Passing through Bastrop, and stopped in for lunch. Yes, the staff was friendly; however, the place was run-down and not that clean. the men's room was locked so my husband slipped in the ladies' room. The food was mainly deep-fried: fried chicken, fried chicken livers, fried catfish. And fried catfish steaks were so full of bones, I barely got a few bites. Anyway, no, I would not recommend. Family buffet style meals that are affordable. The line to get food is a bit confusing but once you figure it out, it's smooth sailing. Very affordable and good food. The bread pudding isn't the best I've ever eaten but it's pretty darn good. read more

Very nice family owned restaurant, with buffet style setup. The food is good, and the staff are always polite and courteous. I think we like the Monroe restaurant better, but only because it has a better selection of food on its buffet. A lot more choices than the Bastrop restaurant. I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 because they're NOT always consistent with their cooking style.... what I mean by that is sometimes their boiled shrimp will be just right, and the next time they will be so HOT I can't eat them... This family owned place is a great place to go if you like food like your grandma makes it! The fried chicken is awesome and the buffet has all kinds of good stuff to pick from. They always have good entree's on the buffet such as fried porkchops, succulent fried chicken, lasagna and many other options. They also have seafood on Friday nights.
