Granite Gorge reopened in 2022 under new ownerships & the improvements to the trails, terrain, facilities, and customer experience have been incredible. It's a wonderful small mountain in south western New Hampshire. We spent more than a few days and nights skiing there last season with our kids. They also have lift-served mountain biking in the summer, as well as live music outside on Fridays and various special events, like the upcoming (as I write this) Fall Fest at the end of September. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. I would probably go with a 3.5. The tubing at this place is fun. It is also good for beginner snowboarders or skiiers because there is a small mountain area designated for that. Downside is that when we went, they weren't very busy so they weren't accepting credit cards, and we almost didn't have enough cash. It is also located smack in the middle of a highway, and we had trouble locating it because the GPS did not pick it up. Overall I think a place like this is good for children's birthday parties, or if you and a group of friends just want to go for a few hours without having to travel too far to one of the bigger mountains. I'm reviewing Granite Gorge not as a major ski area, which it certainly is not, but as a small, local, family-oriented ski slope, the kind that used to dot the map all over New England, until the mega-corporations with their sky high ticket prices and luxury condominiums took over the industry. Granite Gorge is just that: A small, family friendly, reasonably priced ski area, perfect for taking the kids for a quick session of skiing after school, or on a weekend afternoon. Not challenging, just a whole lot of fun. The tubing slope can be handled by just about anyone from age 2 to 100. Paid $250 for ski lessons for my son and after 2 lessons, they still haven't skied down the hill once. We rented the equipment from them and the skis aren't tuned at all. TheY aren't waxed so my son couldn't even attempt to ski down the hill, the bindings weRent properly fitted so his boots kept coming out with the slightest movement. Halfway through the lesson they hadn't eVen gone up the mountain. I do not recommend getting lessons here at all, complete waste of money and they don't believe in refunds... go figure! We are really glad we got a half price deal. The hill for tubing was smaller than expected, but good enough for a couple hours of fun, or so we thought. They stopped the tubing for a half an hour to groom the slopes as it was slick and fast. We spoke up about the slow manner that the work was done, and that end with the owner yelling and dropping the F bomb repeatedly telling us to leave. We were not that rude, and at that point we're just waiting for our 2 children to come down the hill to leave, but he kept yelling at us to *#! leave. Granite Gorge does not honor their words. I bought tickets in advance and the roads leading to Granite Gorge were closed. I was a mile away and called about the situation. They said they would honor my tickets for future visits. I have been calling and writing and they never got back to me. No one ever answered the phone call either. I wasted several hundred dollars on lift tickets for my family to this dishonest practice. My family goes to many resort and this one is surely one I will stay away. read more

Signed up for yelp just to write this review. If I could, I would give a zero star.Complete disappointment and disrespectful owner and staff. How dare these people refer to themselves as a family friendly functioning mountain to ski and snowboard on. No lifts were working at the time and I was assured it would be fixed within 20 minutes. An hour went by and still no one had attempted to fix it. Asked for a refund and the owner disrespectfully dismissed me and walked away. There were no snowmaking machines or trails open except for one trail being used by a ski team. Every trail was poorly maintained. Overall, a terrible experience that was a waste of time and of course money, since no refund was given. The owner had a violent manner and came at me with aggressive gestures. Do not give these people your business. Many other mountains nearby with better maintenance and management. read more

Signed my son up for skiing lessons. At his first lesson we found out that director quit and that the lift was broken and that they had no Idea when it would be repaired. It was unbelievably chaotic and then they put my son in the wrong group which not only discouraged him but had him in tears when he left. When I attempted to speak with the owner about a refund he repeatedly cut me off and suggested I sue him. Worst customer service I have ever experienced I have ever experienced at any skiing facility. with so many other options not that far away I would never suggest working with them. read more

Lastnight I spent $27 for the haunted hayride to house on haunted hill. It was advertised that Pennywise was going to be there handing out red balloons. Also leatherface is in the advertising. We got there a little early and left about 7:30/7:45ish and no Pennywise handing out red balloons and no leatherface either. The hayride was bumpy and flashlights were used to show the actors. The "haunted house" was a shed with some black plastic and a table with some bodyparts with 2 more actors. Basically it was a rest stop so the tractor could turn around. On the ride back I got hit on the back of the head with tree branches and actually got a scratch on the back of my neck. This is a joke, false advertising and a total waste of money! I have only attended this and have not been skiing or snow tubing so I am only reviewing the crappy hayride to the shed on the hill. read more

Great small mountain. Still fun with less crowds. We brought my 9 year old step daughter here a few days ago. She hadn't skied in two years and was melting down with frustration. Adam helped us find her a lesson. Dave was an awesome instructor. When the hour was over she had her smile and confidence back. She wanted to ski the rest of the day. I'm a newer snowboarder recovered from a bad injury. I love this mountain because I can practice and feel comfortable here. A must visit in the area. This is a great site to see if you have some time to spare while kicking around Brattleboro. The walk is very short and rather easy. They also have some complementary walking sticks you can borrow, so stop in grab a stick and get hiking!!!! The views in the gorge are beautiful, the trail is well maintained and it's a fantastic spot to take a breather if you have been doing allot driving. This is a true roadside gem!!! read more

I have 2 children enrolled in lessons at Granite Gorge. After the lift (the only lift they have) being down for several weeks we were insured that management would be meeting as so many families were furious that we were paying for lessons that our children were not getting. We went to our lessons this week hoping that the problem would be resolved but instead were met with an owner that told us our "solution" would be to go to another mountain. Never in my life have I seen a man speak to females (mothers who's children out within earshot) the way that this man did. They can keep the money that we have paid for lessons and we will NEVER be back. read more

I was there with my husband and 12 year old son today Saturday. The first time we went down my son was hit by another tube and he went flying in the air then fell on the snow second time I almost went over the hill there are no barriers let alone any employees giving signals to the employees on the hill to release the tubes when it safe to do so. The 20 minutes that I was there like 8 people got hit with tubes and they fell or flew in the air. My ass is bruised from going over the bump my back hurts and shoulders hopefully you do something before someone gets seriously hurt. I bought 3 passes for two hours and left in 20 minutes because I was worried for our safety. Don't waste your time and money, not worth it. read more

I brought my family here with a Groupon to go snow tubing. Granite Gorge has one slope with three lanes for snow tubing and they're pretty basic. They also have two slopes for skiing, snowmobiling and snowboarding. The prices are good and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were fortunate enough to come on a day that wasn't busy so we were able to fully enjoy the experience. I wish the slopes for tubing were a bit longer and had more peaks and turns, but all in all we had a lot of fun. read more

This review is for the Haunted Hayride. First off, they advertised a "full bar and grill" available. In reality they sold $4 beers and had two crockpots. That was disappointing. When we first entered we were given green tickets and told to just walk over the bridge and enjoy. When we were in line for drinks another woman asked if we had our tickets. I said yes and showed her the green ones she shook her head and said we need to exchange those for numbered ride tickets?? What? So disorganized. After we got our drinks we walked up the hill to the fire when a man approached us and said that this was a private party and not opened to the public. A private party during a public hayride? So frustrating. The hayride itself was complete garbage. About a ten minute ride up the hill to the "haunted house" aka a room you walk in where people run around with the lights on. Just a filler so that the tractor can turn around. This was a complete waste of $27 for me and my friend to attend. Do not come here unless you want to be ripped off. read more

I just want to share the experience that I just had at Granite Gorge. For those of you who don't know there are after school programs that ski at Granite Gorge. This season the ski lift has been down numerous times so the skiers had to climb the mountain or use the crowded carrot lift to ski. I understand that ski lifts break down but 3 out of 5 times is a bit much. Myself and some other parents tried to talk to the mountain about compensation a few weeks ago and they told us that they were meeting and would get back to us. I left my name and number and didn't here anything. Tonight the ski lift was working but they were now short instructors. To give them credit they did say they would add a lesson to the end of the six weeks but the way I was spoken to and treated by both owners I will not return to that mountain. My daughters and numerous other kids and families witnessed a man speaking to me in a very disrespectful way. When I started to explain what my concerns were the co-owner said to me in a very rude way " Lady, I am not listening to you complain go somewhere else, like Crotched Mountain". This man kept referring to me as "Lady". I obviously didn't get anywhere with him so when I asked the other co-owner for a face to face intelligent conversation I was told to "go onto Facebook and message me" and that he didn't have time to talk to me. There were other words exchanged but I will spare you all. I have never in my life experienced such poor customer service. My point of this post is to let you know that this mountain is not kid friendly or family friendly. I am very disappointed in the way I was treated by grown men and even more disappointed to have my daughters witness men speaking to a woman that way. My family and I know of at least 3 other families who were there tonight and have reached out to me that will not be returning to Granite Gorge. read more
