As others have said, this place gets a 5-star because: * Great staff. From the guy that checks you in to the guy who handles fitting you for rentals (and was the same guy that gave our group their lesson), to the people in the restaurant that carried our food all the way out to a picnic table outside * Full breadth of trails for all abilities -- long, interesting trails that are very well maintained * Priced right for what you get We had done zip lining at a different place earlier in the week and the price for the zip lining was almost the same as the "Find Your Ride" package that included a full day lift ticket, bike rental (along with helmet and pads), and an almost 2 hour lesson that included a trip down the Freedom Trail (easiest trail). The bikes were all in very good working condition and were prepared for us prior to arrival based on the height and weight info we provided during registration. There is far more physical fitness required for this than expected. It's not like zip lining where you just sit in a harness and hang on. Your quads and upper arms and hands will all feel the burn after the second ride down -- we did 5 rides and were absolutely exhausted by the end -- and we consider ourselves rather fit. The good news is that the food options were great (more than just hotdogs and chicken fingers -- check out the menu online) and they have a dozen decent beers on tap so if some of your group wants to pack it in after a couple rides, there is enough to keep them occupied while waiting. There are picnic tables with umbrellas or you can sit inside. Our biggest complaint is the online waiver process. It is so long and doesn't account for families signing up -- all the information had to be repeated multiple times. It also asked for things like Drivers License # and that seems over the top for a MINOR's waiver! Please, this needs to be more reasonable and ask for names, birthdates, and phone number and email address -- and if the parent is filling it out for the kid, it should only require name and birthday -- the kid doens't have any ID documents. read more

Throughout the summer, I visit multiple bike parks, and this one stacks up for many reasons. they have bike repair, giftshop parts and riding gear for sale along with a really nice restaurant and bar, and a very good use of course throughout the property for Mtb riding. all skill levels. and the dudes that work here absolutely shred the place. if you're into riding and you enjoy nature, and you wanna have trails of all ability, go out of your way to get here and you'll be happy you did. read more

I was in New England visiting family and took the opportunity to visit the bike park. I've seen videos of it recently and I was totally stoked to give the place a shot. I highly recommend checking out some YouTube videos before you go to get a feel for the place. First thing was the website - it was dynamite. It was easy to see prices for everything and how the ticket price changed the closer to your ride date it is: highly recommend buying online early to get the best deal. Then the rental bike situation - I've got my own bikes, but I didn't want to haul a bike across the country so I rented one. The selection was amazing. I was going to be riding for two days and I picked a sweet Trek Session. The site asks for your height and weight so they can set up the bike to your configuration - perfect. Getting to the park was a bit interesting because it is off the beaten path a bit and I was wondering if my directions were correct when the final dirt road up to the parking lot appeared. That last road is a little rough, but nothing a normal car can't handle. Upon arrival at the base I was immediately taken by how intimate the place seemed. It's a fairly small, dirt lot and just a couple buildings. It's not some hyped up, over the top, phony, franchise. Highland seems just home grown and simple which I really enjoy. The folks in the welcome center found my ticket purchase on their system along with my waiver with ease - I just needed to show ID with a birthdate for confirmation. They gave me a wrist strap and directed me to the rental center. The rental lads were bustling before 10AM and already had my bike prepared to my dimensions and ready to ride. No wasted time and very professional. I strongly recommend getting the insurance with a bike rental - it's only $20 and will save you $$$ if the bike gets damaged or even if you get a flat. I did get a flat and was told it would be $27 to buy a tube and have it installed, but since I had the insurance it was covered. Get the insurance unless you have your own tools and spares. I was riding on a Tuesday and a Wednesday so the lines were pretty quick. In two days I got in 31 runs - I rode EVERY trail that wasn't closed or off limits (except the XC trails off the western slope). I didn't stop for lunch and I snacked on the lift. The trails are unbelievable! I tried every trail from Green to Double Blacks and they were undeniably fantastic. Every trail had something to offer and there were progression options and beautiful features everywhere. The flow trails were splendid and offered grand jumps, sweeping berms and various sized drops. The technical trails put the capital 'G' in Gnarly! Even the single black technical trails were choppier and chunkier than I anticipated. Words can't adequately describe the trails and I again recommend watching some videos. They have 30+ trails and you can combine easy with difficulty as you make your way down the mountain so do some research before you go. Look at their website to see the trail maps. I got to ride up the lift with one of the park coaches and got some education on their camp situation. They offer riding camps for various skill levels all summer. There were kids of all ages involved in training camps and they were really shredding - it was amazing to see the skill those kids were exhibiting. At the end of the day I was thoroughly exhausted, but beaming with satisfaction. I hit the merchandise shop and picked out some souvenirs, but the best one is definitely the epic memory of each ride during my two day biking holiday. read more

I took the Find Your Ride lesson on Aug. 17th. Peter was the instructor and he was great. He had lots of patience and was very clear with his directions, explanations, etc. I am 55 and have ridden trails with my 16 year old son, never any downhill. I learned skills that made me more comfortable and ended up doing Freedom Trail 5 times with only one slight skid out, no falls. There was a young, female rider who fell four times (some hard). Peter was very attentive made sure she was OK and then encouraging/supportive that she could finish Freedom Trail, which she did without anymore falls. For anyone taking a course, if you get great service, remember to tip these guys. I think I may have been the only one who did. read more

Visited with 11 and 13 year olds Thursday 6/4 and had a great day. Ordered online tickets and rented a bike, I accidentally rented two bike for wrong day and Highland promptly refunded payment and rescheduled bike rental for correct day. Very good customer service. Staff was friendly, courteous and professional. Masks were worn by all staff and efforts were made to follow NH State guidelines. They have masks and sanitizer readily available and all food is window service, including beer. Food was good, new menu and nice selection of local craft beer. They've added chairs to lift and increased capacity. Lines moved quick and boys rode all day, operating hours 10-5pm, and enjoyed beginner, intermediate and expert trails. You can learn to ride with your kids, execute technical trails or hit the jumps and drops. Bike shop, retail and service on site. They rectified an issue with my sons bike within an hour and $10! Overall very impressed with Highland Park. The boys loved it and can't wait to go bank. read more

I re-visited Highland this week and had another great day. Two of us took a two hour lesson with Coach Quinn to get better at drops and Jumps. Quinn is an amazing rider, teacher, and cool guy to ride with and learn from. His guidance on things I thought I was doing right, as well as his clear and simple instruction had me cornering much better and doing small to medium drops comfortably. My old brain and body couldn't really adopt the technique for jumping but that's on me, NOT Quinn. Everyone at Highland is always pleasant and they seem to be enjoying themselves, riders and staff alike. There are options at Highland for riders of any ability. From just trying it out, (Find yer ride) to OMG they didn't just do that!!! The features are amazing for those that can handle them. Highland just keeps getting better as they tweak the trails, the facilities and the options for riders. read more

The best bike park in New England or maybe America in my opinion. Lift lines can be long and it is slow but the tech is fast and fun and also steep and the type where you hold your breaks down a long steep slab. The flow goes from long flattish greens with rollers to a variety of huge jump trails including a professional slopestyle course. read more

We go here a couple of times a year and it never lets us down. The staff is great and even the on site food is good. No doubt this is one of the best bike parks and for summer 2018 they've improved/added trails. It's a great adventure! Our second time back and we are thrilled with this place. Something for everyone from first timers to pro. We signed up for the Find Your Ride Package and it was perfect. Good Enduro bike, safety gear, one hour lesson and lift ticket for the day. Our instructor was very good and had lots of patience for the first timers. You could tell they love what they do. Nice cafe in the lodge with excellent menu and fresh food rounded out the perfect day. read more

My son loves visiting Highland Mountain Bike park and has a great time there and enjoys the trails and instruction. However, I made the mistake of buying a day pass in advance for my son to ride with his friends this past weekend. Of course, there ended up being torrential downpours the night before into the morning of his visit. He and his friends ended up deciding not to ride due to the muddy conditions and potential safety concerns related to bad traction, etc. Seemed like sound decision making on their part. I realize the day passes have a "no rain check" policy, but it'd be nice to have some flexibility on this. I understand that Highland is one of only a couple bike parks within day trip distance from Boston, but it'd be nice not use that as an excuse to take a hard line with their customers and refuse all rescheduling. So, we're out $60 and my son is doubly disappointed (didn't get to ride AND lost his day pass). Looking forward to more of the southern-NH ski mountains converting to Mountain biking in the summer months so I can start taking my business elsewhere. read more

Mtn Bike Camp = Dartmouth Trauma Center In August of 2019 I enrolled my son in a beginner mtn bike camp at Highland Mountain. An 11 year old with rented bike and equipment, he was put in a beginner class with 6 other boys. After one trip down the mountain it was determined he will be in a group of advanced kids with his counselor, Quinn (who didn't do his assessment on run #1). Second trip down the mountain, my son is way in the back of the pack, and Quinn is riding his tail and telling him to go faster. This is his second run, and has 0 experience in downhill mtn biking. According to my son, Quinn's front tire is now rubbing his back tire and the pressure forced him off trail and over 2 berms and over his handle bars onto his head and neck. Stabilized, he was sent by ambulance to Franklin Hospital and by end of admitted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center's Trauma Unit for Children. 3 days in the trauma unit and months in a neck brace. I get that mtn biking is high risk, and accidents happen. What I don't get is when a parent signs their kid up as a beginner and a counselor determines after one run that they think otherwise. Then another counselor pressures them. Highland never contacted me, I had to contact them. Subsequent convo's with the camp director revealed that when a parent enrolls a child and rates their level of skill it is, and I quote "taken with a grain of salt." I didn't find the staff counselors or anyone to be sympathetic or apologetic and with counselors like my sons in charge of your kid, it's dangerous and it was VERY expensive. read more

A group from work planned a trip to go on memorial day weekend on Monday June first since we all got a day of liberty and where going to carpool from the Cape together. Silly me fat fingered on my phone screen and bought July 1st ticket instead of June 1st, immediately noticed and called to try and fix my mistake only to get a hard NO on changing a date even though they had plenty available tickets for both days. I understand policy but everyone can make a mistake. Ended up not being able to go and loosing my money. I understand that they can't cater to everyone's specific situations but a small gesture to at least try to come up with a solution goes a long way and separates a great business from a good one. read more

Geared more for black and double black riders, just a few trails for blue and green riders. Generally good trail conditions, but several areas could use work on smoothing out the braking bumps. Staff in general are friendly, including in the welcome center, the food area, and the trainers. Lift lines would flow faster with someone directing and grouping people. Weekend lines can be really long. Fridays can be a decent wait. Water faucets at the lift base are brown and nasty, needs filtering. Everyone is thirsty after runs, some good water would help. Road in to the lot is full of potholes and could use smoothing out. More shaded seats would help make it a better place to hang out at the bottom. read more

This was my first time ever riding here, however my family rides here all the time. The trails are a lot of fun for the few that I was able to ride. I am from Cali and we have some of the best parks to ride there, but I was excited to ride. I rented a bike from them thinking that would be the best option for me instead of shipping my bike. Well the Bike was great a V10. The only think that was bad was the brakes. I am 200lbs and when we were flying down cats paw I noticed the brakes would not slow me down and the lever was real mushy!! I took the bike to the bike shop and the kid working there tried telling all brakes are like that. I argued and told him no my Hope e4 brakes will lock up and slow me down very fast! I asked them to bleed the brakes and they refused guaranteeing me them at this is how the sram guides are, and I should be using the front brakes while riding down the hill? I have never heard of anyone hauling ass down a mountain hitting the front brakes to stop! So I went on another run because I spent over $200 on rentals and this time the brakes did not stop me at all. I went into a wood feature jump full speed because I couldn't stop and I slammed into a tree after I hit the wood feature!! I sprained my wrist, broke my GoPro and bruised my shoulder. Needless to say my day was over! Limped the bike down the hill and into the bike shop told them what happened and the kid still did not check the brakes. Instead he moved the bike right back out to be rented again!! Made no sense the person I was riding with even said something and they still did not want to check the brakes. My advice is NEVER let them work on your bike! They obviously have no clue . So to follow up management at Highland park emailed me and reviewed emails that we had sent. Management handled this very professionally and they were very apologetic to what happened. I will not disclose anything they said but no one lost a job (which is great) and are changing policies for any issues with brakes on a rental bike. THANK YOU DON!!!! read more

Even though I live in one of the best places to be a mountain biker (Northern California) I can attest that highland bike park is the best bike park I've ridden. Don't let the lack of vertical fool you, they utilize all of it. The technical terrain, the jumps, the flow, it beats out the bigger parks I've ridden (trestle, mammoth, killington) I think the best thing about it is the lack of a village. You cube here to shred the gnar, not sip lattes and talk about the latest carbon bars. read more

I was there for the very first time with some friends on Sunday, Columbus Day weekend 2019. Things started out OK, waited in line for about 20 minutes for the first run. From the top of the hill to the bottom takes about 5 minutes (I timed it). Second run, we waited in line for 30 minutes. Yes. The chairlift is incredibly slow and Highland Bike Park oversold tickets and decided to make everyone unhappy instead of shutting down ticket sales. Third run we got back down to the bottom and the line was almost all the way back to the lodge. Yes. From the back of the line it took 40minutes and then it takes about 15 minutes to ride to the top of the mountain. On the way back down we stopped a the pump track just so we could avoid getting back in line. Eventually got bored at the pump track and made our way back down again. The line had grown even longer. 45 minutes in line, 15 minutes to the top and 5 minutes back down. I won't go back to Highland Park. Mismanaged for sure. Overpriced rentals. Actually more money than Snowmass in Colorado. Yes, true. Snowmass has a demo bike rental that includes full day lift ticket, bike, helmet and all pads, oh and goggles. Highland Park demo rental is the bike only. Knee pads, $10.00, elbow pads $10.00, helmet $10.00. All separate costs. Why??? Lift tickets are also more expensive than Snowmass. We did a total of 6 runs the entire day. We started at 10am and went until about 4:30pm. Even at 4:30pm the line was all the way back to the lodge. Save your money and go somewhere that can get people up the hill without sucking you dry. read more

Be warned highland is not practicing nor encouraging safe distancing. I ride at H a lot and yesterday was the busiest day IV ever seen, and was overrun by out of staters. H is not capping numbers and it is Businesss as usual:Making money is first priority. To make it even more congested and dangerous only half the trails are open , and the ones that were open are in rough condition and people hanging out on trails and walking back up in some places to avoid waiting in a long line. Super friendly staff, awesome progression, and everything you need to have an excellent day no matter what your style or level. The trails are maintained, well marked, and cater to all levels. Natural, flow, features, dirtjumps, xc trails and even a learning area. They offer "find your ride" which includes lift tickets, rentals, and a lesson for a great price. They often host clinics for children/adults/women. There's a restaurant inside and a decent sized area to hang out inside or outside. A fireplace to sit by in the colder months. I finally rode here for the first time yesterday for closing weekend. It was low 20s and icy. This park still amazed me at how well maintained and rideable the trails were given the circumstances. There were plenty of other riders yet if I even had to wait in the chair lift line it wasn't more than 1-2 minutes at most. The trails offer everything from technical downhill, flowy intermediate lines and jumps, to challenging drops and gaps or dirt jump lines. Small to large features were all so well built it was nice to progress throughout the day and hit everything we could. This is definitely America's bike park!! read more

My 12 year old son and I visited here this past weekend. Highland MTB Park has a lift to take you to the top of what used to be a ski area. Some engineers came out and carved amazing curving banked trails through the mountain that are a blast to downhill mountain bike on. My son and I used normal cross country mountain bikes and we were fine. I could see buying or renting real down hill mountain bikes which are better for doing only downhill in a bunch of ways. Real downhillers use lots of pads and better helmets which allow better protection in a crash which is likely if you do this a lot and get really fast. The lodge at the bottom is great with a good cafeteria making varied pizzas and sandwiches. There's a bar as well for apres bike. We will return! read more

All around great place to visit. We came up for the day from Boston - my 9 & 12 year old boys had never been downhill biking before. Highland staff was so friendly from the 1st person we met for waivers to the equipment rental folks to the lift operators and cafe workers. Honestly coming from Boston we were shocked at how genuinely nice everyone was. The trails are amazingly well developed and varied. We look forward to coming back to try some more black trails but the blues and greens were plenty fun. You have to make it up to visit this place. It was one of our final summer experiences and we wish we came here sooner. Will be back very soon. Great job to the owners for making a place where kids want to put down the video games and get outside! read more
