty good. I would eat with him when I visited. My meal was only $5. When his condition worsened, then he graduated to the memory side of the facility. I jokingly call this the prison and the patients as inmates. On this side, the staff really watched him and took care of all his needs. They have alarmed exit doors on this side so the patients cannot leave without the staff knowing. I will say that my dad was different. We are Japanese and he would pull Ninja tricks. He would distract the staff by triggering one alarm and exiting another side. He really tested the staff and helped to improve their safety protocol. Highgate will keep the family informed about any occurrences with your loved one. When he would "escape"; he was immediately stopped, they will reach out to me to let me know. Any eating issues, falls, etc, they will call you. The staff are very kind and they care for the patients on a personal level as well. I will say the staff are great people. Everyone is warm, kind, caring and take pride in their duties. The director of the memory side, Isabel, is great to work with. She personally would take my father to medical appointments. Reach out to me just to let me know how my dad was doing. It was a true pleasure to be in contact with her, and knowing my dad was under her watchful eye. If you are considering having your loved one live at Highgate, I would encourage you to do so. I believe you cannot make any other choice in the Prescott area. We recently moved my motherinlaw to Highgate in Prescott from a different senior residence in Oregon. The care she has received since moving to Highgate is a vast improvement. My MIL is almost completely blind and so she has her eyes closed most of the time, BUT she is not always sleeping! The carers at Highgate recognize this and keep her out in the living areas throughout the day. They have comfortable recliners where she can rest with her feet up. They attend to foods she prefers and are keeping track of her weight to ensure she is getting proper calories. The food has been great! Isabel who manages "The Cottage" where the higher need residents live is an absolute Gem! Brigette, who organizes activities for the residents is thoughtful and has such positive energy. They both know each and every resident and truly attend to their differing abilities and needs. The staff are very well trained and have headsets so they can constantly communicate with one another. The entire staff - from the administration to the maintenance nd everyone in between - is a cooperative team that is consistently positive and interested in doing their jobs well. Working in memory care and with a variety of differing social, emotional and physical needs is very challenging work. Highgate's staff rise to the challenge. Since moving to Highgate's Cottage six weeks ago my mother-in-law's overall engagement and well being has improved steadily. We are so very thankful to have found Highgate for her! read more

Can not call in. Phone main switch always rings busy. Using the number staff gave me! Help!! Staff are great. Facilities are clean and well kept. Asphalt roadways need maintenance! After 2 days we are very satisfied with only negative is not being able to call into the facility! read more

Beautiful retirement home, don't be fooled. Awful awful awful. New staff all the time, scary mistakes made with medications. We had to get the actual records because we were never told. Only found out after a life-threatening error was made. Staff is constantly whining to families about their work environment. Residents are treated poorly, especially when no one is looking. My great grandmother had cameras installed in her unit after some cash turned up missing, and I know a lot of other people have too. Just like anywhere, there are some good people but they are outnumbered by badly trained "caregivers" or whatever they are who just want to do the minimum and go home. Also, the food is terrible. Don't buy into the hype and ask around before you consider this place. They have a bad reputation for a reason. Granny has been moved to another home and is much happier. Less expensive and the staff is actually attentive and kind! read more

In 2021 I began to volunteer for a local hospice. Shortly, I was receiving referrals for private care-giving and end of life work. I had the honor of assisting a family where the husband had passed and the wife needed to seek out Assisted Living. As many know, the Prescott area has a large amount of retirees and family out of state. Well, this was the case, so I took on the role with the support of the out of state daughter, to visit various places. I met with Kim and we immediately hit it off. She realized I'd also managed facilities so out of the gate, I appreciated her expertise, compassion, and time spent to show us around. The perfect room was available for my client. I still visit Highgate to see other residents and their staff. Kim is exceptional at her job and knows it takes insight and kindness to help families transition and move at this stage of life. Highgate is a wonderful facility. My father was in bad shape when my parents first moved in. We worked closely with Highgate to determine the proper level of care he needed. They are very flexible and can provide more or less care as needed. They even pro rate monthly care giving costs if needs change part way through a month. I can't say enough good things about the Highgate staff. My Dad recently passed, and the staff was so loving and caring throughout the difficult last weeks. My mother loves it there and has decided to stay on because it feels like her home. They are also very pet friendly, which was important to my parents. The facility itself is beautiful, with many areas that can be used by residents during family visits. I would definitely recommend Highgate when loved ones can no longer safely live in their home. read more

My 90 year old mother has been a resident of Highgate Senior Living for six months and has made herself right at home. She lived with me for 8 years, never getting dressed and never leaving my house except for doctor and dentist appointments. Now my mother gets dressed every day, goes to the restaurant twice a day with all her new friends, plays bingo regularly and absolutely LOVES her new home! She appears to have gained ten years to her life! If there have been issues in the past, we addressed them with the proper management and they were taken care of immediately. Highgate is the BEST of the BEST. Their holistic approach is throughout all of their branding. They don't give out cheap bags of candy. On a Sunday I called called Highgate Senior Living in Prescott. Although it was his day off, the an administrator, named Adim, met me at Highgate at 1:00. We talked about my needs and I filled out a mountain of paperwork. He told me two nurses from Highgate would do an assessment of my husband Tuesday morning. I left feeling much better. Monday morning I went to the hospice facility where I was told my husband would be discharged that day. I told them about Highgate and asked if he could stay until then. I explained that I'm just one person and he's bedbound. They refused any help. I took my phone outside to make some phone calls. When I came back inside, Adim and two nurses from Highgate were there to do the assessment. Admin and his staff had come a day early. They had gone out of their way to meet a critical need. I broke down and cried. I will never forget the kindness shown to me during this incredibly hard time. read more

If I could give a no star review I certainly would. This place is incredibly disturbing in regards to the care or lack thereof. Communication with the family is poor, nursing staff is incompetent, interaction with management was a complete disappointment and disrespectful. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE for your loved ones. This place is a collection crooks only concerned about taking your money and providing bare minimum care and supervision. read more
