Stop looking around at endless reviews, pick up the phone, and call these guys - these are the ones you want to work with. I decided to have Granite State Electricians out to help install some cabinet lighting and add a 2nd switch to a counter light at my house. Between my house and renting out an apartment for many years, I've had my share of electrical jobs and have worked with many companies in the area...Heritage, Trombley, Cote. If you haven't given Granite State a try, I implore you to do so! Right from the get go you are talking to an actual person who helps set you up with an appointment (as opposed to the other guys where you're often leaving a VM and praying you get a call back). Then the team will call and go over some of the details and make sure everyone is aligned on what needs to get done. When they come out to do the job, it is top notch. They got everything installed very professionally with no mess. Good design sense - they selected a nice little 3 way switch to separately control the above and below cabinet lights without having to install a completely different box and take up more wall space - great idea, and gives us more flexibility with lighting! They even helped troubleshoot a dimmer switch in the living room that was giving me problems. Everyone I have worked with has been great. Definitely recommend them, and will be scheduling some additional jobs in the future. read more

A week ago we set up an appointment for today. We were told the technician would be here between 830 and 9 AM on Wednesday, August 11. After three phone calls, it is now 11 o'clock and we've heard from no one and seen no one. Apparently these guys don't need the work, so we will go elsewhere. read more

I spoke to Jackie to set up a service call, but promptly needed to cancel when I found out the trip charge would be $195 (!) just to visit and diagnose. When I tried to cancel the service call due to the price, an incredibly rude and sarcastic Jackie gave me a hard time, asking me if the lights "fixed themselves", and then hung up on me. I can't speak to the work of the electricians, but my interaction with the company was not a good one. read more

We have owned our house for 3 years and have had 2 experiences with Granite State Electricians. Both have been good experiences. Most recently, I placed a call after hours in the evening and the owner called me back to assure me he would have someone out the next day. If you want to skip the details below, just know these guys are awesome! Having just moved to town from the South, I needed an electrician and Granite State Electricians took care of my house. They are quick, efficient, and very knowledgeable. I have had a total of (4) house calls by these guys. The first was the original job, the second was a continuation of the first and the third and fourth were follow up calls. We had extensive work done in our house that we were remodeling. Ray came out for the follow up calls and he is fantastic. The owner, Steve, is very gracious and their customer service is top notch. I would recommend them to anyone. Tip! I had a snow day and was making phone calls to get estimates on CSST bonding and trying to make appointments. GSPE was the only electrician company I called that picked up the phone (I'm not a fan of a leaving voice mails). The receptionist put me in touch with the owner, Steve, who gave me all the pricing information and helped me make use of my snow day. I scheduled two appointments with this company because they could not accommodate the whole job in one. That was fine with me since the second could be scheduled on a day that I was already off from work. The first visit involving changing over 2 prong ungrounded outlets to GFCI outlets. That visit went great and I learned a lot about the interesting upgrades that have been done in my 1910 built house. The afternoon before the second appointment to replace 4 ceiling fans, I received a stern message from Jackie indicating that if I did not call back and confirm the appointment the electrician would not show up - because the appointment had been made a month in advance. Due to my work schedule, I wasn't able to respond to her message until after they were closed. An electrician has not shown up today despite the appointment made to fit with both their & my schedule. I am wholly unimpressed and will not attempt to hire this business again. read more

As I was leaving a message for Granite State, my phone beeped and it was Granite State, apologizing for just missing my call. I was immediately impressed by the level of service I got just from the first few calls. The friendly voice on the other line promised she would locate an available tech and call right back to schedule my service. I couldn't believe how quickly I heard back that a tech was on the way. The electrician who arrived quickly and efficiently assessed the issue and got right to work. My new outlets were replaced while I stepped out of the room to talk with a completely different contractor about an unrelated job. They were able to rewire my pool pump and make a potential dangerous situation safe, as well as install a new timer switch. Having just moved to NH, and not knowing anyone, we chose Granite State to do a major electrical rewire on our new historic home (that was pretty intermingled with the old knob and tube wiring and looked like a jumbled mess to me) after looking at reviews. Mike and Chris showed up like knights in shining armor ... prompt, so courteous, and got right down to work. They diagnosed, repaired, pulled old stuff and cleaned up the entire house, from basement to our third floor family room. Two days is all it took, and they were a pleasure to work with... we have confidence in the work they did and will sleep really well in our wonderful "new" old home. Once here, they checked the problem immediately, had to run to the supply house and then came back and fixed it...total time 1 hour. INCREDIBLE COMPANY and my experience is WORTH THE READ: I was experiencing brown out conditions in my house after having done some amateur work around the kitchen, to move some plugs. After completing [that] work, I threw on the breaker and had a ground-out, which I could only attribute to the [amateur] work I had done, thus assuming it was my fault. After testing the breaker connections in the box, it seemed something more might be going on, so I called my utility company to come take a look. They gave me a clean bill of health, indicating that whatever the issue was, it was within my house. ENTER: Granite State Electricians... and Ray Desroche!! Within 20mins of testing, checking and listening... he kept focusing on the utility pole outside of the house. After a few minutes he called me over and pointed up to the pole, then over to the transformer, then pointed out a wire that was burnt clean through; something over looked by the utility company responsible for it. Ray then stayed until the utility company arrived and respectfully worked through THEIR issue with them until it was resolved - which completely fixed the problem [previously reported by the utility company as] "inside" the house. Ray went above and beyond to [then] reconnect all of the wires and breakers previously disconnected during the trouble shooting efforts that went on prior to his arrival. Long/short: Ray identified an underlying UTILITY issue that was over looked by our big utility company; and then oversaw the ultimate fix up at the pole done by the utility company, and then still went in and did thorough testing after the fix to make sure that was the underlying issue and was fixed, which it had been. Its already been said in prior reviews -- stop looking, this is the company you're looking for --- thank you Ray and Steve!!! read more

Horrible to deal with!!! Extreme lack of communication, they gave a verbal estimate that doubled at bill time. Drilled through my floor ruining the baseboard and wall, said they would fix it and created a larger mess!! Was generous and gave us a $100 credit on the bill. His two electricians he sent were prompt and took the time to put up the ceiling fans in our home. We have hardwood floors and they took the time to put on booties to protect our floor. Very disappointed in this company. The owner, Steve came to our home to fix an issue when we didn't have power in a couple of rooms. He came into our home without even saying hello....so I proceeded to introduce myself. He walked in and looked at the circuit breaker box and fixed the issue, saying that the breaker was shut off....sounds like a dumb mistake on our part somehow (though I am still baffled because each time we flip the breaker we check to see if the power is on, if not it gets flipped right back). At this point, he turns to me and says "Well, that's gonna cost you" in the most unprofessional tone I've ever heard. I understand this stuff isn't free and it costs money just to arrive at a location. Well it did cost us, $137 for less than 5 minutes of his time. I don't expect it to cost $20 or anything like that, but $137? Really? I was nervous to hire somebody off of Craigslist without knowing their reputation, but anyone would have been at least as professional as Steve! read more
