BEWARE! SHADY STAFF!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I don't have anything negative to say about the complex as we were only there for a year BUT the staff is just awful. We had just signed our 2nd-year lease for renewal but shortly after signing(literally 5 days) our offer got accepted on a house we were looking at. Now you're probably thinking why sign over a lease when you knew you were putting in offers? Well, the market was crazy last year and still is but it was a bidding war. We probably put in 10 offers and had no luck. With that being said I had sent an email to see what our options were since I didn't want to continue for another 6 months knowing we have a house now. They told me well you either find someone to take over your lease, pay $2000 plus rent to leave or you can go monthly and pay an extra $600.00 per month. They also told me if I did the lease takeover I would not get my deposit back (Which I was okay with, as it went to the new tenant.) I told them I would do the lease takeover for now and if at the end of January I didn't find anyone if I could just pay the extra in rent at the end and they agreed, GREAT!!! I posted my apartment on Facebook, Marketplace, and other groups I could find for rentals. I had multiple people tell me they were interested and I referred them to my apt # when applying. I had reached out every day to see if anyone had put in an application and their answer was always no. When I would follow up the next day they would tell me they received an application but they can't get through and if I can contact them... Why would I have to contact them? Isn't that what you're getting paid to do? Anyways I told them I didn't have their number and if they can continue to reach out. I moved out on January 22nd and turned in my keys. When I was in the office I asked if anyone turned in an application for my apartment # and she instantly said no. She didn't go look at the computer or applications. I knew at that moment something shady was going on. Tammy reached out to me on January 28th about my apartment and asked if it was still available and I told her yes. Please send in an application and apply with this apt #. She messaged me back saying my apartment was no longer available. WEIRD. Why wasn't I informed? In my eyes, I technically had until the 31st to have someone do a lease takeover. I sent them an email informing them that someone had reached out about my apartment and someone told them that it was no longer available and you referred them to another unit #. I am asking at that point did someone else rent it out because I was never told otherwise. They responded we got it figured out... What does that mean? I resent another email asking which person because she is telling me something different. They then said someone else had put my apartment on hold and Tammy was looking at renting 2 places and doing 2 lease takeovers.. A month goes by and they send me my move-out balance. On my statement they said I owed $1800 and that I didn't pay for January's rent, they tacked on some utility fees(which I paid for under my name), carpet cleaning(which I had a receipt for), and some random "damages". At this point, I was pretty livid and told them that all the information was incorrect and she apologized and it was all incorrect they do see my receipts and now my balance is $565 for the difference in rent since "No one" took over my lease. I drove my ass to that apartment complex and knocked on my old door and guess what a gentleman opened the door, I had asked him about a package that I "accidentally" had shipped to my old address, then asked him when he moved in and he said the first week of February. So not only are they trying to charge me an extra $560 but they did do a lease takeover, someone moved in right after me, they kept my $400 deposit and have yet to return it to me, took that person's deposit, and sent me to collections. Pros: 1)Reasonable rent, pet fees, and safety deposit 2)Renters were usually pretty friendly 3)Staff was friendly 4) It's really close to parks and a walking trail. 5) It's really close to a farmer's market. Cons: 1)They lost my application fee because someone in the office misfiled it. 2) No one picks up their dog's poo, and the office doesn't enforce it. 3) Parking is a nightmare! People park in the fire lanes, in front of hydrants, and basically anywhere they can squeeze their car. 4) It's basically on the railroad tracks, and those tracks are used at ALL hours of the day and night. You might want to bring earplugs. 5) Because parking is a nightmare, I had to rent a garage. The problem is that people were parked in the fire lane in front of my garage so it was almost impossible to get the car in and out. I had called about this problem so many times I lost count and staff did nothing to permanently fix this problem. At one point the only way to get my brand new car in was to actually cause a foot long scratch against the wall so bad the paint completely came off. So, I took my chances with the parking lots, hoping to get home in time so I wouldn't have to park in the fire lanes. 6) When you move out, they basically want you to do a professional cleaning before you check out. What normal people call "wear and tear" they see as "dirty" and "damaged." They will charge you tooth and nail for something they should legally have professionally cleaned anyway. I absolutely hate these apartments. I am so glad I'm only here for 6 months. Pros: they allow short term leases and they allow dogs. Cons: everything else. Everything in the apartment is cheap and made with poor quality materials. The appliances, light fixtures, carpet, ac, heater, etc are all crap. The apartments are small and dark, lack counter space and the walls are paper thin. I can hear cabinets close, walking, people going up the stairs outside, people talking, showers running, toilets flush, people walking by my front door. It's awful. For the price you pay you can find better else where. read more

Kevin the "owner" of McCathren Management is extremely unreasonable when it comes to potential tenants. If your credit score is a little low they require some one with a "strong" score to cosign for you, I'm short 31 points is all. He will not even accept an additional deposit (I offered a full month's rent to ease his mind). I have impeccable rental history and have been paying over $1,000 for 2 years at my current complex but am looking to move so I don't have to pay $1,100. I will be posting reviews about the complex and management company any and everywhere I can to warn prospective renters that the man that "manages" the properties is only looking out for himself. There are other places you can call home, don't give this guy your business or money! Side note, the only reason my credit score is below the required 650 minimum is because I spent the first half of October in Europe (including the Seahawks game in London) and spent over $3,000 (that I'd saved for months) but my $1,006 rent and $450 car payment were paid on time and in full. read more

Very uncomfortable place to live with fights in the parking lot, pot smell coming through the walls, regular presence of police, dog breeding in one apartment near by, etc. This place draws a bad crowd, but management and ground staff have always tried to be helpful and work with the chaos. I have 17 people that are going to testify against them in hopes of closing this company & complex down. So if you live here you might want to move! They have lost money orders! I am LIVID. We had to move to WA due to a family emergency and have been in a temp rental which expired 2 days ago. When I called granite pointe to inquire about an apartment I explained that we needed to move ASAP or at least by the 1st of the month. They told me to apply, put down a $200 holding deposit and we can move in on 1st. I explained that our credit was not good but we had a co-signer with good credit, no problem they said. They made us wait until the 3rd of the month when we were already supposed to be out to tell us that we got denied and it took 6 phone calls to get them to pick up, then 3 hours to hear back from the manager in order to find out what I already knew. They wouldn't let a co-signer apply until today...the 3rd! After they had already taken our $80 for application fees they decide to tell us that the co-signer has to make 4x the rent regardless of a superior credit score and perfect rental history, when questioned they said to go ahead and have the co-signer apply and they might approve it. Turns out 4x is too much. So here I am like oh heck no I'm not paying a total of $120 to be told they "might" I might as well wipe my butt with the money and flush it down the toilet. So we call back and after waiting another hour to get an actual answer I was told they will only work around it if the co-signer makes 3.5x the rent...yo that's still $4,300 a month for one person, my cosigner works 2 full time jobs but she doesn't make that much on her own! On a side note, I called to verify that they received the $200 money order, they confirmed and then in the process of all of this they lost it twice which was very stressful. If you are in a hurry forget about it no matter what they say or how promising it sounds because they will deceive you. Also, make sure your credit score is 650+ and if not make sure your co-signer with immaculate history in every other factor makes 4x the rent on their own because they will beat around the bush as much as they can to try and profit off of application fees. I was skeptical before applying due to other reviews in regards to money being wasted but it really sounded like we would get the place with my co-signer. Boy was I wrong. If you too are skeptical, you should be. So I guess the moral of the story is, don't do it. Don't give those people your precious time or your hard earned money because you deserve better, I know my family does. On the flip side we got approved for a nice townhouse with hardwood floors, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances for $200 less than we would have paid for phase 1, spend your money elsewhere. read more

Probably the worst place I've ever lived. Expensive and made cheaply to start, while living there a neighbor in the complex was murdered still unsolved, many people's apartments were broken into including mine within the first month. On top of it they charged a tenant for the door replacement after it was kicked in and did fix it for three days while him his daughter and pregnant wife with twins had to barricade the door to try and keep people out. I will never live in this place again. They also had my friends car towed before they added red lines and told me my dog was causing fear in other tenants and asked me to remove him from the unit. They lead you on to believe you'll get the apartment then last minute tell you that your co-signer needs to have a 700 credit score and make 4x the rent, not only that but when I went back to get my check from them the main manager laughed at me and glared at me. They told me that everyone who has a co-signer in that area makes 4x the rent wanted. The next day I told my aunt about how these apartments screwed me over without giving her the name to them and they dropped the rent on the one bedroom one bathroom from 985 to 825 and instead of 400 deposit they wanted 200. read more

The apartments are made out of cheap materials that wear easily. The outside is nice but these apartments will look like crap in ten years. I would look elsewhere for the cost of this place. Also the office assistants are always very rude and love to take on fees. This apartment goes out of their way to make you feel like crap. They hire shady lawn care people and other contractors. Cops have been called here multiple times within the last year. The rooms are also paper thin so you hear everyone's business plus smell their weed. Leslie at Granite Pointe 3 went above and beyond in helping me when I came home on my lunch break, to be greeted by a badly wounded pigeon in my kitchen(thanks to my cats ). I called management right away and spoke with Leslie and she was very pleasant and helpful on handling my situation as well as very thoughtful in regards to me getting back to work from lunch on time. As soon as I got off the phone with her she sent maintenance, Nate (very nice and professional), to come over right away! After he removed the wounded pigeon, he took it back to the clubhouse and they took it to the vet for further care, YAY! Overall Leslie and Nate were AWESOME!!! read more

Absolutely NO !! If you can even get past their credit check! Have perfect 10 yr tenant history , no criminal, however lower credit score as i dont use credit cards( not bad credit- just little). I spent $40 and had to call them several times to get my results. Finally caught up with someone and they said I was denied !! Gave NO reason and gave NO alternatives, ie, bigger deposit co-signer etc. as all others might do. Id say dont waste your money to do the credit check, and ask them first if you need a 700 point credit score. $40 wasted and 2 wks spent trying to get the answer. Odd as Im in an apt now which is twice as expensive in West WA and I was ok'd easily. I think they are pocketing your $40 credit check $$ and not even doing the checks... **** Dont even bother with these people. read more

The other renters have no regard for others. NOISY: The apartments are very noise. You can hear everything what your neighbors are doing. When they cough, go to the bathroom, talk, walk, everything! No privacy! WATCH FOR DELIVERIES: Office staff are not accepting packages at the front office. So, now you have the high potential of missing deliveries or having them stolen. The apartments have a very small air conditioner, mini heaters in each room. There is NO garbage disposal unless you live in the apartments near the train tracks. PETS: The only good thing is there pet policy. read more

Renter BEWARE. You might want a lawyer read the contract. Granite Pointe will have you pay hundreds to move in, and thousands to move out, allowing their renters to believe they have paid damage deposits, and then charge thousands of dollars in "move out costs." Management is unprofessional. We have a voicemail of the alleged owner Kevin Mccathren personally slandering us. We were never late, never missed a payment and left the apartment in good condition. As for our renting experience, HIGH crime rate. 3 times in a month for example, police had canine units out telling residents to not leave their home. We did not feel safe letting our child outside. Management hours unreliable. Managers would personally state they would be in the office and no show. The toilets constantly plugging and very poor ventlization. Kitchen impossible to cook in due to this and health concerns, such as asthma and allergies are greatly affected. Our son was locked in his bedroom when the door knob failed and it took them over a week to come fix it, which of course was after the 3-4 day call back time on "emergent" apartment concerns. You can hear every movement your upper and lower neighbors make. There is no where to park, especially. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Horrible. I originally jumped at the chance because they allowed more than one pet and had a "dog park" which turned out to be a small fenced-in mountain of poo (because no one cleaned up after their dogs, and management never enforced it). Eventually the massive poo pile escaped from Mt. Poo like flowing poo lava all over the sidewalks and landscaping. The apartment walls and ceilings were paper thin so everyone knew when the neighbors went poo and if they flushed and washed their hands. If you really listened, you could tell how many sheets of toilet paper they used. And speaking of poo, at least once a week the toilets would clog. If they weren't clogged, they would run constantly. In 6 months they replaced my toilet twice. Wouldn't you think you'd just fix it? I couldn't cook a healthy meal because there was absolutely no counter space and very few cupboards to store anything. The brand new oven kept shorting out, the freezer never got cold enough, I didn't even have a microwave. A maintenance person eventually noticed it was missing and brought me one, even though I asked several times when I first moved in. And speaking of maintenance, the cheesy little space heaters they have burned up after the first bitter cold snap in January and it took over a week to fix. I stayed warm with an electric blanket. I had a washing machine eat my laundry. The door was stuck and again, it took weeks before I was reunited with my beloved underwear. The breakers would blow constantly. Each time I vacuumed, little pieces of carpet would come up it was so cheap. That is, until I moved out when they insisted I pay over $1600 to replace all the carpet. (I admit, the dog tinkled in one spot near the door, but I paid to have it shampooed before I left. Let's move back outside, shall we? The poo infested sidewalks were never de-iced in winter (although they stuck a bucket of salt under the stairs if you wanted to do it yourself) and the parking lots were not plowed regularly. The sprinklers were aimed directly at your windows so if you ever did want fresh air (or a chance to breathe in the aroma of Mt Poo) you would get blasted with water. They sprinkled so often in then springtime, everything was muddy (at least we assumed it was mud). Good luck trying to speak with anyone. The management hours posted on the door were rarely kept and calling back from a voicemail? No, they must all get transferred to a call center in Absurdistan because they always claim they never received a message. But, I have to end on a good note, I met some nice neighbors. read more

Came across these apartments in our search for a place to live. First impression, everything looked nice and new and the lady we spoke with was friendly. The apartments looked very basic on the inside. The lady made it sound like we were going to be approved no doubt! Sure enough we came back denied even though my husband has great credit and we have a year of solid rental history, no criminal background, and solid employment. I didn't understand and they insisted that we both needed to have a co signer and they would send it to the manager to see if he will then approve it. No thank you. 80 dollars down the drain. This was the worst experience one could ever have. Went into the office looking for a 1 bedroom for my son & his girlfriend. Ashley showed me a couple apartments. We talked about the criteria. I told her they had no rental history or credit what so ever. My husband I would cosign for them. She said not a problem at all. The only criteria that they ask for there would be either a cosigner or a extra deposit. Nothing else or any other guidelines for them to meet, So they would be fine. We would consign and that was that they would get the apartment. Our credit score was very high way more then they need or require to get into this place. There is a $40.00 fee per applicant to be paid when each application is placed via the internet. She said we should do ours at the same time to make the process go faster do to the apartment was ready for move in at the time. So we came home got online and did all the applications. Didn't hear anything for days. When we finally heard something it was they didn't get approved. We asked why and were told there was other criteria. Huh!!!!!!!!!!! What other Criteria!!!!!! Was told there wouldn't be any other Criteria from the start!!!!!!! They new they had a cosigner do to know credit or rental history they were young and just starting out. They wouldn't give us any other info but said they would be having a meeting with the owner the next day and would have it look at it to see if he wanted to go ahead and improve them anyway. The next day came around and we waited and waited. Finally that afternoon the call came in and they were not approved. They were told it was CREDIT. WOW!!!!!!!!!! We told you from the get go they didn't have any Credit. So why the hell did you take there money and ours? Then come back to use and deny them because they didn't have any Credit? This place is a scam. They tell you one thing and do the total opposite thing. They lie and sneak for what ever reason. Maybe so they can make there end of the month???????
