A cute place in a cute town. When you hear a name like Granny Joe's, you have a certain expectation in mind. This place definitely lives up to that expectation. This is a quaint ice cream shop in downtown Vermilion located in the Main Street district. They have their own parking lot and plenty of seating inside. In the summer, the tables can get crowded. Prices are extremely fair (but so is everything in Vermilion). The homey decor is so fitting of the name Granny Joe's! They easily carry about 20+ flavors of ice cream, plus traditional favorites like hot fudge sundaes, malts and tin roofs. I have been coming here for years since I was little in the summers, and something about their ice cream is just so delicious when you're in this little beach town. I recommend the lemon blueberry cheesecake in a cup. Two scoops will give you generous leftovers! The staff is really helpful and happy to help you with samples. They also have a cute outdoor porch you can sit on. It also doesn't hurt to just grab your ice cream, walk to more local shops, the beautiful library, or of course: THE BEACH!

Stopped and got ice cream here the other day, I got a medium for $6. She said the ice cream was soft and that's why it was a mess. But my moms was normal with 3 scoops on top. The service was fast and had plenty of outdoor seating.

Nice little stop for I've Cream treats. Wanted to try for dinner but the dinner hrs weren't very late. Nice variety to choose from and a very friendly staff. The sitting area is nostalgic with pictures of the area from the past. A double scoop of Dark Cherry can always set my evening mood!!

Icecream that is disfigured because I put it in a bowl lol

This place's icecream was amazing. I tried the pumpkin and bourbon truffle- something flavors and together it was amazing. If I lived closer by I would go back here again just for the icecream. Atmosphere wise we went on a cloudy day kind of late and there weren't a lot of people around. It feels like a grandmas house lol. I think that family / elderly people wise this place is really cool and is oriented towards them. But as for young adults / teens kind of poor marketing.. Because it feels like you're going to your grandmas house lol. Right next door is also their pizza shop which they also own. The workers were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place and I would go back here .

The food and help is always great we are there about once a month. The perch is fantastic. It's worth the hour and a half drive.

Five stars for the perch sandwich. It is excellent and what you should expect as a signature dish for Vermilion!

The service is pretty good and the food is okay. But the ice cream is great and it's so cute and clean inside.

CHEZ Francois - Vermilion…read more Our weekend experience along Lake Erie brought to mind several very nice dining experiences at CHEZ Francois - Vermilion. We fully endorse the dress code and expect other fine dining establishments to embrace: Gentlemen, Jackets Please "Recent phone call: She then asked if we ever have problems with customers and the dress code. I told her about a young lady who came in wearing flip-flops accompanied by her parents. We also felt her jean skirt and a tank top were inappropriate in our indoor dining room and disrespectful to our other diners. When I confronted her about her casual attires she began to cry and explained that it was her parents wedding anniversary. I relented and allowed them to sit in the dining room. I explained to the PD writer that occasionally circumstances dictate that we give the benefit of the doubt to avoid an embarrassing confrontation." We have excellent memories of Dayton and Cincinnati dining history which offered more than several fine dining experiences. We deplore the current practice of casualness and the proliferation of Sports Bars. We have delighted in several evenings of dining at CHEZ Francois - Vermilion. One consideration is Chef D'Amico's Prix Fixe Menu Six-Course Menu · $175 Per Person Wine Pairing · $75 Per Person 3oz per course Perhaps, Fruit Wood Smoked Salmon & Peekytoe Crab Timbale, Dill Remoulade Sauce Maine Diver Sea Scallop & Himalayan Morel Mushrooms En Croûte Bronzini Poêlé, Gremolata, Sauce au beurre de Verjus Seared Bronzini filet served over caramelized fennel and roasted fingerling potatoes, finished with a Plugrá Meyer lemon Verjus butter sauce and Gremolata and pickled fennel. Plateau de Fromages for Two, Montrachet Goat, St. Angel, English Stilton and Èpoisses, dates, Membrillo (quince paste) and almond/fig cake. In our view it is well worth planning a trip to Lake Erie to enjoy CHEZ Francois.
